I like the original one better. Both look pretty good tho.

    Manual secondaries and AA

Clearly the average mobile user is much more proficient with game mechanics considering that they can already handle a smartphone. I wouldn't trust the average WoWs PC player to be able to do that.

Midway Torpedo Bombers - wtf Wargaming?

....That's a very good point actually. WG BUFF KIEV SECONDARY NOW!

I should warn you however that even with a larger effective reserve Enterprise isn't particularly easy to play. Careless losses still hurt very much and her DBs require very specific usage against different targets. Generally speaking you want to drop just as the reticle becomes accurate against BBs, wait a bit against more armored cruisers and hold your attack until time almost runs out against lightly armored ones. Or you can go for a side attack as demonstrated here: It takes some practice getting the hang of along with learning which targets are vulnerable to what. The attack clock is your best friend here, pay very close attention to that.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

It is literally the only news of the alt CV line we've gotten so far. They're clearly presenting ideas of how they could be made different. Air radar was considered highly advanced for its time and it would fit with more spotting capabilities. It is being heavily implied, whether it will make it through testing is another story. God, I hope not. Remember that they tested radar on RN BBs and the Grozo as well. WG clearly will consider every option no matter how stupid it is. The funny thing is now that WG is considering adjustments to premium ships this is no longer a valid argument. Not to mention that adjustments to RTS CVs could've done the job equally well. Also premium CVs remain more powerful than their tech tree counterparts. Overwhelmingly so in fact. E.g.you could easily make Enterprise T10 and adjust her plane HP upwards accordingly and she would give Midway a run for her money. So lets see, what has been solved? Skill gap? Still huge. Can arguably even be considered bigger than before. Impact on the match? Game deciding given sufficient skill. No change. Damage? No change here too. Alpha strike was replaced with DPM, overall damage potential is at least as powerful as it was before. Population? About the same as pre-rework. This may ofc change, as I stated before RN CV release will make or break it, but current numbers are not encouraging. Gameplay attractiveness? Has always been subjective. Many of these issues are tied with how the fundamentals of the rework have been conceived. As such attempting to fix them will inevitably break the class one way or another, thus this rework can hardly be considered even a partial success.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Well, it is one of the issues that have remained pretty much completely the same as before. Considering the rework set out to SOLVE said issues, not keep them, yeah, I'd consider that a failure. Question ofc is if that continues to be. RN CV release should really tell us everything. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/cv-rework-changes/ Air radar was considered pretty advanced I would say. Also it is incredibly ironic that spotting was considered an issue with RTS CVs yet here they are happily planning on giving CVs more spotting capabilities.

Midway Torpedo Bombers - wtf Wargaming?

Really, the only thing that annoys me about Midway TBs is that their predecessors sitting at T8 are functionally better in pretty much every way (and arguably the best TBs in the game right now). Imo WG should give up the 2 torps per plane gimmick and just make Midway TBs like Lex ones with more speed and health.

Air radar is something WG is already considering. I'm not even joking.

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Well, that's probably because the issues reworked CVs have are pretty much the same as RTS CVs had. Extremely hilarious (or sad depending on how you feel) if you consider that the rework set out to resolve said issues.

A lot of aspects, really. Spoilered for somewhat off topic wall of text:
  13. Because 1. you're already getting rewarded with amazing returns and 2. there is no skill involved whatsoever in secondaries killing targets (as in secondaries automatically fire at targets in range with no real player input). Which matters.... how exactly? Big target, oh no, see how much my armor and health gives a about that. Least mobile, that's a joke right there. BBs in high tiers and even some in mid tiers are just as fast as cruisers, meaning they switch flanks just as easily. Manueverability is either sufficient in case of roaming BBs or utterly irrelevant in case of bow camping ones. BBs are the least mobile only relatively speaking. Even the GK dodges torp spreads fired at any range beyond point blank with ease. Seriously, that ship is so ludicrously fool proof I stopped playing it after being hunted by 3 DDs and not taking a single torp. That's your benchmark for the least mobile BB right there. Stealth is easily negated. Stealth is powerful, to be sure, but the recent revival of CVs has proven that everyone has forgotten how to play without it. I've spec'd out of CE in almost all my BBs and can get by perfectly fine. In fact I never used it in KM BBs in the first place. There are ways to force more stealthy ships into attacking you or close the distance. And that's the most hilarious joke of all. Unless you get caught broadside at close range by another BB the enemy team is gonna spend 3-5 minutes focusing you before you can even consider dying. In fact, getting caught broadside isn't even a guarantee for crippling damage for most BBs nowadays. The amount of bull a high tier BB can survive simply by bowcamping would be hilarious if it weren't so sad. Said danger can often be negligible. In fact losing most or all of your squads in a marginally successful or failed AP DB drop was much more crippling than losing a bit of healable HP. Or tying up large parts of the enemy team for hilarious amounts of time. Or I can push/defend vital spots and watch my damage counter rise as my ship takes apart defenders/attackers without any input. Keeping distance often simply isn't an option. BBs already can exert hilarious amounts of map control, turning yourself into 11km of guaranteed nope is just straight up stupid. Lets pick hydro DDs, aka the KM DD line because quite frankly the RN DDs aren't particularly good at using hydro offensively. How is that balanced out? By incredibly bad damage potential in a class that isn't particularly good at dealing direct damage in the first place. Secondaries get added on top of the highest theoretical and practical damage potential in the game. Are BBs at least fragile to compensate? Lol no. What about their supposed hard counters? Well, that has been "fixed" with torp nerfs/BB maneuverability buffs and the glorious CV rework. As for radar, well, lets just say I opposed its introduction and asked WG to fix the reason why they introduced radar instead (aka a lack of CVs). That was... 2 years ago? Honestly I don't remember. While true, ing over classes you're already great at ing over is hardly much better. The most braindead class to play getting ways to farm even more braindead damage kinda strikes me as wrong. Can't aim? Dispersion has you covered. Dunno how to angle or position? Here's loads of armor and health. Got caught broadside? Take near immunity to citadels then. Still can't farm damage? Well, lets just add auto secondaries that will do it for you when you inevitably get close enough. Or thermonuclear HE shells. BBs have been going downhill ever since they introduced the German ones. It's great that they're trying to revert the trend with RU BBs but it's way too late for that imo. (And that's assuming they won't get buffed to be just as bull as most of the others.)

MIght wanna run a repair on your game. Looks very much like your GPU is dying tbh, but if other games run fine that can't be it.

    New carriers

Well, we all know bots are more adept at dodging than the average player.
  17. Oh, please. Getting close is a byproduct of generally decent positioning. With the most heavily armored and highest health pool class this is not particularly risky either. You're already getting good returns via map control and rising accuracy of your devastating main battery, I do not see why you should get bull constant auto DPS too. AP bomb auto drops and Shima walls of skill are comparable in having similar effort for huge returns. Whenever I play my secondary build Bismarck I constantly have to facepalm at how easy and utterly bull it is to get amazing rewards for no effort.

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Obviously, but doesn't that mean playing CVs has actually become harder, thus widening the skill gap? Aka the exact opposite of one of the things the rework set out solve?
  19. Honestly I don't know why people think secondaries are a fun mechanic. You're basically reaping potentially huge returns for doing... Nothing. Nothing at all. Quite frankly long range accurate secondaries are a bull mechanic on par with RTS CV AP bombs or CBT Shima walls of skill. They shouldn't exist.

Bow Camping, autobounce, and HE/AP value

Has been tested, was discarded due to overwhelming negative player reaction. However the ability to bow camp is indeed one of the primary reasons why high tier games are far more static than low-mid tier matches. Honestly I wish here WG would've pushed through the change regardless of player reaction like they always tend to do instead of listening to the playerbase.

    New carriers

Your stats prove that it was actually the other way around. Basic example: In the new Lexington you deal 11k average damage. In the old Langley you dealt 35k average damage. So in a T4 pre-rework CV you were capable of achieving thrice the average damage of a T8 reworked CV.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Imo the initial reception was very subdued anyway considering it was "the shiny new thing". The crux is going to be the release of RN CVs. If that doesn't significantly and permanently elevate the CV population then nothing ever will. Oh yeah, that. But really, does that make any difference? Strikes flying straight into blobs already get off one attack then evaporate. I can't imagine it being any different with this change because quite frankly it would be overpowered otherwise. It's gonna help against 2x BBs sailing together I suppose but only if those BBs don't have murderous AA the likes of Monty, JB, Repu etc. in the first place. And ofc this is another crippling blow for DDs. Surely the game needed that.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Except that aside from the safety altitude after attack change coming in 0.8.2 nothing else is planned. And even that might get tuned down if it proves to be too powerful. In the words of WG, AA vs plane survivability is about right where they want it to be.
  24. El2aZeR

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

Something based completely on the assumption that the like/dislike ratio is going to be the same. Utterly laughable. We have access to population data courtesy of stat sites. After the hype period and recent adjustments CV population has largely remained the same, aka this rework is a gigantic failure in every way.

    [Poll] CV's Rework vs Rollback

That was a straight up fing lie and you know it. The poll had three options. 1. I liked it. 2. I liked some things and disliked other things. 3. I disliked it. I picked 2 as did the majority of people. Why? Because it was the honest option. There was always going to be one thing that people were going to like: the visuals. Even if you disliked everything else, you were most likely going to find at least one thing good about the rework. It didn't matter at all if you disliked the gameplay, balance, etc. Meanwhile the devs presented it like this. 1. People liked it. 2. People liked it but wanted some changes. 3. People disliked it. So yeah. Even if people only liked e.g. the visuals but disliked everything else, they were presented as liking it. To present this as general acceptance of the rework is laughable. It is entirely possible that the majority of the polled players actually disliked the rework but were thrown the other way by WG. So the next time WG makes a poll, if you fundamentally dislike it, don't be honest. Say straight up that you dislike everything even if it is a lie, because WG certainly will not give you the courtesy of being honest.
