And if this were the RTS iteration you would lose all your planes for negligible or no damage. As for what you're doing wrong, honestly I wouldn't know beyond playing RN CVs which are currently the weakest CV line, having only one viable ship (Audacious). They are however irrelevant to the discussion as no one complained about the weak CVs back then either.
-
Except AA was far, FAR stronger in the RTS iteration. Nothing, not even full AA Mino, reaches AA effectiveness comparable to even AA cruisers with only DFAA back then. Case and point: That's a Zao. Not a DM, not a Mino, not a Worcester. A Zao. Your argument quite frankly does not hold up. There is no third option. A single rocket strike has more damage potential than what some of these players manage to achieve. Also quite frankly no new AA line has been released since the rework.

Again, I don't need to. The enemy CV will lock himself down via flak and bad aim.
-
Right back at you. Why should I bother with fighters if the enemy CV is taking himself out?
-
No they can't. It is in fact worse than before. Potato or not, fighters interfered with your own striking ability in the RTS iteration, meaning they had to be taken out first. While you dealt with fighters your own fighters could not deal with enemy strikes at the same time. There were also ammo and position constraints, meaning inevitably any potato would get a couple of strikes in. And due to auto drop and the general average skill level some of the ordinance will connect. Now potatoes just die to flak or miss outright. This is reflected in stats where the worst of the worst have managed to reach new lows, creating statistics in T10 CVs comparable to T1 ships. So no, potatoes do not deal more damage even in such a scenario. It's a myth that holds no basis in reality. As such the situation is either the same or worse, no improvement can be found.

Apparently they've ramped up the DPS tho so its all good. /s Reworked AA as a game mechanic is complete and utter garbage anyway. You may as well attack a bot for all you care. There is no interaction between surface ships and CVs unlike in the RTS system, as such it was doomed to fail from the outset. And no, a simple "click-to-win" button is not gonna change that contrary to what WG believes.

Can Jean Bart 100mm Guns go over 19mm Pen?
El2aZeR replied to Sunleader's topic in General Discussion
Yup. -
But does this really hold true? After all if you look at flak as a replacement for a skill check which fighter play previously was you only have swapped one mechanic with another. The difference is that you were not against a skilled CV player in every encounter, but you are certainly up against flak pretty much every single time. This means bad players are getting shut down far more often which seems to reflect in stats given that bad players are even worse now. So previously we had: bad CV vs bad CV - both will waste their fighters and strike, likely for the entire duration of the match bad CV vs good CV - bad CV gets a few strikes done until all fighters are lost Now: bad CV vs bad CV - both get shut down by flak bad CV vs good CV - bad CV gets shut down by flak, good CV does not care either way Fact of the matter is I don't need to shut down bad CV players as they shut themselves down now. Likewise I am no longer hampered by them in striking ability since I no longer need to deal with their fighters. As such the overall situation does NOT improve and the change is garbage. After all if a pipe is leaking and you replace it with a different pipe but it leaks in the same place, you haven't solved anything.

First one isn't bad. Just kinda boring imo, but generally speaking it would work. Second one I honestly really like. A full solo/coop campaign in the style of operations based on historical battles would not only provide a great experience if made well, it could also be used to teach new or inexperienced players how to play. Which means this will never happen. WG is an abyss where good ideas die off immediately. Third one is kinda bad. You'd not only exclude players without a clan or being in a less active one, it ensures that only the best clans have access to such resources. While I do believe some sort of fighting over ports/resources on a world map could be fun, the benefits of winning such shouldn't have dramatic impact. Also as a heads up, this thread is likely going to get closed and you're gonna be referred to this thread instead: https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/120605-naval-training-center-ideas-suggestions/

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
El2aZeR replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
When was the last time you saw a Liquidator? Because personally I've never seen one again after they "buffed" flooding. Or at least not on this server. I honestly forgot this achievement even exists. Match came down to the wire. Thankfully enemy team proceeded to throw quite hard, being unable to kill my low HP Ibuki teammate. -
What ship did you instantly fell in love with and why? (Include your build)
El2aZeR replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
RTS Enterprise. Because she was an actual challenge to play. Low strike reserves and wonky TB drop pattern meant she was extremely unforgiving, any mistake you made would severely hamper you for the rest of the game. Downtiered fighters required mastery of strafe mechanics despite ridiculous reserves. And she made KM BBs finally collect all those citadels they've been avoiding since their release (although make no mistake, AP bombs were a broken mechanic that never should've been implemented). Also reworked Enterprise because I instantly realized she is laughably overpowered. WG seemed to disagree with me and proceeded to buff her tho. -
What ship tree would you love to do all over again?
El2aZeR replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
None tbh. If I was forced to, maybe IJN or USN CVs. -
Using that logic every ship must be bad for you. Objectively speaking Hakuryu is superior, Midway is great and Audacious is situational.
-
17.6km detection range for Puerto Rico while glorious new BB gets 13.9km. Am I missing something?
-
Uh huh, and I'm sure you can give several reasons as to why that is. Yeah, considering that WG has repeatedly, blatantly lied when it comes to the rework this actually just proves you have no understanding of the matter at hand. Basic examples: "Rework has improved CV population." - CV population is equal or worse compared to RTS CVs. "Skill gap is the performance gap between skilled and bad CV players" turned into "skill gap is the performance gap of a single player in the different ship classes" turned back into "skill gap is the performance gap between skilled and bad CV players." "Most test players liked reworked CVs but would like some changes" - actual survey option: "Liked some aspects and disliked others" And perhaps my favorite: "Invisible flak is working as intended. You are all just bad at playing CVs." To name a few lies WG has spouted over the past few months.

Oh, well, I suppose Akashi gets more money then. Wait a minute, what happened to the eagle? -
It might be a conspiricy theory, ...but

Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe, your performance is sub-par and as such it is natural for you to lose more matches than you win? -
Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
El2aZeR replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Soviet BBs have thermonuclear HE shells because ofc they do. If all else fails that ship can probably just fall back on those. -

After a year of resisting my will finally crumbled. -
Except now they are getting shut down by their inability to comprehend/dodge flak, aka they're getting shut down every match and not only against CV players that know how the alt key works. Remember:
-
You want to get citadel'd by HE bombs and rockets this badly, huh?

I'm sure he appreciates your input on something posted over a year ago.

The average RTS CV player used auto drop. For TBs TECHNICALLY speaking this guaranteed some hits IF the target is a straight sailing potato. Anyone who has managed to learn the ancient and secret art of WASD however would easily dodge all ordinance. For DBs this was more or less a diceroll. So yeah, I suppose if we go to the lower spectrum of average player skill CVs miss a lot more nowadays (which does line up with my experience). However that kinda means average CV players used to be more successful with RTS CVs which is also backed up by stats. Considering the goals of the rework included reducing the skill gap and making bad players more useful it has utterly failed in this regard too. Spotting damage is actually very, very close to what it used to be to the point where I question if the difference can be felt. Regardless it is more than compensated by better damage potential. After all you don't need to scout if you can just kill said target yourself.

No worries, devs have you covered.
