    Kirov and Moskva

The basic nuts and bolts of all this has been communicated reasonably well, if one read the various news items; the "what if I..." edge cases may have called for some clarification, but that's about it... The people who will have a 'WTF' moment on Thursday morning are those who don't read news stories...

    Kirov and Moskva

I'm puzzled: why would the mechanic you're describing call for compensation? I'm a big fan of free stuff, but as far as I can see: Existing T5 and T10 silver ships turn into premium/semi-premium versions, with all the advantages that entails. You don't (apparently) even need to have them in your port; you just need to have researched them at some point, so avoiding annoying anyone who is the middle of an RB reset. The only people who are losing anything are the folk who bought a permaflage for Moskva i.e. they no longer have a permaflage for a T10 silver ship (but that discussion has been done to death, multiple times, elsewhere). Once everything is done and dusted, everyone who had the Russian cruiser line researched to T10 is - ignoring the permaflage business - effectively up two premiums, and down two silver ships i.e. ahead of the game. There absolutely should have been either compensation or (more reasonable) a replacement silver permaflage for one or other or both new silver T10s for anyone who had permaflage on their Moskva (not me), but apart from that, the exchange seems to be fair. After that, we just have to decide if we want the new T5 and T10 enough to research them, exactly the same as any other silver ships we don't have. I'll absolutely put the boot into WG when they deserve it (and gods knows, that's far too often), but - apart from the permaflage thing - this isn't one of those times. Strictly IMO, of course.

    Siegfried incoming...

I'm a while away from having to worry about this, having recently(ish) got Colbert. At the moment, Siegfried sounds a bit more fun to me, but it's somewhat moot as I'll suck in both of them...! That, of course, assumes Siegfried is the one I think it is..!

    Odin Poll

I've selected 'grind 18/pay 2' as that's the closest. What I'll actually be doing (like several others) is play semi-normally and *maybe* buy the thing if I get to 18 completed stages. The ship's largely fiction, so it's not like I'll miss out on anything historic if I don't make it, plus it'll probably fall out of an Xmas box anyway - it's not a "must have, right now" by any means.

Commander Training for a Cruiser with Torpedoes

It rather depends on the cruiser, and - more specifically - how important the torps are to making the ship perform. I'm not very good with cruisers, but I can't think of any that I have where a 'torp' build would be optimal? Although sometimes a bit flaky and/or open to argument, have you found the wiki, specifically the ship entries - each one generally has a section detailing all the captain skills and how often they're useful for that particular ship? This, as an example, is Leander: (You'll note that, contrary to my feelings, TAE is classed as 'frequently useful') Another worthwhile place to look: http://shipcomrade.com/captcalc

Is it possible to get the Missouri?

As far as I know, the SCs you get (occasionally) from the TYL option are the same ones that you get (even more occasionally) from the other options. Personally, I agree with @Gnirf - the best container pick under most circumstances is the More Resources one, as the 'standard' rewards from TYL (which are, by far, the commonest things you get) are worse, and coal is generally the most useful thing you can get from the other options.

Which DD line next? French or European?

It is, but it isn't that bad; as @Procrastes says, it's not a line that you *must* play and do so immediately, but it has some merits - the most significant being smoke/hydro. If you want to give the playstyle a lash, you can try either of the current KM premiums (although they are both better, IMO, than their silver equivalents), or maybe Loyang (or even Siliwangi, but I wouldn't recommend it). It's probably easier though to just play the silver line up to tier 5 or 6 and see if you like it (the T5 is a giggle now that it gets hydro, plus it holds up okay - by DD standards - against the CV plague)...

Which DD line next? French or European?

There is certainly some truth in this, I think - when I play the same ship over and over, I tend to find myself sucking marginally less than usual. My problem is that I have a spectacularly low boredom threshold, so I find playing multiple ships a lot more fun, even if it really doesn't help my WR...

Which DD line next? French or European?

Only if you're a cruiser, as far as I know - any ship that can't be hit, gets the 'dot' indicator, whilst those that can be hit see a normal torp indicator (I think). (As we all know, Asashio can't hit cruisers, whilst Pan-Asians can.)

