PSA: if anyone has a dormant alt account kicking around, it looks like WG are making their latest attempt too woo people back: Also: Incidentally, I'm not sure it's working - when I logged into my dormant alt, 'all' I got was a SC mission chain - no T5 ship container. Your mileage may vary. A freebie T9 ship for 15 battles isn't bad - if the mission works for you...

When did I mention that you should have known? I merely said that the poster you seem to have taken exception to had a point about the first ten points on a DD build (which they do). I suggest you resist the urge to get your knickers in a twist at every little thing; not everyone on here has English as a first language, and a certain amount of tact/nuance may not always be present as a result (besides which, many folk don't have time to write long and flowery prose on a forum).
-
I'm afraid I must confess myself lost. The 'standard' DD build for the first ten points is exactly what this thread is about...?
-
Whilst there may be a slight deficit in the tact department, I'm afraid he does have a point: with a very few exceptions, the first ten points on almost any DD should always go on PM, LS, SE, and CE: This assumes one is going for 'optimal' rather than some sort of weird 's**ts and giggles' build.

Excellent form!
-
A little early for the Absinthe, isn't it...?
-
BTW I would strongly suggest keeping both Lightning and Jutland as 'keepers'; they're both excellent in their own right. It's now quite possible that my Daring will be permanently known as 'Darling'...!
-
I must admit I'm wondering if my poor results with less sneaky DDs is in part due to not running RL; next time there's a reset, I'll have to give it another try... Very good point about making life harder for the Underwater W4nkers; that might well provide a good enough reason to make more widespread use of the skill (assuming WG don't fix submarines).

Nope, not cheated; it's pretty much the same sketch that WG have used for previous early access 'events': The whole thing runs over two patches (for the Italian DDs, we're currently on the second one). First patch, you can earn whatever the tokens are for free; the supporting news stories have started listing what you can get for free (this time, if memory serves, it was the T7 ship, plus permaflage). During the first patch, there are also many and various ways to spend money to get more stuff early (whales, for the uses of); for the Italian DDs, you could even get the T10 (although the spend involved was all manner of stupid). During the second patch, the stuff you can buy remains in play, but the freebies are replaced with something else (in this case it's the collection, completion of which gives you a T6 premium DD). This stuff isn't all some big secret though; it was all detailed in the supporting news stories. WG have turned the whole "if they were an ice-cream flavour, they'd be Pralines & Richard" thing into an art-form on many occasions, but this isn't really one of them...

FWIW this is my current Daring captain: To address the obvious: Although RL is clearly powerful, I tend to find I get better use (at the level I play) from other things; besides which, a decent player can do a lot with the knowledge that someone on the opposing side has got him with RL (even I can make good use of that information). I tend to play fairly aggressively; in that context, PT can be very helpful - there is a big difference between one opponent pointing main guns at you and half a dozen doing so, and knowing which it is can be very helpful! To provide context, this is the ship build I run: Needless to say, I wouldn't definitively say all this is 'right', but it's what I find works okay for me.

L. Tarigo, what's people experinces so far?
Verblonde replied to Ashleyphotog's topic in General Discussion
Due to being at one with my inner cetacean, I haven't played the T7 much (and basically stuck to Coop), and have rather focused more on the T9; it's still early days, but things seem to get vaguely fun at about T8. In the hands of all but the most purple of players, I suspect these things won't be displacing the usual suspects for 'serious' play; that said, I'm rather enjoying the T9, even if I tend to be rubbish in less sneaky DDs. There are far better things to play, but the 'ludicrous speed' booster is nice (if short-lived), and the fuel smoke can be splendid - it's the only DD smoke you can manoeuvre hard whilst using and remain concealed. WG - again - appear to have designed this line to be irritating in the middle tiers, so as to encourage free-xping to the point where things get interesting... -
Submarines interaction can´t get worse? Now on PTS..
Verblonde replied to OldSchoolFrankie's topic in General Discussion
"Looking at" in the sense of merely observing the thing, or "Looking at" in the sense of actually doing something about it? Submarines in their current form make the game measurably worse (except - conceivably - for griefers); only casting your eyes over the problem is going to produce far worse commercial results than actually fixing it. -
Well, I didn't get luck with the Firepower containers, but the final T9 could have been a lot worse:
-
Well, I just logged into my alt: and: Fair play: WG fixed it - all is now exactly as promised in the email...

I usually gravitate towards various premium DDs, if I'm playing proper modes (so Haida's been getting a bit of a run-out in Bronze Ranked), with an eye to Naval Battles over the weekend. In PvE, I tend to go for BBs, cruisers, plus an occasional CV (Hornet especially recently, plus just-acquired Richthofen). Generally, I play individual ships until I bag the 'first win' bonus, and then move onto something else; tends to result in a lot of variety, but really doesn't help the WR...! (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

Ah - this is the most compelling reason to run mods that I've yet to see. Thank you!

Separation of economic bonuses from camos and signals
Verblonde replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Naturally - I trust WG about as far as I could comfortably spit a rat on this sort of stuff. Still, in this particular case, they haven't done anything too egregious. Yet. I'm not sure how typical of the customer base I am, but one thing I like about WOWS (in stark contrast to WOT, and which largely explains why I play WOT much less than WOWS these days) is the comparatively benign economy - if it was made to be a lot more grindy, I'd just play a lot less... -

I recall reading that, under the new system, the reduction in spotting distance will become baked into the ships' spotting distances? Is that not the case? -
Anyone knows the exact requirements for bonuses?
Verblonde replied to Sir_Grzegorz's topic in General Discussion
My guess is along the following lines: If you've never done a 'come back' mission in the past (I think I got Azuma on my alt last year as a result of the last go-around), you'll get what the email promises. If you have (like on my alt), you get the lesser 'SC' mission chain instead. That would be fine, as such, if WG had sent an accurate email that was a true reflection of that. They didn't bother to mention any exclusions on the email, so it's false advertising (or whatever the relevant term is for misleading emails)... -
I don't understand the hostility to the Easter Egg hunt; apart from the mild irritation of there not being separate counters for the two stages, it's a perfectly fine warmer months promo to encourage people to play more...? The person in first place is spectacularly unlikely to be a bot (quite apart from the solid evidence provided by @ThePurpleSmurf) for the simple reason that bot programs are simply not good enough to get a 66%+ overall WR in randoms (purple pretty much across the board come to that), as far as I'm aware.

Anyone knows the exact requirements for bonuses?
Verblonde replied to Sir_Grzegorz's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure WG are running an A-B test here - half the recipients get the dodgy 'clock', and the other half get nada. I've seen this sort of pretend countdown used before in Ecomm; I think the assumption is that no-one will check the clock more than once. Regardless, if WG are not going to deliver what the email promises in some cases (I'm guessing anyone who's had a 'please come back' reward before, even if it was different - the Firepower containers didn't exist the last time they did this sort of thing, for example), it's probably a legal requirement that there is small print to that effect on the email somwhere. Oops... -

Hmmm, I took this screen-shot a moment ago: Anyone notice anything strikingly similar about the one I posted yesterday (post #9)? So, not a genuine count-down... -

I think that's Eastern though, so about five in the morning UK time... -

Either some incompetent A-B testing, or someone messed up at least one batch of the emails...? Timer in context:
