Which are completely meaningless because you're comparing ships of completely different categories. This is like saying Gearing has worse shell arcs/speed than Khabarovsk. That is a fact, great. So what? Gearing occupies an entirely different niche, thus the comparison holds no value. And other torpedo DDs present a smaller target profile, are more maneuverable/faster AND have decent guns. if she needs them or not is subjective, fact remains that she doesn't have them whereas other DDs of a similar role do. You can nitpick all you want, fact remains Asashio is one of the worst torpedo DDs out there in terms of handling and speed. If you want to compare Asashio to gun DDs then she loses by default by account of her horrible guns. No amount of maneuvering will save you if you deal pitiful damage.

I mean ships that primarily use torpedoes as their anti capital ship armament. That makes them torpedo boats, otherwise you'd end up comparing Asashio to only the Kagero which is completely ed. This is funny because the ships I listed are faster, more maneuverable AND have far better guns. This makes Asashio just plain bad in comparison. The other ships are played in an entirely different way. E.g. Kiev despite being bigger and more sluggish is less likely to take hits as she is much faster and can play the distance. To compare these is laughable at best. Ruddershift is mediocre, it is also less effective due to the huge turning circle and slow speed. Turning circle is just plain bad for a torpedo boat, not mediocre. Speed likewise is not "slightly below average" but plain bad. There is a single ship that's slower. Her size remains average. Considering dispersion is calculated vertically when shooting at a running target Asashio presents a bigger target profile than other torpedo boats. It's amusing how you are trying to twist hard facts to suit your narrative.

I got VC4 during the Halloween sale. Still not done with my first playthrough after 26 hours played. -
Average length of torpedo boats (Lightning, Hsienyang, Asashio, Benson, Z-23, Kagero, Ognevoi): ~115m Average beam of torpedo boats: ~11m Asashio is thus 3m longer and 0,7m slimmer than your average torpedo boat. When moving away your length counts quite a big deal since, you know, your enemy is actually shooting FORWARD of you and dispersion is more likely to scatter your shells vertically rather than horizontally.
-
No, it does. It doesn't matter how much you're trying to avert your eyes from the truth. Or if you've missed it: - mediocre ruddershift - bad turning circle - bad speed - typical DD size, substantially longer than most but slightly slimmer Yeah, right. Maybe you should start playing a high tier DD that's actually more maneuverable.
-
And once again omitting an important factor, namely speed. Here's some news for you, the more your enemy has to aim forward, the better your chances of throwing him off. And the faster you are the faster you can clear your turn. So in reality Gearing is among the slowest turning DDs on T10 which makes her an easy target for anyone who actually has half a brain. Too bad however that this can't be said about 90% of the playerbase.
-
So if one of the slowest, most unmaneuverable DDs is sluggish every DD is sluggish. Okay then.
-
Asashio actually turns slower than Gearing which is already considered sluggish at best, the latter possessing superior ruddershift and speed while turning circle remains the same. So no, by all means Asashio isn't maneuverable nor a difficult target to hit. Again, if you can't outduel an Asashio you shouldn't be playing this game.
-
No, that's actually very bad. 640m is on the upper end and most of them aren't torpedo boats anyway and rely more on speed which they actually have. I've played plenty of Gearing which is slightly better in speed and maneuverability. And while Gearing is many things, fast or maneuverable she is not. And yes, I can dodge plenty of things in a Gearing, which again says more about the ability of the average player than the Gearing.
-
And a 640m turning circle. Same as a Gearing, one of the most sluggish DDs out there. Nice how you omit facts and only choose to display those that do not contradict your narrative.

Maybe you will face reality one day.

Hardly surprising considering the amount of potatoes.

Which still makes her slow and sluggish. Which says absolutely nothing about the Asashio and more about how incompetent your opponent was. If you are having trouble outdueling an IJN DD in a DM you should uninstall. That this happens frequently is a testament to how abysmal the average player has become, not how good the Asashio is.

