Clan Battles and constant Mishmash with league

Don't agree. To prove that you are worthy of promotion is to beat the teams in your own league. Your contemporaries. Your the best team in your league. I think what the OP is trying to saying is (putting this into football terms). Do teams from the championship play teams from the premier league to get promoted? No they don't. You get promoted by being the best team IN YOUR league. Wolves arnt going to play Man U to get into the premiership are they? You should be the best team in your league and then see what the next league presents it's self with. I understand about the amount of teams that might (potentially) make this hard to do and i really don't care, but i do see his point of view and alot of others. Especially Clans that arnt the great things since sliced bread and just wanna get as far as they can on equal terms. Lets face it, alot of Clans are happy to play against Clans in their own league and havnt got win rates of 65+. Besides, some teams might have to play against alot of the higher tier Clan than some others that get alot more teams in their own league. That's not how any traditional league works does it? Friendly matches BEFORE a league against higher league teams are to test them to see how good they really are, try out new players and tactics against .

Clan Battles and constant Mishmash with league

Standard at the moment m8. 2 secs.......Out of the 14 games we had over the weekend, 7 were against Typhoon, 2 against Hurricane and the rest in the same league (1st Storm). Although we did beat that Clan that begins with VI and ends in KINS I think we attributed to them going down a league too (their colour changed later), was a good game tho and it think it was a case of "last game syndrome" as they under sold themselves. We have just learned to get on with it. Just a shame that we had lost a ton of really good members to Hurricane-type Clans like HOME and the like. I'm too much of a die-hard clan member to go mercenary

  4. Bumped into @El2aZeR yesterday in his Enterprise . I was rocking the mighty stock NO. Its a painful grind after coming back to US Cruisers after 3 years off. We won and managed to survived in the thing (even tho i got wacked for 3/4 of my health whilst bow on, one salvo) He played well and maybe one day will be on the opposite team in a CV

What CA/CL line to grind next

Its an impossible question to answer to be honest. They all are good it just depends what you wanna do and how you play. For an average player that has no play style or ways of doing things, i would probably say the Hindy. Its the most forgiving IMHO and has all the tools for the job. Its the muti-tool in your toolbox The biggest point for me is that when flanked, the Hindy stands up more to more punishment then the Mosk, Des, Zao or Mino Due to the turtle back armour. You catch a Mosk, Des and Zao broadside and they die easy. You wannt HE? Lots of guns and good fire chance. You wanna throw AP? Lots of guns, good arc and every 8 secs. You wanna Torp? Go ahead. Shame that Des or Mosk has got them You wanna tank? Turtleback armour with little chance to Cit in close. (just be wary at range tho) I would put the Des as a close 2nd. Long radar, good concealment, bow on tanky and the fast rate of fire. The Mosk takes knowledge on positioning but it's laser guns and troll armour is a nightmare. Its a "camp and provide fire support" kinda ship and does it well You always know what a Zao is going to do 9/10...Kite. Its boring gameplay but its effective. Biggest counter is Don't play the Zao game and chase him. Go invis and let him push. Torps are good. Mino is fantastic and versatile if played correctly. But super super squishy and you wish at times that you had HE. I've got some other Clan members that are great in this little thing, i've seen others that die within seconds. But it melts Des and Zao if broadside faster than even a Hindy does (as i found out yesterday in Clans) I dont see the French one...Well, ever. That normally tells you something. But you HE it, i know that. I enjoyed all of the German cruiser line to be honest and fits my gameplay. They are all good.

I personally find tier 7 is the sweet spot regarding CV play and the most enjoyable. 1) Its the tier with the most selection of tier 7 CV's as the GZ doesn't really count at the moment at tier 8. 2) Its one of the kindest tier MM pound for pound. 3) You don't bump into ships like the Des, Mosk or Mino that cause you alot of AA pain Tier 6 is the learn how to actually play a CV. At tier 7 they are honing their skills. Fewer People are CV kings at tier 7 unlike die-hard ones at the higher tiers. AA is hit and miss. You have things like Cleveland, Atlanta, DoY, Alabama, NC and the like but nothing as mad as 8.4 km mino. Even the US flavour of AA (Peps and NO) have less AA range than the Balti and Des. It still hurts but its more manageable. I enjoy all ships at tier 7 to be honest and its prob my fav tier. Tier 9-10 CV games can be stressful in a CV and at tier 7 i can unwind (slightly).

