I just use the minimap for that tbh. (I hope people realize that you can issue orders on the minimap and use it to move your viewpoint btw.)

Pretty sure stock NC used to have Chicago Pianos, too. NC AA was buffed a long time ago however. Maybe they changed the stock hull then as well.

Please, cyclones are amazing for CVs. The ability to straight up ignore AA until 2km is a death sentence for any ship, including no fly zones. (Funnily enough DFAA still works even if the AA in question can't actually shoot at your planes. It's a psychic ability it seems.)

According to reddit: So I'm guessing that's Saint Louis. Also someone on the AL dev staff must be a Fate fan. I mean really, this is the second time that the resemblance is too uncanny to be a coincidence. -
So, some captains, flags and a seriously 'MURICA camo for Cleve. Guess the saltmakers can rest easy now.

Uh, am I the only one who basically never uses the global map? Like ever? Even when playing CVs? I mean, not that I'm against this change ofc.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, that'd be entirely situational. In many cases I'd actually much prefer to be a DD as the last ship alive. Being alone in a CV usually means you'll lose by default unless your team has a tremendous point lead and the game is about to end. The problem with AA ships isn't their number but that the vast majority of them are concentrated in T9-10 or only available as premium ships. There are in my experience only two tech tree cruisers below T9 that pose a significant threat against same tier CVs: Cleveland (which will get moved up) and Hipper. Instead you'll actually have to rely on BBs to take over the air defense role, which are only effective at it if you invest a massive amount of points and upgrades. Few people spec ships the "right" way in general. Expecting them to disregard themselves and spec for AA is even more rare. And with the scarcity of CVs around it's even understandable. Plus with CVs being excluded from CBs even skilled players can be deterred from using a partial or full AA build. All these issues are a massive factor in why CVs are so dominate in the current meta. And there are still plenty more that have very little to do with CVs themselves. Which ofc begs the question why. There is this weird misconception that making CVs more popular or even letting more CVs into a match will somehow address the skill gap between good and bad CV players "just like any other class". It's hilariously wrong but you see it thrown around so often it's mind boggling. Doesn't help that competent and incompetent CV players basically play two entirely different games thanks to the existence of "noob friendly" mechanics which in reality just new players over big time. -
Does short fuse AP mechanic of RN BBs exist in WoWs?
El2aZeR replied to GeneralSavage's topic in General Discussion
As I stated before, sfAP is less likely to overpen once the fuse is armed. On the flipside the shell may explode before reaching the citadel. Generally speaking it can be said that you'll get less overpens but will score fewer citadel hits on some BBs. It's more of a trade-off rather than a direct advantage.- 16 replies

Honestly I'd force ingame tutorials on players whenever they research a new class (though since forcing will never happen a strong recommendation should suffice). Give out small rewards such as camos, a bit of free exp, credits and the like to make it worth their while. If a tutorial button just leads to some videos or long walls of text most players will simply disregard them. Doing it ingame and giving out a bunch of trinkets on completion should be much more appealing.

Never be the one initiating first contact unless you have no other choice. Let your tankier/sneakier teammates go first if possible. Try to go for an off angle so that a BB has to turn his guns all the way around to engage you. Chances are that he will ignore you but even if he doesn't, that buys you time you'll desperately need. Follow the tracers of your frontmost teammates. Sometimes you can accurately engage targets outside spotting range with that. Keep your side at autobounce angle, don't go full bow in unless you know that the enemy BB can't overmatch it. Use torps if available but don't rely on them unless you can guarantee a kill. Even the most mediocre BB will predict you'll launch torps at him and act accordingly. If all else fails, disengage before your enemy comes into spotting range. There is nothing cowardly about running away from a fight you cannot win. Regroup with some teammates then push as a force.

If you want something resembling the historical loadout, mount the B hull.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
No, they cannot. Having an island between you and incoming planes can easily turn you from a strikeable target to an undesirable one. Just because the CV could fly around the island doesn't mean it's a smart thing to do. You'll either spend a ludicrous amount of time flying a large circle around, drastically increasing the chance of a timely response from your teammates or the enemy CV, or you'll spend a lot more time in AA by flying directly over your target. This is made even worse if there are other enemy ships nearby. Besides, some AA ships can deny over 16km of air space. On some of the smaller ones that's, what, a quarter to a third of relevant sections on the entire map? Really, if we'd not have BB overpopulation CVs would be far more restricted in terms of movement, perhaps even more so than any other class. The mere presence of an enemy AA ship is enough to deter you from ever venturing in that area, having five or six on the map basically prevents you from moving into enemy territory for a good majority of the match. No, "average" CV players inherently do not exist even if we'd suddenly get a big influx of new players. Being able to strafe and manual drop alone along with some basic knowledge about target selection catapults you easily into unicum territory because almost everyone else, including people playing other classes, is abysmally bad at the game. That means if you just show the slightest amount of competence you are suddenly turned into one of those CV players that, according to some, utterly ruin matches. That CVs excel has little to do with their inherent design and much more with how the current meta plays and how the average player in every class performs. -

