How does a Shimakaze deal with a CV attack?
El2aZeR replied to anonym_ED57N4NbHHsY's topic in General Discussion
Then why aren't you doing exactly that? Why is no one listing that it is ok to sail around alone with AA enabled because the CV will die to your flak and/or miss in the great majority of cases anyway e.g.? -

And here I thought the discussion is based around there being something to counter in the first place. Against an incompetent CV player you may as well keep your AA enabled for free plane kills if you don't run at risk of drawing accurate fire. Frankly I fail to see how such a scenario holds any relevance to what OP is asking for. Same with the assumption of your own CV being competent. -

Oh btw, THIS is also terrible advice funnily enough. Reason is quite simple, cruisers and BBs, even those that are supposed to have "good" AA, don't represent a significant obstacle to a (skilled) reworked CV due to even the strongest AA being a nuisance at best. If a CV knows you aren't anywhere close to the front lines (and they'll know since their planes get a detection warning just like ships), guess what they'll be doing? That's right, they'll start killing your cruisers and BBs. Since you're staying near them you will inevitably get spotted by chance, giving the enemy team intel on where you are, potentially exposing yourself to enemy fire and/or becoming the victim of a follow up attack. The CV will also go for you once the ships you sought cover from are dead. That is ofc assuming that you're fairly close to your teammates, aka within at least 3km. If you're not, you represent a normal target as if you were alone since long range AA power has been nerfed to the point of insignificance. So you don't want to be in front of the team, you don't want to be alone on a flank and you don't want to be close to your team. Where should you go? Well, if you want to be safe from air attacks, you must seek cover BEHIND your teammates. Now you may protest that this makes you unable to spot, use your torpedoes or generally completely useless - and you'd be right. Thus we come to the only true option you have. And that is this: -

If you'd have actually obtained such knowledge than there is no need to calculate anything during a match.

Fletcher torps have 19k alpha strike. Damage saturation cuts that in half once it kicks in. Do the math.

Yes. The mod is swapping existing assets, not implementing new ones and is therefore not in violation of the rules. -

First of all I strongly recommend remapping this key. Whoever thought "O" is an acceptable key to map in a game centered around WASD is clearly insane. Second, this is actually a terrible idea in a lot of scenarios since RFs can easily cross the distance to your weaker side before SR fully ramps up, thus crippling your already poor AA defense. This is especially true if you've had your AA disabled and the squad is already on top of you. The instant damage is also almost completely useless due to a variety of reasons. Therefore THINK before using SR. Not that it actually does much, the difference is usually +1 plane shot down even in a lot of ships with "good" AA which is completely inconsequential given the vast reserves of reworked CVs, most of which field close to 100 strike aircraft in a full duration match. -

Basic game design has long moved past that. Video games nowadays are often supposed to be challenging, stressful and competitive. Just like WoWs is. That you lack the competitive spirit is nothing more than your own personal view on the matter and has nothing to do with game design or the purpose of video games. Nor am I required to tolerate it beyond the basics of civility as per forum rules.

Funny, that's exactly what you're doing. As the topic intended I've stated what I enjoy and do not enjoy about this game. This weird positive tone you speak of is entirely in your head as the topic of this thread is, in fact, not entirely about what is enjoyable about the game. I suggest you read the OP again before making such laughable claims.

- WASD - Map awareness - Usage of cover - Usage of map presence to push DDs out of an area I suppose that makes the rest of your post moot? Yeah, no. If I e.g. play a cruiser even a mediocre BB player has good chances to take me out in a variety of situations. Better question: Why shouldn't you take it more serious? It's a game, yes. How exactly does that support your point in any way, shape or form?

Visuals are decent but nothing to write home about anymore. I used to like the sound design until WG decided that it needs an overhaul and ed it all up. Weeb collabs gave me PR ships in Azur Lane tho. I guess that can be stated as a big plus. And some of the videos WG produces are top notch. Oh and the Cobi brick models are great. Funny how some of the best parts of the game have nothing to do with the game itself.

Even the dumbest of strategies can succeed if the enemy is even dumber.

Even if it were possible it is forbidden. -
Doesn't matter as shooting a teammate can easily cause you to become pink. Also it is afaik not possible to see whether an opponent is pink or not.

Because that'd be a lie. I enjoy that players are utterly defenseless against air attack regardless of their class, skills/upgrades or skill. Reworked CV play in itself is boring and repetitive, thus unenjoyable. But it is always better to spread *insert generic illness here* rather than receiving one. It's toxic because there is no counterplay. Your own ability doesn't matter, only how skilled the CV is. The only thing holding the class back currently is how shockingly incompetent the average CV player is, but that doesn't make the implementation any less toxic. This implies that you have actually given an objectively true statement to defend your point. One only needs to check to see that you haven't, hence why certain questions for you can be repeated over and over again. You haven't given an answer. But hey, here's a bone to throw at you: How is it not a gameplay concession to have dreadnoughts with fantasy refits given that their original configurations would be even more defenseless against air attacks than they already are? Is it not a necessity to realize a more "fair" implementation of CVs in this game?
-
Given that this thread is literally asking for what I enjoy and I simply gave an honest answer your statements are surely based in fact and not on your own views. Fun part about reworked CVs: As per their design I never get rekt, I always do the rekting. THAT is actually toxic and I have no reason to pretend otherwise.
-
See everything listed in CV thread previously. So how is this not constructive? Reworked CVs in their fundamental gameplay principles are literally designed to ruin the game experience for everyone else. If they couldn't do that, they become worthless. How is it any surprising that I no longer enjoy every other aspect of the game?
-
Title says it all. Like a lot of aspects of the rework the new auto pilot is objectively worse than before. It ignores easily made turns, viable paths through islands and makes ridiculously illogical decisions even when doing something as simple as turning to one side so that you have to fiddle around with it for ages and potentially trigger the mouse bug. Thus it would be more than an improvement to go back to the old auto pilot.

- Being able to all over enemy ships regardless of what class, build or how skilled they are with glorious rework - proving to everyone that CVs are at least just as powerful as they were previously Everything else is a show. So when it is something you like but completely ruins the immersion, it's a gameplay concession. But if it is not, it's immersion breaking?

Damage stats actually seem appropriate in comparison to their real life effectiveness. From what I've read the primary issue irl was accuracy, which ofc is mitigated ingame like with pretty much all weapons.

Well actually... Dispersion is almost the same, being SLIGHTLY bigger on Shokaku. Considering you sling over twice the ordinance this is a significant upgrade in firepower. Personally I get 5-7k salvos on DDs rather often. And from time to time RNGesus declares " this DD in particular" and gives me 9-10k, which happens especially often on fat DDs that happen to "specialize" in AA. Is ofc all perfectly balans camrade.