Which DD line next? French or European?

As an aside re: Pan-Asian DWT - there is sometimes scope for a bit of disinformation i.e. if you find yourself not in immediate need of your DWT (or some of them) firing them at an enemy DD can sometimes fool them into thinking you're a blithering idiot, and so cause them not to take you as seriously as they should. Not a standard technique, as something that's actually worth shooting at may hove into view whilst you're on cooldown, but still occasionally of use....

Can someone explain a few gameplay machanics?

The way I rationalise this (FWIW) is that the things that get rendered on your main screen are not necessarily only things that - should they be present - chaps with binoculars, say, could see from the highest point of the ship. Rather, I think in terms of them being stuff that the collective entity that your ship represents has a reasonably solid fix on; this can include direct visual spotting, locations communicated from other ships/planes via radio/signals, and stuff detected with means such as radar/hydro. Clearly, in 'real life' a ship spotted on radar, say, doesn't magically appear out of the window, but 'the ship' collective will know where it is to within a couple of metres (or whatever the relevant precision of radar is). What we see in game is a visual representation of that which facilitates decent gameplay.

Which DD line next? French or European?

Not at all: I'm a pretty rubbish player, and for me they tend to come in vaguely there or thereabouts for WR across the bulk of my DDs. As to fun, that's a bit subjective; I enjoy them, but they aren't my favourite or least favourite DD line (although that itself changes with time, and meta shifts)...

Which DD line next? French or European?

A lot of the Russians are hard work, mainly due to relatively poor concealment, and very short-ranged torps a lot of the time. I do like the Groz (T10 on the 'all-rounder' line) though: very useful mixture of torps/dakka, fast, and she gets a heal; prior to the Ikeas, she was one of only a few DDs with respectable AA, and it still holds up (as much as any DD AA can). Germans are, IMO, rather splendid hybrids (and the upcoming pen boost for their HE won't do any harm either) - guns/torps/concealment are generally 'good enough' at least, and they come (now from T5) with the hydro/smoke combination which can be really rather glorious if used correctly (hydro has rather longer range than that on the RN line, but doesn't last as long (premiums and keepers are worth fitting a coal hydro mod to). A minor factor to consider is that the T6 and T7 premiums (especially the former - T-61) are both excellent too. Out of the two options, I might well go with the Germans as they're a consistent line (the Russians feel a bit disjointed to me) and there aren't any full-on stinkers to get on your wick. The low tier ones, with their forward-pointing tubes are hilarious too.

How do you make a complaint?

Send a report to WG, including the screen shot; hopefully, the person will get some sort of ban, although you'll never know for certain as WG don't publish specifics of sanctions imposed. As is mentioned elsewhere, if you're going to put screen shots like this on the forum, it's a good idea to block out the player name somehow, to avoid falling foul of the 'naming and shaming' rules. It just takes time. You've found the forum, so keep asking questions on here; try and division with players who can give you feedback on what you're doing right/wrong (voice comms are excellent for this); also, watch some YouTube tutorials - iChase is a good starting point but beware older films that pre-date significant changes to the game, such as IFHE, CVs etc.).

    Ranked, How I feel (2)

I feel your pain; presumably, the situation is even worse by this stage in the season, as the better players (who are more likely to understand the necessity of supporting their DDs) will have largely ranked out or have called it a day by now?

Which DD line next? French or European?

It's only the T10 - I believe - that got over nerfed, but a) it's still useful in the right hands and b) there have been at least some minor buffs since. I believe the main 'problem' for WG was that she was an utter monster in Clans (in particular) because of the radar option; I still like mine for Randoms, but usually play the smoke build (radar is mainly helpful with a coordinated team). T9 is basically a Feltcher, which is tier-for-tier still one of the better DDs in the game; T8 is (kind of - Gleaves class actually) basically a Benson which is a decent gunboat, albeit with disappointing torps, and the T7 is legendarily good. From T7-T10 the only one I don't really like is the T8 (there are several better choices in others lines).... I would suggest this doesn't really matter: trying to hit even a semi-competent DD with torps is a bit futile, plus T7+ (at least) generally have good enough guns that you can deal with DDs with those, not to mention the fact that your main DD killing weapon is often spotting (assuming your team actually bother to shoot at DDs that you spot). Besides all that, DWT are a major threat to everything that isn't a DD and are a good way to rack up some rather healthy damage numbers.

