Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
So they're going to release UK CVs with the rework after all. Smart move. -
Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
El2aZeR replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
Crysantos said someone apparently flipped a switch too early. Same with the Remembrance Night camo for Helena. Also: Woah, woah, woah, hold on a second. Minor EU nation ship incoming? -
It's called AA. And yes, it's a major balancing factor. Besides, even WG tells people to git gud if you can't play against CVs.
-
Don't forget to take Expert Rear Gunner as well! You know, as suggested by WG: I'm anxiously awaiting the results.
-
Honestly I believe the problem lies far deeper than that. The simple fact that having just one or two more guys willing to play as a team shouldn't have such a ludicrous impact on the outcome of a match in what is supposed to be a team game, especially in a competitive game mode. This is why I absolutely detest WG's decision to let the top scorer keep their star. It'd be fine if the economy in this game would actually reward team- and punish selfish play, but as it stands as far as I've heard ranked has become an egoistical cluster akin to randoms.
-
Have I ever claimed it to be? But just because one mechanic is broken doesn't mean we should tolerate another as well.
-
Irrelevant, the wiki is still written by the community and not the devs. Watch this: In case of full saturation just aim for the superstructure to score overpens and you'll be fine.

It already does. A normal strike is more than capable of severely damaging or outright killing an AA ship in case of misplay. AP bombs on the other hand can punish AA ships even when said AA ship has done nothing wrong.
-
The same reason why DDs shouldn't be AA ships without massive investment and losses in most other areas. It breaks the balancing scheme the game is built upon. Besides, cruisers are already being shafted hard, they don't need to get shafted even more by stuff they're supposed to counter.
-
Ironic, considering overpens are independent from damage saturation while HE suffers from it hard. Do people a favor, go learn about basic game mechanics before trying to comment on them.
-
Because clearly redesigning and rebalancing the entire game is surely the most feasible option.

True. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it however as it isn't as influential as most people believe it to be. Most teamplay is done on instinct so to speak and doesn't require communication. Isn't that just the nature of competition? The better team wins, end of story. Besides, know how one e.g. DM plays and you know how they all play. There is little room for individualism in terms of effective playstyles, thus it mostly comes down skill. And skill is what is supposed to decide games, no? If you lose against some players of the same clan, you would've likely lost even if you'd substitute them with random people of the same skill level. More often than not having a clanmate on your team is great not because you can teamplay well but because you know there is one less on your team. For the most part seeing people of the same clan on one team has an impact on morale and nothing more. And if you let yourself get discouraged that easily, maybe you deserve to lose. Obviously that should be punished, but that also violates the spirit of competition. Having multiple clan members on the same team on the other hand should be no issue in that regard. Thus it would ironically be a pretty good solution to always stack members of one clan into one team. Not allowing members of a clan into the same match could have some rather hilarious effects on queue times to say the least. Granted, I don't know how the current ranked population looks like but back when I still played I had to queue for quite a while in high ranks and I even delayed my grind to let others catch up. Considering my findings here: Yes actually, it's mostly about skill and teamplay. And no, the same does not apply to ranked unless you can land in the same match with your buddies literally every single time (which, while not impossible, is rather unlikely to say the least). If you're of inferior skill level compared to the mate you're playing with you'll eventually get left behind.
-
Not that I particularly care because I don't do the madness that is playing ranked anymore, but how exactly is this an unfair advantage? You are still expected to work together with your teammates, clanmate or not. The only real advantage you can potentially gain is VOIP, other than that you and any fellow clan members on your team are still under the same limitations as anyone else. And frankly VOIP isn't such an incredible advantage that it cannot be overcome, so I don't see why anyone would take issues with it. Considering ranked is supposed to be a competitive mode, shouldn't enemy "premade" teams incentivise you to work harder? To play better with your teammates? If you don't have the drive to even that, why are you playing a competitive mode in the first place? And if you still lose, it just means that the better team won. Such is the nature of competition.

I've seen BBs run to the map border from empty caps. Literally no enemy in sight. Wanna know why? "There could be enemies there." I'm not even joking, that was the actual response. Just face it, the reason why most BBs stay back is because it's a class literally every seems to play.

Why perfect shell hits by the Henri cause no damage
El2aZeR replied to ZAMRAM's topic in General Discussion
Overpens do damage. Bounces mean the target area was too angled. Non-penetrations mean the target area is too heavily armored to penetrate at your current distance. Solution? Learn when to shoot HE and when to shoot AP. -
I'd think that'd bounce off of the front bulkhead. A direct frontal shot that doesn't bounce could penetrate it directly however. You'd have to be ludicrously lucky to get that tho.

You know something has gone very wrong when you have to go take and contest caps with your secondaries in your CV... -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
El2aZeR replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Met @Verdius in his Tirpitz while playing my Seattle (god I hate that ship btw). -
High tier USN HE bombs can get hits in excess of 40k damage. They are usually in the 20k range tho.

0.7.8 Balance changes: Black Swan. Dear WG, please no.
El2aZeR replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
How this thread is still alive I have no idea, but I am so glad it is. There's some comedy gold found right here. :D -
Torps, flooding, aircraft torps, bombs, etc. As for cruisers, damage dealt is little and DCP is usually ready before you even get set on fire again. C'mon, you can't be that stupid.
-
Depends. I've occasionally dropped a target to make him get hit by DD spreads. Funny stuff. But generally speaking yeah, don't drop targets that are already "dead".
-
How do you explain Minotaurs being able to citadel Montys? The answer is out there somewhere, but we don't have it.
-
According to official statistics HE + fires is responsible for a measily ~15% of all BB deaths (or was it damage taken? Forgot). Compared to 40% for AP. Also damaging BBs again doesn't score you anything. Fires against any other class are practically worthless in terms of damage. So yeah, it's all just in your head. Scoring meh with AP is already much superior to scoring HE penetration + fires.
