Cancel DFAA as soon as planes are dead. The cd is then short enough so you'll have it ready before the second wave arrives. Also unless those are AP bombs (and we can all agree that AP bombs are broken af) you're unlikely to take much damage. Thus the simple answer is not using DFAA for DBs and the removal of AP bombs.

You can also just wait until enemy aircraft are at ~3km? Use DFAA then and there will be no escape. Just sayin'. It's not that hard.

Doesn't exactly make sense considering there is nothing to be lost. Plane reserves are a thing of the past after all.

I mean purely out of gameplay concerns. Currently with service times and all a CV needs approx. 2-3 minutes to get into a first strike position if a DD is stupid enough to rush a cap. Aircraft also need around a minute or so to cross the entire map. If service times are eliminated and a CV can cross the map within ~15 seconds you could get attacked in spawn before you even reach full speed. I can't see how you can even remotely balance such hilarious speeds even if you add service times to the beginning of the match to prevent that. You could literally be anywhere on the map within 15 seconds. 80 seconds cooldown isn't all that long either. Fun fact: According to my previous torp speed calculation a ~50kn torp runs at about 1000 km/h. That means a 600kn aircraft would fly at 12000 km/h, almost 10 times the speed of sound.

Reworked CVs have infinite plane reserves. Hangar size is now completely irrelevant, really.

Am I the only one concerned about aircraft flying around at 600kn? Also rockets are made to destroyers, no surprises there.

This is a server sided game, you know? The server will have registered your hit and thus your kill, but the information that he died didn't make it in time back to you. Thus your client thinks that the Hindenburg is both alive and dead. At least that's what I think happens. -
I think you underestimate how big a no fly zone can be. On smaller maps or on maps where the action is concentrated into small areas one or two can in fact deny air space completely. Sure, the map border won't be blocked, but where you want to strike certainly will be. On bigger maps three are sufficient. Also I killed a Seattle yesterday in my Enterprise. No DFAA was triggered, no AA skills were taken (as I judged from being able to get very close without getting shot at). And do you know how many Minotaurs I have destroyed that have shut their AA off because they believed I would spot them in smoke otherwise and forgot to turn it on again? Hint: Probably more than you can imagine. The stupidity of the average player knows no bounds. You can only change what can be changed, and that'd be AA consistency and BB overpopulation. I think we can both agree that: - making your defense against aircraft hinge on a single I-win-button is stupid as . - the more BBs are in this game, the more powerful CVs ironically become as they make fewer people play cruisers, force the cruisers that play into less than ideal positions or kill them outright and make more players play DDs. I have been in games where almost the entire enemy team consists of AA cruisers. To say that I had practically nothing to do during those matches would be an understatement. Cruisers are supposed to be the most popular class and for a fair time span they actually were. It's too bad that WG killed that off as well thanks to a stupid amount of buffs to BBs along with hilarious nerfs to cruisers.

I believe there has already been an official answer in some Q&A, namely that WG isn't interested in reworking their economy model. Hardly surprising considering it would likely murder well over half the playerbase instantly.

I'm actually expecting a lot of new CV players due to the novelty factor that accompanies all shiny new things. The challenge will be making them stay with the class and not just abandoning it after a few matches. Which is gonna be highly difficult because at least from what we've seen reworked CV play looks extremely shallow. It's not something I would dedicate many battles in a session to. I'd take them out maybe once or twice then likely get bored, unlike now where I can easily play several games in a row without losing interest. However if they make them too complicated for the masses again then we'll just see the same problems resurface. One solution would be to make reworked CVs overpowered or broken in some way (you know, like being able to push attacks through regardless of opposition and reliably DoT stacking is). And I am extremely afraid of WG going exactly this way considering this is hardly the first time they've pandered to the lowest possible denominator.

Which is likely the result of WG making CVs extinct in the first place. When CVs were common people would ask for AA cover and there would be people around willing to provide it. Likewise everyone and their mother specialized for AA (although to be fair that was the only thing even remotely worth specializing into). The scarcity of CVs ironically benefits them immensely and that's the fault of WG themselves. Precisely. The thing that irks me about the rework isn't the overall concept (although I frankly still don't see how it can be balanced), it's that WG cites problems that the skilled CV playerbase has provided dozens of solutions over the past years for, yet none of them have ever been considered, let alone trialed. And ofc WG doesn't want to admit that they're throwing CV play on its head due to consoles, so we actually have to assume that they're simply incompetent. There is no other valid excuse for letting issues with your core game mechanics fester for three years.

Very simple, really. If everyone was a broadsiding disregarding concealment, I could very likely reach 85% WR in my NC, too. Because that's what people that sail alone with no AA whatsoever are to CVs. The ships that can actually oppose me in a serious fashion usually have to hide behind islands or otherwise stationary or passive positions because my 5 BB mafia will just straight up murder them if they move up and are thus easily bypassed. It only becomes trouble when there are several AA ships divided over both flanks in positions where my BBs can't kill them, which we all know rarely ever happens. Solve BB overpopulation and you have half the story dealt with, solve the dependency on AA skills + DFAA and the other side is done, too. Adjustments on CVs aren't needed at least when dealing with this. Clemson is just an example. NC is among the worst of her contemporaries as well, yet you can hardly tell me that she needs to be buffed.
