I am going back to T5

I mean, that isn't a particularly rare occurrence with potatoes either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Somehow I doubt getting citadeled by rockets and HE bombs is going to be any fun. Just sayin'.

    You make CV's more Rediculous?

On a serious note, I think the answer is never as far as BBVs are concerned. Since the entire rework is built in a way that you'd be shafting yourself hilariously by picking a BBV. I'd assume squad sizes are small, reserves even smaller and regen probably not all that fast, meaning you suck as a CV. On the other hand you only have 4 guns with a rather questionable layout so you will probably suck as a BB as well. If you could bomb and use your guns at the same time it might actually be effective, but if you're limiting yourself to doing one thing at a time, as the rework concept demands, I can't see it work out. So personally? I'd bet after subs, because then WG could just give these BBs ASW planes as glorious gimmick. Can't have any class be a threat to glorious BB masterrace after all.

    You make CV's more Rediculous?

Since they have several fighter squads equipped. (Well, one of them anyway.)

    You make CV's more Rediculous?

Again someone who is whining because they can't all over their supposed counter class. Tell you what, if you want to effortlessly kill AA cruisers you're playing the wrong CV line. Either go IJN and git gud or, even better, buy Enterprise and git gud. Also git gud.

    Black vs Neustrashimy

Neustra AA with DFAA activated is slightly less DPS than base AA of a Cleve. Not completely worthless per se, but nothing to write home about either. It won't stop a certain (in)famous CV () from making 2-3 runs at you and if ordinance happens to connect to even one of your AA mounts it basically annihilates your AA completely (an issue all AA DDs share).

Did they fix the zero damage pens?

Ah yeah, forgot about that. Would still mean that penetrations to the main battery deal no damage tho.

    Thinking of rebuilding some DDs...

In case of multiple ships you are unlikely to get off more than one attack anyway unless the AA of all ships involved is particularly pathetic. DFAA plays no part in it.
  9. El2aZeR

Did they fix the zero damage pens?

Basically broken forever. Module penetrations still get listed as penetrations but deal no damage. Multi-pen bug will not be addressed in the forseeable future because I think the official answer was that they can't reliably reproduce it, so they have no idea how to fix it. Just recently I took 15k damage from a single Gneisenau shell in my Helena.

Where do I even start? Have you ever tried the percentage filter on wows-numbers? According to that the e.g. top 5% of Yamato players are quite a bit worse than, say, the top 5% Republique players. Yamato has 24546 players listed, Repu has 8125. 5% cut off for Yamato would thus be around 1200, a quick look in wows-numbers reveals that this is already in <60% WR territory with a trend towards 55%. For Repu meanwhile it's only about 400 players, which are for the most part firmly set at above 60% with a tendency towards 70%. Does this mean Yamato is severely underpowered and needs buffs? Hardly, this is a completely worthless comparison that does not take into account a big number of important factors. This includes sample size. We're talking about a game with a population of 20-30k at best on its biggest server, the amount of skilled players is inevitably extremely limited so even just a few 100 players difference can throw off statistics. Regardless evaluation by percentage will fail anyway you if you do not take into account the various differences in pre- and post-rework populations. There is a polarizing difference in skill that can already be seen in a simple top 100 chart that maplesyrup provides. Whereas pre-rework you could see people with 80% WR all the way down, post-rework the list already includes quite a few players with <60%. If that's the top 100 just how bad is the rest of the population? And this drop in skill makes more than sense considering the target audience of this rework. It is also very likely that WG themselves directly contributed to this as recent new player invite codes included free T4 CVs, meaning new players were thrown into the harsh reality of post 0.8.0 CV play from the get go. It could also be that WG fudged the numbers by simply including all time stats. This will inevitably give RTS CVs a more diverse population but it presents the issue of not taking into account the various changes they have undergone. Anyone remember full strike Haku/Midway? That'd get included but holds no particular relevance. Taking things at face value doesn't get you anything conclusive, otherwise I could probably make a chart that correlates climate change to a lack of piracy. My conclusions about reworked CVs being at least just as powerful as before lies in one simple fact (aside from my own experience with both iterations which however can ofc be biased). Top player stats haven't changed all that much prior to 0.8.5. It has nothing to do with population as I have already explained previously. Post 0.8.5 however there is a marked drop in top player performance including my own. I would guess from that that WG's goal of cutting down CV potential influence has succeeded - at the cost of playability for the majority of the population if number of players and battles played is any indicator.
  11. It seems that my previous remark about how this is just another BB buff which this game certainly doesn't need has been removed. Interesting...

    CV Rework Discussion

Judging by population data available to us we can surmise that population has been roughly slashed in half. So out of 22% around 11% remain +/- 5% margin of error or so I'd say. This is pre-rework levels of population according to WG themselves. Last weekly snapshot of purely 0.8.4: http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/20190622/eu_week/average_class.html Most recent weekly snapshot of 0.8.5: http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/ranking/20190706/eu_week/average_class.html Both players and number of battles played has suffered a loss of roughly 50%. (The player number statistic is likely not 100% accurate data though as I'm sure players who switched between high and low tiers are counted twice, so actual population might be smaller. Then again also keep in mind ingame event is running right now so some CV players may not be playing CVs.)