El2aZeR replied to GeneralSavage's topic in General Discussion
sfAP doesn't mean the fuse is more sensitive. It means that once the fuse is armed the shell explodes earlier, leading to less overpens but can make a shell explode before reaching the citadel of some ships. Thus if you shoot weakly armored sections of a ship that won't arm the fuse, sfAP will overpen just as easily as normal AP shells. QE has pretty good AP shells, KGV ones are garbage.- 16 replies

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
El2aZeR replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
Meh, KC3 does a pretty good job of translating all the important stuff such as quests. The rest is fairly intuitive to use. Only thing that kinda bothers me is having to click through every shipgirl in the list when looking for a specific one as I have to look for the picture instead of the name. Even that isn't really too much of a nuisance. Though on the off chance that they do give us an English version I probably wouldn't switch unless they offered to transfer accounts as well. Too much time and effort invested in my current one. Speaking of localization, is there a release date for the English version of Girls' Frontline yet? -
Graf Zeppelin is a ludicrously worthless CV. She's only ahead of Lexington but that isn't a particularly hard benchmark to surpass. Any half decent Shokaku or Enterprise should be capable of stomping a GZ to the ground.
-
It matters to the topic at hand. T7 is currently top tier so often because T4 has protected MM. If you remove protected MM from T4 but not from T3, you're just bumping the issue a tier lower.

Kai Ni'd both Saratoga and Musashi today. All dat steel. Just gone. (Totally worth it tho) Anyways, HYPE! Still wish we'd get a Fletcher tho. -
Is it, really? Because I have a buddy whose (admittedly garbage) laptop can take ages to render a model even if he can already see the enemy ship on the minimap (and by ages I mean somewhere around 10-20 seconds), while for my gaming PC the model renders quite fast. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with fairness but with hardware, connection and server communication limitations. Although if you have a source that proves me wrong I'd be more than interested to see it.

Wait, in almost 9k battles you've never had problems with your team going full potato except for the past dozen days? Yeah...
-
I mean, what IS easy for the average random player? Just sayin'. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not really, but he hasn't been able to fly a strike for maybe half the game (the one strike he did fly against our flank I shut down hard) and we were killing his team. I could tell he was desperate. Honestly I would've probably done the same in his situation. As for AP bombs, well, us experienced CV captains have told WG from the beginning what a horrible addition they are to the game. And in typical WG fashion they chose to ignore us.

You can usually distract/spot/place DoTs just as well with two DBs. I see no point in getting a third one for any of these jobs. LOL 10 fighters in reserve Ahahahahahahaha
-
Question is, why play 2/3/3 in the first place? 2/3/2 gets almost an extra squad of fighters over 2/3/3 for the cost of a DB squad which is basically worthless for all intends and purposes anyway. Besides, a fighter from a Haku works just as well as a passive air denial tool as a fighter from a Midway. In fact, I'd rate IJN fighters superior since their strafe pathing is much shorter, giving them much more versatility. It's not necessarily an outplay but you're still forcing air parity which makes the fighter advantage of a Midway redundant. Of course if a Midway comes with fighter escort he's handing you air superiority on a silver platter as well as the opportunity to strike for free. And if opportunities to strike are presented Haku is still ahead of Midway. (Nice new avatar btw. :D) Honestly with 3/3/2 introduced I'd not have touched Midway reserves at all. It's literally the only thing left that she has over the Haku. Still a better change than completely over the Midway tho, I'll give them that much.

He had no other targets thanks to my over 14km diameter no fly zone and I couldn't be killed since I sailed from cover to cover. Also put me into a position to simply radar whatever was trying to smoke up. I basically did no damage on the flip side but hey, whatever it takes to win. We were actually behind in caps but made a concentrated push from C to B and won. Enemy CV broke under pressure and had no choice but to send planes to their deaths in an effort to at least try to do something.
-
I mean, the alternative for him would've been to do literally nothing. Either way I win.
