Whether you did or not doesn't really matter (I'm assuming it wasn't deliberate FWIW); the whole thing with the team damage system is to try and get people to behave themselves as much of the time as possible i.e. to modify their behaviour. Since it's made clear (here for example) how the whole thing works, it is assumed that someone who has recently had a sanction of some sort applied will not want another, and will so behave themselves better (in the case of accidents, that means being *extra* careful before opening fire). It's actually quite a wise system to have in place; by always putting the onus on the firer to make sure they don't hit a friendly, WG make things easier to understand, and - more importantly for them - make it much easier to automate the enforcement system.

Well, whilst Deadeye is clearly a bad idea for the health of the game, may I formally salute the two BBs on the red team who (I assume) had it in one of my Ranked games earlier - between them, they essentially won the game for us by behaving in exactly the way you might expect. I imagine their own team were furious...!

I'm assuming that the free respec won't be extended, and that all subsequent tweaks will happen in a spaced out way, so giving WG a sort-of fig-leaf to hide behind to justify no more free respecs to fix whatever they break with balancing...

Italian T4 BB Dante Alighieri EA for Prime Users only!
Verblonde replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
BTW a small reminder: don't forget to fit the upgraded range thing; as per usual, the early release stuff comes full researched but only with stock modules fitted. (Says he who - of course - forgot, but luckily it was only Coop.) -

Probably because it's Italian and so does not exhibit sufficient revolutionary zeal... -

Apparently they did: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_battleship_Dante_Alighieri -
I do believe you. Presumably, it's the probation thing that bit you. This is the down-side of the system: we know there is a probation period (assuming WG are being truthful), but we don't know how long it is, to avoid people being able to work round it deliberately.

Italian T4 BB Dante Alighieri EA for Prime Users only!
Verblonde replied to koliber_1984's topic in General Discussion
It's a few quid a month, effectively - if you have Amazon Prime, you get Twitch Prime as part of the same package. -
Of course I didn't; WG's faults are many and various, but with the team damage system they've actually done a pretty good job. Unless you get a manual ban (from someone reporting you for something particularly egregious), the various teamkill penalties are entirely predictable, reasonable, and straightforward to avoid. The reason I didn't watch the replay is that I simply didn't need to: there is no circumstance in the game where you can torp someone that isn't technically your fault (ditto shoot them as well, but it's most commonly torps that are the issue). Sure, it's annoying when someone does something idiotic that takes them into the path of your fish, but - and this is important - *it's still your fault*. When you fire your torps, you are responsible for assessing the risks of firing; if they strike your target, you get rewarded, and if they hit a friendly you get a (trivial, unless you do it a lot) penalty. Anyone who makes extensive use of torps has to make a risk-reward calculation every time they use their weapons, and sometimes you miscalculate. But - and it bears repeating - you only get banned for repeated and egregious misbehaviour (if it were otherwise, I would have been banned years ago, most likely). You have a couple of options here: carry on being a trifle histrionic, or learn how to use torps more effectively - the latter isn't that hard, it just requires slightly more forethought and slightly less reflexive firing when able regardless.
-
If this happens often enough to be a problem, you're doing it wrong (sorry to be blunt). We all get pink now and again; to get a ban requires much more consistent misbehaviour. I would recommend - to start with - simply not firing torps if it is physically possible for a friendly to connect with them (including any 'spares' after some of your spread hit their target); mini-map is your friend here, as well as practice (be mindful of torp speeds too - a Halland's fish will arrive in about half the time of torps from something like Black, and so on). When you've got an extended run with no pink under your belt, you can start adding in the dicier shots again (provided you accept the associated risks).

Italian T4 BB Dante Alighieri EA for Prime Users only!

I don't think that's the case, although I haven't tested it yet. WG caught a lot of flak (I think) for the captured Tiger II premium that Prime members got in WOT, or rather they did when it stopped working if your Prime membership lapsed. I think they may have learned from the experience; Prime loot these days seems to be a lower value than a T7 premium, but you - I believe - keep it regardless of your Prime status. (This is WG though, so I could easily be wrong, of course.) -
The vast majority of my games (75%ish the last I checked) are in DDs, and I'm not a very good player (48% overall WR ditto); despite that, I have never been banned completely, and not even banished to Coop only (turned orange). To even be banished to Coop takes a spectacular level of team damage, and to be doing so consistently. There is no need to drop DDs; just apply a bit of caution and forethought before firing torps...

