In certain games the pysics can go wrong at really high fps, i too noticed the cap at 76 fps. i think it depends on the way the engine is coded. some of the E.A games work that way. Need for speed rivals was not only a terrible game too me and it suffered this problem. the framerate was locked at 60 fps. using a mod you could unlock it but instead of running smoother the game just speeded up the higher the fps. This made the game unplayable. Check totalbiscuit's video on need for speed rivals (wtf is need for speed rivals) and he talks about this issue. hope this helps a little.
