    You wanna know what my old skool view of DD's are? They are cap contesters They are the ones that cap and points wins prizes. They make sure that enemy DD's don't get them and whilst not engaging in one vs one fights with the enemy DD's, you stop/torp cruisers and BB's that try too take back the cap. CV's were the true spotters and recce units (RTS). The more points you get, the more the enemy flaps and start to do stupid things to pull it back. Desperate teams do desperate things and that is when snow balling occurs more often than not. Now that is a general view and i know WG has thrown the balance of certain classes (including DD's) into the bin long ago but i still live by that rule. I have always found that ships that are better at holding caps are generally better at winning games. Either with radar, concealment, fastest firing guns or hydro. The more mix you have, the better you are at holding caps. You can have the worse team alive, but if you hold 3 caps then it's time ticking down in your favour. Less time for your team to do stupid stuff. Now DD's were the last line i really ground, but i'm doing alright with them and use this rule of thumb. For me, it's all to do with the caps. Either taking and holding them or supporting (close) those that might be better at it. I very rarely go off on my own and "farm damage". I know that if i go swanning off then my team will be blind without a CV in the game. Blind players wont push and do the oppersite, go further back. Seeing the DD up front gives (even if it is minuscule now-a-days), cruisers and BB's balls to actually get involved. They know you are up-front and can spot nasty enemies and torps that can be flooding in. No one wants to see DD's further back then the Cruisers! As a DD player you need to lead by example. That's my view on them, rightly or wrongly, and even if it's wrong in this messed up game then it's still, IMHO, doing what is right for the team. If i wanna spam HE from mid range, i would pick a CL and not take up a DD spot.

    And Cruisers... Lets not just mob BB captains here, cruiser Captains are just as bad if not worse at times. Plus the new breed of DD's are also having their share of sitting back and spam HE.

    WG did such a bad job with the rework it's not even worth talking about to be brutally honest. Better to forget the whole thing. Unicums have become even more powerful in CV's but with it, they are also detested. Not by me, I couldn't care less. But the majority detest them and I for one, couldn't be doing with that. They are renowned for being played by people that wanna cause misery and simply farm damage and it is such a shame how they have become.. A massive shame, honestly. Out of 50 players in our clan, not one of them, NOT ONE play CV's in a div. They too can't be doing with the negative tag attached to rework CV's. Again, such a shame.

    I enjoyed the Hipper really. But she is the pinnacle of mediocre, which isnt good or bad (lol). I haven't had chance to talk to some of the guys that have just free XP to the Venezia, but our Bravo used it twice last night and 2 wins with it. Not sure how it preformed as i didn't get a chance to talk to him/them yet, but asked them to put their 2 pence worth into the "info" page in discord for the lads and lassies that fancy grinding the line. I make it a habit not to free XP anything if i can help it. The 2 exceptions were the Pens and Izumo (before tier change and buffs) as i despised them with a passion! So i'm at the tier 3 Taranto at the moment and getting used to going back to mortar arc shells So far the SAP is great against DD's and meh against the rest, but it is still early days where it doesn't matter so much (i have used AP almost exclusively at the moment, 150MM at tier 3????? Yes please) Anyone got the Venezia? Clan battle material? IMHO the stats suggest not (not with that reload, SAP, and 25 mm armour in places you don't want it in)

    Is it a bit too much?

    Typical day on WOWS. 1) Turn on computer and firing up the game and TS. 2) Chat with clan mates and check out Discord. 3) Go into the "looking for a div" room or "count down room" for multi div's. If neither then i'll go into a tier grinding room to helping people grind. 4) If it's really quite i play CK2 or HoI4, but not solo. I don't look at missions, directives or crap like that. If i get contains doing whatever then great, but i don't go out my way to complete anything really. As for mission i just click on the "1 stars" and just play games until i unlock something. I play this purely in a social way and a bit of fun. I find grinding ranked incredibly boring and an exercise in frustration, same as solo randoms. I only play the Halloween missions if other people are but don't go out my way to do it. WG wants you to play this game which is why they are so many. But if i sat down and did them, i would burn out so quick and end up REALLY hating the game. My time is precious with RL commitments and all these extra things are too much. But if other people love to grind them and what not, why not let them? It's a choice at the end of the day, but i see nothing wrong with having them. They want to keep the punters playing WOWS.

    This ^^ and the Hipper is the most mediocre cruiser there is (I still like it) Not ONE person in out clan likes these cruisers. A few can stand them, but that's about it.

    *You can't beat honest experience. This needs to be pinned, photocopied and placed onto every WG employees desk. I mean you read it and it sounds great don't it? You say/message that to an average Joe Bloggs player and he will smile, wave and roll the carpet out....Limiting tier 10 ships????GREAT!!! However... Those that have experienced WG tom f***ary know better. If you do the maths, it's just like @Verblonde has said, it's crap.

