Is that normal!? tier 8 CV against tier 6 no [edited]AA cruiser!?
El2aZeR replied to MNR1978's topic in General Discussion
The screenshot is taken 2:30 mins in. The attack likely occurred within the first minute. However even assuming the OP could've traveled the distance the Atago did, that still doesn't put him anywhere near meaningful AA cover. There are no no-fly-zones anymore. Any trouble with AA lies solely with you. Also listing Seattle. Are you out of your mind? Seattle has almost the same base AA as a friggin' Monarch. It is absolutely pathetic. -

But then there'd be an actual pause in glorious action gameplay. Can't have that as proven by the *gasp* 30 seconds launch delay being scrapped.
-
Meh, according to SOMEONE here this is perfectly balanced.
-
Being able to immediately reengage, reducing exposure to AA and dealing crippling damage in an extremely short timeframe. You know, like this: On a different note: "Rework totally less buggy than before" lol. But I'm sure that if I show this to WG they'll insist on there being no invis flak and tell me that I just suck at playing CVs. You know, just like last time.

2 torp hits on a Salem from a Haku equals about 17k damage assuming the standard 7% damage reduction that a Salem gets. Haku torps cannot be dodged by anything but DDs when dropped right and perhaps more importantly I get more than one attack thanks to heal unlike with the AP DBs. Midway HE bombs deal roughly 3.6k damage per hit for a total potential of 22.1k, though typically you see hits around 13-15k. You also seem to disregard that Midway DBs actually have enough health to go for a second attack. So yes, he's gonna die. Not quite as fast perhaps, but he'll die. I usually go around 7-8km. Use the minimap and play a bit with the boost to adjust. Haku can successfully slingshot from as close as 5.5km if you just use the boost to slow down so that matters a lot.
-
I could've done the same with TBs or HE bombs. Would've just taken me slightly longer. Slingshot cannot be removed because it is the implemented solution to a far bigger problem. You know as well as I do that limiting the range of CVs is basically equal to killing them off in the rework concept.

- enemy CV decides to bring a Salem in classic AA div - he pushes up to an island because he foolishly decides his DDs need AA, fire and radar support - fine, he dies first then Dead in 3 mins while he gets 9 planes. Seems like a very balans trade. AA too stronk omg AA ships untouchable WG pls buff CVs!

Except that does not come remotely close to an accurate analogy. Lets say life expectancy is in fact 130 years old. Because of that you're expected to work until you're 90 years old. Most people however work only until 70 because they're too lazy to work until 90, as such fall into poverty or sth. Then they demand that the system conform around them instead of the actual life expectancy. That'd fit the current CV situation quite well. And again, would you write a manual based around the fact that most people on this planet will never even understand the language you write it in? Besides, rework Enterprise was balanced around average stats. That worked out well, didn't it? Again, I'm not actually all that good in the other CVs. I have to relearn Midway as I haven't played her all that much since she got nerfed, just started playing Saipan and was never all that fond of Haku in the first place. I thus picked after relevancy, obviously you disagree since it contradicts your narrative. But hey, weren't you one of those people who said Shokaku is unplayable? Are you really, REALLY sure this is the way you want to go with this? Besides, if we were to remove "OP broken premiums" from the discussion then RTS Saipan, Kaga and GZ become completely irrelevant as well. Also Hosho is not getting nerfed. To call that a nerf is laughable. You may think convincing me is impossible. Well, considering it is objectively proven fact that reworked CVs are not weaker in terms of potential compared to before, I suppose you're right.
-
In terms of CVs I have actually mastered at this point: - Shokaku kills 2.61 vs 2.42 - Enterprise kills 2.53 vs 2.4 - Hosho kills 2.75 vs 1.33 In terms of kill records: - in RTS getting 8 kills was practically unheard of, 7 kills were extremely rare - in rework getting 9 kills is rare, 8 kills happens like once every few weeks, 7 kills is laughably common (in fact I got 2 of those just today) So how about no? So? Do you write a manual based around the idea that people can't read it? Likewise balance does not care about player skill. Player skill is the one thing that is completely irrelevant when it comes to balance. What matters is how a mechanic works and its potential. Top player stats just demonstrate said potential while average stats do not, hence why top player stats are relevant whereas average stats can be disregarded. It doesn't matter if you agree or not. These are established game design principles, if you do not agree then you're simply wrong.

