  1. ....wait. What? I must admit I am a bit surprised there are no name filters.

    Citadel Großer Kurfürst

Bypassing the turtleback means you don't have to deal with all that belt armor, so the only things sitting in the way of delicious, delicious damage are the torp bulge and the citadel side plating. Most heavy cruisers can easily penetrate both if they're close enough. Opportunities to do so are incredibly rare however.
  3. Oh, look, just a full HP NC 14 mins into the game that is about to end. Also he was reversing. How surprising.

    Citadel Großer Kurfürst

Three ways: - GK is turning towards you -> enables your shells to go below the turtleback straight into the citadel if you aim at the waterline - through the bow/aft, exploiting a small gap between the turtleback and the citadel - Graf Zeppelin AP bombs

What is the stupidest thing you did today?

Trusted my teammates to turn around to defend our cap in standard. lol nope.
  7. Oh, look, a ing ed BBaby who did nothing but camp at the border got a higher placement than me, someone who actually tried hard to keep this team in the match. BBs sure have it hard these days.
  8. That's... interesting. Just seen that I can't buy the Hipper or Cleve camo as well. Maybe they're rotating them? Enterprise this week, something else the next? Doesn't particularly make sense tho. Some clarification would be much appreciated @MrConway (though you're probably on vacation. Or hungover. ), @Crysantos, @Tuccy. And while we're at it, can we make E's planes look fancy with the AL camo too? :D

My hopes for the new cv ui

I was talking about the current iteration. Who knows how the rework will look like. WG may even do away with the 1/2 per team hardcap. Although with the latest q&a saying that CVs are gonna get specifically geared for CBs I'd expect a cluster for randoms.
  11. Precisely why HE shells are unreliable, tho I forgot to mention that this applies to BBs only due to the superior nature of their AP shells. Like with AP shells you have the chance to deal no damage, either by way of huge dispersion or shatters. Whether an HE shell can bounce or not is largely irrelevant, surfaces that can bounce such shells are for the most part proof against HE shells as well. Next to deal any real damage you need fires. And you need at least 2 permanent ones to deal any real damage. But even with 2 fires the damage you cause is negligible, so 3 fires is the goal. That's already 5 fires you need to set at least. Even with RN thermonuclear HE shells that may be well out of reach for you. And finally damage saturation will eventually prevent you from getting damaging salvos. On the other hand with AP shells you only need to aim at either the citadel, the superstructure or parts you can overmatch to deal damage. Overpens are pretty much guaranteed so they draw at least equal to HE shells in terms of damage dealt as it is independent of damage saturation. Throw some pens or even a citadel in there and you will vastly surpass it. Even against the superstructure only salvos surpassing 10k damage aren't uncommon. So both shell types need to not miss or shatter/bounce (or hit a module). AP shells will then guarantee you damage on par with or vastly superior to HE shells + fires on the spot due to their more reliable output. To match a couple of salvos with overpens or even just one salvo with several penetrations you'd need at 2 or even 3 permanent fired along with decent HE alpha (meaning that you'd need to get at least 4 or 5 fires total). If you don't get that (which is quite likely), your damage potential will fall behind significantly. That's a lot of RNG to go against over a significantly longer time span for a supposed "more reliable" shell type. Cruisers and DDs have to gamble on fires because they have no other choice. If they had the superior AP performance of BBs you can bet that most would discard HE shells in an instant, as was seen when WG trialed the "AP pen fix" blanked nerf for DDs.
  12. I just bought it ingame with doubloons in the usual camo menu today. Do you have AL camos disabled in your filters by any chance?
  13. Rather because they don't even know what AP shells are. You probably wouldn't believe the amount of players I've seen at gamescom who just stuck to the default shell choice (aka HE) regardless of situation. And HE is ironically a lot more unreliable than AP in terms of practical damage potential.
  14. No idea at all. Just came back home from gamescom today and saw it being sold for doubloons in port.