  13. Interesting, thanks mate. Bumped into a team yesterday with 3 Klab's and murdered them...But like anything, the more you practice as a clan the better you get so they must have been getting used to it. Our 4 radars and pure tank builds (Grads and Moskva) put and end to those DD's to be honest and the Smol's. Food for thought tho. And yeah, RU builds are very strong (like we all don't know that). We only have one non Russian ship in our 8 man Clan battles.

    Because it is totally and utterly pointless what we think or say. If the WG marketing department wants it to happen, it's gonna happen. There is ALWAYS a financial incentive for doing things like this. How many times have people spoken up against the rework and the problems before it was released and look at the state of it now? All of which they could not give a stuff about, there minds were already made up. We warned them, the streamers warned them, Flamu, IChase ect ect and we still got it. Same as the Belfast, Balancegrad, Smol, Colbert ect ect. But now even they are getting fed up (know first hand). It gets boring to be honest and everyone is given up. WG stopped listening to anyone a while ago. So I too will "wait and see" because that is all we can do.

    I cant see the vid as i'm at work, but what i do know about Wot (well, in the past) is that it is far easier to preform when lower tier then in WOT. In WOT there was tanks that simply couldn't pen higher ones...Period. Unless you use that god awful money grabbing system of premium ammo that i hope to god will never show it's face in this game. The main reason i left WOT a while a go. A light tier 8 tank has little chance against a tier 10 Heavy tank. In fact it couldn't do anything if i recall but splash HE damage which was pitterful. In WOWS, a tier 8 DD can smash the face off a tier 10 BB. Technically, a tier 3 DD can smash the face of a tier 10 BB. In WOT, that wouldn't simply not happen....Ever.
  16. Yeah, nothing to see here. All BB's are Krems, what is the odds? Makes you laugh don't it. Why would they play 4 Klebers'? I would put the Daring above the kleber any day of the week and 4 is too much IMHO. Not seen Arrowfaster for ages too on a side note.

    I could see he was supporting his DD and that is great to see it. However, unfortunately he failed. The friendly DD died one vs one and the Jean Bert couldn't help. Fine, it happens. So for the time being he could have stayed there! The last thing i would have been doing in going into that cap with a Fletcher about and inviting every ship in the map to cross fire me. The Jean bert dies quickly when broadsided. Your a Jean Bert, you can relocated very quickly. You wanna know whats funny? Look at his cruisers, 4 of which are way behind him! So much for cruisers supporting DD players ay. Nothing to see here. Any BB charging smoke is taking a massive risk. So he is not being flamed for being close....He under criticism because he is steaming into a centre cap, early in the game, into smoke with a Fletcher hiding in it without hydro or radar and have a very poor torp belt and doesn't know if the Fletcher has fired his torps or not.

    It can already be cit by all CL/DD and CA in this game. The cit is fine. I have killed plenty of Smol in the Grad. In fact, it's great (if not the best) to take them out. Sweet spot with the pen values and long range radar. The armour is already weak, although it's like a Frankenstein of an armour scheme with a 30mm deck but pitiful sides. WG had designed it so that all heavy AP from BB's go straight through it but it's safe from DD spamming HE (30mm deck). Balanced comrade. You make the armour even more weaker and even 203 mm will go straight through it. The low armour is actually helping it more. Funny world. However, If your angled you will get instantly deleted by BB's though. The combined armour thickens it up for the AP shell to detonate. Krems are the worst for doing things like that. I love the Smol by-the-way. It's perfect for my playstyle but it's too much IMHO. Shorten that range.

    Yes. That my friend is the one thing that separates the casual players to the great players. knowledge. And pushing smoke in a BB against a DD is a choice. You either pull it off or you don't, depending on if he lands his torps or not. The Jean Bert with HE, all forwards facing guns and reload booster isn't actually the worst to pull it off in, but it's far from great. And i have to ask.....What the hell are you doing in the Jean Bert in the centre cap that early??? If anything, you should have stayed here on your 2nd screen shot. You will have 3 nice broadside shots in those BB's. Instead you steamed into the cap and seen red mist. Chalk it down to experience mate.

