This is not the way to develop a game

They don't. That has been abundantly clear for years.

As if the majority of CV players were any better.

Which in itself is often bad play as spreading damage across multiple ships lessens your impact. 3 damaged ships are still 3 damaged ships that keep on fighting. Min turn radius only engages at min speed. Even just a few more kns will widen your turn considerably. Hitting the brakes with AR enabled makes your turn a lot wider and USN bombers don't bleed speed very well to begin with. Read what I wrote again. So yeah, even prior to 0.8.5 the skill was still more of a hindrance than anything else.

I found that a stuck icon is basically a message that an accel bail has succeeded. Which is either extremely funny or extremely sad depending on how you think about it.

Not necessarily with pre 0.8.5 AA as the damage is spread out which was your point, no? Sure they would eventually die faster but survivability in itself only benefits you for a certain time (namely the time it takes you to carry out attacks). Any excess survivability is a bonus, it's not strictly needed. And tell me, how many planes survived vs how many planes survived without AR? How many invis flak clouds did you hit because you sped up? Have you ever considered that AR is precisely what prevented you from reengaging by enlarging your turn radius? Because Saipan bombers are actually quite nimble from what I've seen and in tests have proven themselves to be practically toe to toe with Enterprise TBs in rate of turn. And while I haven't played Saipan, I have played Midway which uses the exact same planes. Prior to 0.8.5 making at least two attacks even with understrength squadrons (which Saipan squads basically are) was rarely an issue. The risks far outweigh its sole benefit especially when a basic exploit makes the latter completely obsolete. An exploit that uses the same principles as the slingshot to reach immunity altitude faster when bailing. During the attack animation just use boost to speed up then press F. If executed correctly this will allow your planes to reach immunity altitude much quicker as they "slingshot" themselves to it (this is especially noticeable with TBs as they get artificially accelerated much harder than any other plane type). They also retain the last second or so of immunity after an attack while doing so. In addition once planes hit immunity altitude they retain their current speed when returning to the CV, meaning that an accel bailed squad will return and be ready again faster than a normal bailed squad. I've made this exploit public for quite some time, so I'm genuinely surprised to see someone not knowing what it is.
  6. ....I think I need to go buy another ring. Also I forgot to mention I now have these two.

    Why run at the end?

The longer you live, the more damage you can do, the better your economy is at the end of a match. It is only when you know that you can't escape fast enough that a suicide charge makes more economic sense. Although yeah, most players still don't know that you don't save any money by surviving.

    Anime

Holy I actually forgot about that. Would it be surprising to you if I said that I actually watched all 3 of the shows mentioned in the video? In fact I think I still have VHS tapes of the Disney rip offs stored somewhere.

    Texas nerfed hard

It still happens with all aircraft as long as its an attacking plane being killed. WG didn't fix it, they really just produced a workaround at best.

    Anime

This is kinda funny to me because I grew up on literally Chinese cartoons. Like one in which there's this cat police officer who arrests and shoots criminal mice. Or one retelling Journey to the West in which the Monkey King always beats up and kills bad guys with his staff weapon at the end of a story arc. Or one where a girl is born out of a lotus flower, gets bullied by dragons, kills herself, gets resurrected and gifted glorious weapons by some god then kills the dragons who bullied her. Fun stuff and imparted several important life lessons such as "violence is always an answer, if your problem doesn't go away you're clearly not using enough." On that note, Quan Zhi Gao Shou ("The King's Avatar", although a more accurate translation would be something along the lines of "full time expert". Personally I call it "Sealclubbing the Anime") 2nd season is supposed to start running this month. I actually quite liked the first one so I'm excited for that.

AR is based on HP percentage. That means lower HP planes benefitted the most as their HP would get reduced faster. Trying to save a damaged squad by flying out of AA is bad for several reasons. One, it wastes your time as too few planes (if any) will make it out to be worth it. If you have enough time to do that, you have enough time to make a second attack so that kinda defeats the point of trying to manually save your squad. Two, accel bail will do the job much faster with fewer casualties, effort and time wasted. Three, flak renders extremely late if you're not looking at the ship shooting to the point where taking invis flak is not only common, it is the ing norm.