    CV’s ??

But as you should know, is it fun being in a game with so much AA it makes your eyes bleed. Including defensive AA DD's? Can you see why CV captains play at lower tiers. Not even mentioning that economy of high tier CV's that put people right off! May i ask what DD you are referring too, honestly. I bet its something like a Shimmy, Kammy or IJN DD, which to be frank, doesn't have a hope in hell against a CV. BUT....That's a choice you made when selecting the ship in the first place. You might have great torps, invis fire from smoke, Concealment and spotting potential but unfortunately the weakness is having planes hover over you the whole match. We cant have everything. My DD Clan m8's often uses a Flechers/Gearing with Defesve AA and its a massive pain for the enemy CV. I know. Every tier 10 Cruiser has the capability to deal with Planes, period. Des Mons, Moska, Hindy and god forbid 8.4 km of AA Mino death can all seriously blunt a CV attack or downright kill them all off ON ITS OWN! Not even taking into a count another ship close by, whatever that might be. Slap on BFT, AFT and flags and jobs a good one. Then there is the Mis and Montana. Its the US flavour (AA) so i'm cool with that but you seen a Kurfurst or Conq with AA spec? Its nasty. And the New French BB's? Has WG eased up on the crazy BB AA? Nope, not in the slightest. Remember that the US CVs at tier 9-10 have under tier planes. The torps bombers on the Essex and Midway are the same ones found on the Lex, squishy. How about tier 8 CV's in a tier 10 game? Yeah, because tier 7 Enterprise planes last SOOOO long with Des and Minos around. So the only real target that a CV player can hit, especially before HE has taken its toll on the fleet is DD's. Is that right? Were CV's designed to blow up DD's? Don't think so. But WG has made it that way. A good DD player can still avoid torps to an extent and US CV's have to rely on RNG bombers on DD's which is hit and miss (literally). Remember even DD's like the Fletcher, Kaba, Og, Gearing are more than capable of blowing planes out of the sky with Defensive AA. IF THEY SPEC IN IT. Its their choice if they don't and if you get a CV in the game, tough t***s. Its a choice everyone has to make. DD players will always hate CV's, regardless....Its the way it as CV's stop DD players PLAYING THEIR GAME. They have to adapt and easy-going WOWS players don't like doing that, refuse to or some don't even know how to. I can put my hand in the air and say that i'm a crap DD player but do i really have problems when a CV is in the game? Not really and i cant remember being sunk by one in a long time, i know how they work. I understand what the CV player is doing (being one myself) and just adapt to it. Although i do play US DD's with defensive AA, so i know for a fact that CV's are not a problem when spec. First hand experience we call it. The problem is with DD players that havnt played a CV game in their life (or very few) so they don't understand or get it. Its easy to say "He's picking on me" but do we know what its like on the other side of the fence? Its like a blind lame BB that's about to get torp dropped by a invisible DD? You do it because its a easy win and your natural enemy right, so its cool? But at least with that, the Yam or Mont has no defence if the DD choices to say invisible? is that fair? AT LEAST the DD player can slap Defensive AA or Spec and make the CV's life alot harder. That BB has no such luck in that instance so is that right? See where i'm coming from. Not pointing this at you m8, but the whole. I know after playing all classes nearly equal that high tier AA can be hell. My Lion wipes planes out of the sky, even my tier 8 Alabama smashes tier 10 Planes or give them such a bloody nose it wasn't worth it for him. Not even taking into account another ship being close to me. Even better with Defensive AA Hindy is a AA monster when not using Hyro and often see CV Div's with all sorts of Defensive AA ships, including DD's. We have all seen this chaps. Games with 2 Mino or Des, Moskia that push up the islands near the cap and just sit there to deny at least 2 caps from all air cover. That one or two simple moves can alter the whole game for a CV player as i cant even get in close to DD's that are capping. I'm totally cool with that as it's good teamwork but i have a bubble of what, 15-16km, that i cant do anything in or lose a ton of planes. that's only 2 ships. I'm trying not to just wave the CV fanboy flag as i enjoy playing all classes , yes even DD's. But People don't get how hard high tier CV play can be, and we have only covered AA in this. How about the other CV and multitasking/skill and all sort of players screaming for spotting and the like. There are fewer High tier CV players than anyother line BY FAR (can be waiting in que for a while) and there a few reasons for it, one of them is the amount of high tier AA. If you had 10 tier 10 games how many of them would have a CV in them anyway? 3-4? Even if the above comments were a steaming pile of something, does 3-4 games with a CV matter? Its not like you get one in every game like 4 -5 dd's and 5 BB's like we are getting now. Loving the Hindy at the moment.

