Pr event appears to be a success for WG
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
More than many would imagine for a game. Going over four digits is not uncommon for some. I have accumulated (spent) similar figures up until recently. They make enough so that they previously registered Wargaming.net at Companies house. Which states that their address is in British Virgin Islands (BVI), quite well known for tax avoidance. I laughed upon finding that information. -
Pr event appears to be a success for WG
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
I believe the "reputational damage" have already been incurred. This was even prior to Puerto Rico event. Many players that I know of, that are what the community would consider as "whales" no longer spends money into Wargaming any longer; and if they do, it is very small in comparison. Myself included. So their reputation or shall I say the "trust" in the company have been completely faded away, over their WG actions and over time. No company will "uncharacteristically open" any of their affairs. Unless it was left with no choice but to do so. For your information, their previous registered address in Companies House records indicate that they are based in BVI (British Virgin Islands); also known to financial world as "Tax Avoidance" heaven. I have also been informed that they do hold an office in Cyprus (yet, another "tax avoidance" country) as well. They are not financially suffering at all, at least not yet. -
Cap buoys invisible since latest patch
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
Foliage has nothing do with buoys. If anything, and as we are throwing ideas around. It should be Draw Distance, Object LOD. But, they (buoys) shouldn't be unseen when close enough to render them. Side note: My ingame performance have dropped in this 9.0.0 patch. Used to be on average FPS of 55~65, now I get 30~40s. Bearing in mind that I have not changed any graphical settings after the patch install. -
So the RN Heavy Cruisers get Smoke. Gimmick found. Next...

Disconnects to my NA server games, and now EU games. No my ISP is still the same blah blah. Side note, not sure if it's just me. However, the FPS drops have been noticed (it hit mid 30's at some point from 60+ average) this patch.

How to spend 1,000,000 fxp; Need some advice.
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
If I was in OP's shoes. I would wait. Keep getting more FXP. There are many ships that will be coming out in short time. By then you would have saved more FXP to get what your second choice was, maybe. -
Yes, someone wise on the NA forum wrote something like this which made perfect sense to me at the time. Play other lower tiers during the week, so that you can take out your big ships during the weekends. Playing tier 9,10's will always give you more losses per game than lower tiers that those.
-
Well, when such person is dishing out all forms of vitriol. From character assassinations (ad hominem), to talking about a ship that they have not personally tested. That isn't an attack, more of an suggestion of keep your trap shut. Until you have on hand knowledge of the ship in question, instead of going off numbers of a wiki page. If you're talking about in game credit system, you can directly use the wiki information given by the WG. But when you talk about ships, it's one thing to read that stats, and totally another thing to actually play them. In case you haven't noticed, WG ship turning radius is actually incorrectly given from real in game turning radius as a prime example. You're basically, a spectator in a boxing match. Giving advice, about how the boxer should box or why isn't the boxer is doing A instead of B. Without having absolutely no experience in the ring.

Hmm...I guess I could fire up a training map and systematically launch torps into island lol

Ships suited for meta 2020/01
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I agree with this as well. Tier 7 was the sweet spot for me. Not too much gimmick to deal with, with retaining the fundamentals of gameplay. -

Removed? You mean nerfed. Enjoy any ships while her new ship smell is still there...cause once it gone. We all know what happens. -
Pr event appears to be a success for WG
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
With respect, I would have to agree to disagree there. The numbers is what matters. Just like what your account may have informed you about your tax returns or rebates. It's not how or why, it's the numbers. The only underlying facts that I can with confidence say is that. There are players out there that can & will pay for anything no matter the cost. Then there are players who are more sensible, perhaps of certain age that commits to purchase by research instead of on a whim/impulse like the former group. I know, these two groups since I was apart of both. Then there are groups who are very pragmatic. I used to be this too, until... WG pulled some tricks they thought we were too dumb to realise. Well, the joke is on them now. Many have got tired of many, many reasons, and of their own; and have closed their wallets. As have I. I have quite literally moved into the F2P house. They have lost consumer confidence ( This is not just a game, it's a business transaction. Most players in EU don't get that vs NA players who do from the start ). Once the consumer confidence in a company drops, it is very hard to regain that 'trust'. However, as I've said figures show otherwise. They are doing fine with covering their own 'service cost' & 'operational costs' (get it?) financially. I mean c'mon why do you think companies have registered office addresses in Cyprus? -
Lol. You ARE incorrect. I do have HIV and I don't care that you aren't able to figure it out. You know what? Discussing with you is like trying to play chess with the proverbial pigeon. I prefer to discuss with people that disagree with me so I can learn and improve, however, as you haven't even attempted to discuss the issues or added anything to the conversation, you can safely be ignored. Can we please not derail this thread by attacking each other. Let's direct the energy in using it more productively. It would also help to be cogent with ones post (it cuts off a lot of unnecessary follow up posts), also less Ad hominem.

You know, sadly this is a trend I've noticed over past the two years at least. Typical process is as follows (allow for some forgotten steps, as I'm not an employee): Ship gets announced Ship gets marketed via various means Ship gets released for Super testers Ship gets released for general public Ship starts to collect "data" Ship gets loved or hated by her intended designs/gimmicks Player base bombards the social media, websites, forums about their love or hate of that ship 6 months down the line (give or take 'whenever I feel like it' month or two), the ship gets a buff or a nerf or a global general patch that should've fixed the ship meta but effects the rest of the ships in game instead worse. Ship is back in port, collecting dust. Same tier Premium Ship is suddenly in the works with same features as previous ship in port, but with a new badge (Premium + gimmick + boosted parameters, cause Premium) She is sold like hot cake. WG makes money. The WG world is balanced again (but not as much balanced as Soviet Navy Uber real life ships). I finally got to earn that ship, after the 'nerf'. At some point. I'm half expecting many of the ships to get a nerf in the coming months. Whether it's by direct changes to the ships, or by a fix that effects/trickles out to the rest of the game.

I can't comment with informed knowledge without having to dig through the web to find them all. But quite sure some players from years ago who have played this game without fail could answer that for you. Short of that, you could guess how many there were by looking that the containers that are available to purchase and cross referencing them with the collection icon within your player profile.

wrong ship purchased by another family member
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Earthglade's topic in General Discussion
Yep, I was going to inform you that access to your account is of your own responsibility. Anything that happens with it is not WG's liability. Unless something nefarious happens. Here is a story to make this feel better for you. I bought the Georgia by mistake instead of Jean Bart (yes, it's hard to guess how, but just go with it. It was a mistake, it was late and I was very tired too). So I played a few games, then it hit me. Wait a sec, this isn't Jean Bart. I submitted a ticket hoping that they would roll back my coal + Steel purchase (yeah yeah, I had itchy trigger finger), WG said no. No dice. I felt sad, but I accepted my mistake and learned from it. Sorry that you have to regrind the credits when you didn't have to initially. For some playing 20 plus games may be easy mode, but for some we have other things to attend do or other games. I feel for ya. -
WOWS Modstation since Thursday's update

This is the main reason. Wait few days, let them update them and you have your easy mode back -
Poll: Royal (token) Bundle drop chance
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Oops, only 80 credits earned. But I voted anyway sorry OP. Tier 5 is what dropped on the 4th option. 1st, 2nd were signals, and signals, 3rd was 24 hour Premium time, 4th was Tier 5. EDIT: I couldn't even enjoy the full 24 hour Premium time, since "We have guests coming over..." there goes my free weekend. -
I can't comment as I do not personally have tested, nor played this ship ever. So I will refrain from giving any advice on the matter. Like an adult.
-
Fact of the matter is, that this ship game floats with more fat whales inside them. What really sucks golf balls through a garden hose is that some of their in game skill are god awful to deal with when in same team. That is the real issue here, not whales making it rain for WeeGee hot dancer bank.

so. anyone spend 75k dubs on the cruiser roulette?
LowSpeedHighDrag replied to Padds01's topic in General Discussion
75, 000 doubloons you say? Hmm.... *Goes to Premium shop* *Clicks on ANY AMOUNT OF DOUBLOONS* *types in 75,500* *Gets this message: Maximum amount of doubloons to purchase: 50000.* Ah... forget this, too much math. Closes Premium shop browser. it would costed me 211.07 GBP (UK Sterling). I can have a nice Michelin starred dinner for that. -
There is absolutely no way you can directly buy a Missouri with 1 million doubloons, even if I could. There is not. As for being lucky. The buyer of a loot box (gamble box) will have to be godly lucky to get a Missouri. I know of players (whales) and read many posts on various regions of WOWS that some spent silly amounts of containers (minimum of 40 to 200) to get the Missouri, but never did (but getting others; Kutuzov, Belfast, Kamikaze R, etc). So extremely lucky is an understatement of a century. So let's put this down as a misrepresentation on your part. I never said that tier 7 is the best tier to farm credits. If you scroll up and reread what I wrote carefully. Actually, I'll post it here below: Where does it say that "your (my) statement that Tier 7 ist is the best tier to farm credits" in that sentence? I've pointed out a simple fact. That Tier 7 is less costly than playing Tier 8 or 9 as per your initial suggestion to OP. All but being 1 tier below your suggestion. Yes, maintenance is more expensive at T8 or T9 versus lower tiers (quite obviously). However, you're suggesting that Premium ships cost less than tech tree lines. I cannot agree nor even approve on this. You're still trying to indirectly sell to the OP, that he/she must buy a Premium T8/T9 ship to make credits; this is absolute horse garbage. What we have forgotten to include is the Premium time. With Premium time, one can earn more as a tech tree ship on average. Than playing a Premium ship without a Premium time multiplier. What really earns you the credits? Premium time, this is the short cut, pure and simple. It is designed this way by WG. I wouldn't touch Tier 10 for credit earning. Even with permanent camouflage. Specially without Premium time. Here is the reason why. Below is the Service cost per match for Tier 10 Tech Tree Ship (base cost) * Tech Tree Ship (with permanent camouflage) Premium Ship (base cost) * Premium Ship (with permanent camouflage) Tier X 180,000 90,000 (-50%) 90,000 (x0.5) 45,000 (-50%) Now, let's have a look at Tier 7 Service cost: VII 42,000 37,800 (-10%) 35,700 (×0.85) 32,130 (-10%) Playing Tier 10 Premium ship (w/ permanent camouflage) cost more than playing STOCK Tech tree tier 7 ship. 45,000 - 42,000 = 3,000 credit difference. This is not counting the Operating cost. You know, the ammunition counts, Repair costs, mounting or remounting of consumables. Or any other factors that assist with stacking the credit (signals, camos). A bad round for the OP in a Premium Tier 10 ship could at minimum cost him/her 25,500 x 3 (Montana premium consumable remounting) = 76,500 + 90,000 = 166,500. Add an arbitrary number of ammunition fired in game, with 'repair' cost. You have already lost more credits than starting credit cost. I think what you were trying to say is that tier for tier. Higher you go with Premium ships, the supposed idea is that you would earn more. Except, it doesn't matter if you have a T10 Premium ship if you lose and when you do lose. You lose BIG! How many times can you guarantee that you can win every battle that you play. If you can let me know, I'd like to know this trick too. Until this magic trick is revealed. I will stick to medium tiers, where you can make decent credits with mitigated losses in credits as well. It's a numbers game. A game of averages. They do, but it's not the Premium ships itself that give you reduced service costs. It is their permanent camouflages. OP, if you truly want the easy way out and have the money to spare. Instead of grinding and calculating each game on a spreadsheet like a egghead and not enjoying the game (if you enjoy statistics within a game good for you, not mine with gaming). Buy the Premium time packages, but WISELY. This action alone will give you more chances of earning credits more than losing it. Unless of course, you have a bad losing streak for months...

I forget which map and which island had this bug. But it exists.
