Man, choosing the two examples that support your narrative but ignoring all others that don't. Your methods of providing scientific proof sure are astounding. Has anyone ever told you that lying about publicly available statistics isn't a very smart thing to do?

This is the first time I've referred to Monarch? At least I can't seem to remember the last time I did that. Well, that'd be a l2p issue, wouldn't it? After all flak is 100% avoidable due to the way it aims. Aside from being a multiplier for DPS and how much flak has a chance to spawn hit probability affects nothing else. Aside from the fact that you pulled the average damage stuff later on, I generally don't deal more damage in the rework? That's news to me. Honestly playing Saipan is boring. No other reason why I don't play her as often, really. She performs plenty well even when bottom tier. Because I will surely accept a bet which sets a completely unrealistic standard that skews it in your favor. That you even have to resort to that tells the whole story. Don't worry tho, your prayers have been answered. Haven't you read the new patchnotes? Midway is getting a hilarious buff via gaining the best TBs in the game.

As was mine. According to his own performance Midway does far better in ranked than Haku, yet he characterizes Haku as superior. Seems rather contradictory given that he's using his own experience and not hard facts to justify his reasoning, no? While Kremlin is certainly a better target for AP DBs, that doesn't mean Midway is ineffective in dealing with her. Smolensk AA doesn't even rank as mediocre. Or do you really want to characterize Monarch as an AA fortress since she has over 100 more total DPS output? Lets list the things that have worked out for you using this modus operandi so far, shall we? - "Reach 80%+ WR again!" Did it again. Nope. - "Do that in a CV that isn't op like Shokaku!" Did it in Shokaku. Nyet. - "LOL try Saipan and see if you can!" Did it in Saipan. This is getting embarrassing, isn't it? - "Hahahaha, you don't even play Midway anymore outside of divs! She's so weak!" Started playing Midway again. I can ALMOST see how weak she is. So are you really, REALLY sure you want to humiliate yourself in this manner for the 5th time?

Is Le Terrible/Le Fantasque going to be the best ship for the upcoming ranked sprint?
El2aZeR replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
According to people who have played on PTS DDs in general stand no chance whatsoever. The maps are too big and even if you do come into gun range, you lack the damage output to kill a CV. -

El2aZeR replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
Says a lot about the average CV playerbase tbh. French DDs have no defense against CVs whatsoever. Given some basic competence the CV will come out on top even in a direct firefight. GZ is crippled by only having 2 out of 3 squad types usable with any kind of reliability, neither of which has good reserves or hitting power. Her AA is actually terrible so she is inherently incapable of denying even a single attack wing strike which nullifies fighter usage. In a direct fight pretty much any other CV barring Implacable should win, yes. -

Pretty much every other CV? -

Or perhaps you're simply not as good as you think you are? Given that you believe DDs can "easily dodge" Midway ordinance seems to imply such. Besides, based on your numbers Midway does far better than Haku, as such your opinion on the matter is in contradiction to yourself. Also the exp nerf is -10% flat and another -15% on a loss for a total of -25%. Your guess of -30% was actually not that far off. Do rejoice though, Midway is getting a very hefty buff next patch.

By comparison? Montana has the highest DPS currently, followed by a slew of other BBs. By effectiveness? Anything that can mount the catapult fighter. In actually denying a strike? Nothing.

Günther Lütjens added directly to the Armory for 175k coal in 0.7.11. No campaign, no directives (for now?)
El2aZeR replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Frankly the spotting ribbon bonus is broken. Because the spotting system is currently broken. It awards spotting ribbons even if you didn't actually spot the ship. You can even earn them when you're dead. This makes Lütjens potentially extremely op. Wouldn't be an issue if WG were to actually spend time fixing bugs, but hah, who am I kidding? -
Bots use auto pilot last I checked. The new auto pilot system is utterly terrible.

It's because most threads about CVs get locked. The regularity of CV complaint threads has actually increased pretty harshly in my experience. Minotaur, Worcester and especially Smolensk have mediocre to terrible AA.

Well, if we assume I'm going to take the same losses as this first run (which was 5 planes. Yes, one of those actually survived. Praised be new immunity altitude), that should allow me to make 2 more runs at it in combination with plane regen before I run dry of TiTs. Which ofc leaves all my other reserves untouched an ready to use. By the time I expend those TiTs will be ready to go again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And that is ofc assuming I'm actually dumb enough to waste time pursuing a target that has had its match potential neutered by my first strike.

Extra planes are far more valuable.

Why so little control over CVs aircrafts ?
El2aZeR replied to sergentthereal's topic in General Discussion
Because clearly what we need is potato CVs crashing into mountains/the sea because they aren't useless enough yet. Christ, can you even imagine that? (Although it is a funny thought I suppose.) -
To show you what more balanced CVs actually look like I suppose?
-
No they couldn't. Their high concealment, limited range and high shell travel time over high range inherently prevents that. There is nothing theoretical about this. Again, CVs have extreme influence over what caps can be taken, that they cannot do so themselves afterwards is just an aspect of their inherent playstyle. If e.g. a CV kills the only DD on a flank at the beginning of the match, yielding a free cap, then that means he has secured that cap for his team, not whatever ship is going to take that cap.

Which tiers do you find the most fun to play?

Again, their low stats in these categories has something to do with the inherent playstyle of CVs and not with their capabilities in that regard. Statistics are completely useless on this matter. Blindly pointing towards stats without analysis yields you nothing.
-
Except they are neither the worst cap contesters nor the worst tanking ships. CVs are capable of wiping out entire flanks on their own. That they then can't take the cap before teammates do is a simple symptom of their positioning rather than being bad at it. So while they themselves will usually not take a cap, they have tremendous influence over what caps can be taken by their teammates. Because of that they are one of, if not outright the best cap contesters. CVs are practically cruisers with more health and near immunity to fires. Some even get armored flight decks which makes them outright immune to mid-long range fire when angled. That their tanking stats are so low is once again a symptom of their positioning rather than their ability to take punishment. A CV will outtank most same tier cruisers and all DDs easily in practically all situations. Their unlimited range also means they never actually have to put themselves into harms way in the first place. Given that this game centers around damage avoidance rather than being able to take it for most ships this actually makes CVs the most survivable class, which is in fact reflected in stats. Now you may argue that planes are what defines the survivability of CVs, not their HP pool or hull. It used to be like that in the RTS iteration, to a certain extend this is still true. However because of the enormous reserves a reworked CV may field in combination with the extremely weak AA nowadays that'd still define CVs as one of the most "tanky" classes in the game. Tanking and capping stats are completely useless because they do not show the actual capabilities of a CV in these categories.
-
It's the easiest way to escape punishment for leaving the match (unless ofc reported to WG support). Just sail your ship to the map corner and go back to port. You get like 100 exp for that alone. Seen it aplenty this year. "Omg not another CV match, I'm leaving." etc. Are you actually for real? Minotaur had more base AA than most cruisers WITH DFAA active.
-
Once I spotted for about 250k damage primarily on DDs and cruisers (aka the most profitable ships) in a RTS CV. Dealt little to no damage in that match because the positioning of the enemy AA was stellar. I finished that match 2nd to last at about 500 base exp, of which you get about 100 to 150 for just moving around (I'm not joking, it is possible to gain exp for movement). Because spotting economy was actually nerfed for reworked CVs we can assume that on average you'll be gaining perhaps 150 exp or so for spotting on average. Tbh even that number seems rather high to me. Yes, it sure is great that AA doesn't work anymore. The problem with AA divs was not the effectiveness of AA. It was that AA divs could force a CV in a match where no other player was prepared for it. The solution thus should have been to equalize AA to prepare everyone for the possibility of a CV match, not murdering AA so no one can defend themselves anymore. To call this "fixed" or even "better than before" is the height of stupidity. Lets put some math behind this, shall we? Sector reinforcement has a 5 seconds ramp up time, 5 seconds active time and 10 seconds cooldown. For you to use SR 5x that means a squad needs to stay inside your AA for over 1 1/2 minutes. Neither competent nor incompetent CVs will actually stay that long inside your AA because the incompetent CV will die to flak while the competent CV will finish all strikes faster than SR will go off cd. That is not realistic. That is pure fantasy.

CV spotting? Ironically stealth fire didn't become an issue until after CVs became extremely unpopular. Stealth fire is old. It came from a time when CVs were still regularly encountered. Wow, yeah, which includes stats all the way from launch when full strike CVs were still a thing. Truly a representative result. /s At least do some basic research, will you? Yes. There was something called the guaranteed destruction tick. IJN cruiser AA was also decent to excellent depending on tier, especially in combination with DFAA. 30k AA damage is basically one and a half rocket squads. It's completely irrelevant. Here's a good question tho, can a Musashi wipe out half a Saipan strike nowadays before they can attack? Because back then it could. To even remotely characterize rework AA as more effective or more fair is extremely laughable.