    The CV Captains Cabin

That's what the cabin is all about, trying to help CV captains. Solid build you've got their so no worries. I would of had dogfighting expert sooner but as your close to getting it, its all gravy. 1) Sometimes you will just get downright outplayed by the enemy CV captain. Some people have well over 2000 games in CV's and you've only had what? 250ish games in yours? It takes time to adapt to the CV style of both thinking and playing. I see you have the Saipan? Get back in that bad boy and really learn how to strafe. I learnt to really strafe in that thing and never looked back. 2) The more time he is P***ing around with your fighters, the better. Please don't get into the "bloob them up" mindset too much. That is great for some things and not for others. The Tahio and Haka can play better when they split certain groups up. 3 set of Haka bombers work great as scouts over each cap. The enemy then has to decide what to do with only fighters? (Muti-tasking) 3) Nothing you can do sometimes with the shear amount of AA in the game at high tiers. Baiting Defensive AA and the like really helps but alot of Ships have more than enough to blunt alot of attacks. Especially tier 8 torp bombers! Took me a few seconds to wipe all the planes out the sky in my Alabama and thats only a tier 8 Ship. The RN and now French BB's not made this easy at all. You seen a Conq AA spec???Or a France AA spec??? My Clan mates us it and its nasty. Remember your not going to go flying into the fleet from the start! Let the HE take abit of toil or smashing soloing ships. It takes time but DD's are fresh on the menu at the start and Those HE bombs can make one hell of a mess. I need to take his fighters out first so I can concentrate on my strike in peace otherwise I get everything wiped out. Time isnt on your side with US CV's. They have longer reload times and serving times. It even takes them longer to get of the decks so you need to be sending those dudes to targets. The IJN player WANTS you to nibble away at them. They have to be more defensive with the fighters so will rely on friendly AA more than you will. I hear what your saying m8, i really do. Be confident! Your a good player (I was a cruiser captain first too ) and i'm sure you will find your own way of doing things. I'm just saying some of the things that i do/did That's not to say its completely right, just how i do things sometimes. I've tried all sorts of styles and ways to do things (aggressive, Passive, Fighters only, Very passive, Late game show) and found that sometimes its a mix of all of them. But....I play US CVs and IJN different. I'm a in-your-face bully with US CV's. Confident and cocksure. I'm a vulture in IJN ones (Kaga aside). Picking targets carefully by using smoke and mirrors. Thoughts Go small first. Try and defend only 1 bombers and 1 torps first using 1 set of fighters. Use the other Bombers as a faint to split his fighters up, spotting his DDs up normally makes them crack as the DD player will be screaming at him. Man aim the strike if you need to, just get used to moving those fighters around. A few times I've tried to move my strike forward to try to do something and then switched back to fighters to do a strafe only to find I lost half my strike package to AA while I wasn't looking. Or if I focus on the strike the other guy wipes out my fighters then comes for the strike anyway. Depending on how much AA there is and my approach, sacrificing my fighters doesn't always give me enough time to complete the strike before his victorious fighters turn up to stop me. I'm not confident enough to do this wrecking ball thing you describe, I need to take his fighters out first so I can concentrate on my strike in peace otherwise I get everything wiped out. Click all group to their locations/target first. Its up to you how you wanna do it (conga line or blob). Then switch to physically control your fighters. So if you need to strafe into his face you can do or to manual evade his strafe and counter strafe. You have to keep your fighters a good distance from your strike. make him work for every km. The more he strafes out, the more planes he loses and more counter strafe time you have. At the end of the day, i'm not the Essex expert and like i've already said, i didn't like it that much. Its got too many things holding it back like servicing times, less groups (for spotting and damage over-time) and lower tier planes. I could tell from the very first game in it that i liked the Tahio much better. But i do love a challenge and doing something different. Hopefully some of the other guys in here can give you their thoughts and opinions. Cheers

    The CV Captains Cabin

Good job. But fighting another Essex is alot different to a Tahio. Losing fighters is nothing if you killed 2 DDs. DD's are game changing ships so a very good trade off. Get your Strafe sorted and you will be fine. The Saipan NEEDS the player to master stafe to unlock her fully OP potential. The Kaga HAS to strafe to give them any advantage over anything and the Enterprise needs to go all out nutty strafe to chalk up those kills and use those reserves it has going on.