Some interesting info around the world

Just in case you're wondering how the Enterprise Azur Lane camo looks like: On a personal note, I really like it. The color combination works well and there is nothing obnoxious about the design.
  16. Excuse me, but I am free to admire my waifu any time she is at home in port. Also I just played my fourth top tier match in her. Clearly the result of buying her a new dress camo. EDIT: And loading into my fifth top tier match. I scored more citadels today than I did last month in all other classes combined. EDIT2: Inb4 CV op thread: WAIFU STRONK!
  17. Enterprise AL skin actually looks pretty good imo. I like the combination of black, red and gold.

What is wrong with our player base?

Because the warships genre generally has a rather weak following. WoWs is actually pretty casual in terms of base difficulty.

I see you failed Game Design 101. Games are in fact designed to be fun. But the way they are fun is often misunderstood. You see, the difference between playing a game and, for example, watching a movie is that games are interactive. This is the one aspect that has to be fun. On the flipside in any PvP game BEING INTERACTED WITH must be as unfun as possible. This aspect has existed since pretty much the dawn of civilization. The aspect of ruining the fun of others, otherwise known as competition, is found in every single game ever invented. Scoring a goal in soccer is fun, getting scored against is not. Breaking a highscore is fun, getting your highscore broken is not. Checkmating the enemy king is fun, being checkmated is not. Even rope jumping or other "childish" games can be turned into a competition if you have multiple people. And in a competition someone always gets the short end of the stick. Generally speaking outplaying your opponent is fun, being outplayed is not. It's the very core of playing against others. How serious you take it is up to you. Designing a game that is always fun regardless of what is happening is the very definition of bad game design. For example if you had fun getting hit by citadels, wouldn't you always seek to broadside? If you had fun getting killed by planes, wouldn't you always shut off your AA? Or in a single player game, is losing to the computer fun? Parts of a game are intentionally designed to be a punishing experience instead of a fun one to facilitate a natural learning process. And in a game where you have to play against others, interacting with others obviously becomes inevitable. Without ruining someone else's fun, PvP games cannot exist. There is literally no way around that. If you seek to never ruin someone else's fun, stop playing PvP games.

Nor are you smart enough to recognize that that Worchester is doing something rather smart, optimal even. And as if your game experience matters lol. This is a PvP game, if you design it to be fun at all times you have failed so hard you'll get kicked out of the industry instantly.
  21. Wait, if CVs are being specifically geared for CBs, doesn't that mean they'll automatically be broken in randoms because you assume people will actually play as a team? Isn't that the case right now with them in competitive? Happy they didn't rush them for gamescom tho. At least they learned something from the GZ debacle.

What is wrong with our player base?

Implying that actually matters. While you may not have a lot of match impact in a BB compared to other classes, it's hilariously easy to do well in them on a selfish basis. Winning doesn't matter in the face of the current economy.

What is wrong with our player base?

They are too busy hunting down glorious hero of proletariat @Boris_MNE to send him to gulag once again. I sure feel like a victim when I can sit in the most ludicrous crossfire, survive for a quarter of the match duration and kill or seriously damage most of my supposed predators. All while having a drink because using the keyboard isn't needed thanks to being able to outplay my opponents by just camping bow on. Also in my experience everyone ignores BBs as soon as something else pops up. Why would you even shoot at BBs? They take ages to kill even under focused fire, often have negligible influence on the match comparatively speaking and don't even give good rewards for damage dealt. Shooting BBs when more desirable targets are available is a waste of time. Even potatoes will gladly switch targets nowadays. The only class I have seen consistently target BBs is CVs. And that's probably because most CVs are unaware of or too stupid to manual drop and auto drop isn't exactly reliable against masses of AA or more maneuverable classes. And BB builds are in fact focused purely on damage, it's just that BBs don't have much in the way of skilling that way. You slap on the reload upgrade and that's pretty much all you can do. And since in terms of practical damage potential BBs already have the highest in the game this frees you up to take survivability or utility skills instead. Your base stats allow you to get the best of both worlds, whereas other classes will never amount to any tankiness even when skilled for it. If you had a skill that would e.g. allow you to increase your overmatch, you can bet your aft that BBs would take that over any survivability skill all day. Literally everything you've said about BB play contradicts with reality. BBs are the prey species? Don't make me laugh.
