Because clearly over 110 is so easily reached even in a Midway, as it requires your enemy to be exceptionally stupid BUT not stupid enough to feed an excessive amount of planes to your team. I've got two instances just recently in which I got fairly close to 100, though. And to say it wasn't even that hard is an understatement. So yeah, how about you take your own words to heart for once? Fighter combat is in fact largely dependent on skill regardless of what CV you are playing or facing, thus if you cannot beat a Midway in a Hakuryu, YOU are the problem. -

What feat? Almost everything I can do in a Midway I can do better in a Hakuryu. https://wows-numbers.com/ship/4277122768,Hakuryu/?order=win_rate__desc#leaderboard https://wows-numbers.com/ship/4279220208,Midway/?order=win_rate__desc#leaderboard One guy gets a over 90% WR in both Haku and Midway. What a standard to have. As if WR even means anything in the face of divisions. So you haven't managed to grasp the basics of CV play in over 2 years. I have no words. They are for the most part. If you cannot beat a Midway in a Haku, you're simply not good enough. Both CVs have plenty of room to outplay the other, it's not their fault you're incapable of doing so. -
Feedback FOR WG about quality of gameplay...
El2aZeR replied to Boris_MNE's topic in General Discussion
Honestly it's baffling that there aren't any operations for low tier ships. They'd provide the perfect platform for new players to learn how to play the game if you design them the right way. -
Official explanation as to why they chose to remove alt attacks for low tier CVs instead of doing anything else we've suggested. It's on the forums somewhere, though I wouldn't know what to search for.

Well, true, but it's particularly insulting to CVs as they've essentially told us to the face that they're discarding everything we say because we're too knowledgeable and experienced. Don't think that has happened to any other class.

Statistics are worthless without proper analysis. What you're doing is basically the equivalence of making a connection between climate change and the decline of piracy. You can point at stats all day, but only the dumbest of people will believe you unless you deliver proper analysis. Have you never learnt that in school? If you cannot defeat a Midway in a Haku, then that's a sign that you're incapable of playing Hakuryu to her full potential. That's reality. Face it. Honestly I had a long post about how literally everything you've just stated demonstrates your inexperience but then decided to cull it because you're beyond reasoning anyway. That you even believe Midway has the same strike potential as Hakuryu demonstrates as much. But here are a couple of questions for you: If fighters are so important, how come pre-buff Midway wasn't much superior to Haku? How come Essex is nowadays still considered far inferior to Taiho despite better air control ability? Could it be that air control means nothing in the face of far inferior striking potential? Could it be that you are simply incapable of utilizing the various weaknesses of a Midway to your advantage? And if you think I'm biased, I've started to play Hakuryu on a regular basis again. Not once have I lost the air war against a Midway, with quite a few of them being in dark purple territory. The advantage a Midway has in air control means literally nothing if you know the basics of fighter combat and how to exploit the out of the drawbacks a Midway cannot overcome with simple skill. -
Doesn't matter what we write here, WG ignores skilled CV players out of principle as they've told us to the face already. You know, despite everything we've predicted coming to pass.

Because it eliminates all differences between the two CVs. If you want something to be equal then you must make them the same in every aspect. IJN CVs naturally require more skill as they have more plane squads to manage and shorter service times, making their playstyle more frantic and demanding than USN CVs. On the flip side that allows IJN CVs to be much more flexible as well, trading off their higher skill floor. Besides, Midway is already on the backfoot. Hakuryu has tremendously higher scouting and striking potential, which along with some basic understanding of fighter combat puts her way ahead. Numerical advantages in fighter combat only matter in direct confrontations and any CV player worth his salt will never take such when he knows he cannot win, fighters aren't stationary assets after all. Midway is NOT capable of simply dominating a Haku, it is the shoddy low end skill and understanding of the average player that makes it happen. If you just click and be done with it, yeah, you're going to lose. If you just apply a bit of brain to it (which is apparently too much to ask for) then the Midway will never be able to take a fight he can win. In the worst case scenario this makes you both incapable of striking, which means you still win because you have the freedom to scout whereas he does not. This doesn't even take strafing into account as thanks to the longer strafe pathing of USN fighters the moment a Midway misses just one strafe he loses the fight. Midway has plenty of drawbacks right now that you can exploit as a Hakuryu. Gutting her reserves as much as WG is planning on will brutalize every advantage Midway holds as well, making Hakuryu undoubtedly the superior CV once again. -
There is a mute function. On the scoreboard right click the name of the one you want to mute then click on "Disable chat messages". If you feel particularly offended you can report that player for "misbehavior in chat", a multitude of those lead to a chat ban. Hint: All other report options don't do anything but make the player lose karma, which has no effect anyway. Personally I don't believe anything should be done beyond providing the player with the option to mute others. Anything else is either a waste of time or can be easily abused (as is the very report function mentioned above for example). Toxicity has existed ever since the dawn of online gaming. Any attempt to reign it in has failed hard. Best thing you can do is to give the players a choice whether they want to continue reading/listening on how many people have ed their mothers or just mute the offending person. If you don't utilize the option handed to you but are still offended then it's your own fault, really.

You're not really facing better players, just DDs with higher HP pools that can survive two hits. And with only a single TB you'll rarely get more than two hits unless your target is exceptionally stupid. On the bright side AP bombs on Lex work very well due to ships vulnerable to them flooding her tier bracket, so that becomes your primary source of damage usually. Or at least it was mine when I played her. Essex is basically the same ship with a fighter more. That gives you good air control but barely any way to exploit it as in T9 AP bombs aren't viable anymore. Midway is currently the only high tier USN CV that is for the most part on par with her IJN counterpart, though if the upcoming nerf to her reserves go through that too will most likely no longer be the case.