    The CV Captains Cabin

First thing is first like all ships...Fully upgrade her first before you judge it. That's Mods, upgrades and Captain skills. i don't need to tell you that you wont unlock her fully potential if you don't and will handicap you right from the bat. Can you provide us with a list of the Mods, Flags, captain skills that you use m8? Getting the foundation right to begin with is paramount. As your at tier 9, i would like to think that you have a good captain with quite a few points. PRIORITISE these captain skills and move them around if needs be. I know that might involve £££ or blooms but Dogfighting expert is REQUIRED. Swap it for torp acceleration or something. Some skills are Needed, some are just a nicety. It's WG way to make you spend money or blooms putting different tier planes on different tier CV's. 1) How did they annihilate them m8? What i mean is did he point and click or strafe into them? I know your captain skills arnt sorted yet but we need to know what he did and what you did? If you tell me that he strafed into your group whilst you tried to lock him up then he has the advantage and is going to win. Simple. If you say that all you did was lock eachother up then you need to upgrade (HP of Planes MOD, Dogfighter). Because you should win all lock up engagements if you did. Final, if you told me that you didn't strafe him then you missed the opportunity to 3/4 kill his group before locking them up. Can you see that 2/3 of these are in your favour, not his. 2 Outcomes of first fighter engagements a. You both strafe into eachother from the start. That tells you that 1) He knows how to strafe and 2) He knows that his IJN fighters wont win a lock-up battle. So in the back of your mind you know that he will be trying to strafe out of engagements . As your US planes (with all skills) and he's IJN, you will come out alot better. Tick. b. You both lock each other up. Again you win as your US planes. that's not taking friendly AA into consideration. Tick. 2) If locking up 2 sets of fighters makes you focus 100% then playing CV's like the Haka (8 groups) will be a living nightmare for you lad. CV play is not easy, thats why we are in the minority regarding all the lines but IMHO its the most rewarding. There is always time to get your strike in as you fighters are a means to an end. 3) What are you baiting? His fighters? The first rule of WOWS is to play your game, not his but always be flexible. You don't need to bate S***. Your a US CV wrecking ball that looks for trouble. You don't wanna play the passive game what-so-ever against a IJN CV. Let him do that. You have more planes for a reason. Your not trying to bait his fighters with your strike, hopefully you wont have to if he's a potato. His fighters need to respond to your strike not the otherway round. All you need to to get that US fighter group in the way. Stay focused. take a 5 second plan in your head on how your going to do the drop (order of planes) and which target and go for it. Mouse priority Manuel or auto is a choice we all make depending on what you have in front of you and the skill of the enemy CV. Some Enemy Captains will give you lots of time to do things some wont. You have to judge which player your up against. First is to send the planes in on man aim to get them there. Second is to get the fighters into position to engage enemy fighters. Always try to Man Aim torp bombers as they are your damage dealers!

    Please fix TVIII matchmaking ASAP

I believe what i see with my own eyes. when i pick a tier 8 ship, i often go against higher tier ships than any other tier That's all i need to know. Not like i'm bothered as you just adapt to be honest, but tier 8 is the worst MM in this game. Do i need someone throwing invisible stats at me saying that i'm wrong? No. Don't always take things at face value. I know because i've witnessed it more than other tiers. For the record, I seem to get more tier 10 ships when i'm in a tier 8 CV (Enterprise) then if i choice a tier 8 BB for some reason.

