    Ladies and gents, today is the day. One last day to enjoy RTS CV play. The majority of the playerbase hates us, WG neglected and outright ignored us. But despite such adversity we chose to continue on our path and learn the intricacies of this class, rising heads and shoulders above the whiny s that would rather see it removed. Yes, it is clunky, buggy and has plenty of problems, but it is not without its own charm. And it all ends today. To those who look for greener pastures elsewhere, it has been an honor. And to us who choose to once again persevere, I wish good fortunes in the damage farming that is to come. *stands up and raises a glass, the waifu following suit* One last toast to us! The oldschool CV captains!

    This bug has been in this game since CBT. Hardly surprising considering there is no reliable way to reproduce it at least as far as I know.

    To follow up on this, I just watched this from NoZoup: He says it's hard to hit DDs with rockets and that reworked CVs are even possibly in need of buffs. I knew the credibility of some CCs is abysmal but dayum, this just takes it to a whole other level.

    I just checked. Currently a Z-52 has the following base AA: 128mm guns - 5km range, 45 dps 55mm guns, 5km range, 52 dps 37mm guns, 3.5km range, 72 dps All in all 169 dps at 3.5km. That's pretty much the same base mid range AA that Helena gets (165 dps total at 3.5km, at 2km the 20mm guns add another 60 dps to that). Won't discourage T9/10 CVs ofc but T8 CVs might suffer if you choose to invest into AA. Which for a DD is ofc impractical for the most part.

    Boy, you wish. Potato CVs are even more useless now because they can't WASD, aim or do anything really aside from wasting planes. Even DD AA will utterly demolish them. Skilled CVs just murder everything. Basically it will come down to whether or not your CV can kill the enemy team faster than the enemy CV can kill yours.

    The base values were always pretty decent as far as I remember. I'd have to check tho so don't take my word on it.

    Same thing I reckon. We didn't get premium ships during testing. iEarl stated in the recent Q&A session that lone wolves are supposed to get killed by CVs. That aspect of CV play really hasn't changed. In fact CVs became a lot stronger in this regard.

    Unless a CV flies into flak bursts DD AA is pretty much worthless anyway.

    Midway RFs with boost fly at about 1 km per second at an ingame speed of 260kn. That's almost Mach 3 irl. Also reworked CVs don't need to wait for their planes to return. As long as there are reserves available you can launch another squadron as soon as your last one expended all ordinance or you manually recall them.
  13. I was under the impression that flak bursts at 0:30 onwards have a red tint. It's admittedly a bit difficult to see as there are only single flak bursts and my squad gets wiped before a wall spawns. I wasn't sure whether he used DFAA either which is why I held off on recalling the squad. I could be wrong ofc.
  14. Don't think so. Imo the extra information is useless. The flak you need to dodge spawns in the direction you're going no matter how many ships are firing at you and you can deduce how fast your squad is dying by simply looking at the health bar.

    Kinda depends on what you consider easy. We all know the average player already fails miserably at mastering the ancient art of WASD, as such average CV players are actually more useless than current potato CVs as they just get torn apart even by DD AA. And that's far from the worst I've seen. My experience with other CV players during testing did not paint a pretty picture. There were players struggling to hit BBs with rockets. ROCKETS! THE most easy weapon to use in the entire game!

    Meh, depends on how far away you are from your teammates in relation to how far away you are from the CV. If you can run to your teammates in less than 30 seconds you were likely within AA cover to begin with. Also keep in mind that AA now requires line of sight. If someone is hiding behind an island while you're sailing around in front of it, they won't be able to shoot at any planes that are attacking you. And, well, if said AA cover consists of only a single AA ship the CV may elect to simply kill him instead before killing you.
  18. Seems good enough for me since setting DoTs is the thing you want in a USN CV. It's not like you have a lot of other options tbh. Your only real alternative would be CE.
  19. Because you fire a ton of rockets per attack, thus giving you a pretty substantial increase in practical fire chance even if the given value of 1% seems underwhelming at first.

    Not particularly well. Even with DFAA DDs can't muster the base DPS to significantly hurt planes that dodge all your flak bursts. At best you'll deny the last attack wing - at which point the enemy CV will just return 30 seconds later with a fresh squad to kill you.

    On the other hand AA is actually very punishing at what it does when you do not learn to avoid it and considering average player skill has (at least in my perception) consistently gotten worse over the years I'm rather skeptical about the learning capabilities of most of the playerbase to say the least. I mean, we already have plenty of posts in the PTS feedback thread where people complain about AA being unavoidable and generally too strong. (Not that I'm gonna agree with that ofc but then again I also play stuff like this so my standards are a bit different I suppose. ) I've also seen some stuff during testing that you probably would not believe. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
