    CV Rework Discussion

Wanna know something? This was pretty much the case in CBT when CVs were almost purely focused on striking (fighters were useless as strafing didn't exist). Wanna know how to prevent it? By making teammates cuddle your CV for almost the entire match duration. And if you didn't have teammates to do that you'd be almost guaranteed to lose as CVs were much, MUCH more powerful than they are now. That it wasn't a very fun experience for said teammates would be an understatement.

    Matchmaking is broken

Already impossible as you've failed to display maturity by whining about certain ship classes and putting on your tinfoil hat regarding MM. Also you have an insufficient sample of games to be of any statistical use regarding divisions. Thus there is only one thing left to say:
  3. Thing is that I've never seen morale drop to yellow unless I grind super hard (while blowing through a huge chunk of my oil reserves) and that's without any part of my main fleets being in the dorm. Maximum morale without dorm is 120, any individual battle in a map deducts only 2 while sinking lowers it by 10. (Doesn't apply to exercises.) With dorm it goes up to 150 with over 120 morale giving a 20% exp bonus. This is imo the only real benefit, you decide whether it's worth the 500 gems. Heard that the other regions are more grindy than CN so it could very well be on EN. Yellow morale starts at 30 and goes down to 1, the only penalty is that ships no longer gain affection after a battle. Red morale is 0, losing affection per battle and coming with a -50% exp penalty. Default morale recovery is 20/h. The dorm gives you 40/h recovery on the first floor and 50/h on the second. Married ships gain an additional 10/h bonus. So technically speaking without the dorm bonus you could play 60 battles with a fleet before you should stop. 45 battles if you want to gain affection while doing so. Not sure how much you play AL but personally I'm not even close to hitting 0 morale even during events, thus, again, it'd come down to the 20% exp bonus that the extra morale provides. Juicy to be sure, but 500 gem juicy? Considering you have a ton of content coming up I'd get extra dock space instead. Unless ofc you are planning to spend a bit of money for extra gems on the game anyway. ಠ_ಠ
  4. Yeah, that's a joke at best. One CV literally can't kill a well played AA ship unless using meme bombs which are broken. A T10 CV gets two full reloads worth of bombers and that's it, given sufficient time a CV is only going to run out of aircraft and nothing else. You know, contrary to the rework where CVs will likely be able to kill ships with impunity. Not sure why you're praising it when you're damning its fundamental concept. And if people do play that way or just have a single AA ship covering them CVs become pure scouting platforms, making your point moot. Heck, "sticking together" should be easy for anyone with two working braincells. Too bad even that is too high of a requirement. That's a whining at its finest. It can be literally used for anything in the game. Basic examples: - The very argument to "use radar" is testimony to how much more powerful DDs are. - The very argument to "just bait it" is testimony to how broken DFAA is. - The very argument to "focus fire" is testimony to how BBs are too tanky. Or to extrapolate it to other games: - The very argument to "just scout" is testimony to how much more powerful cheese is to conventional macro strategies. - The very argument to "use smoke grenades" is testimony to how much more powerful snipers are. - The very argument to "just hold shift" is testimony to how the bullet pattern is too dense. etc. etc. etc. The only difference is that in other games whiners get ridiculed as the devs actually balance around skilled play and don't give a darn about potatoes that don't even understand the very basics.
  5. Indeed actually. They could've e.g. put Gearing lower in the water like the YY to make her a smaller target. Or give her the experimental USS Timmerman upgrade which would put her at over 40kn to alleviate her speed problems. The latter would make Shima even more obsolete than she already is tho, but then again Shima needs a complete overhaul anyway so who cares.
  6. 2nd floor only recovers morale, it doesn't give the passive exp gain. Considering you need to pay 500 gems for it you don't really need it imo.
  7. To be fair you're not playing any of the fat DDs that are prone to get full or even double pens from BB AP (at least not that I can see). Gearing is the shining example of one as she's the ultimate combination of slow, fat and sluggish thus presenting a fairly easy target for BBs even at mid range. Is this worth dumbing down the game? Meh, debatable to say the least. I think it's a good change per se, but I'm worried about how it'll interact with other planned changes such as the radar and CV rework. Then again the CV rework looks like it'll already murder the out of DD play, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  8. It's even more niche than on PC tho, thus having far less potential to make money for WG. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
  9. So they basically limited BB AP to overpens only on DDs. Funny it took them so long when it should've been the first solution to test.
  10. Secondaries and AA guns, great. Torp bulges tho? Eh, kinda torn on that one. Curious as to whether this affects French spaced armor as well.

