    To put it simply: Ryujo, Shokaku, Hakuryu, Ranger, Lexington and Midway are pure damage dealers. These will be available once the rework hits in 0.8.0. Zuiho, Hiryu, Taiho, Independence, Yorktown and Essex will be team supports of some kind. They will be made available sometime later on.

    The T5/7/9 CVs that get removed now will be introduced later on as an alternative branch. Preliminary pictures of how the tech tree will then look like have already been released. As for the gameplay concept of the alt branch, apparently they will be more focused on team support rather than pure damage dealing. Extinguishing fires, taking caps, laying smoke screens and, if necessary, ASW capability are a few of the possibilities given by the official dev post which can be found here: Personally I believe this will turn out to be a cluster just like the current CV rework.

    Which will be completely ineffective compared to someone that can manage multiple squads at the same time. Unless you make single squads super overpowered like they are in the current rework so that multitasking will not matter, but that'd make the RTS part moot.

    4-6-8-10 remain. 5-7-9 will get removed. The only real tech tree change is that Ranger is now T6 and Independence will get removed. Otherwise ships remain in the same positions as they are now.

    That would actually require even more skill, micro and map awareness than current CVs. Thus a mix of both RTS and reworked CV play is completely untenable. The goal of the rework is to increase CV popularity, not decrease it even further.

    Imo it was because there was a big question left open which is something that really annoys me. Then again there is a movie coming out so I'd guess that's intentional. Still an otherwise excellent show tho.
  8. Wait, isn't that bomb drop circle basically the same as the USN one except with more initial spread which will never matter anyway considering how long you can hold the dive? Aka extremely accurate, being smaller than a small BB is wide, with even more bombs to boot? Welp, guess I'll refund the entire IJN line for RN CVs.

    T4-6 have always been fairly reasonably populated with CVs. However since T4/5 do not have alt attacks and T6 CVs tend to get up tiered a lot most skilled CV players avoid these tiers, meaning that the population is even more potato than usual compared to other classes. So yeah, it has always been like this ever since alt attacks were removed from low tier CVs and low tiers were given protected MM.
  11. I swapped down to casual. Decided Type C Kouhyouteki wasn't worth having a harder time to farm Johnston. The setup can definitely clear easy tho if you can muster the nerves for it. U-W route is a viable option in casual btw (which is good because with this setup routing seems to be random between that and ZZ). The BB Princess doesn't hit nearly as hard as she does on easy.

    Better feast your eyes upon this: Why even use something other than rockets lol? Torps were only used to attack the CV as rockets are useless against armored flight decks. 12 TBs were lost to the CAP of the enemy CV, which means I lost a grand total of 4 rocket planes to enemy surface fire. Note that the "Damaged Modules" tab appears to be bugged. Rockets absolutely murder the out of AA guns, secondaries, torp tubes and DD main guns, engines and rudder. Outright destroying main guns/torp tubes on DDs in your second or third attack isn't uncommon. Heck, it can happen even on your first attack (which btw will hit 30 seconds into the match).

  16. Got AS. Cleared the boss, came down to Kawakaze nuking her in the night battle. Wouldn't read too much into it as I'm not on LD yet.

I use 2x LBAS fighter sweeps for that. 8 range is achievable for 5 range fighters if you have a Taitei. 6 range fighters can go the distance using a PBY. 3rd LBAS I use for ASW on node C and ZZ to pass the darned sub princess more safely. I may switch to CTF regardless though. Just got off routed to U btw despite fulfilling the conditions listed above.

    Very simple, in a 1vs4 a current CV is more likely to run out of planes or time than win the match. Even assuming it is possible to kill 4 ships with a strike each (already unlikely as even a full strike usually won't kill a BB barring the use of meme bombs against select targets) without getting deplaned (equally unlikely due to high tiers being populated by a plethora of strong AA ships), you're still gonna need at least 12 minutes to do it (that's under perfect circumstances which will almost never happen) at which point the enemy will likely either kill you, win by points/objective or win by time (unless ofc you yourself have a tremendous point lead but that'd imply the enemy team ed up hard). Winning against an even bigger number of enemy ships is basically impossible due to the same reasons. Contrary to popular belief it is tremendously difficult to win in a CV without the support of your team. The very reason why current CVs are the most influential class is because they are the best supports by far, take their team away and CVs ironically become the weakest class as they are fundamentally incapable of contesting objectives and/or kill enemy ships fast enough (assuming the enemy team is dumb enough to spread themselves thin against a single CV ofc). This is also one of the reasons why CV + AA divs can be so dominant as the CV will always have teammates to support. With reworked CVs you can practically guarantee a kill every 1 and a half minutes. That means a reworked CV has half the reload and far more firepower than current CVs with none of their weaknesses (as plane reserves have been eliminated, fighters have been weakened and AA is completely worthless). Thus you can literally negate the enemy point income even if they hold the cap advantage and kill them faster than they can win by time and/or objective. And to add insult to injury reworked CVs even have far more hull survivability than their RTS counterparts could ever dream of. So unless the enemy CV is roughly equally good or superior there is nothing the enemy team can do to stop you. The rework is the buff of a lifetime for CV players that can exploit the new mechanics. Quite honestly if I were interested in making CVs as overpowered as possible, the rework would come extremely close to my vision.
  20. Yeah, that's what I would do. Wiki page lists two viable compositions for that although apparently ZZ routing still isn't guaranteed with it. Personally I went with the STF. Currently running this to test the waters as I just unlocked ZZ node: May change it up later on depending on the results.

    It won't. If anything CV play just became a lot more radical. Failures will fail even harder while skilled players dominate in ways you can't even imagine. A reworked CV is literally never in danger of losing unless the enemy CV is roughly equal or superior in skill. Neither caps nor surface ships have any kind of value when a reworked CV is in play. I've literally played matches in which I had to go 1vs4 all the way up to 1vs7. To say that the enemy team had no chance of winning is an understatement.

  23. Dunno why borderhumping is looked down upon? The target intentionally makes itself easier to hit, most people just don't seem to know how to aim at a borderhumping ship for some reason. Personally I have no issues with hitting ships sliding along the border. The only class with which borderhumping gets annoying is CVs thanks to stronk UI, though I highly doubt some of the people here have suddenly developed sympathy for the issues of CVs.
