To all guys complaining about the age of some DDs in AL vs Kancolle: You forgot that DEs exist, right? So much for "there are no little kids in KC".

Ah, yes, so I was imagining things when the one time I tried to strike anything even remotely near you I lost all planes without getting a single torp in the water? Guess it was all in my head then. The reason you lost is because you chose to camp and stat pad along with the rest of your flank while leaving the other flank that was actually trying to push for dead. We had a cap advantage of 2/3 to 0 for the majority of the match which eventually shifted to 3 to 1 in both games I played against you. The damage you dealt means nothing. Literally nothing. By your mere presence you were a liability to your team as you and your division mates deprived your teammates that actually tried to do something of valuable AA cover, choosing instead to stay with the players exhibiting behavior you apparently despise and give more and more map control to us. To say that you didn't deserve to have even the most remote chance of winning is an understatement. You've let your team down massively, you reaped what you've sown as a result. No wonder you're whining about CVs all the time when every match you appear in with your buddies you're giving the enemy CV a massive advantage. Then again to expect you to understand this is probably too much to ask for considering you refuse to acknowledge that this is a team game in the first place. Please, by all means continue to be a liability to your team and whine about how overpowered CVs are when the actual problem is yourself. Well, it's also about preparation. When you have a fighter locked with an enemy one and you see an enemy fighter swooping in, already be mentally prepared of what can happen next. Keep your second fighter a bit further back so your enemy cannot reach them by strafing out. If he then goes for strafing, get the squad that was locked out of harms way first as you'll have more than enough time to react with your second squad. Only after you've made sure your second squad is also safe you can give the order to reengage. Fighter combat, along with a lot of other aspects of the game, is primarily about information. The more you gather before you commit, the better off you're going to be. In this sense CV play is actually easier than playing a surface ship as your opponent is never going to be able to truly surprise you. By default you'll always see him coming from miles away. -

Just imagining the amount of salt some people would generate because "OMG MORE WEEB " if such a collab were to happen makes me giddy. -

I mean, yeah it requires some basic timing from you but it isn't APM intensive. It literally requires 2 clicks per squad, remember that APM spam is not only you begging the UI to [edited] up somewhere, but it actually slows down your fighters with tiny turns. CV play is based primarily on decision making and situational awareness (both are things the average player is absolutely [edited] at), the amount of APM required is hilariously low and high APM actually gets punished by the UI. And neither does playing CVs require much multitasking IF YOU DON'T DECIDE TO DO IT. You can easily turn CV play into a series of individual tasks instead of trying to handle everything at once (which, again, is just inviting the UI to [edited] up on you). E.g. you want to attack but the enemy CV is also attacking. Instead of trying to defend and attack at the same time, you can just pull your bombers back for a bit and focus on defending with your fighters. Once the enemy aircraft have been dealt with you can focus on attacking again. Also just to give an overview of how many reserves you're going to have with the new change: In comparison Reserves (with AS) Midway Hakuryu Enterprise Fighters 18 19 31 Divebombers 18 18 16 Torpedobombers 20 31 15 Fighters (squads + leftover individuals) 2 + 4 3 + 4 5 + 1 DBs (squads + leftover individuals) 2 + 4 3 + 3 2 + 4 TBs (squads + leftover individuals) 3 + 2 7 + 3 3 Please note that I play Haku with 2-3-2 to get more fighters, imo it is not worth it to sacrifice those for just an extra DB. Reserves for 2-3-3 are 15F / 22DB / 26TB. With this in mind, I'd probably prefer to use the Enterprise to fight against a Haku. I get up tiered like 60-70% of the time in her anyway. -
*sigh*
-
*T8. And she was an amazing DD for her tier. So yeah, we should go back. Remember, even the devs admit that the game was better in CBT.

Meh, BB overpopulation is going to persist so USN CLs won't be able to take aggressive positions and will get blown out of the water the moment they overextend. I'm not too worried.
-
Definitely a Bismarck with Scharn turrets. My guess would be Photoshop, no such premium exists to my knowledge. EDIT: See post above mine.
-
96 planes = 32 of each plane type. With the initial wave going out that puts the reserve numbers of fighters and DBs at 18 respectively and 20 for TBs. So in terms of squads you have about the same strike reserves as Enterprise with far fewer fighters to boot. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I would just like to note that you can also just wait until the enemy has closed to ~3km before you activate DFAA. If you run premium consumables and force it on cd after you killed all planes you'll easily have another charge ready by the time the CV returns. Too often do I see idiots wasting their DFAA as soon as I enter their bubble, as if they actually believe I will not simply turn around and leave then.- 49 replies

Meh, it's been this way since... well, always. In my experience general rule of thumb is that the further away your target, the more inaccurate the representation. This is especially noticeable in free view as the distance is dependent on your ship and not the player camera.
-
Desync probably. WoWs is a server sided game, not everything you see can be taken for granted.

