Wow yeah, WG is surely reworking CVs just to with you and for no other reason.

CV Player - How to get on to test server ? Part 2
El2aZeR replied to AirSupremacy's topic in Archive
You only need that icon if you're not logged in. If you're logged in just skip to step 2 and go to the game settings. -
Sounds good. Calling @MrConway @Crysantos @Tuccy to please forward this to the dev team? :)
-
Nah. But then again I generally don't use RPF as I can usually guess where a DD is by simply watching the minimap and predicting what I would do next in a DD.
-
The CV test client is not the public test client. Instructions on how to install the CV test client can be found here: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/general-news/carriers_rework_starting_pack/

No, I mean why are you using spoilers for everything rework related?
-
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. So I guess TAE allows you to indefinitely spam TBs then? Why spoiler everything btw?
-
In the rework long and mid range AA can be dodged while low range AA is RNG (damage is fixed, accuracy is RNG) according to last info (dunno if it still holds true tho). Thus I see no reason to nerf DP AA any further.
-
But isn't that moot anyway considering you can launch a new one immediately after your current squad has expended all ordinance?
-
Honestly I had hoped that full AA builds would be a thing of the past considering how hard the concept has already failed. So much for that. Certainly doesn't seem as excessive as it is now tho so that's something I guess. TAE -100% service time for TBs? I thought service times don't exist anymore unless it's just the service time when your squad is wiped? I also assume that AS -10% recovery time is the amount of time it takes for your attack to reset and not the time it takes to recover aircraft as that doesn't exist anymore? From the looks of it I'd build my CV like this: - T1 Fast Aiming : +15% aiming speed for all squad types - T2 Improved Engine : +5% plane speed - T2 Adrenaline Rush : +0.1% plane speed for each 1% plane hp loss - T3 Survivability Expert : +50 hp / plane / tier - T3 Air Armour : -10% damage taken from short range AA - T4 Air Supremacy : -10% aircraft recovery time ; +2 planes per squad - T4 Concealment Expert : -10% detectability for all ship classes and air groups Not sure if TAE is worth it considering I thought service times get eliminated anyway. DE remains lackluster. Last Spurt seems completely useless unless one plane can deal ridiculous damage.

Ranger is T6 now. To say I'm intrigued is an understatement. Inb4 Yorktown or Wasp? -
https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/general-news/carriers_rework_starting_pack/ CV rework public testing has started. - CV players who previously received mail have priority - No NDA, but note that everything is preliminary - T6 and T10 ships available - Economy is adjusted so that it's impossible to only play CVs - Ranger gets bumped down to T6

That's not exactly mutually exclusive. And considering how much they've listened to suggestions from us on how to fix CVs.... Yeah, safe to say they don't particularly care. -
You can use the range upgrade to extend her range up to 18km which is more than sufficient. Reload is higher than Balti because you get an extra turret which more than makes up for it if you use it well. The base range is short due to balancing reasons. USN 203mm guns have improved bounce angles and good penetration capability that are deadly to most cruisers at any but the highest of ranges. HE performance isn't bad either.

Well, yes and no. Sure, the base theoretical AA values are better, but note that it shifts the majority of DPS into squishy mid-range mounts. Considering the amount of HE spam this ship will meet and suffer from that could actually be a pretty harsh nerf in terms of AA in a real combat scenario. Did the ship need this change? Eh, doubtful to say the least. -

Honestly the CV rework kinda displaces DDs entirely anyway. I mean, is there truly any reason to play a DD over a reworked CV? A reworked CV has - much higher scouting potential and flexibility - much higher damage potential, accuracy and reliability - much higher "survivability" The only thing that CVs can't do is capping and that's a moot point because as soon as a DD starts a cap RAWKET aircraft will appear half a minute later for a free kill. -
Makes sense I suppose considering ranged AA is somewhat useless now anyway.