    And how is that "fix against BB's and Grads" working? Are you noticing BB's going forwards? Hummmm. Nope, they are, in fact, going further back. Yup, the Smol, Frei, Woster and Colbert is all seeing to that. And smoke? unless the BB you are smoke up against knows what he is doing and knows how to fire in smoke (so not many) you will still nicely burn BB's at a distance of 15-16 km. or simply torp him when he rushes. Right now it is FAR too easy to play the Smol as a long range HE spammer. That has to stop. 16 fires in my last game, 16 bloody fires! I should not be out kiting a Zao or out DPM a Henri both of which are heavy cruisers. But fine, lets just carry on going at this rate and it's completely fine to bring more and more HE spammers. I am sure it's great for the game with the more WG brings out, the more BB's are likely to push After all, it's only fire isn't it and everyone can 1 shoot a smol in smoke right? We do have one thing in common regarding this little light cruiser mate. It's both our top 2 Damage dealers, not bad for a CL with DD guns ay, i am sure it's fine.

    Right now at 19km you have nothing to worry about. Hitting a smol at 19km is very very hard, we all know that. The closer you are forced to play, the more likely you are to get blapped. The closer you are, the more susceptible you are to Radar. The closer you are the more chance you are to be spotted in smoke when it runs out ect. It all boils down to range. Shorten the range and you will make the ship harder to sail. You will have more of a choice to make to when and when not to spam HE. I mean it will still be a completely fine balanced Starlin approved ship that will always do well, but it will take away it massive edge it currently has. You cant nerf the reload or fire chance without doing it to the Groz (double standards), you cant take away it's defensive AA as it is a CL after all and Hydro is kinda a given on a CL. So you are left with range and smoke. They wont get rid of smoke (it's Russian) so that leaves range which IMHO is the main problem. Like you said yourself, you fully kit yours out to touch anyone at 19km. There is a reason WHY you do it?

    Don't be like that mate. You know for a fact that i play ALL classes and have no loyalties to anyone one of them, at all. Only want whats best for the game. And how can we say they are a master race when i'm cooking them alive and out right penning them with HE (lol) in a bloody heavy cruiser (henri with IFHE). Or out right penning them with 100mm (lol again) DD shells on the Harra (IFHE). I mean, how messed up can WG get? BB's are suckers to ALL ships at the moment. CV's play with them, DD can torp and still invis....Always. Light cruisers burn them down from a safe distance and in smoke and heavy cruisers/Supercrusiers just out right pen them, some even with HE alone. Not to mention torp running them. Then they have over-pens to worry about and wonky dispersion with a SSSLLLOOWWW reload. This really sounds like i'm sticking up for BB's, i'm really not. All classes have problems and BB's are no different. The more counters WG gives us, the less likly BB's will push and here we are. The playbase isn't afraid of BB's. Range Simple as that.....Range. Cut our/your bloody range it has. Said it AGES ago. 19km if crazy stupid for this kind of ship. 130 mm is one of the best guns there is in this game pound for pound. I love the Groz and i knew how this thing was going to preform before it even came out. What i didn't see coming was the range it has. With the mods and captain skills? Madness. Unlike the 114mm, 127mm or 100mm ect, the 130 mm are easier to use, flattish arcs for a DD calibre gun and accurate. Not to mention the great fire chance. You add that together and you have a great ship. Light cruisers should always relay on fires and torps against BB's (hence why the colbert is worse IMHO). Please remember, Light Cruisers were never designed to take a BB on. Arcade game or not. It took 2 British CL's and a CA to even take on the Sharn and that was only a Pocket BB??? Yes that is RL and i know this is a arcade game (don't we all know that one). Because of the stupid hard cap on certain ships classes, the ratio will always be wrong. When you have more BB's than other classes then balance is always going to be messed up but it was WG path many moons ago. Anyway, knocking 3 km off the range will force the light cruiser to play closer to the fleet (which they should). I'm not gonna gain any Friends saying stuff like this but for the benefit of the game, cutting it's range is the way to go. Your a light cruiser with 130mm guns for god sake, your not ment to spam at 19km away. Your built to provide close support for the DD's and cruisers. Your main targets should be DD, other CL and CA at a push. Not smoking the S*** out of BB's. Again, i know it's an arcade game but come on, lets have a bit of RL here. Alas, WG decided to complete mess the classes and what they are capable of a long time ago.

    Well i do. And yes, it DOES make it worse and that's the point. Any incentive for BB's to push in this game has been pushed back even further. and really didn't imagine you saying that you don't care either way, didn't see that coming. This game must now be sucking the life out of you Deleted in 1 or 2 salvos right? And how many times has that happened to you? Or me? It happens, it happens in ALL ships. But the Smol has the tools to do anything it wants and live and not getting "deleted". Smoke is just one factor, being very small for a cruiser is another. Not including hydro and long range spam. I mean, what else does a ship need to be safe??? Muppet will always be Muppets, nothing to can so with that doesnt matter what ship they sail. Unlike ships like the Des/henri/Zao that takes FULL AP pens from ships like the Yam or Krem, where the AP shells can pass right through a Smol. That's if it can hit it at all at 18km range.