    Rework of CVs

Reworked CVs have far fewer counterplay options than current CVs. Have you even paid attention? Nah, that only says that you're not nearly as good as you think.
  13. You don't have to place items into the dorm to increase happiness, they'll do it automatically the moment you purchase them. Used to be like that, wasn't exactly popular so it got removed. This way you can decorate your dorm anyway you like.
  14. There is only one CV with 3 DB squads and they will melt under DFAA from a Worchester or a DM. Ironically that is also the only CV to be "community balanced" to date. Creates a lot of hope for the rework, no? However most people don't even know how to use DFAA correctly. Recently had an AAO guy waste his DFAA on my empty DBs that were clearly on a return path. Or an OM guy waste his DFAA on a fighter that was killing a spotter plane. If people from top clans don't even know when to press their I-win-button that says a lot about average player skill, really. Besides, AP bombs are universally acknowledged as broken. We don't. However a viable counter exists and that's all that matters. Human factor is supposed to decide games and if the human factor decides not to use such counters, they deserve to be punished for it. If a BB shows broadside, shouldn't they be punished for i- OH WAIT. Weird really, considering most CV players play all other classes as well and somehow have no trouble playing against CVs. I'm curious as to what the "HE spam solution" is? Never heard of it. Simple, because CVs have the highest reload time by far. If you want to strike a target across the entire map we're easily talking about 7+ mins of reload. That's almost a third of the max match time. Weapons are balanced on an individual basis, not against each other. Alpha strike, reload time, range, accuracy, counters, DoT, all of these factors are taken into account individually. For example DD HE shells have a fast reload along with good accuracy and can't really be countered, so they have to have low alpha strike, low DoT chance and range. BB AP shells on the other hand have a slow reload, no DoT capability, low accuracy and can be countered fairly easily by angling, so they have huge alpha strike and range. Aircraft have the longest reload by far and the easiest counter, so they get decent alpha strike and DoT, high accuracy and practically unlimited range but the latter automatically lengthens the reload so it's a non-factor.
  15. All furniture does, tho that also depends on how much happiness you already have. The higher your happiness is, the more furniture it requires to raise. For example I have 431 and I can buy out entire collections without it rising.

    Consumables and AA not working

Don't. AA mounts have incredibly low HP values. Doubling that still means they're gonna get oneshot by any HE shell that hits them. It has been proven in testing that the upgrade is worthless when it comes to AA survivability.
  17. - watch the clock - watch the minimap - stick with teammates - use cover - use concealment - use consumables in a correct fashion - ask for fighter cover - use mouse and WASD correctly - spec at least AA range and AFT in anything but DDs Among other things. The survivability of a CV is measured in plane reserves, not in the HP of the hull. That's how you deal with CVs. The notion that you cannot deal with the source of the attack is hilarious at best in that regard.

Alpha channel & color in chat

Changes to the UI in general never happened, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Okay, except that one time when they reduced the reaction time a bit but introduced a ton of bugs, many of which persist to this day.) @OP: Yeah, the apocalypse is more likely to happen than WG improving the UI.
  19. When you think you've default lost due to throwing teammates but the enemy team throws harder.
  20. Far too complicated for the average player. BB Kevin needs to be able to play CVs, so the rework will be done accordingly. With such a rework you'd be catering to an entirely different target audience than WG. Not bad per se but it also means they'll never take your points under consideration.
  21. The amount of Grozos I kill without them activating DFAA contradict that statement. :P Seriously, you can ignore the human factor up until people actually don't know how to play the game, at which point you have failed as a developer as you did not provide enough guidance. Fact is most people, even a good chunk of "good" players, do not know how to play against CVs which is the primary reason as to why they're so dominant. That you have to "unlock" the true AA potential of a ship through upgrades and skills doesn't help either.
  22. Then I guess every ship should get radar because hoping your radar cruisers are actually good is futile?
  23. I hope you're joking. Killing half the enemy team with a strike each under perfect conditions would take 18 minutes for faster servicing and 24 minutes for slower servicing ones barring use of meme bombs which are widely acknowledged as broken. And once you get spotted you're pretty much guaranteed to die. If the enemy CV is able to aggressively take caps then you deserve to lose. And quite frankly the great majority of your team should probably uninstall. The very concept of what you're saying is absurd. Again, CVs aren't nearly as powerful as most people like to believe. So because something more powerful exists, it is okay for DDs to be more powerful than BBs/cruisers? Remember what I said about hypocrisy? Besides, DDs can actually contest objectives and have much higher staying power. Counters to DDs are also at the mercy of MM whereas counterplay options against CVs almost always exist. The presence of a counter is important, what the playerbase does with it is not. Balance is to give contestants (in this case the two teams) roughly equal chances of winning outside of the human factor.