A cruisers' role is air defense, not inconveniencing DDs. That's the job of the CV. Also if you remove DFAA at high tiers T10 cruisers are [edited] because lol AP bombs.- 49 replies

If you were actually any good in CVs then you would be able to beat a Midway in a Haku. It's not even that hard as most Midway players are way too confident in their massive reserves. Don't blame the ship if you can't make her work for you. Haku easily surpasses Midway in power at the highest level of play. Wow, yeah, strafing out is so hard to beat. Step 1: Identify in time that the enemy is strafing out. (No, it's not that hard. In a click fight your enemy doesn't move around, when he strafes out he does.) Step 2: Dodge with your second squad. Even if you lose 1-2 planes he's [edited]. Step 3: Reengage with both squads, repeat if necessary. Alternative: Counterstrafe. This thread is now officially a monument to the ignorance of the average CV player. -
Mogami also had ~18km range with AFT and a generous stealth firing window back in the day, outperforming Myoko in almost every aspect. To say that Helena and pre-nerf Mogami aren't even remotely comparable is an understatement.

Because stating that high level CV players can recognize that the changes WG made has done nothing but increase their influence on a match despite their protests equals CV players demanding WG to make CVs more powerful. Thanks for helping me win those couple of games I met you in, though. Your inability to spread out the tremendous AA defenses of your cruiser divs over two flanks was instrumental in helping me and my respective teams achieve victory. :P -

Ohohohoho, one thing you forget though is that I don't need to repeat the things that you already stated. Coupled with the fact that I actually play both CVs at a high level I can accurately assess the capabilities of both, while you are extremely limited in your viewpoint. And since you are the only one who chose to only display the fact that suit your point of view, you're inherently biased. Funny, considering this is precisely what got skilled CV players to their state of dominance in the first place: WG blatantly ignoring the opinions of skilled CV players. If WG had actually listened to us even once then we wouldn't be anywhere near. Here's a little known fact: Next to no dev actually plays CVs and the few that do are terrible at it (if you do not believe me the stats are publicly available, go look them up yourself). Statistics do not trump experience, no game dev balances around statistics alone because it is a stupid [edited] thing to do. Statistics can easily be skewed, experience allows you to tell if they are and what it is caused by. I have a pretty good overview of what game development and balancing entails (if I didn't I wouldn't hold my current occupation), thank you very much. And you know who has the last say in regards to balancing changes in any decent development team? The QA department, the people that test changes and have actual gameplay experience. The entity that seems to be completely absent from WG's development staff regarding CVs. If QA says that what you're doing is terrible and you should reconsider, ignore them at your own peril. And to say that CV balance would be much better with just a few tweaks is an understatement, tweaks that CV players have been calling for for ages. To just two of them that have recently made it into the game: USN loadout rework? Suggested first two years ago. Making torps less visible from air? Also suggested first two years ago. If anything you have demonstrated that YOU know nothing about game development. Balancing purely around statistics is a joke, making people do balance work when they know nothing about what they're balancing is beyond a joke. -

- Hakuryu TBs service thrice as fast - Hakuryu TBs are much faster thanks to being T10 - Hakuryu DBs are much more accurate, guaranteeing 3-4 fires with some minor micro - Hakuryu DBs can be used as expendable scouts if necessary - Hakuryu has much more flexibility thanks to having more squadrons in the air - Hakuryu can strike exposed targets without taking horrendous losses as her strike aircraft are T10 Thank you for demonstrating your blatant inexperience. -

Please read what Karma stated above. Hakuryu actually has better sustain unless you're incompetent. Anyone who actually plays both Midway and Haku should know this. -

El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but that is precisely why Midway gets T8 TBs in the first place. It's what allows her to field 2 TB squads. Personally I don't see why it makes her overpowered. You get the same or less amount of hits than Haku in a strike against capital ships. She's still at a strike disadvantage as Haku services thrice as fast. As for WG statements, they also said they're looking into BB overpopulation 2 years ago. -
UPDATE: Shimakaze's new values were incorrect, please see the current numbers. Apologies for the error. Japanese destroyer Shimakaze's base concealment improved to 7.11 km (instead of 7.56), while with all the modifiers the number is 5.59 km (instead of 5.9 km).

El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
The funny thing is that Midway gets about the same or less hits as Hakuryu on a capital ship due to the inherently flimsy nature of her TBs. I've rarely attacked something and lost less than 3 TBs. It's probably just perceived as more due to the tight spread of her torps. Against DDs, yeah, but does it really matter as you're [edited] anyway barring any major mistakes from the CV? If a Midway attacks you and you're out of position, you're dead. If a Hakuryu attacks you and you're out of position, you're also dead. The tighter spread of Midway TBs really doesn't make any difference here. That said I would much prefer Midway have T10 strike aircraft but a 2-1-3 or even 2-1-4 setup instead.