You can also try more unconventional ways of communication like Facebook. Mobile game companies tend to use these for Customer Support, too. -
Or, again, maybe the people you're playing against more often than not are just braindead? I mean I recently had to explain to a Shimakaze that the Yugumo is not a gunboat. I'm not even joking. Got chatbanned for that too. Congratulations! You have found the DDs that are even less maneuverable and present an even bigger target than Asashio. Thus being able to dodge better in an Asashio compared to these DDs would only be the logical assumption. Now imagine if you'd play any other DD which are both faster and more maneuverable than the Asashio. Guess what happens then?
-
Ah, I knew I forgot something. Still, Akizuki at least has strengths to make up for it. IJN torp DDs have literally nothing.
-
Asashio, along with all other IJN DDs, is neither fast nor maneuverable nor does it have a slim silhouette (in fact I'm pretty sure Asashio is the slowest and most sluggish DD on her tier). It can get chased down or alternatively avoided without a scratch by pretty much every single one of her contemporaries. She may have better concealment but the advantage is often moot in any real combat scenario as Asashio, and again any other IJN DD, is fundamentally incapable of capitalizing on it. It's only useful if you're running a near parallel course to your enemy which is almost never going to happen given the confrontational nature of this game, meaning that usually you will either run head on into an enemy DD, at which point you will die, or he will chase you, at which point he can just slow down to fade back into concealment if you have backup. Some basic situational awareness will tell you what to use in the given situation. And no, you will never be able to chase down anything because you are one of the slowest DDs in the game. A friggin' Gearing is faster and more maneuverable than you. The only reason why people can excel with IJN DDs in general is because the great majority of people playing this game is braindead. On the off chance that your enemy isn't completely incompetent however you're out of options.

Since I got nothing to do while dinner is cooking I thought I'd follow up on the previous massive CV post and compile a list of ships vulnerable to AP bombs. Afaik no such list exists as a topic though I made a few in the past. Please note that this only concerns USN AP bombs. Graf Zeppelin AP DBs can citadel almost every single cruiser and BB in her MM spread as the thread I referred to above already states. First I'll divide this into three categories: High vulnerability - Ships listed here are liable to get instantly killed from full health by two, if not just one squad. Partial vulnerability - Ships listed here will take citadel hits from time to time but are unlikely to take fatal damage unless at low health. Oneshots are technically possible but extremely unlikely. Immunity - Ships are either invulnerable to citadel hits or take one once in a blue moon. May still take a good amount of penetration damage depending on armor. I'll only list ships that can actually see AP bombs in their MM spread and the first two categories though for (I'd hope) obvious reasons. Ships classified as BBs are underlined for my own personal amusement. High vulnerability Partial vulnerability Couple more notes on the subject: - CVs usually don't take citadels but do take pretty high penetration damage - partially vulnerable cruisers are most likely made so due to bombs hitting their conning tower, rapid maneuvering will help mitigate or completely eliminate such a chance - highly vulnerable cruisers should only use DFAA in defense of their teammates if they have sufficient backup, that particular teammate is of high importance or know that AP DBs won't be coming for them. Please keep in mind that a single full USN DB squad is often enough to straight up kill you If I've missed anything let me know.

Moving storm fronts have been added to the game fairly recently. I honestly forgot what exactly they do but it does have impact on gameplay (I think it lowers your concealment and increases dispersion of ships firing at you or something along those lines)

Here, allow me to show you guys something that makes a lot more sense than what OP is saying:

Just because a ship is bad doesn't mean it can't perform especially considering how abysmal the average player is. The problem with the Asashio is the same as on any high tier IJN DD except Asashio at least has useful torps depending on the situation. And personally I've never found the concealment advantage of IJN DDs to be an issue in other DDs since a measly 400-500m advantage will practically never make itself felt in an actual combat scenario. So on the off chance that your enemy isn't braindead (which to be fair doesn't happen too often) the value of an Asashio diminishes rapidly since you're completely out of options at that point.

Plans for changing division matchmaking?
El2aZeR replied to RivvenDarke's topic in General Discussion
Kinda. Reworked CVs have no counters, so that'll "fix" this issue. After all you can't make AA divs if AA is worthless. This is hilariously untrue. You see, as a CV player you are ALWAYS in the position to force a stalemate with your opponent regardless of AA opposition. Enemy AA prevents you from striking, it does nothing about your fighters unless you're stupid. Effectively that means you're both reduced to spotting mules with neither side being capable of striking. A very good trade considering you're already being prevented from striking by the enemy AA ships. Not that many CV players are actually intelligent enough to play this way however. They'd much rather suicide their planes on enemy AA then complain about CV + AA divs.
