Easter egs as resourse for rewards.

Are you also seeing zero when you look at the news item from within the game? If yes, it looks like something may have broken - perhaps put a ticket in?

Easter egs as resourse for rewards.

Did you click the 'participate' button (or whatever the exact wording was) in the news item?

    suggestions for better spotting

Ah, anything to avoid having to learn how to counter sneaky bastiches?!

    Best T8 Carrier now?

Pure CV target PoV (my CVs generally live in Coop/Ops): I don't think anyone serious would describe the Russian CVs as weak, but I might suggest they're perhaps less influential than most others. Of course they hit hard, but the 'single wave' attack means they can't leverage spotting to anything like the same extent as other CVs (at least, not without doing less damage per unit time). Naturally, my view is very DD-centric; others may have a different opinion...

How is the matching making so full of these?

You're assuming they know about them; this may be over-estimating their knowledge of the game...?
  6. I picked up Yamagiri; I've played her enough to get the supercontainer. I quite like her to play, and her gimmick doesn't seem game-breaking (at least at my level of competence); that said, my WR is entirely awful so far - presumably a mixture of my own incompetence, and making the mistake of playing her during peak time over the long weekend (Friday was especially painful for some reason)...! Economically, the issues are exactly as everyone else has said; even though I've got her captain to 21 points now, the rewards for playing her are generally eclipsed by playing T9-T10. I don't intend buying any more of these things, at least until/unless we get a Super-Daring, or maybe a Super-Groz/Super-Halland (and assuming they don't suck).

Superships: I see no way back from this.

Does anyone know how much of a gap (time-wise) there needs to be between the hit that takes the target below 75% and the one that detonates it? Presumably, it could theoretically be done by a spread of torps coming in at an angle relative to perpendicular to the target's long axis, so the torps hit in sequence (albeit with a short interval with hits)?

Superships: I see no way back from this.

I'm not hugely familiar with Eagle, but it doesn't seem terribly likely: I suppose it's remotely possible if you detonate one of the big BBs...? Edit: Not possible - see post immediately prior to mine...

How did it do this? Which aircraft were used?

    bit desperate ?

I'll certainly be playing mine less, now I've knocked off the SC. I have Yamagiri: I quite like her; she's more interesting to play than Shima (IMO, of course), but - as pointed out by @JohnnieK13 - there isn't much reason to play these things from a reward perspective. I get why Yamagiri was released: Shima is (I believe) the most played DD, so it's logical to follow on from her. Trouble is, torp spamming gets old after a while; if WG want me to actively play a supership, it probably needs to be something like a Super-Daring...

Superships: I see no way back from this.

I doubt superships are going anywhere, for all the usual 'sunk cost' reasons; besides that, we 'know' that quite a few players like them (cf that thread last week - ? - with someone having conniptions because they couldn't keep their test freebie; besides that, I saw quite a few in battles over the weekend). The down-side, naturally, is that they devalue all the T10 and T9 ships that people have (with a fair chunk of the latter having been paid for with money, I'd guess); on the other hand, it's not inconceivable that they may trigger a slight renaissance for the T8 premiums - if T9 plus are being dragged into T11 battles, it *might* mean fewer occasions of being uptiered in T8s? My suspicion though is that supership numbers may settle at a tolerable level, once the initial excitement dies down: for most players, they are going to be expensive to run, and the rewards benefits of playing them are questionable. You're probably going to make less silver than in a comparable lower tier ship; the xp that you earn has no direct value (beyond 'earn xp' missions); there is value in the captain and free xp that you earn, but you'll probably do better with lower tier ships - it's (by definition) never possible to get the boosts from shooting higher tier targets. Full disclosure: I picked up Yamagiri, and have played her enough to get the supercontainer (with an entirely awful WR). I actually quite like her, although I much prefer things like Daring, Vampire II, Halland/Smaland. Personally, I don't feel that superships are 'sky falling' disasters for the game (although it would probably be better for the game if they weren't in it); they're essentially 'what we already have, only more so'. It's the current implementation of submarines that's seriously damaging...

    Hornet: Why I despise Discord.

While we seem to be engaging in a little pedantry (which is always a laudable activity, of course): That should be 'North American B-25'; 'Mitchell' is the thing's name... @Seraphice - do you lot care about this sort of thing? I assume it's a typo, should you be interested...
  14. Not an achievement, as such, but some more data apropos superships and finances of running same: Personal score: Team score (my bit of it): Detail page: Credits and XP: So, 1.1 million silver profit, but that was signalled up to the eyeballs, and using one of my limited stash of For Meritorious Service camouflages (not to mention premium account; as you'll see, it would have been 714K profit without it).

