Greetings, fellow captains.
When comparing the specs of the tier 9 and 10 destroyers I find myself wondering why I would ever choose the Japanese DDs over their US counterparts. While the tradeoff between nigh inusable guns and short range torpedoes at the lower tiers seems fairly balanced, from tier 9 (maybe even tier 8) on upwards the range of the US torpedoes gets "good enough". Shots over a longer distance seem to depend on luck mainly so the only real advantage the insane ranges of the Japanese torpedoes brings to the table is area denial.
Isn't it strictly better to have more guns (or twice the reload speed) that turn six to nine times faster as it gives you the edge over other destroyers?
Does the better concealment of the IJN DDs make up for it? Has anyone driven both and can share his/her insight?
