I'm seeing 1800... Seems rather a lot of effort for one non-premium container....

Thanks OP! Excellent form! (no idea what it did yet though)

I note that the whole deliberate not mentioning that chunks of the tokens missions require spending money thing is still alive and well...

[Poll] Success of the "Odin" dockyard event...
Verblonde replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I got my Odin earlier today as well; same as @Ocsimano18 I've only given her a few goes in Coop, the first of which was meaningless due to a rather special DD who sat in a smoke cloud rather than spotting (and blocking my LoS too, of course) until the entire flank arrived at once and vapourised both of us...! Anyway, for my standard of player (i.e. not good), she feels fun, but quite hard to do well with - mainly due to the low hp. I suspect LWM may have got her review pretty close with this one (https://forum.worldofwarships.com/topic/219758-premium-ship-review-148-odin/). She does feel rather like a T8 Scharn, only (tier-for-tier) a bit less robust, and with greater reach on the secondaries. Tirpitz is - IMO - a lot more idiot-resistant, but I do like having 1.5 times the barrels pointing forward with Odin (even if they're smaller guns); the torp angles aren't as good as on Tirpitz, but if you've played things like Graf Spee, and some of the IJN cruisers, they're fine. -
Most of what I do about planes (builds, behaviours etc.) are geared towards the standard of CV players one usually meets i.e. not very good ones! That said, may I enquire: do good players identify which side you've reinforced and tweak their DB paths to avoid that side? Just curious.
-
I think they shouldn't, as - as far as I know - they never did in reality (chasing subs is usually a job for the smaller ships). (Bonus points for HMS Dreadnought though, for obvious reasons.) BTW has the original question been spectacularly edited at some point?
-
From my perspective: When you reinforce the AA to one side, there is a corresponding reduction on the other side. If attacking planes spend most time on the weakened side, you'll do them less damage than if you'd done nothing. This is why I only really make heavy use of reinforcement on DDs - with them, it's easier to keep the planes on the reinforced side.

Sadly, two games won't provide the necessary information; beware tiny data-sets. For example, at time of writing, my recent stats say I'm a Super Unicum (or Unicum, if looking at the last seven days) - please believe me when I say I am nowhere close to being this good; the only reason my stats are this way at the moment is fluke (the same would be true if I were showing a 25% WR for the same period) - 2 or 27 random battles, respectively. Realistically, you're going to do whatever you want (and the IS-6 in my WOT garage would make me a hypocrite if I condemned you for it), just be aware of what will likely happen if you take a T8 into randoms now, and don't be disappointed if/when it does. At that point, switch to using whatever T8 premium you buy in Coop, and do all the stuff people have suggested elsewhere to get you to a state where you won't get torn a new one when you later return to randoms.
-
BTW if there is anyone new passing by who isn't aware of how sector reinforcement works, the wiki gives an explanation: https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Anti-Aircraft_Fire#Sector_Reinforcement Edit: also for newbies, this bit from the wiki (same general page as the above link) is also worth looking at:

When is a little thing like historical accuracy going to stand in WG's way?! Slightly in their defence, I believe that land-based Stukas got used for anti-ship strikes quite a lot during WW2.
-
Last time I looked, your stats were hidden; they now appear to be showing again...
-
Can't see your stats (and can't remember what they were like, if I remember you correctly), so can't provide informed advice. First, what everyone else has already said. Second, the textbook answers - assuming you mean monstrous secondaries - are things like MA (and maybe GA), and Tirpitz. Don't have Odin yet, but she might be worth a look if you've completed the current dockyard missions. Do bear in mind that, in the current meta, trying to brawl in randoms is - at best - sub-optimal, and for most players is simply going to get you killed. It is great fun in Coop though, which is pretty much entirely where my brawlers live.

