Useless biological factoid that may influence people one way or t'other: sharks (kind of) have two willies...
-
Radar? I thought the two were utterly identical (haven't looked in game yet)?
-
Presumably, T8s are going to have a slightly lively time with MM during this event, if T10s are the way to go for most efficient farming?
-
Bought Boise; basically a mixture of pragmatic reasons (I already have at least one captain with sufficient skills), and emotional (I'm not comfortable paying money for something with NdJ's later history). Not entirely rational, since I'll eventually get NdJ in my garage anyway, but there you go...

Captain skills for US CL line also good for Atlanta?
Verblonde replied to Ryouzanpakku's topic in General Discussion
Presumably, cleansing the heretic with fire is an acceptable alternative to cleansing with prodigious dakka, for the discerning gentleman? -
That's the thing about detonation that annoys me also - the sheer randomness. I don't mind it in the game, in principle, because IRL (for what that's worth) ships did blow up catastrophically, so its presence adds to the (admittedly rather threadbare, especially in the context of the anti-det flags!) historical aspects of the game. It would be nice if a better mechanic could be developed though, so the RNG element is lessened (I still feel sorry for the hapless Atlanta I detonated early in my career with a single snapshotted HE round; neither of us had the slightest idea what happened at the time) I suspect this may be a competence issue in part: for a tuber such as myself, detonations are no worse than having done something stupid and got some BB's broadside emptied into your citadel; meanwhile, most good players will generally avoid such attacks of the stupids, making a detonation a far bigger (and much more annoying) event, as it's one of the few things that can't be mitigated by skill. Perhaps changing the mechanic somehow, so a skilled player could do something about it might help?

LOL! Just as well I wasn't drinking something - that would have killed my keyboard!
-
Although it might simply be more screen clutter, some sort of optional icon on the screen that changed colour as your detonation risk increased might be helpful (assuming the mechanic stays); green meaning low risk, amber moderate, and red meaning don't even talk loudly...? Some sort of 'flood magazine' consumable might be worthwhile too: reduces risk of that magazine going off entirely, but at the cost of disabling the guns it's feeding?

I would kill (well, okay, use harsh language) to have Porco driving my ships; I'd be very keen on the fire demon from Howl's too (a la the cat we already have), not to mention several of the sky pirates (Porco Rosso again)...

Look at my massive data-set - feel the quality...!

Any chance a US version of the "Boise" will be available??
Verblonde replied to Yogibjoern's topic in General Discussion
So, if you're going to play anyway, if you buy one, you get the other free (eventually)? That's actually rather a good deal, if I haven't misunderstood... -
I bought one, because a) I'm an idiot, and b) curiosity - I got 24 of the 'lots of free xp' flag (can't remember what it's called)...
-
As a keen student of linguistics, this word intrigues me - I can't help wonder if it shares roots in a similar dialect to 'bigly', and 'covfefe'...?
-
This. The creepy stuff (to quote a great philosopher I once knew) "makes my f*ckin' sh*t itch", but there is a lot of anime out there that is fine and splendid - Porco Rosso should also be added to the above list (yup - more Ghibli)...
-
<pauses to look up what 'loli' actually means> Ew!
-
I could use a few ten-pointers too, although I would prefer to buy standard issue ones though (I already have no shortage of anime ones)...

I think there is a distinction: whilst the ship was Boise, only standard military things happened with her (as far as I know); if you're buying Boise, you are buying the ship as she was up until whenever she got transferred to Argentina i.e. pre-ghastliness. By blaming Boise for what would later happen on her as 9dJ, you're arguably doing the equivalent of kicking a child because they'll later grow up to be (say) Donald Trump. -
For some reason, I'm reminded of Sir, You Are Being Hunted - that was hilarious (although I was rubbish at it)...

How Many Battles In A Premium Ship Before It Pays For Itself?
Verblonde replied to The_Finnster's topic in General Discussion
Well, one great gamer, and me... -
Sounds promising - I'd play that!
-
Are forum posts speaking to you? If so, that may not be a terribly good sign...?
-
What others have said; also, there is a lot to be said for playing at least some cruisers and (especially) DDs - that'll give you a very useful insight into what the other classes can/cannot do, and enable you to counter them better if you must play BBs... Oh yes, bide your time - you'll get shredded by more experienced players if you rush up the tiers too fast (don't forget: from T5, you lose the protected MM).

How Many Battles In A Premium Ship Before It Pays For Itself?
Verblonde replied to The_Finnster's topic in General Discussion
There isn't a definitive answer to this, because what everyone gets from their premiums is different. For me, it'll be a combination of silver earned, captains trained, and (most importantly) sheer fun. To use the universal language of beer: apparently, in my old patch, the average price for a pint is around five quid; I'm currently showing 27.70 for Kii (30% off) - for Kii to be worthwhile to me at that price it therefore needs to be as much fun as around five and a half pints of beer. In those terms, anything you play for maybe six hours or so has probably covered its cost in beer. If an average game takes (say) ten minutes, that's only 36 battles, if those battles are all fun... There is an added bonus to this calculation methodology too: no doctor moaning at you afterwards for drinking too much! -

Might be tempted by Boise, if she doesn't suck; 9dJ, not so much (it could be the WOWS 252U and I'd still avoid; Belgrano would have been a yes though)... -
For me, the addition of the Arsenal is sheer magnificence (i.e. on the whole, quite keen) - now you can *definitely* get the right magic upgrades that you need, without having to sacrifice goats/chicken/small children to RNGeezus. I think that's definitely worth the things costing a bit more; that said, they don't if you have a voucher available. Win-win. Can't comment on the steel elements though - I'm too rubbish to have ever earned any (so far)...