Full secondary build can't even hit an island anymore
Verblonde replied to Mrs_Ragdoll's topic in General Discussion
Mortal combat with islands is traditional though; I find that the best way to show them who's boss is a full-on manly ram...! -
For Ops, I would suggest the crawling smoke is probably of more use than the more traditional type (and it runs for a good long time with the relevant coal mod fitted); that isn't completely irrelevant. I happily acknowledge that that's a pretty niche thing compared to the (free) Leander though. It's a pity there isn't a more interesting permaflage for Mysore; perhaps WG can come up with something featuring a suitably 'Indian' aesthetic in future?

No apology needed, of course - it's usually me that's all kinds of incorrect, hence my confusion! -
Mysore has no "Indian" captain option
Verblonde replied to UnterSeeBot's topic in General Discussion
I have the game open, and just looked at Mysore (resplendent in the 'gastric distress' cammo - Frosty Fir, or whatever it's called): That thing on the left is labelled DCP and the one on the right is Repair Party (at least in the 'equipment' tab). I'm confused...? -

Isn't DCP the name for the standard 'fix fires, floods, and broke stuff' consumable (with unlimited charges, unless you're a Famous & Historical Russian BB)? -

I'm probably being thick (or - more charitably - just not a BB fiend): this is the 4 point BB skill isn't it? Apart from being breathtakingly poor value, what's wrong with it that I'm not seeing? -
I just thought "f*ckit!" and got her too (I can always put other cammo on her) - after first run through in Raptor, I'm rather taken with her - as observed earlier, it's not like you use many torps in Ops anyway... A total lack of impulse control: thy name is Verblonde!
-
Mysore is sounding distinctly non-essential to me, but one thing could save her: are there any pretty permaflage alternatives? I might be tempted if she had a pretty dress available; other than that, it comes down to @NobleSauvage's point about Ops...

It's not like WG *won't* do this sort of thing: I have at least one splendid Sikh chap commanding my British AFVs in WOT... I get the impression that quality-control isn't at the top of WG's mind at the moment though (distracted by captains, I imagine): last time I checked, the new T8 PA premium DD (Fen Yang) couldn't be fitted with the DefAA coal mod, if one were so inclined. While I'm thinking about it: is this deliberate @MrConway? (Thanks!) -
I'll come back to this when I've experimented a bit (a lot?) more; for a mediocre player, picking the 'best' skills can be troublesome as it can be difficult to make out how good things are (and how often) against the 'background radiation' of my own intermittent incompetence. FWIW I've largely concluded that the first ten points for DDs want to be essentially the same as they were before (yay, variety) although some torp boats might go for Liquidator over PM, I suppose. I'm hoping that the better players on here will be able to provide some spiritual guidance re: the other points...

Pommern, probably.

Made redundant on the day weegee made the game redundant
Verblonde replied to ThePopesHolyFinger's topic in General Discussion
My feeling - FWIW - is that the only complete and utter Richard move in this whole business is the 1.2 million to get from 19 points to 21. Basically, if you aren't an old lag, it makes ecxp redundant. Apart from that, it's really just a 'swings and roundabouts' change overall: I suspect - although it's early days - that the importance of captains slightly reduces overall (due to a mixture of nerfs and fewer people being able to run maxed out captains), but we do gain the potentially valuable possibility of running lots more premiums ships with the same captain, thanks to having a separate build for each class. Of course, there are also lots more opportunities (and intended motivation built in) to spend money, but that *seems* to be resistible if you can live without being 110% competitive. My suggestion would be to have a poke around and see what you think yourself. Oh, and good luck with finding a new gig! -
Will the MM limit of 5 BBs in a game be increased?
Verblonde replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, but that's no fun!
