    Even then it took a fair amount of time to set up a drop which could easily fail if someone in the general vicinity or even the DD itself had DFAA. And if you did fail the drop you had to wait several minutes before you could try again in addition to potentially losing a lot of extremely valuable aircraft. This is no longer the case, a CV simply doesn't get punished anymore for failing. It doesn't take that long to execute 3 runs on a DD in the rework especially since you barely care about the drop angle. The amount of reserves you get are ridiculous especially in the face of the utterly laughable AA situation right now. And if you don't happen to kill a DD on the first attack, no worries. You'll be back in 40-60 seconds which isn't NEARLY enough time for a DD to reposition. Besides, is it truly "better" that a DD has to suffer from continuous attacks rather than a single strike? If you think about it it's actually worse. E.g. a DD that gets killed instantly at minute 10 had 10 minutes to effectively influence the battle. A DD that gets harassed up until getting killed at minute 10 inevitably has to play ludicrously passive to even stand a chance to survive that long, aka was likely completely useless the entire time. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/cv8-how-to-tune/ Since we know for a fact that spotting rewards are practically non-existent anyway CVs in essence had the same economy as BBs.

    To put a bit of perspective into this GZ B has 1/3rd times more players than the other premium T8 CVs combined, including regular GZ, at 601 vs 393.

    A good rework CV player either takes the same amount of time killing a DD or is much faster. Since you're talking about cross drops and all, something most RTS CV players couldn't even attempt, then I suppose the incompetent rework CV players aren't relevant either, which contradicts your entire point. Except if your blatant bias would allow you to see it you'd realize that we are in fact comparing the best RTS CV players to the best of the rework. In such a case there were counterplay options even against the best RTS CV players which would lead to them getting shut down no matter how skilled they are, there are no such things against the best reworked CV players because such options fundamentally do not exist. This makes reworked CVs the only class to ever exist in this game that has literally no counterplay options no matter the composition or skill of the opposing force.

    There we have it, high tier CV numbers have increased by ~400 players. This is likely due to all the GZ B sales considering how many potatoes I've met in one so far. This also means it's likely a temporary increase.

    There was a TST or PTS change which modified CV economy gain from the previous RTS values to be equal to BBs. This hasn't changed until the recent nerf, the only CV that has had any economy change prior to that was Enterprise though it doesn't say whether it was increased or decreased. So from what we know CV base exp CAN actually be used for a viable comparison with BBs at least.

    Given that is one of the primary complaints about CVs now, I honestly wouldn't be too sure about fighters. Regardless though a return of dedicated fighter play isn't particularly necessary if you were to just make an interactive system between surface ships and CVs, although that really isn't a very likely option either given average playerskill.

    Both of which had about as many players combined as Shimakaze last week. Or about 200 less than Bismarck. Since when was my assessment based on my own personal opinion on the rework? The popularity fluctuations in relation to how easy to play and overpowered reworked CVs were over their history are an objective statistical basis which proves my point. Will it happen? Well, removal is definitely out of the question based on refunds alone, a complete rework or even a return to RTS on the other hand is in the realms of possibility albeit extremely unlikely. It still however means that it is objectively the only way to fix the rework. Whether it is likely to happen has little to do with that.

    Very simple. I wanted to fill my signature with something. Signature restrictions allowed for 3 pictures, so I picked 3 based on what other forumites were displaying at the time. Rather mundane, I know. I thought I've repeated those multiple times already. The history of the rework and its current situation is proof that the rework cannot be balanced and popular at the same time. Therefore the only solution that actually solves this is to scrap it and start anew. Continuing to attempt saving a fundamentally flawed system is futile and thus a waste of time. Popularity has nothing to do with effectiveness as you have so kindly pointed out with Shima. Or Bismarck for that matter. In the grand scheme of things even Hosho cannot be called popular. How about picking an argument that doesn't completely destroy your narrative sometime? 67% WR is supposed to be an indicator of a ship being overpowered?

    7-8 months huh? Oh boi, you missed some fun stuff. - speed of planes was nerfed - Midway DBs were nerfed, drop ellipse is now more similar to AP DBs and they tend to go towards the edge rather than the middle. This makes them unreliable against smaller DDs - Haku 4x TBs were removed, but they were largely useless anyway - HP pools have been reworked to provide smoother progression, resulting in a pretty hefty buff for T4-8 and a general nerf for T10 CVs. Midway DBs were hit hardest for whatever reason - AA system has been completely reworked -> DPS auras now overlap -> flak stops spawning at 3.5km distance to a ship -> DPS now targets the last plane in your squad rather than random damage distribution -> tickrate of DPS has been unified to something like 0.3 seconds -> sector reinforcement is now a button which deals a negligible amount of damage instantly and gradually ramps up DPS to 50%, stays there for a few seconds then goes on cd -> MAA skill has been reworked so that it increases the instant damage done, but removes the DPS bonus. This makes MAA completely useless as the damage is still negligible -> DFAA has been murdered, it now only provides a 50% boost to DPS while making flak pretty much instakill any plane -> DPS values have been heavily nerfed to the point where they are comparable to 0.8.0 - ships like DM, Kidd and Grozo now rank among the worst AA ships and are easy pickings for any experienced CV player. Most effective AA consumable is now the catapult fighter, the ships with most base DPS are now BBs - the AA reduction you got when attacking multiple ships is gone via bug, it was decided by WG to keep that bug - Enterprise has finally joined the likes of Belfast and GC in lootbox heaven on basis that she is op - Ark Royal has been released as a T6 premium, was a commercial failure as can be seen by her extremely low number of battles played - Langley and especially Hosho have been heavily buffed by increasing their TB attack wing and squad size, this is why so many players are now currently seal clubbing in T4 Did I miss anything?

    That's some truly sound logic right there. I mean I couldn't have put that into my signature for any other reason, no? How about bringing forth an actual argument for your case? So far you have characterized everyone who doesn't play CVs but criticize them as whiners, players who do play CVs but criticize them as hypocrites and threw a bunch of irrelevant nonsense at me. Nothing of which supports your point about how terrible CV players should be allowed to go unpunished while other classes should not. In fact you have actually brought an argument against it by stating that balancing around such players will, and in fact already has, ended in disaster. It's almost as if you have nothing to defend your narrative with at all.

    You have just defeated your own point. If the border hugging 20km torp spamming Shima isn't relevant then neither is the incompetent CV losing all their planes 5 mins into the match.

    Maybe you should address this issue at its core instead? I mean, this didn't happen when some certain T4 CVs were actually more balanced and not blatantly overpowered for their tier.

    Except CVs before the rework were punishable. I did state that I enjoy it, though not for the gameplay itself, no? Maybe if you had paid attention you would have noticed that I generally don't play T10 CVs anymore outside of divisions. Is this gonna be your new thing? "Omg try to reach your old stats first", "lol try doing that in Shokaku", "yeah right, you won't be able to do that in Saipan" has so far worked out oh so well for you, no? Besides, given that CVs are completely isolated from every other class I fail to see what the difference in division and solo stats are going to be aside from WR. Since when did I state that CVs are the only class that should be treated this way?

  23. Frankly I don't see this as feasible. As long as flak aim is automated it can be cheesed. The best way to avoid flak is to not having to dodge it after all. Such a new system would basically just be another blow to the already pitiful DPS values. As a sidenote, halving the reaction time to flak basically outright creates invis flak due to render delay. Just saying.

    If you want an accurate answer, new population data will hopefully be released tomorrow. Generally speaking though the CV population hasn't changed much over the past few weeks.