No it isn't. And no you can't. PS always does 3.5% instant damage of CURRENT squad HP (which already fails to kill even one single plane on a 12 plane squad). Which means for every ship that does it it gets negligible returns. In the end if 4 ships all do it on one squad you may shoot down 1 plane and damage another. After that it has a 20 second reload time total, more than enough for a squad to execute another strike. Which considering all the advantages CVs already have is just plain wrong. This is an asymmetrically balanced class precisely because it is not like any other, to even attempt to shoehorn it into the same principles as surface ships will inevitably end in failure. While true, what stats are relevant is an entirely different thing. Average stats are irrelevant, top player stats represent the potential of the class and are as such what you balance around.
-
It's quite possible tbh, but on the other hand I've also seen torp tubes on DDs destroyed by a single rocket hit at the beginning of the match. Maybe they're more resistant to splash damage on DDs but still take normal damage from direct hits.
-
Aka the rework is fundamentally flawed and as such complete garbage. Yes. It shows which part of the playerbase likes to play which ships. If you want to talk about balance however average stats become irrelevant. Or do you really want to tell me high tier USN BBs are all in desperate need of monstrous buffs?
-
Torp tubes have no protection. Neither on DDs nor on any other class. Their only "protection" is that they're fairly difficult to hit at times, on some ships more so than on others.
-
It is actually a pretty normal occurrence. The reason is quite simple. AA cover exists only as a concept. Most, if not all long range AA is trash, made even further trash by the massed AA penalty (the more ships there are, the less effective AA becomes). Practically that means to get/give effective AA cover you need to be within 2-3km of a friendly ship. Any more than that and you might as well be sailing alone.
-
So there is no effective counterplay to CVs anymore. Thank you for making our point. Oh, you mean the RTS iteration where a Musashi could kill half a Saipan strike on approach? How about actually using some facts to defend your position instead of "lol I just know better and you're all just idiots"?
-
This is funny in the context of "mistakes" because doing this is actually a mistake.
-
- Midway is comparable - E is actually stronger than before (check recent stats - Shokaku is comparable - Haku seems weaker, but honestly I'm far from the best Haku player out there and I've been experimenting quite a bit with her - Not representative amount of battles played both pre- and post rework in Saipan. I can however prove that Saipan suffered far more from even bad AA in RTS - Hosho... well, do I even need to say anything? So that's 2 stronger, 2 comparable, 1 irrelevant but possibly stronger and 1 weaker based solely on playing ability. I frankly fail to see how the rework has "nerfed" me in any way. Also RTS CVs have always been judged by their strongest representatives, so why reworked ones shouldn't is beyond me.

Hi there.

It's kinda funny how much hate @Asakka is drawing when all he's doing is embracing the way WG wants CVs to be played. And quite frankly I agree, this playerbase doesn't deserve any better for supporting this rework in the first place when it should have been obvious that it would be a show and complete failure based on its fundamental concept alone. @MrFingers' post is pretty much spot on. In addition CVs are by far the most influential class in this game, so whether your team wins or loses is in fact largely your responsibility. Therefore you have a class that does nothing but grief everyone else in pretty much every way possible, annihilates tactical variety while adding none, is almost completely independent from their teammates unlike everyone else, has no effective counterplay options while being able to counter everything and can easily decide the outcome of a match on their own. The better question would be how one can not hate such a thing. So just be like @Asakka. Embrace the hate. Let the salt fuel your play. It's not gonna stop, so you might as well enjoy it.

You are so far behind the trend at this point you might as well stop trying. On a different note, Musashi once again shot down an entire Saipan squad on approach. Truly reworked AA is more powerful than RTS AA lol.
-
Yup, however 5.5km is about the very minimum. I typically sling from about 6.5km or slightly lower to give myself a bit of leeway.
-
Depending on whether you're boosting 5.5 to 7km.

1. Do you believe ships can teleport? Land of Fire is especially notorious for its isolated spawns, something that hasn't been fixed to this day. 2. Do you actually believe that small blob would deter a strike? Especially from an Enterprise which can just nuke it in quick succession?