    The CV Captains Cabin

The Essex... Tahio captains hat on first I will start by saying (like the above post) that the Tahio is a better CV right from the start. IMHO and of alot of other players. First is to except that and come to peace with it. The Essex is still a good CV so not too much of a drama if your a half-decent captain but all things being equal regarding skill, the Tahio will be better (better skill ceiling). The Tahio has more flexibility over you (5 vs 7 groups), faster serving times, less reliant on RNG, better spotting and striking potential. She can do cross drops and her bombers arnt a killing blow that the Essex ones are which means that they can be used as spotters. The Essex NEEDS the bombers as their source of damage. She has tier 9 planes, you have tier 8 planes (apart from bombers). Start losing planes in that 1 group of tier 8 torp planes and your DPM gets nulled quite quick. Its only one group the enemy needs to really Man AA aim at. Now that's out the way....Its good to know your ships weakness before you play them else you will rage. By the time you get your planes off the deck, he could have potentially already sunk a DD. I'm not even joking My 2 pence on the Essex There are far better Essex Captains out their than me. I have had 10 games in it and won 5 50% so take it with a pinch of salt. 6 in solo randoms the rest Div (3). For the record, i didn't like the Essex that much but... Its a blunt instrument so use it like one chap. It wants to do damage and wont let anything get in its way but it needs FIGHTERS to escort them in to stop the interferer pesky IJN fighters getting in the way. The IJN make up for their weakness of being softer and smaller by taking out lone groups of your strike planes if you don't escort them, like vultures. There they have time to Strafe to again, make up for there weakness on 1 vs 1 fighter battles. Don't give them that chance. 9/10 that IJN player will be hell bent on your strike planes and will do anything to bypass your fighters. He/she knows that 1 vs 1 is a futile action. So a single STRAFE is enough to ruin that IJN groups day. but here is where you said your not great on....STRAFING. A strafe in IJN fighters can do damage but not completely destroy a group of US fighters. A strafe in a US fighter group will outright kill anything IJN wise. So that strafe is SO important. You need to do enough to ward the the fighters off of your strike planes. Get them in the way even half way across the map but just put them somewhere that the enemy CV player has to get though first. I did this and they were so caught up trying to get to my strike that i simply strafed the fighters chasing them. Simple. But only use one set of fighters, that is normally enough You need the other set to protect the fleet or spot during this time. Remember, he also need to strike and getting someone to muti task is the key to success. I always feel playing CV's is like trying to predict the future. Guessing where he will strafe and then either counter strafe or strafe his strafe (side on). confusing ay Strafing I would generally say that 5/10 games i have ever played in CV wise, the enemy CV doesn't know even how to strafe. I to this day find it shocking and at tier 9-10 too. 3/5 know how to but execute it really badly (buy fair play trying m8) and the remaining ones (2) turn out to be really good games. There are countless Vids and threads about staffing and pictures paint a thousand words. Although some arnt mentioned like having to move BEFORE counter strafing (to stop you being stunned when they stafe out). First is knowing when to Strafe and when to lock them up. Risk vs reward which is always ticking in your head. Example: 3 bombers coming your way and you have one set of fighters...What do you do? If you strafe you could kill all three if you time it perfect (old lex) and he has them mobbed up? or you could strafe and miss, meaning the enemy has just landed 3 sets of nasty bombers causing major injury or a poor DD is dead. You could lock up his 1st set of bombers and hopefully kill them all before they land and soften the overall blow. Or what about the 3rd choice?..... Leapfrogging i call it. Tight his bombers up one by one before they drop meaning that his RNG drop is at its hardest (panicked). You wont kill all the planes or even half complired to the other choices but instead of landing 15 bombs just say, he landed 2-3 or even none. Anyway im going off topic, but just thought i would say that strafing isn't always the be all and end all. @VC381 remember that they will do anything to get away from your fighters when you escort them (from a slight distance)...So expect that and get ready to counter strafe. 2 things will happen: 1) You tight his fighters up and he will do nothing. Either because he cant strafe or he/she is muti tasking somewhere else. Either way your strike package is going to have some fun 2) He strafes out expecting to catch your strike behind. Now he's a plane down (due to strafing out) and blunting his teeth. You see it coming and counter strafe and puff!!! He has no fighters left. There is only one direction he is going to strafe out off, towards your strike craft so its a no brainer The above is if you decide to tight them up. I would also do this if the fighters are far-ish out and not in effective range to strafe your whole strike groups. If you tigh them up too close then they will simply strafe out into your strike and cause chaos. You need distance from that to effectively do the tight up method. Simple strafe is the next choice. Even if your Strafing is normally dodge, just strafe in a direction that will give the strike time to get through. You know he's coming for them so PREDICT the path he's going take. In a nutshell chap just get you fighters in the way. Make it hard for him to shift them and get to your bombers/torps. Spot his DD's up with your other set of fighters and MAKE him send a fighter group to help and make him fight on 2 fronts. So..... 1) Escort the strike. The Tahio is more flexible and doesn't really need to do this method. 2) Make him muti task and fight on 2 fronts. 3) Stafe or lock-up. Both are options but you need to learn how to use the strafing. Just a few thoughts from me. Like i said, there are far better Essex players than me but just thought i would say a few drunken words in this cabin hope it helps chap.