    Hornet: Why I despise Discord.

The most recent patch features a change to aircraft aesthetics - they now reflect the cammo that you have mounted on the CV in question. Since we're talking about Hornet, these are the 'alt' pattern Mitchells: ...and this happens if you apply Golden Week, and so on...

    bit desperate ?

It'll be interesting to see whether the effectiveness of superships increases now that you have to have three T10s before they unlock, as opposed to giving them to just anybody. (Mind you, the embarrassing run of defeats I had yesterday in Yamagiri won't have done the ship's stats any good...!)
  17. Verblonde

    bit desperate ?

It's not about the standard xp, but rather the other types that flow from it, so +100% standard xp also means +100% captain xp (say), before you add any other specific captain xp boost to the mix. Earning normal xp on superships (any elited ship come to that) only really matters directly for 'earn x xp' missions etc. but indirectly it can be quite valuable.

    unique commanders and retraining ...

Very true, but you can't - for example - stick your Alsace captain on the PA version. They're new ships for the purposes of this discussion. What I was thinking was more some 'thing' you could buy for - say - Fiji that turns her into (effectively) a premium. I suspect you might cannibalise some premium ship sales; it would be a question of whether the new revenue stream would more than make up for it or not (bearing in mind that once the basic mechanic was in place, they'd be much less dev work needed than for an entirely new premium ship).
  19. Verblonde

    unique commanders and retraining ...

The idea isn't new - it's been in WOT Blitz for several years, I think (although there, the moving crew thing is less pertinent, so it's really about the silver earnings)...
  20. Verblonde

    unique commanders and retraining ...

The only change I can imagine WG countenancing might be some way to 'premiumise' a silver ship (for money, naturally) i.e. make it function like an equivalent premium for captain/economy purposes. No idea how hard it would be to implement, but I imagine it could be lucrative... As to the existing system, it is what it is; we just have to deal with it. Would I like an extra Ovenchicken, or Cunningham, or two, say? Sure, but it's not a disaster having only one - just assign 'em to the silver ship you like best (and meshes best with the captains' enhancements etc.)...

    bit desperate ?

WG will have to be careful with this; I suspect that if the credit economy is made too harsh, a lot of f2p folk may stop playing. Whilst that doesn't impact the 'vodka and negotiable affection' funds directly, it'll make queue times longer, and might discourage the paying customers as well, which would. I personally think that WG have already dropped a b0llock with the superships' permaflage, in terms of good business: why would anyone spend 5,000 doubloons on a permaflage when the ubiquitous one-use cammos have better bonuses: As was done to death on the thread specifically about this, most (?) people have an abundance of one-use cammo, so why spend doubloons for worse bonuses? If I were WG I would have gone with something like 100%, 200%, 200% as a minimum, assuming the whole point is to make these things expensive (in silver) to play...

I'm getting this in the Game Centre for the EU server, but not for NA...? Update: NA game starts, but Armory [sic] isn't available...

    bit desperate ?

FWIW here are some results screens from a victory in Randoms, running the stripey credit-boosting cammo, but no economic signals: Front page: My bit of the team page: Detail page: Credits and XP (with credit detail opened): So, not a bad battle for me, with reasonable damage (albeit mostly done to lower tiers) and 16 planes shot down: You'll note I completed a mission of some sort, which earned 200,000 silver. Without that mission, I would have been 30,548 in the black (without the Ocean Soul, I'd have been in the red to the tune of 39-40K). Since I can't rely on doing that much damage every battle (I'm one of the weaker players on the forum), not losing lots of silver with this thing is probably going to require consistent credit-boosting economic signal/cammo use, if For Meritorious Service isn't available. That sounds about right, given what we know about the intended economy of superships, but it does mean I may actually play this thing now and again - she's more fun than Shima, even if you have to work harder to justify your slot.
  24. Verblonde

    bit desperate ?

I did something vaguely similar for Super-Shima: I had a 20-point Suzuki (? - one of the IJN brothers with boosted SE) which I'd earmarked for Shima if I ever needed a decent captain on her; he's now assigned to Yamagiri (with torp build - I'd mainly been using him for torp premiums previously)...
  25. Verblonde

    bit desperate ?

I seem to have a little north of fifty - mainly due to repeatedly forgetting I have them (it helps too that, because I'm an idiot, rather a lot of my high tier ships have permaflage)... So, we have an easy (albeit with a sort-of 'use by' date) way to stop the superships being a credit sink; after work, I'll do some testing with credit-boosting cammo in Randoms, and see what sort of impact that has...