I've been trying to work out if Weser is dreadful or not: First go, I got the most hopeless team known to man, who managed to get wiped out before the second wave (that approaches diagonally from upper left) was entirely sunk. Next two goes, my teams both (mostly) knew exactly what they were doing, so we won fairly quickly, making it harder to assess what the Weser could do if stuff didn't keep getting sunk. After that, things were more typical. My impression, so far, is that I seem to do comparable damage to most other CVs, but at the lower end of my usual range (similar captains etc.); on the up-side, farming cruiser citadels with the rocket planes never seems to get old... I'm quietly hoping the upcoming premium is fun for Ops, although I'll probably buy her more or less whatever - Stukas!
-
This confirms something I'd thought - thank you. My feeling was that the only ships worth using reinforcement on (on a regular basis anyway) are DDs, as they're nimble enough - in certain circumstances - to keep the reinforced sector pointing at the threat...
-
FWIW the logic I'm currently applying is roughly as follows: Does it do anything besides enhance AA? If it doesn't, generally don't bother. So, I only take things like BFT and AFT if there is a surface-to-surface benefit (usually DD dakka and secondaries, respectively). I think I may still have one or two mid-tier US DDs mounting AA Guns Mod 1 (-20% sector reinforcement preparation time), but that's a) because I forgot to remove them when AA builds became worthless and b) as an experiment in Sims' case - I have it on one, and not on the other. It's a pity really - I miss there being a point to AA builds; it added greater variety.

I'm a DD main, but almost never play DDs in Ops - they're either far too fragile, or can't do enough damage fast enough, or both (IMO). For the T6 Ops (except Newport, which I avoid), I usually take CVs these days, especially Ark Royal (besides being effective, the rewards are usually better with a premium); if not a CV, then I tend to take BBs or cruisers with a heal (Graf Spee being a particular favourite), with a tendency towards premiums for the rewards. So, some favourite T6 Ops ships: Ark Royal. Graf Spee. Warspite. Dunk. I play a wider selection, of course, but those are favourites (the middle two have 'National' permaflages too, which boosts earnings significantly). For Narai, the logic is usually similar, only without the CVs, and with an occasional non-healing cruiser added, plus anything that I happen to be grinding (that isn't a DD). So, favourites: Scharn is my absolute favourite. Ashitaka (with Kobayashi to boost the earnings) is very worthwhile. Boise (and NdJ) is excellent. I rather like the various premium Myoko clones too. I also have a couple of silver T7 cruisers I'm working on, so they sometimes get a run-out too...

No new mission for me as well, alas. Many thanks OP for posting though...

[Poll] Success of the "Odin" dockyard event...

I'm another yes - for the most part, there seems to be very little to carp about with the Odin thing (somewhat in contrast to the more recent CV event). +1 for WG for a change. -
Petition for WG to add a H-45 mega BB into the game.
Verblonde replied to EpicBryano's topic in General Discussion
I say 'the more, the merrier!' when it comes to BBs - the game can always use more of them. This has absolutely nothing to do with my being a DD main - no siree!- 53 replies

USS Anchorage in ST:https://thedailybounce.net/world-of-warships/supertest-u-s-premium-tier-viii-cruiser-anchorage/ TL;DR: T8 US cruiser, with smoke and torps, but no radar (WiP of course).

It's difficult for me to assess, as - more or less by definition - I'm usually in a DD game, as I'm playing one. That said, there does *seem* to have been a dip in four DDs per side games lately; entirely unsurprisingly, that coincides with the introduction of the new Russians and the German CVs (even though the latter are a less unwelcome sight than other nations' CVs). There's no reason to doubt @ColonelPete's figures though. I imagine my 'feeling' in this case is entirely down to the eccentricities of a small data set.
-
Incidentally, it looks like WG may have learned *one* thing from the PR debacle: so far, I don't believe any of WG's staff have felt the urge to make the matter even worse with some spectacularly ill-judged intervention...?
-
I rather feel that WG dropped a b*llock here, a bit like with the whole PR business. They did state early on that you could only get 300 tokens entirely free, but the bulk of the marketing has been all about 'yay - free T10 cammo'. Turns out that (unless the odds on the free containers are a *lot* better than usual) it's functionally impossible to get even one T10 cammo free. This isn't intended to be an entitled 'waaaah - I want free stuff!' rant, but rather an observation that WG have - once again - failed to cross-reference over-enthusiastic marketing and managing expectations. As I said in another thread on this approximate subject, a good solution would have been to have - say - something like a T8 permaflage for the wholly f2p folk for the 300 tokens (or something else fun), and everything else as it is now. WG make their money from the whales, and they avoid annoying everyone who didn't read the fine print before having their expectations raised in the f2p community. (Full disclosure: I bought 15 for-money gamble boxes and got the T4&6 missions; as such, I've got more from the existing missions i.e. permaflage for the T4&6 CVs, so I'm perhaps a bit less grumpy than I might be otherwise.)
