Dockyard 3.0: Animation for USS Anchorage
Verblonde replied to Allied_Winter's topic in General Discussion
As always, I'll play semi-normally, and see where I get to; if I reach a point where I can get the thing for 3.5K doubloons, I probably will - if only because I really like the 'Haida' cammo option (wonder if there'll be a version without the bunting?)... -

I actually like playing CVs in Ops (unlike PvP); unless I'm a particularly unusual weirdo, there may be others like me clogging up the queue. Not this week though - of course. -
You'll go blind...!

I was quietly hoping Narai might return this week (instead, it's bleedin' Newport), so I can maybe get past the T7 at last. I struggle to summon the enthusiasm to play it the rest of the time...

This reminds me: has anyone seen anything on the subject of things that are mid-regrind when the snowflake event is on? I vaguely recall that if you had something missing from your port due to a regrind, in previous events, you still got the reward for that ship - do we know if that'll be the case this time? Given that we get a RB bonus reset in a couple of days, it would be useful to know before pressing the reset button, or not...

Very much appreciated, sir! Thank you! -

Apart from lobbing a couple of torps into your smoke, I stayed as far away as possible! Beware the Curse, I tell ye! -

Just saw @Europizza out for a constitutional in Minotaur; slightly surprisingly, my usual Curse of the Forumites didn't strike this time and I somehow didn't explode in the first thirty seconds or so... -
This is a valid point, although I'm not too narked myself (pi$$-taking post earlier notwithstanding). As it stands, there seem to be two general rewards: Expensive ship (vanishingly unlikely). Spectacularly inexpensive flags or similar (*very* likely). Given WG's usual "YAY, EVERYONE - YOU COULD WIN A SHIP! HURRAH! Although you'll actually get flags." approach to the marketing of this event, it's not surprising that a certain amount of sarcasm may have broken out. If it had been me designing this, I might have gone with the present mechanic, but have inserted some T5-6 silver ships and/or T2-3 premiums as a sort of 'mid case' prize (with suitable probabilities). WG still don't have to give out - to them - excessive high end ship numbers, but there is a better motive to get people to play (that doesn't really cost them anything - I imagine the real money income from the minor ships will not even get to you to the door of Madam Olga's), and less mickey-taking from the players...

help required from you young seadogs

I'm afraid I don't know - perhaps the OP on Reddit might be able to help? -
I too am basking in the munificence of the end reward for the latest directive. (Three flags too - I may even go back and maximise my engagement by counting all of them again). I'm guessing that WG aren't too worried about server numbers this summer, as so many folk are hiding from the pox at home (unlike a more usual year, when we'd all be doing things they disapprove of, like getting out in the fresh air etc.)...

As @HaachamaShipping pointed out, Jervis is very good at T7 - stick a coal hydro mod on her and you're not too far away from a Haida with more - albeit shorter-ranged - torps (and no Mighty Secondaries too, of course), and RN smoke. Fiji is generally viewed as one of the best ships in the game tier-for-tier, but I'm not really qualified to comment on that, as I'm very bad in cruisers.

I like the cut of your jib, sir!

He ought to be pretty good; mine's only on 13 points at the moment - I'm slowly working on him with a view to plonking him on the T10 when I finally get round to it (I prefer the Ikeas for my smoke-free DD requirements)....

So, basically, you're struggling with how the game has changed over the last several years; none of this stuff is too hard to deal with, if one bothers to spend a little while learning/practicing. The only *real* problem in the game at the moment you haven't even mentioned i.e. CV reework. -

<pedant> Boise and NdJ are *identical* to play, because they are exactly the same ship in all respects. The only difference is that the NdJ belongs to the Pan-American nation and so has no silver ship captains to draw on.</pedant> They are indubitably fun though!

Cobblers! Smoke spammers (I'm assuming this is the problem) are not that hard to deal with as a team, but - as a BB main - you need to help your allies whose job this is by shooting at things like radar cruisers, DDs etc. before you attend to the typical T10 BB players' preoccupation of trading extreme range fire with the opposition BBs. -
They're rather useful for being mean to average CV players in things like Halland, Kidd etc....

It is indeed; however, you do need to do a few things to get the most from it. I believe I may have identified your problems (if you aren't a reroll, which I'm assuming you are, given your WR): Suggested action points: Play some other ships besides IJN BBs, and learn what they all can/can't do, and what they're trying to do to you. Do it at tiers that aren't T10. Normally, I would write a lot more with a view to helping a player who struggles with basic game mechanics, but I'm reasonably confident you're just on a fishing expedition...- 26 replies

Can I also request smoke too, please? I have a cunning plan that will turn every ship into the game into - essentially - a destroyer; only the scale and levels of manliness will vary. C'mon - you know it makes sense!

17 SCs due, as of right now - I'm going to have *so* many ramming flags...!

That's the thing - I haven't spent any coal on the 'uniques' yet, but I've been playing for a few years now, so was able to get all of them the 'easy' way (if you consider things like the multi-stage campaigns easy, although you can complete them by just playing, albeit in the right ships). A new player will have to get the bulk of the uniques via grinding a lot of coal. So far, the most fun for me aren't actually on the list because they aren't historical: Ovenchicken, especially, and the Rong twins; Ovenchicken is my Gearing (and lots of US premiums) captain, and Da Rong mostly lives in Loyang, although he technically belongs to the T9 (Chung Mu). Other than them, I recently got Cunningham to a respectable level and plonked him on Daring (but especially Cossack), and he's looking distinctly promising; I'm looking forward to getting the Polish chap very much - I suspect he might be great fun with Halland...