French Battleships : GOD in WOW !!!

Still not ground the line yet (been away) but stating tonight with the free tier 6 and 10 point captain tonight. They look alright but the only one that really stands out for me is the Tier 9. They are THE BB Cruiser killing line. Like Cruisers need more crap thrown at them at the moment.

    The CV Captains Cabin

Chaps So glad i picked the Haka over the Midway (nice one @El2aZeR). 7 wins 1 lose with the majority of games against the Midway. Not just saying it but that last lost was unavoidable due to the sheer amount of AA on the enemy team ( 3 mino div is down right deadly) and our team left them alone nearly all the game Its the spotting potential, Servicing times and tier 10 Torp planes that IMHO give it the edge over the Midway. Those tier 8 Midway Torp bombers don't last long in a strafe or even some ships AA to be frank. And the new French BBs are going to hurt the US bombers even more due to the amount Mid/Short AA. As if the RN BB line wasn't enough. Torp bombers are more forgiving as you can drop outside of that deadly Short AA . Bombers haven't got that luxury. Need alot more time in it to really comment but i'm liking it at the moment. I'm sure the Midway will be great to play but i hate grinding something that you know isnt as good as the other one (grinding Essex but the Tahio is better) I can say that the whole IJN CV grind was enjoyable all in all. Could have got this CV 2 years ago but never really fancied tier 10 CV games at all (Crap economy). The US line has been frustrating at times and i always felt handicapped when playing against a IJN one, especially in the early days (excluding the 2 torps groups the US used to have). The fighter focus never really worked and was a up hill struggle. The Lex was fun with Full strike but it was S*** or bust type of play. The thing solely depended on the other CV player being a potato. The Saipan doesn't count as its broken on all type of levels
  15. Redcap375

    Hiryu unplayable

A good CV player can make ANY of them work. Ranger, Lex, Saipan, it doesn't matter. Some CV's are better than others in their tier and a good player in a better CV can do alot more with it. Its about the player captain skills regarding CV play. If 2 are equal in skill then it boils down to the actual CV to give them the edge and IMHO CV's like the Kaga and Sapian give them that edge at tier 7. You Also gotta factor in the AA of the teams too and the tier its placed into. I have owned a Sapain in a Ranger countless times (pre patches). 2 ships that are polls apart but swap it around and you can do even more owning Its all about the other players skill. THEN you can factor in the CV.

ENOUGH ALREADY ... GAME BROKEN (REVISED MINUS BEER)

So funny but SO true. -First step is to check his profile and his most played ship clas. -Second step is to check his stats (yes i know im a bit strict here, but still there is always a chance of running into a full metal potato) -Third step if you are still not sure if its a BBiatch whine thread you can always check the (updated*) bingo chart: Another "Bash the living s*** out a CV players" ^^^ Is the nail on the head. Another player that has no idea what it is like to play a CV's and sees it from only one side of the fence. Not only that, but at low tiers! The fact of the matter is that the humble BB is THE EASIEST class to play, by far, in this game. You know why i can say that? Because i play them as well . 1,437 (33.35%) Battleships 1,132 (26.27%) Aircraft carriers 1,510 (35.04%) Cruisers 230 (5.34%) Destroyers I can blow planes out of the sky easy, destroy DD's with secondary fire only if i really want to and can one shot a poor cruiser. You seen what that new LYON can do to a DD, i have first hand yesterday and it wasn't pretty. I can have 2 fighter planes, Monster broken Heal (hint RN BB's), Hydro, Defensive AA or even RADAR for god sake depending on the BB?! Did i also mention a concealment rating better that a cruiser? WG has changed so many things in this game to help BBs it's crazy. Give CV players AP bombs? Great, a way to deal with the high pop of BB players and their superiority.......Then they tell us that it effects only a select few of them! They actuality kill tier 9-10 cruisers more, i mean . Like cruisers needed another indirect nerf. Then they bring out RN BBs that have GREAT AA potential (Love my Lion AA spec) and now the French BB Line with again, GREAT AA potential. Not to mention the DOY and KII and they are BBs. Forget about the KIDD and the like. I bet my mortgage that the next BB that comes out (vanguard?) will have good/great/outstanding AA. You don't even need more than one AA spec Cruiser half the time and even they are become more rare now-a-days. But hey i don't care as i'm happy playing BBs. But i try to think of the other guys too and it's getting harder and harder for them and has been for a long time.

