    Lets see... - fastest plane regeneration out of all high tier CVs on her RFs and TBs, with RF regen being particularly absurd. This results in deep reserves that are only rivaled by the Kaga, but Kaga isn't nearly as versatile nor powerful - Her RFs are by far the best DD hunters in the game with a ludicrously accurate spread which is completely unaffected by mouse maneuvers when preparing and still closing when using AD. They also have a total HP pool rivaling those on the Midway, meaning the amount of s given to AA DDs such as Kidd and Grozovoi are precisely zero. By abusing her particular accuracy parameters and completely absurd maneuverability E RFs can also effectively attack inside of the air concealment of most DDs - Her TBs have pre-rework arming distance, exceptional maneuverability, highly forgiving accuracy and rank among the best in damage potential and flooding chance. Only Saipan can claim to put out more damage per attack, however Saipan TBs aren't nearly as versatile. Enterprise TBs are also among the few TBs left in the game that can effectively cross drop - Her AP DBs are an outright hard counter to any but the most lightly armored cruisers (which in turn get completely ed by rockets). This includes every single AA cruiser. They also utterly demolish almost all lower tier BBs, all KM BBs and, perhaps most importantly, the Kremlin. On top of that accuracy is quite literally unaffected by maneuvering, meaning E AP DBs can effectively attack from angles all other CVs can only dream of No other CV is as versatile nor as powerful. Enterprise is a jack of all trades, master of all. When played well she outperforms all T10 CVs and then some. As such she not only up tiers well, she dominates T10 matches.

    Enterprise is the single most overpowered ship in the game. Let me assure you that if you struggle with her it's your own fault. Next patch will dramatically increase the tickrate for AA, however overall DPS remains the same. This is primarily a buff for long range mounts. After that comes the new sector reinforcement. Whether that will be a substantial buff to AA remains to be seen as we know too little about it.

    Actually Hosho can be quite topkek with her AP bombs. No idea how Langley performs nowadays but I have good memories of her RFs.

    They're actually balanced. They face absolutely no meaningful opposition, their slow plane speeds are negated by smaller maps, spotting potential is the highest in their bracket for the same reason and they possess high accuracy as with all CVs, thus their damage potential should be absolutely abysmal. And it is. Obviously in higher tiers actual opposition gets introduced, but if you want to globally nerf AA to the point where potatoes can succesfully play without getting punished then a damage potential comparable to T4 CVs percentage-wise would in fact be more than fair.

    Except CVs don't have a large amount of average players. CVs have a large amount of terrible players, a tiny amount of average ones and at best two dozen who are actually skilled. That was my point all along. I'm using the term "average player" for braindead potatoes because lets face it, they make up the largest portion of the playerbase by far and as such are the "average wows player". And regardless of your stance on premium CVs, Enterprise is the perfect example for why balancing around average CV stats is a stupid idea to say the least. Also we are already where we started technically speaking. In fact we have actually taken several steps backwards with future adjustments poised to take us back even further. And this proves what I have been saying all along. Playability of reworked CVs stands in direct contradiction to balance. Exploits are used to minimize plane losses, if you remove those but buff plane survivability then those exploits simply aren't needed anymore making their removal moot. And unless you want all CVs to feel like T4 where their damage potential is about right to balance out all their other advantages a nerf to alpha strike is not gonna be enough to justify such a gigantic buff.

    Data is freely available on wows-numbers. Just check it yourself, it's very easy as employees are grouped in the official WG clans.

    Except they all fail with those too. Unless you count ~40% WR and <30k avg dmg in any class as "successful". What the other classes have is a stable and large enough playerbase where such s get partially balanced out by players who have at least achieved basic competence. This is not the case with CVs. And if you wanna have an example of that, just look at the Enterprise. At rework release she was already the most overpowered T8 CV by far. This didn't show in her stats because, guess what, I was the only skilled CV player playing her while everyone else was praising Kaga or Saipan. So in terms of average stats she was underperforming, I was literally the sole reason why she didn't fall below the tech tree CVs. And what did WG do? The buffed her HARD because she was supposedly underperforming, creating what would eventually become not only the most powerful CV, but the most broken p2w premium in the entire game. And it could've been way worse if I had not played her as people discovered only after the other premium CVs got nerfed how utterly broken she is. So no, CV averages are worthless as balancing data. At least WG seems to have learned that lesson from the Enterprise debacle.

