USS Missouri will become unavailable with 0.7.2 (roughly 2 months from now), a new T9 BB will take its place

Me too - a silver-printing T9 cruiser in the mould of Leander, De Grasse, or Nurnberg would be preferable, but in their absence... -

It supposedly earns a sack-load of silver, even in poor games; not having to worry too much about earning silver is rather valuable, if you're time-poor. That's why I'd like one... -

I might be tempted if there is a conversion bonus, but unlikely otherwise. I have no business anywhere near a T9 at the moment, so it would be a purchase for the future (I'm actively grinding several lines, so don't have much free xp kicking around)... -
LWM review of Duke of York is up on US forums

On the up-side, if DoY is dreadful, I don't need to worry too much if I'm too rubbish/busy over Xmas to do the necessary marathon... -
No special ship offers in the premium shop

Post-script to my last: I understand it's the basic in-game crate. Still, free's free... -

Speaking of the WOT Gift Boxes, the code HULSE14 should give you a free one (it seems to be working, but I'm not at home, so can't check in-game)... Edit: not sure *which* type of crate it is though i.e. the bought ones versus the lesser ones you win in-game. -
A Tribal class DD? Doubt I'll be able to resist, even if it is rubbish...

Objectively, if you are a WOT player as well as WOWS, there is a lot to be said for the gift boxes: you get at least the money's worth of gold, and generally a lot more. The premium time, for example, is universal; the gold in WOT can be used to get more premium time as well (although I've spent most of mine on exciting new premium tanks, but then WOT is my main diversion, although WOWS is rapidly catching up)... -
It's a bit surprising that there is still nothing in WOWS; I had a rather weak weekend and bought a bunch of the WOT crates - I now have a fair amount of gold (mostly spent on exciting premiums on the NA server), and a Lorry, but no Type 59, alas. I don't supposed WG mind too much, as I still spent with them, but it does rather reduce the budget available to spend on boats...

Based on WOT mainly, I tend to find that if I have extensive premium time, I play the game too much i.e. I feel that not playing is 'wasting' my purchase. Even though it's a pretty good deal (even with the bloat), I think I'll pass. If there wasn't any bloat, I probably would have bought it anyway (I'm still working through a year I got for half price last year on the NA server)...

I think I read somewhere that Christmas in Russia (WG is essentially Russian, after all) happens later than in the west? Tanks' Christmas thing only starts tomorrow (on the NA server, anyway, haven't looked at EU), so perhaps a little patience is the order of the day.

Can we expect a World of Tanks miracle again?

Stealing WOT's rewards/points for spotting damage, and assisted damage would be a good start... -
Worked - many thanks for posting this!

Liking mine a lot in PvE so far, but haven't been brave enough to face real people in randoms yet; T6 still gives me a lot of trouble...

Can we expect a World of Tanks miracle again?
Verblonde replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
To be fair, the WOWS EU forum population has been pretty friendly to me, so far. I think a key part of that is that I'm well aware that I'm still pretty useless, and want to improve; people seem to react better to that than the "I got tonked, and it's everyone else's fault" type of approach. -
Battle of the River Plate - wot no RN Cruisers?
Verblonde replied to invicta2012's topic in General Discussion
I'd buy a premium Ajax, even if it was a simple clone of Leander; c'mon WG - there must be plenty of idiots like me out there; think of the lovely money you could make... -

Comparing WOT and WOWS, the latter has a few inter-related elements that make it especially hard for newbies. A key one is that (I think) the proportion of competent players is higher in WOWS, and that especially applies to mid tiers. In WOT, there are plenty of unicums, but their impact is diluted rather by the huge player base (varying a bit with between servers); even above average players don't feel excessively prevalent. In WOWS, it feels like you meet more better players, and much sooner (in terms of tier progression); this makes it easier to get vapourised/disheartened sooner. Having said that, it is mitigated by the excellent PvE modes that WOWS has (which also makes up for lower server populations off-peak); WOT doesn't really have any equivalent 'paddling pools' for new players to muck around in - you're playing against real people more or less from the off, although the better players tend to concentrate at T8 and above, unlike WOWS (where you seem to encounter them from around T6). I think the key difference (which will ensure WOWS remains more niche than WOT) is that WOT is generally much faster paced, and a lot more instantaneous, as others have alluded to. Games tend to be shorter in WOT too, so making it more conducive to a quick casual blast than WOWS. Personally, I like both games a lot, but which one I play at a given moment depends largely on on things like time available and mood; WOWS is more of a 'session' game, which will always reduce the number of people with the time/inclination to play it. -
Same answer for WOT too - platoons of more than three would massively unbalance the game (in randoms, anyway)...
-
Worked for me too - many thanks for drawing it to everyone's attention.

Maybe the clan is question decided that profane in-game names weren't cool, and this is nothing to do with whose imaginary friend is better than whose at all...? BTW *how* is this thread not closed already?

Thank you very much to all the kind people who have organised this, and donated prizes - very much appreciated. Might I enter too, please: 1) Alabama. 2) T-61 (if available), otherwise Molotov. 3) Doubloons for everything else.

weekend specials spoiling us too much?
Verblonde replied to ammattimies's topic in General Discussion
There doesn't seem to be *anything* of note happening this weekend - did I miss something? (unless you count the competition, for those who live in the right countries) -
Er, seriously? You want *everything* to have the same visibility as everything else? So, by that logic, a sneaky DD should be as visible as a BB the size of a power station...? Wut?!