    Is Alabama worth it?

Its very tanky bow on....Its not broadside. I love the Bama and my go to tier 8 BB. Its the ONLY free ship i have got from a container in what? 4 years? Have Steven on him for the better switch and gun rotate. IMHO Pros 1) AA is fantastic 2) Great turning WASD for a BB 3) Small target for a BB 3) Fantastic Torp belt (from the sides). Even if the Enemy CV somehow manages to get a torp drop on you, you wont received much damage for his troubles 4) Tanky Bow on 5) 6 forward facing guns 6) Great Pen AP shells (cit Crusiers all day long) and HE is dangerous 7) Concealment is great (like all BBs now-a-days) ] 8) Due to the arc, BBs with crap deck armour (Please see German BBs) get hurt badly IMHO Cons 1) Shell arcs are..Well US shell arcs. Takes time to get used it to. 2) Goes down quick when being flanked from the sides, more than a German one would. 3) long reload main guns 4) secondary fire is meh. But surprising accurate if you go mad and spec it for it Its a mid range Battleship that can pick its fights. Its more of a brawler then its cousin the NC as it don't have the aiming Mod. The accuracy can sometimes be...Strange. VS German BBs stay and range and you will out damage him very fast with AP via his deck armour VS IJN get close and personal. VS US, load salt and pepper as your both Prob Bow on anyway. I didn't like the NC that much but love the Bama. It handles like a cruiser (please see Sharnhorst)

Do you use "Vigilance" Captain skill on your ships?

Only on one ship at the moment...The Hindy (boosted range with Hyro) and that's for Clan only. Switch to AA on Randoms.

CV Changes (Year of the CV?)

I hope so....And they wanna know why people don't play CV's that much? Just look at the 2 new lines that are coming out. French BBs Another BB line with Great AA. Please see ALSAC, LYON and FRANCE for more details. Merry Christmas. US cruiser split Even more AA it will make CV captains eyes bleed Another Great year for CV players. Never gets old. And i bet my mortgage that the deck armour on the French BB's are crap vs AP bombs. But who cares right

CV please dont let them spot me!

