Bomb reticle jumping when losing planes
El2aZeR replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Happens with every plane type. Pretty sure it is intentional considering this has been around since testing. I've reported it back then and no s were given on WG's part. -
Pretty sure you could have survived even that. Regardless I'm fairly sure flooding changes would've happened even without the rework so the DCP switcharoo couldn't happen anymore. I'm not saying RTS CVs were without flaws, their list of faults was over a mile long, but objectively speaking they at least had viable counterplay options unlike reworked CVs and as such were more fair than the latter. The primary issue was that no one was applying said counterplay options and that you had to heavily specialize into them. Now people are actually applying the previously effective counterplay options but still get their teeth kicked in while the specialization issue hasn't changed at all.

Pretty sure they know but have just given up considering how old this issue is.

Did you use premium DCP? And honestly, if you knew the Haku hasn't expended his TBs yet, why use DCP in the first place? Flooding was a much greater danger than fire, if you'd have just used your heal to nullify the fire damage you would've been more than fine. Baiting only works if your enemy actually falls for it. The term itself implies a misplay. It's like people saying "you could just bait DFAA". Well duh, if the enemy is dumb enough to misplay his one button mechanic then he should be punished for that.

Is Yamato even playable with a Tier X CV in the match?
El2aZeR replied to Riggerby's topic in Battleships
When attacking almost all planes receive a pretty hefty maneuverability penalty. That's working as intended. -
Flooding was likely going to change anyway. Regardless lets examine your scenario. You press your 2 DBs in and are lucky enough to get multiple fires so that the Yama DCPs instantly. Alpha strike of such a DB attack was typically around 7k damage. Next you press in your TBs in hopes of getting a flooding (which even with all 12 TBs hitting was fairly unlikely). Yamato downs 3 on approach, which leaves you with 9 torps. A RTS Haku torp deals ~8,6k alpha strike. About 5 hit bow/stern, but only 2 will deal full damage due to damage saturation, reducing the remaining 3 to half their damage. That means you have 2 torps which will deal 8,6k alpha strike while the rest deal 4,3k, giving you a total TB damage of ~47k damage. Added with the bomb damage before that's 54k. You get lucky and get a flooding (it was impossible to get more than one on a ship btw), at this time Yamato DCP will be at about 60 seconds cd. In that time a Yama would lose ~650HP per second, giving us ~39k flooding damage. So that's a total of ~93k damage. And you might say "oh, that's very close to Yama max HP, it's totally possible!" Well yes, but actually no. That'd be assuming the Yama is too stupid to use his heal. So that necessitates a second strike guaranteed. And this is the optimal scenario, we're assuming no fighter interference, no AA interference (Zao with DFAA would likely reduce your torp alpha to almost nothing or prevent you from getting a fire in the first place, denying your bait and switch), that you even get multiple fires to force DCP, that you hit all your torps, that the Yama isn't full AA (which to be fair was extremely unlikely) and that you get a flooding. Out of all of these ifs, only whether you get multiple floodings or not remains.

Is Yamato even playable with a Tier X CV in the match?
El2aZeR replied to Riggerby's topic in Battleships
Yeah no , moving slowly actually kills you pretty much instantly as it leaves you without options. You will hit flak guaranteed once you have to speed up again. Flak always spawns at a set distance to always give you exactly the same time to react given your current speed. That means no matter how fast you go, you will hit a flak wall at exactly the same time regardless. However flak is also tuned so that it will hit you at the very last moment of its "lifespan". So basically if you go fast, let flak spawn and then slow down to cruising speed (not using deceleration), you'll be able to pass through flak unharmed. This can be repeated but requires very tricky timing, I only recommend doing this on your final approach. Instead what you should do is attempt to misdirect flak. Flak always spawns in the path you're currently flying on, so if you go to directly to the enemy ship, flak will spawn between you and the ship. If you however go to the left of the ship, flak will also spawn to the left of the ship. So if you know your timings you can simply direct flak away from the enemy ship, giving you a clear path. Fun fact: Flak accounts for course adjustments with WASD, but not with mouse. So if you just use your mouse to turn flak won't readjust to your turn but always spawn as if you were going straight ahead. -
I did. In testing. That's... 6 months ago? 7?

Killing a Yama in a single wave was outright impossible in RTS CVs (barring detonations), especially after the recent flooding change, so that's 2 strikes at least taking about 3-4 minutes each. A longer timespan than what you would have needed in a sub-par attack platform. Midway or even Enterprise could've finished that Yamato way earlier. Assuming fighters were available and not needed to deny enemy strikes. And assuming the enemy wasn't denying yours.

Is Yamato even playable with a Tier X CV in the match?
El2aZeR replied to Riggerby's topic in Battleships
- Pensacola has FAR better AA than Kron, in fact Kron barely beats out Omaha - Moskva AA is again comparable to Cleve - Hinden and Alaska AA is a bit worse than Yama AA, they're better with DFAA active but not by too much Flak is a non-issue if you know how to deal with it regardless of how much is put into the air. And provided it isn't invisible. One would kinda expect 2x DFAA to melt planes, no? Besides, even that can be struck if you slingshot and are willing to sacrifice planes. Only with TBs and it's not nearly as reliable as before. -
Funny how you still say that RTS CVs were worse when your very example proves you deal more damage in the same time span while being a far more oppressive presence.

Is Yamato even playable with a Tier X CV in the match?
El2aZeR replied to Riggerby's topic in Battleships
This really applies to only 3 cruisers: Minotaur and Worcester/DM with DFAA ready. The rest all suck in comparison to Yamato especially when you consider that the catapult fighter already kills about half the squad for free almost guaranteed. This includes Salem as she has no close range AA, making her extremely vulnerable to DBs. Basic example: Neptune has comparable AA to Cleve (in fact it could even be considered as a lot weaker). Cleve gets bodied by T8 CVs easily. -

T minus ~3 until maintenance (for both AL CN and KC funnily enough). Some more info: Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/kancolle/comments/bqddeg/misc_information_from_reppara_519_stage_event/ A new CL, huh? Apparently it has been said that she'll have twin mounts and will carry seaplanes. Too bad really, I was hoping for an Atlanta or a Cleve. Also we're starting the gimmick train with E1 already? Really Tanaka? -

Nope. In fact most of them can't even reach Yama base AA values with DFAA activated. -

Yamato has better AA than the grand majority of cruisers nowadays. Especially in combination with the braindead catapult fighter. -
Well , Yuro noticed. Now she's gonna get nerfed. T_T No.

CV: Spotting changes super test
El2aZeR replied to anonym_cwVecOS6ecVy's topic in General Discussion
No, hit probability is a multiplier for DPS and determines the chance of spawning X amount of flak bursts out of the maximum listed. Say you have 100 DPS on your AA but only 60% hit probability. That means you only have 60 true DPS as 100 x 0.6 = 60. For more info read this: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/112949-new-aa-mechanics-explained/ -

Inb4 WG introduces a new premium CV with only one plane type as glorious gimmick. -
Even more of a waste because then your fighters can simply be canceled by the enemy. Or they will expire before the enemy arrives.
-
Didn't they say that it got fixed in one of the patches some time ago? I seem to remember something along those lines and haven't experienced the bug since.
-
I'm not complaining. I thoroughly understand why ship air detectability of most ships is lower than plane air detectability and have no issues with it. Just thought it's funny enough to share. :) Wait, you're just mad I managed to waste another few minutes of your life with my signature, aren't you?

Small fighters being launched are spotted before gigantic ship.

On a different note you can ALMOST feel the realism, no?