Should i use the 30% discount coupon?

Were it me, I would get the doubloons: For a start, if you change your mind, I believe you can still get Roma for doubloons in-game (I've had mine for years, so can't confirm though - can anyone else?). I'm not qualified to comment on how good Roma is as I only play mine in Coop, but some general 'rules' about premiums suggest she is of less use than many, from a practical standpoint: crucially, there is no equivalent silver line, so a) you need a source of elite xp - so, a 19 point captain elsewhere - to get the captain to a decent level, and b) the training capabilities of Roma are largely wasted, at least until WG get around to doing the Italian BB line. I should mention though that Roma does have a Kobayshi cammo available though (for doubloons - it's the insane 'beer can' design that you may have seen in game) which does turn her into one of the best silver earners in the game, provided you can perform in the ship...

Should i use the 30% discount coupon?

There isn't a single 'best' answer to this question IMO, but some things to think about: Premium account is arguably the best single thing one can spend money on in the game, as it works on every ship and in every game that you play. Doubloons are a close second if you don't have lots already, mainly because you can spend them on other things (don't use them for things like one-use cammo/flags, or buying silver, though as that's generally a waste). Premium ships are worthwhile, but you need to pick your spots - a premium ship that you don't play is of very little use, so don't buy anything that you aren't confident that you'll get a lot of use out of. Higher tier premiums are more expensive as - all things being equal - they allow you to generate better rewards; the higher tier ones can also (sometimes) get you access to certain game modes sooner than you would otherwise (the whole 'pay to progress faster' thing). The value of permaflage varies with tier, special bonuses, and personal circumstances. IMO the only permaflages that are actively good value are those that significantly increase your silver income (or provide better than average rewards elsewhere) either directly or by reducing your costs. This in general means T10, maybe T9, Kobayashi, and 'national' cammo. That, of course, assumes a ship that you want to keep and play a lot; for T10s, you should also be mindful of the recent business with Moskva, and the possible threat of nerfs (notably YY in the recent past) - only get T10 permaflage if you're confident that you'll get your money's worth reasonably quickly, so if WG do pull a fast one, you'll feel less aggrieved. You can also make a case for permaflage on your T6+ 'keepers', as each time you play them, you effectively 'save' a disposable cammo, plus the (generally) poorer rewards compared to many one-use cammos matter less once you've already got the next ship in the tree. 30% discount coupons are at the higher end of what WG hand out, so if you are going to spend on the game at some point, I would try and make use of it. As such vouchers only work on a single item (I think), probably the most sensible thing to use it on would be a large lump of doubloons, and use some of those doubloons for premium time, and then keep the rest and decide what to do with it later (and make really sure your automatic replenishment of things like economic flags that cost gold are emphatically switched off).

Which DD line next? French or European?

FWIW I prefer the Ikeas, mainly because of the heal, good (for a DD) AA at higher tiers, and longer reach on the torps. Obviously though, your torp alpha is very unimpressive, so you have to focus on DoT more than with other lines. Besides the damage saturation thing, the French have the merit of being *much* faster, have more dakka, and significantly higher alpha torps. The down-sides (IMO) include being less stealthy, and having unimpressive AA. Bear in mind that the Ikeas at least don't really come into their own until around T7-8, again IMO. Really though, it depends on which approach gels most effectively with your preferences...

    about Moskva !!

Can't speak for anyone else, but I have significant trust issues with WG; I wouldn't put it past them to somehow mess this up, and then claim they meant something different all along. I'm not even sure that I'll bother to sell my Moskva: I have quite a lot of silver already (by my standards, anyway) and demounting the equipment seems a bit of a waste of doubloons (even though the theoretical value in silver saved should more than outweigh the doubloon spend)...