In the nicest possible way m8....Play them and find out. I wanted to know what it like to be on the other end so i played DDs up to the Kiev (old) and Benson. Now i'm god awful in them but i can seriously say that only a hand full of times have i died due to a CV player spotting me up all game. Reason? 1) only 50% of the games actually had a CV in it 2) I have defensive AA on all US DD's Regarding the 2), i know what a Mann can do to planes that hover too long over them. They do just fine for such a small DD . By the time your smoke clears, the group of planes are dead. Not met a CV yet in 3 games in my Benson but i can only imagine its better, not worse. But i'm so bad in DD's they don't even need to spot me permanently to kill me CV captains have a hundred and one things to do and spotting is one of them, but with the possibility to manage 8 planes at once, its not easy. Quite often i spot a dd up and do something else and by the time i come back, they are already dead. If the team blapped him then it was worth it, but i don't expect my planes to come back unscathed. You probably picked a god awful DD's that cant deal with planes at all (like a IJN one, Shimmy or Kammy). You have to come to peace with that selection. You want great torps? then the sacrifice is it's guns and AA. You wouldn't be saying that in a US DD or Russian one. Cuz planes don't last that long hovering over them (depending on the planes, tiers and US or IJN). Gearing Vs tier 7 Enterprise planes is quite nasty. And that's just a simple small DD....Imagine a Mino Plenty of Youtube vids on what a DD's can do to planes. Not rocket science. I often Div with 2 Fletchers in my Tahio and they don't have a problem with CV's. They always tip the balance in fighter vs fighter engagements and are great on their own. I know that i can spot a Shimmy up easy nearly all the game. If i did the same to a Gearing, Og, Kaba or Fletcher i wouldn't have any planes left to kill things with. If i see a Shimmy doing its normal thing of flanking and spotting for the team then you can bet i wont leave that DD out of my sight! A shimmy that is spotted is completely useless and brown bread. Is it fair? Nope, but not every ship can be good at everything. This....Its the hard truth and a choice that we all pick (AA Vs Secondary, Tank builds). I feel for DD players, i really do. The amount of radar and hyro knocking around on even BBs are not making their life easy at the moment. Just look at Clan battles for examples of this (no CV, no defensive fire so EVERYONE has radar, no brainier). But my empathy only reaches so far. A ship that is blind is Dead meat to a DD player and with deep water torps make this job easier. The majority of DD players have the ability and the tools to be a small (Mann) to massive (errr the KIDD) thorn in a CV side....But its YOUR choice if you spec for that. If you don't? Suck it up and live with it chaps
  22. Chaps Genuine question here and a true story. Q. Is there a hack or whatever that disconnects/messes with players in a clan battle? Sleeping Giant Map Clan battle yesterday against a well know clan but believed to be their second team (*****2). Situation Held the closest cap and blitzed into the A cap (the one surrounded by the low islands). Two of our ships (1 hindy and 1 Des) were in the middle waiting for 3 Des to come steaming in though the far side. We knew that any ships that come steaming in would get a wall of torps (our DD was also loitering around the mouth of the cap). A Mexican stand off ensued which we were in no rush to entertain as we were winning on points and held 2 caps. Time was ticking for the other team.....So they made a move, all three of them. Then it happened. At the exact moment they moved from behind the island, both our Hindy and Des players piped up on the radio that they had been disconnected!!!! By the time both players has got back into the game (quite quick) one was dead and the other half. Lucky enough the remaining Hindy player (good lad) quickly threw some torps in point blank and took out 2 of their ships. The last one got nailed by our Conq over the island. Now is this just a freak disconnect? Could have happened at any time but i mean this felt like it was timed to the max. Facts 1) Only those 2 players were disconnect . Our gearing, Conq and Mosk was left alone. 2) The front Des didn't fire a single shot for ages. Even though it radar our DD? That was the front Des with the rest behind and obstructed. What was he doing in that time? (Could be anything but just saying) Back down to earth I don't believe in some of the things people say about hack this and hack that. I would be naive if i said it doesn't happen in any game but i cant remember it ever happening before to me personally. But this happened in such a bazaar way that its smells really fishy chaps. We won the game so if it was then Ho Ho. We made various comments to them about just how fishy it was and even though the team seemed to have English words in there names (the majority) they didn't type one single word back when typing in English. Chaps. Has this ever happened to anyone/team before? I don't know much about hacks and such but I would imagine it would be quite hard to pull off? I mean disconnecting 2 individual people from the game at the same time? I'm still down with the Commodore 64 kids so i don't know that much about such things. Only to have fun the correct way and not cheating. Please can we pipe up if this happens to any of your chaps during Clan battles please. I know I know (tin foil hat time), but i had to bring it up as it was down right weird. Cheers,

    Genuine Clan hack or chance?

Sorry if your personally don't like the title but it seriously could have been or still is so...Tough i suppose m8. But see where I'm coming from? If i thought it was just a server problem, i wouldn't even have posted this or taken time to compile it. That stuff happens all the while. But what is the odds of those 2 exact players going man down at that point in the match?

    The CV Captains Cabin

To date, I have not lost against a single GZ in any of their configurations. That's how good it has been so far (I'm not the best player) Summed up

Mission impossible ... aka "having fun"

Don't know much but I know this....Player skill has declined so much that even singlehandedly killing 5 ships on your own doesn't ensure s***. I have seen people, even whole div's throw easy victory's into a defeat by doing stuff that begs belief. Team Work in ransoms has nearly completely been snuffed out. God that sounds negative but there you go. I have come to Peace with it. I only enjoy div and clan battles at the moment. 5 dead ships in my Kaga yesterday and....We lost. If people don't wanna cap and just camp their is little you can do about it. One out of a lot of examples anyone of us in here could give.