Because as we all know guaranteed DoT on ships will never kill anyone and result in low damage totals. Here's the deal: Reworked CVs with their inherent concept will outdamage current CVs easily. I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone manages 200k average damage. Or to put it this way: With 4 attacks per squad I can for example set 2 perma floodings on 2 different BBs. That's what, at least 100k guaranteed damage farmed within around two minutes? Also while global spotting isn't a thing anymore, localized spotting becomes impossible to deal with. And that's only if WG fails their goal of removing all MM limitations from CVs. 3 CVs spotting the whole map and killing things with impunity is still a very real possibility. Again, ignorance is bliss, no? -

Meh, most CVs are actually dumb enough to attack the same target over and over again regardless of result. Also, again, meme bombs are broken. We never asked for this, we've told WG how stupidly broken they are. Which ofc meant to WG that AP bombs are perfectly fine because "LALALALALALA WE'RE NOT LISTENING TO YOU". Short version: Fix the UI, normalize AA and aircraft performance, remove auto drop, limit the number of BBs and DDs to guarantee sufficient AA coverage, force cruisers to take DFAA by either giving it to them for free or removing hydro and implement some god proper tutorials. As for the rework, looks fun for a short term gig, wether long term motivation can be mustered remains to be seen. Can't imagine how it's supposed to be balanced tho especially since reworked CVs are to be used in CBs as well. -

116 planes in a Midway, of which approx. 50 are strike plane reserves. If I lose 10 planes, I lose 20% of my "HP" and cannot attack again for the next 5 minutes which is a quarter of total match time. Also reworked CVs have unlimited plane reserves and can recall and launch a new squad at any given time. The gameplay is completely risk free unlike current CVs. Ignorance is bliss, isn't it? -

Ironic considering this is often more than sufficient to keep CVs off your back even in something as "bad" as a Zao if used correctly. BFT and MAA is a waste of points most of the time and only taken if you want to especially with CV players or want to deny plane spotting as well. Had an enemy Midway try to drop @Saiyko in his Zao today, a bit of WASD and DFAA usage wiped out all enemy TBs without any damage sustained. (Until that potato BB camping in enemy spawn landed a citadel on him ofc.) -

Which is balanced out by abysmal staying power. Aircraft are a one and done weapon, they cannot attack repeatedly without suffering a lengthy reload. And while the scouting situation has become rather dire, it's nothing that can't be fixed with a few simple tweaks. Make empty aircraft only capable of spotting for a few more seconds after they've dropped, make fighters completely incapable of spotting something that isn't shooting at them, voila. In the rework you won't be able to be in multiple places at once, true. But on the other hand it's not really needed as your staying power is actually much better than other ships due to being practically risk free with unlimited plane reserves and the ability to recall and launch a fresh squad at any given time. Wrong, a CV only needs a single AA ship to defeat. That's no different than radar. And if you don't have radar available suddenly you need multiple ships to chase down and trap a DD that is otherwise pretty much invulnerable. Or alternatively you need a DD on your own, but all classes are most adept at fighting each other. It's largely the same situation. And I have blown up plenty of them. Best one I remember was a Worchester that didn't even know what DFAA is which was hilariously sad. Heck, even members of top clans heavily misuse DFAA, I already mentioned the AAO guy who used DFAA on returning empty DBs or the OM guy using DFAA on fighters. Still if played CORRECTLY an AA ship is nigh untouchable by a CV with the usage of broken meme bombs being the only option. I can't really blame these people either as CVs are rare and most of them are as stupidly worthless as the majority of the playerbase, thus trying to gain experience against skilled CV players can practically not be done without picking up CVs yourself. But that is a problem with CVs how? Wouldn't that imply that the problem lies with BBs and AA skills? Fix BB overpopulation, balance AA around base values instead of forcing someone to choose whether he's a target for one of the supposed core mechanics of the game or not, boom, problem solved. No, if anything 3 player CV divs show the viability of AA as a counter, limited only by a specific sub-class (which is kinda stupid) and having to pick AA skills (which is incredibly stupid). When playing against a skilled enemy AA div I can easily deny the enemy CV regardless of how skilled he is due to the fundamental limitations of CVs. Still means I can't do jack against his team as he has AA ships covering all relevant flanks. Nah, the "problem" lies elsewhere. I play 3 player divs with two potatoes (rl friends) which can barely or not even reach 50% WR, I still achieve a 70%+ WR with them regardless of ship class. The "problem" with 3 player divs is skill and the ability to pick ships that synergize best with each other, which quite frankly shouldn't be nearly as big as an issue as it is due to abysmal average player skill. -
