This whole new concept of "CV" is a disaster.
El2aZeR replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
Total of 4 DDs still alive. The CVs were doing it wrong. Also enemy Shokaku seems to have had at least a decent match. -
Is there a way for player to know how he damaged/killed enemy aircraft (i.e. "FLAK" and/or "Continuous damage")?
El2aZeR replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Quite frankly I don't particularly see why differentiating between flak and continuous damage would help. Just apply a bit of logic to it. Players that cannot dodge the former get their squad killed anyway regardless of build, while building for continuous DPS is the only way to kill aircraft from those who can. And that is provided you have a sufficient base to work with (aka play a Mino/DM/Salem/Worcester/etc). If you do not all you can do is pray that the enemy CV is a potato.- 13 replies

Aircraft speed plays a part in AP bomb penetration at least when attacking sideways. Unsure if it is the same in a normal horizontal attack but I would assume so.

Red flak bursts are DFAA. Red machine gun tracers are reinforced sector. At least in my experience.
-
Visual feedback is red tracers being spewed at aircraft from the reinforced side.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

- die 5 minutes into the match because I was the only BB to cross the G line - still end up first on the scoreboard "BBs are too weak pls buff" -
This whole new concept of "CV" is a disaster.
El2aZeR replied to mantiscore's topic in General Discussion
To be fair this is extremely early into the rework. Most players haven't even reached the 20 battles in T4 CVs yet to get displayed on wows-numbers. Although I would be very much interested in seeing how many players abandoned low tier CVs after only a few games. I personally found T4 & 6 CVs to be dull to the extreme and can't for the life of me imagine having to grind my way to T8. -

CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls
El2aZeR replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
I actually found BB gameplay to be more fun without DDs in a match. You don't see me moaning and whining about that tho. Fact is fun is, ironically, the last thing that is relevant in a game, especially in a PvP one. Mechanics have to be fun to use, whether you have fun being interacted with by a mechanic is completely irrelevant. And yes, game designers are in fact some of the most sadistic people you will ever meet. -
I think you're misunderstanding me a bit. I'm explaining why 85% was the WR ceiling for the Enterprise while 70-75% was for e.g. the Midway. I'm not downplaying the impact of a pre rework (or post rework for that matter) CV on a match nor denying the reality of average playerskill.

Yes, it wasn't a fluke. I explained that previously. My point was that I was capable of maintaining 85% WR in the Enterprise but not in for example the Midway due to extenuating circumstances that have very little to do with the ship itself, namely a lack of skilled opposition in the air in addition to the usual lack of opposition from the surface. Combining that with a rather flexible loadout and the popularity of ships vulnerable to AP bombs and the expected end result is a higher potential WR ceiling for the Enterprise compared to e.g. the Midway despite the latter being far more powerful. (Also you could land in T6 matches in the Enterprise where there is practically no AA. )

Defensive AA.. Does it even do anything now?
El2aZeR replied to Riggerby's topic in General Discussion
AFT only buffs the damage of your flak bursts. That means it is great against potatoes but practically worthless against someone who can dodge. You be the judge of whether this is worth 4 points or not. -
Except it is solely because they cannot fight enemy CVs anymore. Surface ships are just as ed as they were previously. Also 70-75% was the general solo WR ceiling for CVs. If reworked CV players can rise to that again that'd mean literally nothing has changed. Again, my run in the Enterprise was a predictable exception, not the norm.

DFAA doubles your continuous DPS. That means if you have bad continuous AA DFAA won't really help you shoot down aircraft as double of nothing is still nothing. -
CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls
El2aZeR replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Except it depends entirely on the population of said classes. If you were to make this thread about DDs e.g. the results would be vastly in favor of DDs due to the fact that generally speaking most of us here on the forums actually play DDs. Very few players played CVs pre rework, so inevitably that means the amount of people who found enjoyment of CVs being in the game will be a lot lower than those who did. -
CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls
El2aZeR replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
Quite frankly the poll is inherently biased. It is your direct goal in any PvP game to ruin the fun of others by making your opponent lose. Naturally that means most people would prefer not to have an extra enemy type, especially when it is (or at least used to be) a mechanic that punishes bad play. If you were to ask the general playerbase in e.g. CS whether it is more fun to play without AWPs or with you can safely bet that most players will prefer to not have AWPs in play.- 85 replies

Kinda. Full AA builds on T10 AA ships generally let the first strike through then proceed to murder the squad. A CV can play around this by, well, only attacking once then abandoning the squad, kinda becoming a pseudo RTS CV in the process. So generally a full AA build only limits the amount of attacks you will suffer. It cannot deny an enemy CV completely. Some CVs (like Enterprise) also only need one attack to utterly cripple you. You judge whether this is worth it or not.

Had a Ryujo attack my Helena with AP DBs yesterday. I hit DFAA, fighter and turned him into my reinforced sector as soon as he came in range. AA was largely intact and I had BFT + AFT. Not one plane shot down and he killed me with citadels. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In my experience all AA below at least T9 is a joke even when full AA.

Do something about the “blast off into stratosphere” return thingy
El2aZeR replied to howardxu_23's topic in General Discussion
No. -
Enterprise 85% solo WR was due to special circumstances, namely: - barely any skilled CV players played T8 CVs due to the MM of the tier, often getting uptiered to T10 - the few that did usually played GZ which immediately put air superiority in my lap (I lost air superiority EXACTLY ONCE in all my Enterprise games and that was against an enemy Enterprise. Even then we basically deplaned each other) which means that whether the enemy had a chance of winning or not hinged almost entirely on their ability to counterplay me which rarely ever happened. Most of my losses were suffered due to my team being and that hasn't changed. Now that CVs cannot fight each other anymore their potential influence on the match has waned a bit - but only in so far that they can no longer deny the enemy CV. The expected WR ceiling will thus drop accordingly. I'd estimate a drop by ~5-10%. This says nothing about the potential match influence a reworked CV can have tho.

It has been mine playing CVs. Basically situations that were unwinnable previously are still unwinnable with one exception (being if your CV teammate is a potato you pretty much lose by default against two competent CVs). In all others CVs still dominate provided sufficient skill.

As I said, totally different game. Can't really be compared imo.
-
Judging by everything that I've seen WT does so much differently than WoWs that comparing them becomes meaningless, really. They have roughly the same premise but that's about where their commonalities end. Even basic mechanics such as aiming and movement are entirely different. Fact remains however that if you switch to WT to escape CVs in WoWs you're likely in for a rude awakening.
-
I must be imagining all these aircraft in this video. I thought it is common knowledge that WT started out as a combat flight sim. Anyway, just watch the video above then judge how much sense a CV would make in WT. It has nothing to do with realism but rather a limitation of the game's design. They could make playable CVs to act as spawn points for aircraft players or sth along those lines I guess but I highly doubt it would be much fun for the CV player.