    CV Rework Discussion

No it really wasn't. Because - you really don't want to be flying around with a damaged squadron - you want the fastest turnaround times possible when attacking multiple times, as such AR actually hindered you by decreasing your reengagement window - the last thing you want to do when flying through flak is speed up due to the way it is tuned As such this skill was absolutely worthless in the great majority of situations. You'd be much better off picking other skills than this one.

That'd be implying AR was ever useful in the first place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Seriously, if the skill is to be retained it should be redesigned. Even in its original iteration it was more of a hindrance than anything else.

    CV Rework Discussion

Meh, after ~3 years of watching them up pretty much everything related to CVs this is imo rather mild by comparison. To me the highlight is still either when they declared CVs balanced enough to release new premium CVs after literally doing nothing but releasing an incredibly buggy UI update that was supposed to make it more responsive and swapping a few buttons around via the alt control scheme OR when WG declared that we all suck and just have to git gud as a response to everyone, including top CV players such as Fara, complaining that the release version of the GZ is unplayably bad. As I've always stated, it was inevitable that we'd end up here. If not because of the rework being inherently flawed, then certainly because of WG's sheer incompetence.

Yeah, seen that too already. One of the reasons why I tend to focus them if the situation allows it.

    CV Rework Discussion

I can assure you that this is in fact for a very good reason. Because during testing low tier planes, as with all planes (anyone remember 350kn Midway RFs?), used to be much MUCH faster and as such had pretty good damage potential despite their low damage ordinance. That made them rather overpowered to say the least.

    CV Rework Discussion

Because again fun is also tied with how much damage you deal. Nerf the damage and most players will feel like what they're doing has absolutely no impact, leading to most likely a heavier decline in population than if you just buff the AA as even the most hardcore CV players will leave the class. After all there's no reason to play a class that is purely laid out to deal damage but can't. Case and point: Low tier CVs.

Pretty much everyone about the Somers right now

Uh.... Well, since always? Quite frankly I can't remember a time when Shima did not have DP guns.

    CV Rework Discussion

I'm well aware as I had the (mis)fortune to have played with several recently. All of them were terrible, all of them were the primary cause for their teams' loss. One of the reasons why the effectiveness of the ST program itself can be called into question. If the players have no clue what they're doing, what makes them capable of judging anything they play? But meh, it's not like WG really listens to negative feedback unless it's a complete and utter storm.
  23. El2aZeR

    CV Rework Discussion

It's very simple, because they're still overperforming at the highest level. If the goal of the rework is to "bring CVs in line with other classes" as WG has stated multiple times then the rework is currently a failure. Just like it fails in everything else. And ofc the most amusing thing about it is that it is an impossibility in the first place. The game is balanced asymmetrically, as such some classes will always be more powerful than others. I believe WG knows this as they have presented CVs still being the most influential class in the game as a success. However even if the goal is to make CVs weaker than before, well, that too was a failure up until 0.8.5. 0.8.5 is the first patch to have even remotely succeeded in reaching that goal. All it took to achieve that was completely obliterate playability for the average playerbase. And here the rework shows that it can never succeed because its popularity is directly tied with how much and how easily damage can be dealt. Make them too accessible and they become op for anyone not braindead. Make them more balanced and they become unpopular. As such the only reasonable thing to do is to scrap the rework and start from scratch. WG is kinda doing that right now with all the new AA mechanics changes (as these clearly contradict with fundamental mechanics of the rework), their mistake however is to do it all on the live server. So much for "learning from the rushed rework implementation" lol.

Pretty much everyone about the Somers right now

Friesland has 3x DFAA unlike everyone else, meaning your DPS gets tripled. That gives you Mino AA DPS on your midrange I believe. Neustra DPS with DFAA active is about the same as Cleve AA. Not exactly weak, but nothing special either. And like all DDs both suffer heavily from AA mount losses which are inevitable under air attack.
