- 2 caps - 3 out of 4 DDs killed - 200k+ damage - Kraken, Confed and HC - more base exp than top scorer of the enemy team and it still isn't enough to carry the ing braindead BBabies hiding behind me over the finishing line. Literally every ing match I've played today either had us winning then BBs go throw or losing and BBs hiding behind me. And ofc they weren't punished for their play because BBs can still damage farm from 20km. WG should just remove this braindead class instead.

Strongly suggest to add the ability to cancel AA sector switching.

True. I'll leave a suggestion in the feedback thread. :) -

No you don't. While sector is switching your AA will still be reinforced on the side you previously chose. That means you can start switching when the CV starts his attack run and by the time he dropped his ordinance and flew to the other side your sectors will have switched. It's just a question of timing. Unless I missed something? -

You actually need to start switching sectors as soon as the enemy aircraft start their attack. It's a bit more micromanagement compared to previously but it works fine. The only problem I see is that a percentage increase in DPS doesn't particularly benefit ships that have bad DPS in the first place, but then again that has always been the case. -
Well, I just checked in the training room. They haven't done anything to Langley RFs so just spam those against DDs and cruisers. Getting 2k+ volleys shouldn't be particularly uncommon, which means you should be killing a same tier DD in about 4-5 attacks or so.

Also oh no, old AP bombs were broken. Nobody predicted that. And I distinctively remember WG telling us in a Q&A that old AP bomb performance was fine. Go figure. ¬_¬ Am I the only one who thinks MAA is actually pretty good for 4 points? -
CV's ... a radical proposal to resolve the mess
El2aZeR replied to Gojuadorai's topic in General Discussion
Only in theory just like removing BBs is an option. Practically speaking there is likely too much bureaucracy and pride on the line for that to ever happen. -
Nah, I'd prefer not to. Playing low tier CVs is painfully dull.
-
Your job as a low tier CV is to cruisers and DDs. Ignore the BBs until later when they have been sufficiently weakened. Because clearly we needed more stuff that s cruisers and DDs.
-
What I meant is that it is irrelevant in the game's design. Mechanics have to be fun to use, that they're not fun when you're being the target of one is not only irrelevant but intentional.

Apparently the "HotFix" for some of the most burning v0.8.0 CV (and other) issues is coming very soon!
El2aZeR replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but that kinda goes against the point of reworked CVs being damage farmers only. Previous CVs were spotters first and foremost, as such when they were completely denied by the enemy team (which happened. Not often, but it happened) they still had a role to play. Reworked CVs deal damage and deal damage only. If they're denied dealing damage then they become pointless. As such WG has created a situation in which there is no middle ground. If surface ships can reliably and easily deny CV strikes the CV is useless, if they cannot then the CV is too powerful. -
What do you like about patch 0.8.0?
El2aZeR replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Aircraft with only rockets hanging off of them should be able to pull that off no problem. Personally I would guess that whether a DB or TB can do that without losing its ordinance or wrecking the plane should be dependent on whether they carry their load internally or not, but I don't have hard data backing this up either so don't quote me on it. -
Whats the best AA ship to use now....??
El2aZeR replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
Generally speaking DM, Worcester and Mino are all capable of denying anything but a first strike on their own if you go for BFT + MAA and use the sector system correctly. HOWEVER you must not camp islands with them as that gives CVs a potential avenue to strike you safely without losses. -

Also @MrConway @Tuccy @Crysantos I'm interested in the policy regarding reworked premium CVs. Are they currently still covered under WG's policy to never directly nerf premium ships or are they considered WiP and thus subject to potential direct nerfs? Asking purely because I'm curious, I'm not going to kick off a storm if the latter happens to be the case. In fact, I'd welcome it. :) -

El2aZeR replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Lolwut? If anything "on the spot reversals" were more realistic than doing long turns. Not that I'm saying this should be in the rework (although maybe it would make for an interesting consumable @MrConway?) but if what you were saying is true I must've been playing Ace Combat wrong these last few days. -

I can already think of at least two ways to continue abusing safe recalls. This is where the concept shows its fundamental flaws. From a CV perspective if e.g. DPS of a single ship is strong enough to deny 2 out of 4 attack runs, then what is the point of having 4 potential attack runs in the first place? And why am I not sufficiently rewarded for avoiding all the flak? Shouldn't I be able to get all 4 attacks off if I successfully dodge all flak a surface ship throws at me? What is even the point of having flak if focus is shifted to DPS anyway? Meanwhile surface ships can ask themselves why they would even bother specializing into flak when they can just specialize into DPS. And when the enemy CV dodges all the automated flak that leaves no room for counterplay beyond maneuvering in an attempt to mitigate damage if focus is on the flak. Do not get me wrong, I believe this is a good change. But it clearly demonstrates why the CV rework in itself is a fundamental failure. That time is now. DO IT. -
That is probably because they are all playing behind island cover. That is no longer a viable strategy as it allows a CV to get extremely close as AA now relies on line of sight, bypassing some of your strongest AA. If you want safety from air strikes, you need to sail out in the open. But that ofc opens you up for the BBs inevitably all gunning for you.
-
You can't. WG replaced RTS CVs entirely with the new system.

Saipan only gets TiTs which are very meh against DDs, but Enterprise FFARs are glorious. 6-7k salvos aren't uncommon.

How to fix CV mess - a hybrid approach
El2aZeR replied to Zen71_sniper's topic in General Discussion
Hybrid approach is probably too complicated for the average potato and is thus not an option. Personally I think it'd be worth at least testing but I highly doubt it'll fulfill WG's desire of making CVs as popular as other classes. -
Fun is irrelevant in a PvP game. Your direct goal is to ruin the fun of your opponent. It is actually why most people play PvP games whether they'll admit it or not. Fairness is relative. The enemy team gets all the same tools as my team and me does by virtue of mirrored MM, as such skill decides the outcome of the match. And with the old system the entire enemy team had the option to counterplay me, not just the enemy CV. Hardly my fault they chose not to do so. As for the rework, the whining of people like you has led to this. I told you two years ago that with the direction the rework has taken it can only end in disaster, but ofc you didn't believe my "CV apologist ramblings" and kept on about how the rework will surely be a huge nerf for CVs. Well, here you have it. As far as I am concerned you're only getting your just deserts.
-
AP DBs have actually become quite complicated. E.g. dive speed actually affects penetration power. Generally speaking against targets with a lot of deck armor you want to drop high, against more lightly armored targets you want to drop low.
-
I play stuff like this: That should explain everything. :D
-
The gameplay is actually quite fun. In a different way than the RTS version ofc, but fun nonetheless. Doesn't change that the fundamental concept cannot be balanced in my eyes ofc but I gotta give credit where credit is due. And quite frankly reworked CVs are an even better tool to farm tears from the majority of the playerbase. And if there is one thing I utterly despise in this game, it is the average playerbase. Why do you think I played so many CV games previously?
