I just use one gold SG radar per fleet. Ambushes become rather pesky in later maps as well. -

Also radars lessen the ambush "build up" and increase the chance of evading them. -

Both inevitably tie in with each other. For example if all of your DDs suck or the enemy DDs are superior skill wise, your chances to win plummet hard. By harking on about the same thing on CVs that either means the skill gap between DD players is just as much a problem OR alternatively DDs are too influential and should be nerfed. If you only apply your logic to CVs that is hypocrisy of the highest order. -

Considering they did literally nothing and pissed us off time and time again, nah. Preparation for console development takes a lot of time, bureaucracy and paperwork. It's entirely possible that they've planned to replace RTS CVs for well over a year. QFT. Honestly we in fact have had complaints about DDs being too influential ("If all your DDs suicide = instant lose" for example). BBs and cruisers too had their fair share of complaints. If you do not believe it is a problem for e.g. DDs to have superior influence to BBs or cruisers, then you shouldn't have a problem with CVs having superior influence than DDs. Regardless of whether you have a problem with it or not tho, it's an inevitability when it comes to asymmetrical role distribution anyway. Classes that can e.g. scout are inevitably more powerful than classes that can't. And unless you plan on giving all classes equal scouting capabilities that will not change. Personally I've seen far more default losses caused by DDs than by CVs, that stuff can be decided even before the match starts via team composition. 3 Shimas on one side and Haru/Gearing/Grozo on the other? Have fun with that. Besides, if the match influence of CVs were the only problem then there'd be no need to throw CV play completely on its head. After all WG is hardly afraid of nerfing CVs. And I guess the opinion of those who have never progressed past T5 on CVs to experience true CV play is equally worthless? As for your so called facts, this is why CVs dominate so hard in competitive play, eh? Or why AA divs are so ineffective at locking out the enemy CV regardless of skill? Oh wait. Defending against an enemy CV is among the easiest things you can ever hope to accomplish once you know how they play. Quite frankly aircraft barely even bother me when playing DDs, they become a nuisance at best in BBs and I pray for CVs every match when playing cruisers just to farm plane kills. Have you ever perhaps considered that they who play CVs are fine with CVs because they know how to play against them? It's why I started playing CVs in the first place. As for Flamu, he only has experience with bullying people in randoms with CVs in the current meta that is catered to the lowest common denominator, same with a lot of CV players. He has likely never experienced getting locked out of a match completely by only one or two ships or competitive play when everyone and their mother specializes in AA. Thus he only sees CVs dominate, he has never seen them getting locked out. And while he casts competitive play he never really pays attention to what the CVs are doing or how hard they're getting trashed. I'm not saying CVs are fine in their current state. They're most definitely not. But they're not nearly as powerful as most of the playerbase would have you believe. -

Honestly you can argue both sides as they're both true. The game is becoming simpler but also more diverse, meaning game mechanics for veterans get simplified while newcomers are being crushed under the weight of having to learn what each individual line can do (without guidance from the developer) or potentially face the consequences in the field. Or in other words the skill floor & ceiling are being lowered while the amount of crucial self-taught information has vastly increased. -
Check the side. It clearly has the small viewports which will also exist inside. The operator will simply have to look through both the viewports AND the windows. And yes, it was done so in real life if the conning tower wasn't directly exposed. Example on the Iowa:

If you check the conning tower of other ships you will realize that they too have tiny viewports. Because having large gaps in your conning tower, aka one of the most heavily armored sections of a ship, kinda fails the point about it being armored.

Meh, the more likely option is that they're gonna go the GZ route. Just make everyone a target so that BB Kevin can finally play CVs. Remember that the primary goal as stated by WG time and time again is to make CVs more popular. It's pretty much the only consistent thing that they've so far said about why they're reworking CVs. You don't make something more popular among the playerbase that WG caters to by making it balanced as we've seen time and time again. And if anyone thinks that a community test is going to fix things, just a friendly reminder that GZ was "community balanced" as well. Did they listen to the experienced players telling them "Oh yeah, this is bad, don't do that"? Nah, they listened to the average who couldn't stop screaming "OMG IT'S NOT POWERFUL/EASY ENOUGH". Look where that led us to. Quite frankly neither WG nor the average player is interested in balancing the CV rework the right way. On the bright side it does look like reworked CVs will be especially capable of punishing camping, far more so than current CVs do. That's gonna put WG in a bind. Listen to the average BBaby inevitably whining about it or risk murdering CVs once again and fail the goal of the rework? I'll be sure to prepare enough popcorn for such a spectacle. -

Kind of a moot point considering you can send your squad back and launch a new one at any time, no? I can already imagine some very cheesy scenarios such as - approach AA cruiser - cruiser uses DFAA - send squad back, launch a new one - new squad arrives within a minute, long after DFAA has run out The new shown CV mechanics are ironically all to the detriment of surface ships. It's gonna be interesting to see how WG will attempt to balance them, if only to watch it all burn down in the end. -

Subs would most definitely necessitate a complete overhaul as they push additional roles on already overloaded classes while the most popular and easy to play class still has no other role than damage farming and soaking. Imagine if you had to do ASW in addition to scouting, fighting for caps, fighting enemy DDs, fighting pushing ships while evading radar cruisers and so forth and so on. All the while BBs are screaming "OMG SUB THERE LOOK MINIMAP GO KILL HIM NOOB DD!!1111". Quite frankly it'd make DD play impossible. -

Meh, as long as you kill the majority, if not all of the enemies you're golden I believe. The game isn't that difficult to begin with, in my experience spending a ton of points or getting rare equipment just turns missions from mildly challenging to an utter cakewalk.

The thing is that if you don't care about the ratings you can just enjoy the game. Main selling point imo is the storytelling which is done beautifully (although the story in itself is nothing groundbreaking). The balance is really meh in terms of some characters being far more useful than others, but this is a game I played for the plot and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Makes for poor replay value tho. Still if you already have it or can grab it on sale it's a stellar one-time experience.

Not particularly surprising I suppose but funny nonetheless. Also "you can outclick your opponent". Really WG? I suppose maybe I could if your garbage UI would support it. It's nice to know that even the game design department has never played CVs. One thing to note in terms of refunds: They specified "ingame compensations", so probably doubloons and such. No real money refund. Whether this choice of words was deliberate or not is ofc debatable, but imo it likely is. Not surprising either. Min torp spread is about the size of a Yamato. That's not too bad. You have RAWKETS for lolibotes anyway. Though Jesus Christ 40k damage with 4 torps + 3 floods. I know this is still in testing but it's not exactly hard to tell that this would be WAY excessive as you could literally two-shot high tier BBs and pretty much oneshot everything else. Unless ofc they want it to be that way. Which would be rather hilarious considering they cited that CV alpha strike was a problem.
