    Current low tier CV population is actually pretty healthy. Seeing CVs is a regular occurence down there in my experience. Now there can be a plethora of reasons as to why many don't "survive" into mid or even high tiers. Getting demolished by unicums, literal AA wall starting at T6, high learning curve that the game never tells you about, the UI making itself more apparent since you get more squads to manage, etc. etc. etc. But since enough people are willing to give CVs a try to sustain low tier matches it means the concept in itself is actually a success initially, but fails hard later on. That never got addressed regardless of how many times we've complained about it. In fact it only got worse over time.

    This is actually a very interesting question. Considering the tight spread of the torps and your extreme focus on DoT damage, wouldn't it be desirable to attack from the front or rear with torps planes anyway to maximize flooding chances? With bombs and rockets attacking along the ship is already more effective, thus potentially minimizing losses from AA dramatically.

    Unless you're talking about the very basics, which every should be able to learn regardless of whether they're transferable or not, the skills learned when playing a BB don't transfer to playing a DD either.

    Quite frankly this is one of the reasons why AP bombs are broken and should've never existed. There is no good trade you can make here, but personally I'd prioritize my own survival instead of that of a teammate.

    To add to @LtSpitfire, only use DFAA when the bombers have closed the distance to under ~3km IF the target is yourself or the ally you're trying to protect is close to you. Using DFAA immediately after planes have entered your AA range is the worst mistake you can make in that case, especially if your base AA isn't up to par. It gives the enemy CV time to react and save his planes. Don't give him the opportunity to do that. If you use DFAA within 3km he has no choice but to lose all his aircraft whether he tries to pull out or attack.

    Ironically being able to dodge AA, being focused on DoT damage, having the next squadron ready instantly once the current one has expended all ordinance and increased speed makes CVs even more unpredictable than before as it widens target choices dramatically. You see, current CVs are in fact extremely predictable. With fixed flight and service times you can literally see them coming by the clock. Target selection is also very limited, CVs will naturally seek out the most overexposed ship closest to the front line and stack their attack planes into "one" squad unless they feel suicidal. This is how you predict and counter them in anything that is capable of defeating an air strike, you have (depending on the CV) 2-4 minutes to position yourself before the next strike hits. Fighters also passively limit the space a CV can operate in simply by existing in the general area just like AA ships. The way skilled CVs play with their fighters, you need to play with your AA ship at least on the flank you are on. Predict, observe, kill. It's not that hard for anyone with some experience in CV play at least. Now with the almost removal of fighters, eliminated service times, focus on DoT damage instead of alpha strike and potentially diminished AA along with their staying power literally quadrupled CVs become not only more unpredictable but a much more permanent threat. And that doesn't even go into that WG is aiming to eliminate all MM limitations of CVs.

    Wrong. The citadel of other BBs is underexposed. As such to fix this would be to raise all BB citadels to the level of the Yamato citadel or at least similar to it, but meh, who am I kidding? Being a T10 BB Yamato is one of the most fire resistant ships in the game. Also ships burned when hit. A lot. This is not unrealistic. Simply untrue. If you take damaging hits in a Yamato you would likely do so in every other BB.

    Yeah, it's not like CV players have been kicking in the teeth of every potato they meet for the past 3 years. What did that do? They certainly didn't get better, they didn't seek out ways to improve themselves or asked what they could do against it. No, the only thing that got louder and louder was the whining about how overpowered CVs are. Considering the counter in the rework is pretty much the same as now CVs will likely remain the most hated class in the game.

    That is perhaps the most glaring "problem" with CVs currently and will likely continue to be considering how resistant the average player is to changing the bow camping meta. The players in randoms no longer want to cooperate with each other, serving any skilled CV player massive amounts of match impact on a silver platter. I'd be extremely surprised if that somehow turns around with the rework.

    Which gives us a downward error margin of at best 5kn. That's still at least 50kn, much faster than default torp speed nowadays. Planes are very close to the water so the distance from planes to ship vs torps to ship is a negligible difference. The ship moving diagonally is also hardly significant considering the short distance and travel time. This isn't an early concept. This is finalized gameplay with polishing + balancing still to do, practically beta status in game terms, and has been in testing for quite some time (teaser of Jingles playing it was in May).

    Why are you still using plane speed? The distance to the target at drop is 2km which you can clearly see in the video. Travel time is approximately 7 seconds. From this you can calculate the speed of the torps (which I already did) then divide it by the speed multiplier of the game (which I also did). Result is a torpedo speed of about 55kn. Using plane speed to calculate anything is obviously more inaccurate as you need to approximate stuff instead of using hard values.

    Altitude control is automatic (for now), so using islands as cover actually isn't a thing.

    The problem is that I don't really see how this can be balanced. CVs being focused solely on DoT means that if they can strike they'll get away with massive damage totals, but if they can't they're practically worthless. Whereas in the current iteration you can remain useful by providing spotting for your team even if you can't deal any damage at all. I'll wait for further info and definitely play the beta if given the opportunity, but I'm not overly optimistic.

    Which ironically is the case already. Except in the rework it's worse because long and mid range AA can be dodged, meaning you have to be much closer to your teammates now to mitigate or deny damage.

    Pretty sure WG has forgotten the definition of counterplay considering stuff like - Conqueror - Asashio - Stalingrad among others. Honestly it looks like they want to make every class as effective as possible in every circumstance and forgo class balancing entirely.

    And if you simply anticipate the move like you can now that doesn't matter either. BBs and cruisers will die in droves to flooding. For DDs you have ROCKETS. I see you got your name back btw. ^^

    DISTANCE calculation. Plane speed becomes irrelevant. Torps are in fact much faster than before. If Torpedo Acceleration remains a thing, you'll have to deal with ~60kn torps dropped at 1,5km. There is literally no way you can evade that in anything.
  22. The thing is that judging by the puffs you seem to be able to easily dodge them by simply tapping A and D. (Which to be fair a lot of players already fail at in ships.) How effective close range AA is remains to be seen ofc. Although murderous AA is contradictory to WG's goal as that'd turn people off from playing CVs.

    Regardless, the distance calculation should hardly be faulty. Unless ofc I ed up somewhere. In that case please let me know. Math was never my strong suit.
