What is the stupidest thing you did today?
El2aZeR replied to piritskenyer's topic in General Discussion
Trusted my 3 BB teammates to push up to defend a cap against 2 heavily damaged cruisers and not all run away to hide on the 1-2 lines behind an island. -
World of "Every island has an HE spammer behind it."
El2aZeR replied to AngreyNoob's topic in General Discussion
This made me laugh, because the history of this game already proves you wrong. Cruisers at one point were so powerful that you could take on several braindead BBabies out in the open and have a very good chance of winning, something that's unthinkable nowadays. Then WG complied with the whining of said braindead BBabies and pretty much nerfed everything that could hurt them. -
I actually rebought her for Cherry Blossom. She's hilariously strong, being able to just nuke cruisers left and right. Not as effective against the horde of DDs tho.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
El2aZeR replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
- see 2x Belfast + Helena div on the enemy team - Angel on my left shoulder: "Dude, you're playing on your over 5 years old laptop that can barely get 30 fps on a reduced resolution and the most shoddy connection you've ever seen. Spare yourself the suffering and quit back to port." - Devil on my right shoulder: "You're playing a Lolanta. Just kill them all." - Me: "Mkay." -
"Because you also get a T6 CV on your team." - Official response from WG Yes, that is precisely as stupid as it sounds.

Even then KM BBs are ironically well armored compared to other ships vulnerable to (USN) AP bombs. Gneis/Scharn and Bismarck/Tirpitz have turtleback that can bounce them while FdG only has a very thin strip of armor that can actually cause citadels. Pretty much everything else just pops guaranteed in a single strike. GZ is a different story entirely.
-
So? You have to pay something for your ludicrous strike power.
-
Well, as I said previously, it applies to almost every BB line nowadays. The Germans and British ones are just especially insulting.

Learned in a few CV games that even in an air defense role Worcester kinda fails unless supported by smoke. Last time I met one I kept a squad just outside 8km of the island he was camping behind. He started firing, thus enabling my planes to spot him, then got instakilled by all the BBs on his flank gunning for him. Ironically that makes a CV the worst nightmare for a Worcester just as I predicted.
-
I didn't imply that they're weak or strong objectively. I stated that they're too strong due to being braindead for the following reasons: - turtleback giving full immunity to citadels at all ranges (barring some incredibly lucky shots through the bow/stern or stupid maneuvering) - secondaries that stack damage even without player input - hydro - incredible to decent AA depending on tier and specialization - most well armored line against HE shells - horrible dispersion ironically giving misaimed shots a pretty good chance to hit a maneuvering target This is a line that caters to the lowest possible denominator, rewarding braindead play while punishing skill.
-
Nah, in fact KM BBs are too strong due to being way too braindead. Although that applies to almost every BB nowadays.

GZ A ridiculous glass cannon so to speak. Ludicrous strike potential but low reserves and practically no air control. If you go up against an experienced CV captain in a Shokaku/Enterprise with her you're almost guaranteed to get farmed for KotA achievements. Though there aren't many of those around, explaining why she's doing so well in randoms. Shokaku Still the staple, most well rounded T8 CV. Highest amount of flexibility at the cost of excelling at almost nothing. Air control is good but not as good as Enterprise, strikes hurt but not as much as GZ, highest scouting potential due to having 2 expendable DBs. Don't take the AS setup tho unless you're playing ranked/competitive. Enterprise Practically an AS CV with strike potential to back it up. Stupidly high fighter reserves, but downtiered fighters and low bomber reserves require very careful micromanagement. AP bombs are meme, TB spread is awkward but workable. Possibly the most effective T8 CV when in the hands of a true expert. Rather weak when captained by someone average. Lexington lol no Okay, the 1/1/2 setup was admittedly a very welcome buff, but it's still far from enough to make Lex competitive against her contemporaries in any way. She his still lacking in every single aspect of CV play, be it air control, strike or scouting potential. The only real bright sides to her is that she can take tech tree USN AP bombs, which are more meme than the ones on Enterprise (due to being hilariously accurate with manual drop), and that you're still gonna do fairly well if you're an experienced CV captain due to the large majority of the playerbase being braindead.

Operation Cherry Blossom - Your First thoughts?
El2aZeR replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Played 2 times with Cleve, got 5 stars in both. Easy but fun is what I'd describe the new op as. Perhaps even a tad too easy. -
lol nah. High tiers is just as if not more braindead than low/mid tiers.
-
Doesn't particularly matter as WG is fairly liberal in changing anything that is not belt armor (e.g. Montana deck armor used to be 29mm), especially when it comes to STS armor plating that the USN liked to use.
-
AFT is more useful in denying spotting and protecting teammates. BFT is (possibly) more useful in denying strikes going for you. I'd take AFT.

With all this controversy about divisions I thought I'd showcase what power just two or three guys coordinating can hold in a game that is played 12 vs 12. Now for the first part, for the longest time I've played with these guys, henceforth called Friend 1 & 2: I play with these guys not because of their individual skill (obviously) but because we're real life friends and have a fun time playing together. Now, what happens when we put these guys together in a div? So what if you add me to the mix? So here you have it. Teamplay op, pls nerf.

Am I the only one who loves 1 and 2 point Captain skills?
El2aZeR replied to VC381's topic in General Discussion
Being able to play CVs competently myself I never leave port without at least AFT, if not BFT as well on all my BBs and cruisers. Sure, CVs may be rare, but I don't like taking chances especially considering I can't even rely on my teammates to have just DFAA nowadays. ¬_¬ -
To be fair no one seems particularly interested in it either. Until now I've never seen people complaining about it despite it being hilariously broken.
-
Because clearly I only play CVs. Also I pointed that out years ago but ofc WG doesn't listen to skilled CV players.

I laughed so hard I fell off my chair xD

How to give a brother a irrational hatred of red team CVs
El2aZeR replied to howardxu_23's topic in Off-Topic
While true, SoCar is also incredibly small and highly maneuverable comparatively speaking. You can almost dodge an auto drop by simply slowing down. Start dodging as soon as planes appear. If you start dodging when they attack it's already too late. -
Don't fool yourself, this is a CV mission. You need to get ludicrously lucky to finish this in a DD. In a CV tho? Switched to HE bombs for one game in my Midway and finished it instantly. It's a laughably easy cakewalk.

I love cyclones because they make all those potato BB finally move closer and play the objective. Although weren't cyclones slated to be replaced by localized weather effects?
