Smaland is a 'special' ship (rather than a 'full premium'), so I think she's liable to nerfs anyway...

That's technically true (actually since forever, I think), *but* until Flandre WOWS' official policy was not to nerf full premiums, regardless of what it said in the T&Cs. This change in policy is very recent, and does potentially impact the 'useful' life-span of a premium; as I've said ad nauseum elsewhere, this doesn't mean you should never buy a nerfable premium, but rather that it's perhaps wise to think about timelines when making a purchase (as well as all the usual considerations) i.e. will I get value from the ship in less time than it takes for WG to mess with it? Previously, this timeline was the lifespan of the game, but now it's rather shorter. BTW just to be clear, we're only really worried about nerfs; I can't imagine too many people will reach for the torches and pitchforks over a buff... -

Well, this is the thing that tipped me over to 'nope'... I'm an inveterate whale, and always have a fondness for real ships, so this ought to be an easy win for WG. Sadly though, I've read some of the feedback/reviews on Tiger and she isn't the sort of ship I'll get lots of consistent use from; if she were nerf-proof, the timeline would be irrelevant, but as it is I have to get value from her before WG *may* mess with her and that isn't likely - she's poor in Coop (lousy alpha), and there aren't any T8 Ops to use her in; that leaves Randoms, and for a player of my skill level she's going to get a tonking. So, I wouldn't play her much in the short-term, making the risk of nerfs too high (and that's before we even start on the risk from submarines). -
I'm doing the same, only in the other direction... Of course, it helps that second right (Glühschwanz?) has a rather majestic 'tache, and - as we all know - a majestic 'tache adds a solid point to your WR...

For everyone who wasn't wondering, this is a key part of how I can stay in Canadialand - most supermarkets stock Yorkshire Tea (both regular and Gold varieties; I hope it goes without saying that I go with the latter)... Good choice though; my late grandfather would approve (although he referred to it as 'old mailbags')!

I think you probably don't - I'm pretty sure I've got a previous flag and only hit R1 once during the relevant season...

Short version: very much so; tier-for-tier, she's one of the better DDs in the game. Of course, she does get T7 MM, but that matters less than with quite a few other options because she's sneaky enough not to be completely knackered without the concealment module. If you do get her, you'll want to fit coal upgrades for hydro and smoke. Well, they're both Tribals, so kinda; that said, they play very differently so it's - IMO - worthwhile having both. There's a bit more discussion on Haida (in comparison to a couple of other options) here that might be of interest too:

Battle of the Beasts: "another themed Commander"
Verblonde replied to Stockensprotz's topic in General Discussion
I think whichever one I joined did, although I haven't double-checked my inventory and couldn't tell you which team I was in (I think it was the one displaying on the far right of the screen?) - I wasn't paying much attention to the whole business. I'm pretty sure I got a six pointer from a Twitch mission too, but - again - haven't double-checked...- 20 replies

This here is the crux of whether or not you'll get on with Orkan. I've found her to be okay in Randoms, and a bit of a monster in small team/map modes (so, basically Ranked so far for me): in the context of small teams, being able to take out the opposing DDs quickly tends to win games and Orkan's radar (and solid dakka) is excellent for that. The problem arises when you run out of DDs to kill - you lack the raw firepower to tear chunks off fatties (that said, a captain with the 1 point 'boost flooding' skill - whatever it's called - makes her torps a bit of a bugger to deal with; they're easy to hit fatties with, and the bulk of players still trigger DCP with the first flood, leaving them open to subsequent fires and floods)...

Haida & Orkan Secondary guns and captain skill rework

Haida & Orkan Secondary guns and captain skill rework

Before the captain rework, but: Orkan to try for next... -
Siliwangi is - IMO - pretty unremarkable; the only thing it does better than Loyang is 'torp truck' duties. Siliwangi has marginally worse concealment (5.9 km, versus 5.8 km for Loyang). Loyang has superior AA (by DD standards); hydro is identical. Siliwangi's torps go further (10 km, versus 6.7 or 9.2 for Loyang; I run the former), but they're DW. Loyang is faster and more nimble, but has fewer hp. Loyang gets longer lasting smoke. If you want to tool around at range lobbing torps at fatties, get Siliwangi; if you want to be more aggressive and/or hunt DDs, get Loyang.

What happens if you pull Premium Time from a crate when you already have Wargaming Premium?
Verblonde replied to Rawthorm's topic in General Discussion
As I understand it, the two flavours of premium run at the same time; the bonus applied is for whatever is the better of the two. So, for example, if you have two weeks of WG premium (applies to all titles), and one week of WOWS premium (ships only), you'll get the superior ships bonuses for a week (with the WG premium running uselessly - as far as ships is concerned - in the background), followed by a week of the lesser WG bonuses after the ships one runs out. After that, you'll be back to standard, unless you top one or other premium up. What the different sorts of premium don't do is run one after the other. -
[Poll] If you acquired "Super Container" as 24th "Daily Reward" - what did you get?

50 x Leviathan - better than a sharp kick to the knackers... That's actually useful. -
IMO: Haida first; she's very good, fun to play, and about to be removed from sale. She isn't easy mode, and you do need your allies to shoot what you spot (with only one torp launcher, you have to be very skilled with single launch torps to get large damage numbers from fatties fast enough), but she's a fantastic anti-DD boat. Bonus points for being real. Fit coal hydro and smoke mods. Loyang second; although most people know about the hydro/smoke trick (fit a coal hydro mod too), it's still pretty powerful. Good for hunting DDs. I personally run the YOLO torp option, as they're fast enough to occasionally actually hit things with. Orkan third, although not by much. I like Orkan a lot, although whether you'll like her or not will depend entirely on whether you can make use of the radar - she can be a monstrous DD hunter, although (compared to Lightning) you're giving up a lot of torp firepower and smoke (although you do get a healing potion too, it's not a 'zombie' one). You want a radar coal mod. She's sometimes thought of as (kind of) a T8 Smaland; in some respects that's not too far from the truth, but be aware that - even tier-for-tier - her AA is emphatically not Smaland levels, so caution is required when dealing with planes. It's worth emphasising that Haida really wants at least a ten point captain (the others too, come to that, but they both have matching silver lines), so if you don't have one already (for Perth, say, or the Vampires) you'll have to blow some doubloons or resources. As with many DDs, higher point captains are very helpful in all these ships' cases...

It's a pretty old collection, so - presumably - WG reckon there are enough players around who didn't get it the first time. It's not really worth getting excitable about; I completed the collection ages ago too - if I complete any of the missions by accident then, yay, it's a small boost to my silver reserves and some extra oil for the clan (as others have mentioned).

Ah. So we are dealing with a bit of a Richard Edward? I won't bother trying to help further then; thanks for the heads-up, chaps! -

This tells me that we may have a language problem here (the plural of 'sheep' is 'sheep'). You are not reporting a bug; you are reporting that you haven't understood aspects of the game's mechanics. I suggest you find a friend who is fully fluent in English and get them to translate what people have been telling you. -

BTW @citaDELer if you are struggling to identify which captain belongs to which ship when applying a captain to a newly bought silver ship, this may help: If my Yugumo doesn't have a captain and I hover over a captain's portrait, it pops up lots of relevant information. In this case: This captain is trained for Hashidate (the white text half-way down the panel). This captain is currently sitting in Harekaze (yellow text just below the training information). I will have to retrain him to put him in Yugumo (in this case), as per the orange text slightly below the portrait at the top. -

I fear it is you who has an understanding deficit... For example: I'm most of the way through the Shima line regrind; a week or two ago I reset the line using the same methodology as everyone. I had a distinct captain for every ship from T4 to T10; each of those captains was removed to reserve and remained trained for the silver ship they came from and with their skills entirely untouched. If I look in my reserve (as of a minute or two ago) I see this: This captain is trained for Shima, and has a bunch of skills set. When I get Shima again, he will drop straight in, and all those skills will work exactly as they did before and at no additional cost. How do I know this for certain? Because I've done it several times before (and I did the same thing yesterday for Yugumo - see below). The only thing that would cost me resources would be resetting the captain skills for any of these captains, which I haven't done. -

You don't get 'some' modules and credits; you get the *exact* modules you had installed on the relevant ships before you sold them, and the credits from selling said ships (which is effectively what you're doing when you reset a line). As I think we've said before, if you're going to make use of the Research Bureau, you want to do the following as far as captains go: Reset and regrind the same line, rather than multiple ones, and keep a good enough captain for each ship that you'll play (T5 to T10 at least). Furthermore, don't move captains up the tiers as you go, as you have to pay resources to retrain them each time (exactly as for any other silver ship grind); this is why you want to keep a captain for each ship. -
My irony meter just exploded...

To be fair, this is pretty typical 'any company' behaviour: they know they can't win this argument (for the fairly basic reason that they're wrong!), so arguing with a grumpy customer base won't achieve much. So, they've ensured that anyone who visits this thread will see their counter-argument, and now the hope is that we'll get bored and let the thread vanish into obscurity...

Tier-for-tier, T-61 is probably better IMO; Z-39 is very good though, and well worth having as well (less urgently however - she's not about to be removed, as far as I know). Z-39 is unusual in that she gets access to the concealment mod, which reduces her detection distance to 6.1 km (CE captain, of course) and you can do quite a lot with that (although at T7, I prefer Haida, and she's about to be removed as well). As an aside, Z-39 really does throw how dreadful Z-31 is into rather sharp relief...
-
Unlike all the newly-released premiums (Flandre onwards), T-61 didn't have the 'may be nerfed' label, so it's unlikely she'll get nerfed. My guess is that WG are hoping that - eventually - enough players will forget that these earlier premiums are supposedly not for nerfing, and go and do it anyway; that'll probably take quite a long time though, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Under normal circumstances, I would highly recommend T-61 (tier-for-tier, she's a strong candidate for best DD in the game IMO); the only reason for caution now is the imminent addition of submarines - they could easily change the game out of all recognition and/or ruin it. That said, T6 premiums are relatively inexpensive, so you could easily get decent use out of T-61 before things go to hell...?
