Sorry to disappoint you but this is not for the lulz. Crowning of the Winter King will be the tournament with the most numbers of participating teams on the EU server and will lead up to even bigger events in the future. What is true that we had little time (<8weeks) to develop it and a small staff so be gentle as this is our free time we are investing to provide content for the community. There are 2 different things: size and distribution Yes size matters! We are happy that we were given a prize pool twice the size of OMCC without anyone knowing if we can lift this or if there is any demand for such tournament. With the unexpected huge demand we are facing right now we should be able to increase the prizes we get from WG in the future. If you look into the distribution for other online/offline tournaments you will find that the winner takes 40-50% of the share. So we figured out a distribution in which you double the value of your earnings with every win: Place 16-9 11% Place 8-5 11% Place 4 5% Place 3 11% Place 2 21% Place 1 42% This way we want to hand out prizes to as many teams as possible and provide high quality prizes for the winner as well. Then we tried to find adequate prizes for each %, which isn’t easy but we are happy with the results. You cannot find a date fitting for everybody, especially in December. So we had to pick a date when all of the organizers are available. We hope that there will be a lot more events in the future so that missing one isn’t so painfull.

Just to make it clear to everyone: To give everyone the same chances we only accept complete registrations. If you change your roster later we will count the latest change as time of registration! So if there are teams more than 32 teams we take these dates to determine the first 32.

It’s a tricky thing to find the “right” amount of players per team. The biggest problem is the prizes. In OMCC and Operation Pedestal only 9 and 6 players received the full prizes because Wargaming doesn’t want to give out prizes to players who are not playing. We managed to get full prizes for a 12 man roster because we see the necessity to change players. We imagined that 12 players would be enough for a short 2 day tournament. There are only 3 matches on the first day with a maximum of 3 games per match. In general we will try to make the roster bigger if the tournament takes longer. Soon™ We are sorry that we are a little behind schedule due to our own real-life stuff. But we are doing everything to get it online within today.

So far I really love the tournament! Big thank you to all the organizers. What I don’t like is that some casters (especially in the TAW vs. KRAKN match yesterday) are picking hard on players mistakes. Most of the guys playing in the group stages are quite new to this kind of gameplay and instead of flaming them into the ground we, as a community, should encourage them to continue playing and getting better at it. “That was bad” and “How could he do this” don’t belong on stream. But not only new players get into the focus, even some of the very best. Dawn_of_the_Poi_Empire got very harsh, unwarranted, criticism for his gameplay this shows no respect for the players doing their best. So to the casters: explain the game, explain the moves but don’t flame players on stream. Try focus on the positive or you risk to discourage players from competing.

Let's talk about Battleships and their current state right now in the game.

Hey Wave wb! Wavecave is one of the best BB players i ever played with. He knows how to overperform with this class and i recommend to listen to him. In general every class should be able to be outplayed by others but not out "randomised". Sadly BBs are balanced around dispersion and dispersion is a very frustrating mechanic. Carriers and Cruisers can do their dmg constitantly as BBs can do a 1 shot or miss them all. I think as a cruiser its more dangerous to show your side to another cruiser than to a BB because u have a good chance the BBs misses even below 10km. In my opinion BB dispersion should be lowered to punish bad plays consistantly. On the other hand general dmg should be lowered and angling should play a bigger role. Right now you can get citadelled as cruiser from every angle. This would make playing well more rewarding and punish bad decisions.