It depends more on player ability (on both the CV's and the opposing team's part) than anything else. Technically speaking you can make even the most meager reserves work as Enterprise proves quite handily. Whether you can actually strike something however is another story entirely. Reserves really only determine how carefree you can play, not what targets you can strike. This is one of the reasons why Midway is so popular, as her large reserves makes her a lot less punishing. -
AR is pretty much the universal skill nowadays as it provides amazing returns for little investment. BFT increases your gun power, which enhances the strengths of your ship even further. Mind you I don't have a Gremy, but I'm grinding the RU DD line right now (at Minsk currently). Personally I hate the godawful turret traverse so much that I picked EM over DE.

Hardly, as neither cruisers and DDs are 100% prevented from dealing damage. Besides, a cruiser heavy game doesn't mean purely cruisers. Just 5-6 on the map alone is severely restrictive to any CV if they aren't kept in check by 5 BBs as well. Not that you'd ever know that. Every other ship also has far more staying power and cannot be restricted in movement nor hindered to attack or even scout by the mere presence of enemy forces. You're truly grasping at straws, aren't you? It's an advantage to be sure, but the effects are minimal. If it does have an effect then the opposing team has misplayed severely prior in the match and doesn't deserve to win in the first place. And on the off chance that you do catch a CV it usually dies very quickly. Even those that have an armored flight deck, although switching to HE shells is something that many BBs will never even consider. The human factor plays little role in game balance as previously explained. All the plane reserves in the world don't help you if you cannot strike anything in the first place. I can easily wipe the entire TB reserves of a Midway in an almost dead Hindenburg alone and it involves nothing but some minor application of the "I-win" button, knowledge of basic CV mechanics and WASD. To say that it requires no skill is an understatement, yet you make it seem so hard. Most of your DDs were killed in the opening minutes of the match, with your remaining one sitting in B with the rest of your flank. Also the only time I ventured near you was when I attacked a Roma in your spawn cap well outside of your main force that was camping in smoke at B, with no one but you defending it. It's possible that we're referencing different matches. Or you're just resorting to straight up lies. Can never tell with you, really. It's also funny how you literally ignore everything else you cannot refute. How about you take your own advice for a change? -
Penetration on modules such as AA guns, barbettes/turrets and torp launchers as well as torpedo bulges (if you don't penetrate the armor behind it) deal no damage.

Upgrading from Fletcher to Gearing is tricky because both play different roles. Fletcher is a torp boat with usable guns, Gearing is a knife fighter with usable torps. Both are excellent at what they do but they require different playstyles. Thing is that you won't be able to tell whether or not you will transition well into the Gearing before you actually play her (obviously). Best advice is probably to go to the PTS client and see for yourself.
-
Tanking for your team doesn't work on a fundamental level as is written in the opening post, thus you should always have an exit strategy. Being focus fired by your enemy in a BB is usually precisely because your cruisers and DDs have chosen to retreat.

If I'm understanding correctly you want the devs to open a poll as to whether players want strafing and auto drop to be removed or not? Because that'd be rather pointless considering WG is currently banking everything on the CV rework, which will apparently change everything anyway. My personal opinions on - removing strafe: No, strafing was introduced to make fighters useful and not just sacrificial pawns or scouts. Removing strafe would make fighters worthless in their air interception role once again, especially since nowadays a combination of Evasive Maneuvers and Expert Rear Gunner would make clicking bombers extremely foolish. - removing auto drop: Yes, auto drop has no reason to exist other than making bad players perform worse. People may say that it makes CV play easier for inexperienced players, when in reality it's just ing them over big time.

slower speed = tighter turning circle?
El2aZeR replied to chaosrealm93's topic in General Discussion
Less speed = less drift = tighter turning circle. There is a relation between speed and displacement here, which is why DDs drift a lot and BBs barely do. I believe the turning circle stat in port is the minimal turning circle without drift. -
Missouri: What targets earns me more credits???
El2aZeR replied to Battleship_USS_Arizona's topic in Battleships
Rewards for damage dealt are calculated in percentage. If you do 10k damage to a high tier DD for example, that's roughly 50% and you get rewards for 50% damage dealt. If you however do 10k damage to a high tier BB, that's about 10% damage dealt and rewarded accordingly. So if you kill a high tier BB with 100% damage dealt, roughly doing 100k damage, you'll get the same rewards as if you had killed a high tier DD with 100% damage dealt, doing roughly 20k damage.- 10 replies

Suggestion: Instructor Program and Suite.
El2aZeR replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
Because the Gameplay subsection gets more exposure obviously. Back on topic: I wouldn't mind coaching someone for a game or two tbh. I've already been approached by several newer CV players for advice (well, after I've crushed them), which I was more than happy to give. Only CV players so far though ironically. Wouldn't exactly say that WoWs is as noob friendly as some other games, though. Even Counter-Strike nowadays has a better tutorial. The one in WoWs barely even tells you how to move and shoot. Basic things like angling are never touched upon. -
I believe the inability of the YY to hit DDs with her torps to be a more than a sufficient trade for her advantages. I've taken advantage of that on several occasions in my Gearing with great success. On the other hand lowering the draft of the Gearing is hardly such an enormous buff that it cannot be considered. The impact it'd have on balance is more than likely going to be negligible.