    Because if you reduce alpha to the point where CVs are balanced there is no enjoyment in playing CVs as evidenced by the current T4s. You're gonna have little to no impact on the match, so why bother? If you keep current alpha strike or even lower it only by 10-20% while reducing plane losses CVs would still be too powerful. Something built around direct AA control and 3D space plane maneuvering. That's gonna get complicated real fast though and quite frankly I have no faith in WG pulling that off.

    And yet you can't balance anything around your playerbase being completely braindead either. That'll obviously make whatever mechanic way too powerful. It's ironic indeed, especially when you consider that WG wanted more players who have never played CVs or even their game before to come to the class, leading to a huge influx of new and inexperienced players that have no clue what they're doing. Meanwhile the skilled veterans which already were treated like garbage have essentially been handed an eviction notice. Along with WG putting in essentially the same effort in educating their playerbase how to play as before and you have an inevitable disaster on your hand.

    Being a USAF pilot in itself means at least basic competence has been achieved. A more accurate analogy would be the USAF turning down planes with better performance because some hobby pilot who has never sat in the cockpit of a military aircraft couldn't handle it. That'd be ed. And the vast majority of the CV playerbase consists precisely of those. Which is precisely how it needs to be. Why potatoes should find success in a CV when they do not in e.g. DDs is beyond me. Contrary to popular belief this game is not solely about selfish enjoyment.

    Oh, but they are. By fine I meant CVs are still performing fine, they're certainly not unplayable nor useless as so many people like to believe. The issue with reworked CVs is if they're not overpowered then they're worthless. Aka reworked CVs are fundamentally broken and unless changed radically to the point of scrapping the majority, if not all mechanics related they are going to stay that way. The current iteration is and can only remain a complete failure as evidenced by current situation. This does not necessarily mean a return to the RTS system, a 3rd person action version could be made a success if implemented right, however the current iteration has no future. Yup. As such I see no point in these potential changes.

    Performance of "average" CV players looks fine to me. It's only bad players that actually struggle. As it should be. Problem is practically the entire playerbase for CVs right now consists of bad players. As such averages are completely worthless. If I remember correctly it was mostly completely worthless adjustments from what I could see as it only involved making CVs spawn further away or surface ships spawn closer.

    Average skill is precisely why I'm dismissing averages as representative data. To say it is down the drain would be an understatement. As such averages will inevitably be down the drain as well. To balance a class around such numbers generated by completely braindead s is the absolute worst thing you can do. Or to put it into perspective, @Miragetank90 would you consider yourself an expert CV player? You're 91st place on the leaderboard. @Sunleader too, a self described mediocre CV player who doesn't even use "working-as-intended" mechanics was in the top 100 until this week. @Saiyko, who I don't think will describe himself as an elite CV player either, also was quite high up there at one point. Fact is the majority of players capable of playing the class to even an acceptable standard has been obliterated and only 20 or so can be considered truly skilled. Average numbers generated are thus representative of how terrible potato CV are, not an indicator for their potential in any way. Again using @Sunleader's numbers he's been pulling a respectable 54% WR, 90k average damage and 1.46 KPM which should be right in the ballpark for results of an average CV player who knows the basic fundamentals. On a different note, new weekly numbers are out. A combined 2152 reworked CV players. One year ago it was 2570 players. Last snapshot of RTS was 2220 players. Kek.

    I do. I have no issues regardless of CV played. While I agree that AA progression in itself is a gigantic mess (as it always was), losses when taking on T10 dedicated AA ships are right where they should be. Damage is where it is because the percentage of skilled players has shrunk considerably, not because it isn't powerful. Actually it is. An official post (I believe it was in a Q&A) outright dismissed the idea, saying they want to look for their own solutions first.

    Did anyone take the latest survey about CVs? It's actually comedy gold. "What do you think would happen to your squadron if it flew into the black explosion area of AA shells?" is a real question from it.

    If you haven't noticed yet losses are for the most part exactly where they need to be. By increasing HP / reducing AA you're negating your potential alpha nerf because the most effective plane type can be spammed far more often. Regardless it'd be a straight up buff to a class that by WG's measures is still overperforming as of 0.8.5 unless ofc you nerf alpha to the ground, at which point there is no need for the existence of reworked CVs. As for spotting, proposed changes are all off the table according to official statements. Try again.
