I'd rather have a fun and challenging match than win with ease in the vast majority of matches. Not that it has anything to do with my point or this discussion as a whole ofc.

DD roles vs actual incentive todo those roles
El2aZeR replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
This is pretty much the problem: A good chunk of damage in this game is usually done by DoT, so that flies straight out of the window. And if a target is spotted it will usually open fire, everyone in range will then become a "spotter" which essentially cuts down your own rewards to nothing. -
Actually any action with the mouse while playing CVs can trigger it afaik.

DD roles vs actual incentive todo those roles
El2aZeR replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
Spotting damage rewards are practically nonexistent indeed. There was actually an official post somewhere that gave us the formula quite some time ago. Can't find it anymore for the life of me but it showed us pretty clearly that spotting damage is worthless. -
It's several months old at this point. I doubt it'll ever get fixed. To "fix" it you need to kill the game via taskmanager and restart. No other way around it. "Rework is less buggy than RTS" lol.

Hold on, it gets even better: https://m.twitch.tv/clip/HeartlessMildMangetoutFrankerZ

Given the reality of the CV playerbase, or the playerbase as a whole, "some" is an understatement to say the least.
-
No, but neither does it encourage skillful play. In fact it actively discourages it due to being both fairly effective and easy to use, meaning less skilled CV players have no real incentive to learn how to use TBs and DBs beyond plane losses. Giving options does not automatically encourage skillful play. Given that DDs rely on flak to kill aircraft far more than any other class it was actually nerfed severely.
-
Except Shima guns are largely ineffective against BBs. RFs aren't. Played in 0.8.5 and thus holds no relevance anymore due to the major AA rework in 0.8.7. Was wondering why I can't open it.
-
It's certainly not as bad as an idea as you make it out to be funnily enough. So, what happened to the detailed screen?
-
Except the simple truth is as you said. Because the average CV player is such a failure no changes are warranted. And because the average player is such a failure any such changes would lead to the extinction of the class.
-
Frankly even if they did there's nothing they can do about it since it'd be admitting that the rework is a gigantic failure.
-
So basically nothing can ever be overpowered? Hint: Balance inherently excludes player skill, because player skill is what is supposed to decide the match.
-
It'd be a lot more meaningful if you were to show us the detailed screen. If it turns out those were all fighters then your point is kinda moot. Just saying. Regardless if a CV loses an excessive amount of strike planes to a DD nowadays that's not DD AA being strong, that's the CV being incompetent. Aside from Friesland (which has T7-8 AA) all DD AA is comparable to T6 AA (Kidd, Gearing) or below.
-
Imagine permanent cyclone. Now realize the ridiculous amount of balancing issues this brings. Could be fun in lower tiers where there are no gimmicks such as radar I suppose but beyond that I can't imagine it being viable. Operation Cherry Blossom indeed served as sort of a testing ground for night battles. That we haven't heard anything about it since probably means WG has scrapped the idea.
-
It's not irrelevant, it just doesn't solve the core issue (namely that CVs will still be able to all over you regardless) in addition to making some of the existing problems worse. I mean, I seriously doubt not being spotted by my teammates would have helped this dude.

Hey, Wargaming let's try this for CV direction?

Something something rework goals. Something something skill gap. -

El2aZeR replied to LowSpeedHighDrag's topic in General Discussion
Spotting does indeed barely contribute because unless you miss horribly you will deal most of the damage to a spotted target yourself. Compared to RTS my spotting damage is pretty laughable (~40-50k less), yet the higher and more flexible damage potential of reworked CVs is more than enough to compensate giving me pretty much the same performance. This doesn't mean spotting is completely useless to CVs, but nerfing it will be of little hindrance. In fact all you'd be doing is make potato CVs even more worthless than they already are. -

Broken ships, the fault is on BB's
El2aZeR replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
I found that the playerbase does seem to prefer shooting cruisers and DDs over BBs regardless of the situation. It just so happens that this is actually the correct target choice in the majority of them, I seriously doubt they do it deliberately beyond "lul ez damage". -
22k avg dmg, 32% WR for enemy CV. 17k avg dmg, 43% WR for yours. This can't even be considered a CV match. Frankly this is both CVs basically being afk.

Is WG gonna fix matchmaking and options to opt out from CV matches?
El2aZeR replied to HMS_Daniil_Kvyat's topic in General Discussion
Wat, why? Think about all the deliciously easy targets you're missing out on! I'd rather take a match without any BBs. BBs are by far the most pain in the aft to deal with in CVs. -

El2aZeR replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
Tanking for the team is actually a pretty nonexistent concept given that there is literally no way to force the enemy to target you unlike in e.g. more classic RPGs where a tank may draw aggro with a skill or sth. In WoWs you're either a priority target or you aren't, thus tanking ability is a largely egoistical thing to have for the most part. You're only really tanking "for the team" if the enemy misplays and shoots you instead of a teammate of a higher priority. Thus your point about how BBs need to be as tanky as they are to "support the team" is completely moot. -
Well yeah, that's why I'm suspecting it's broken regardless. I highly doubt there were over 70 people in queue across all classes at 4am.