No 1 in after battle list.

No, it is working as intended. And has been for the past 4 years. It has been explained multiple times by WG themselves that HE shells can always cause fires no matter if the shell penetrated or the hit location. What you want is a mechanics change, but that is very different from a bug report. Not that I expect you to acknowledge that of course.

    HVAR 127mm Vs. Tiny Tim

Used to until they were nerfed. Though apparently according to some people here they are still highly effective on the Lexington. On the Midway TiTs are the way to go. HVARs have been nerfed extremely hard to the point where their existence can be called into question. General differences are: - TiTs have a faster attack prep time meaning you need less distance to attack. This can be a highly deciding factor when attacking DDs. - TiTs dispersion gets more accurate way faster. With HVARs you need to aim for about an additional one and a half seconds for your dispersion to become completely accurate. Both are however very sensitive to corrections while attacking. - TiTs have vertical dispersion while HVARs have horizontal. Because of the attack angle of rockets vertical dispersion is generally superior to horizontal (unless you have absurd accuracy like Enterprise) because vertical dispersion allows you to attack from all angles, whereas horizontal dispersion forces you to attack side on to be effective - TiTs have better utility while HVARs have better total alpha strike Honestly I can only recommend that you try both. On the Midway however TiTs are your only real choice, so getting some practice in with them on the Lex could be a good idea.

In so far that you should've expected it. It is ofc more than just shady business practice to declare premium CV balancing as finished extremely early as a fast cash grab only to show later on that it is not. Still, a blind man could see that premium CV balancing was most definitely not done yet and global nerfs were inevitably on the horizon. Likewise taking the word of a company that has repeatedly lied to our faces and continues to do so at face value is naive at best. And, well, technically speaking it has all been within the "legal bounds" set by WG themselves. Individually Enterprise, GZ, etc. cannot be nerfed anymore, however as with all premium ships they will be affected by global adjustments.

I did say trend, not a 100% conclusive result. I can only speak from experience evaluating people in MMM vs actual match result and at ~100 or more battles it has rarely let me astray if WR was the deciding factor A combination of statistics (assuming you take the relevant ones) will obviously be more accurate than just a single metric. However if you're just concerning yourself with a single one WR is the top stat as it is the most difficult to "fake".
  17. *sees MM = 6 DDs per side* Ah, yes, Enterprise will feast today.

Trend usually appear within 100 battles of playing an individual ship. For some people just 20 will suffice to know that they're garbage (combination of bad WR; bad avg dmg, bad kills per match, etc.), others can be given the benefit of the doubt.

Ofc, which is why you need a sufficient sample. Eventually the battles you cannot influence will even out, leaving only the battles you can influence as a deciding factor in your stats. But eventually WR becomes representative. It is statistically possible to have incredibly lucky streaks to get a good/bad WR despite player skill suggesting otherwise, but the chances of that happening are literally astronomical. Someone actually calculated that picking up a grain of sand in the Sahara, throwing said grain in a random direction then picking up the very same grain again is several times more likely than getting a good/bad WR purely by luck.

After 14k battles you still don't know how exp is calculated. Honestly I am not even surprised.

So if I camp in the back all the time and farm damage I'm a good player according to you? WR is a good measure of player skill provided a sufficient sample of matches played. If you can't get a good WR you suck, plain and simple.

    CV Rework Discussion

Flak always spawns so that it will give you the same time to react regardless of your speed. It's also tuned in a way to hit you at the last possible moment of its "life cycle". So if you're going fast all you need to do to dodge a flak cloud is to slow down sufficiently. What you must not do is speed up as that will make you eat invis flak. Flak always aims for your current speed, it does not take acceleration or deceleration into account. I usually go full boost the entire way until I'm on my final approach, then slow down to avoid the last flak wall and prevent it from messing up my aim. Flak system takes most course adjustments into account. That means if you know your timings you can just turn into a direction that is not where the enemy ship is and flak will completely miss its point as a defensive measure. This needs to be done preemptively. So even against the heaviest of AA concentrations you're gonna be fine against flak if you just fly zig zag with the right turn and speed timing.
  23. El2aZeR

It might be a conspiricy theory, ...but

I got so incredibly suspicious at one time that I recorded average WR difference of my team (sans my own) vs enemy team as soon as I got 80% WR or above with a certain ship over I think it was 150 battles. At first I thought I was on to something as every time I hit 80% WR or above WR difference would be at least 5% or more in the enemy team's favor. But after a while it normalized so I chalk up the initial run to bad luck. You're just always extremely likely to have bad teammates because the majority of players in this game are abysmal.

    Thinking of rebuilding some DDs...

Funny thing about that, for DFAA on cruisers to be worth it your AA needs to have a very specific power level. Most AA heavy cruisers don't benefit from DFAA because the CV only gets one strike regardless. Meanwhile if your AA is worthless DFAA won't do you much good either. So for DFAA to be effective you need to have just enough AA so that without DFAA you would get struck more than once, but with DFAA you only get attacked once. Cruisers aren't the most effective AA platform anymore anyway aside from some very few exceptions. BBs with glorious fighter squad are now the AA masterrace. Probably as WG intended.
