Higher chances of WR: 1) More chance of having good players on your own team period. 2) More coordinated tactics 3) More coordinated ships. Eg, A Kaga with 2 x Atlanta or Haku with 2 x Minos. Belfast + DD, you know the sort of stuff. 4) Seal clubbing 5) Premium ships 6) MODS (take your pick) and dare i say "hacks". We would be extremely naive if we think this doesn't happen in this day and age. Nothing is impossible and it's only a game, not an online bank. WR is effected by so much. The clan your in, Divs and even tiers. A good player that plays at lower tiers only (or less) will on average have a better win rate than those that play in higher tier games only. Like a premier league player playing against a poor league 2 player. People call this "sealing clubbing" and yes it gives a seasoned player a bigger advantage, hence better winrate. But some just like to play at lower tiers, which is completely fine, play whatever makes you enjoy the game. But when people wave the "look at my 65% WR" flag i just makes me laugh. Yeah, because you pistol whipped 2000 poor players in your tier 5 Texas. I wouldn't be shouting from the rooftops with that one. It takes only a few games in tier 2-6 to grind the line to the next ship. So a guy with 500+ in the Kongo out of 1000 game in total with tier 9 ships in his port kinda tells you that he either really likes the Kongo (fine), he loves seal clubbing or a bit of both. I don't have a problem with people doing it but i personally don't as i feel kinda dirty. The only times i do is when i'm helping people to grind the lines. But i'm like "well yeah we won, what did we expect with 2 Rank 1 players in your DIV at tier 4 against....Yeah no div's at all". You love 4-6 IJN DD's (Minekaze, Kamikaze, Yubari) with 1500+ game in them combined right? It's the same as me picking having 1500 games in the RYUJO against a CV player that has just been introduced to how to strafing . It is a blood bath. Not played the Ryujo for ages apart from Missions, might have to dust that off me thinks. But you don't brag about it and that's the difference .. I bet if you played tier 10 games in the Gearing or Kaba your WR would go down. It might not, but the majority do. With a staggering 10,394 battles under your belt i'm surprised you don't have 1 tier 10 ship and only 2 Tier 9 ships! . But like i said, each to there own m8. That is in no way a personal dig at you mate, but you kinda fit into my example.

What! Just as i was enjoying that set up they might be changing it. So they nerf the Midway reserves and give the Haku more fighters groups in the air at once? Thanks for the info shippers

Good point chaps Never used the 2-3-2 set up to be honest on the Haku (free XP) but i do find uses for the extra bomber regarding more spotting, Extra damage and more planes for the enemy to worry about (even that empty bomber for MDK CV spot). But i do see your point regarding the extra fighters. It's just that i don't run out of fighters that often to change the layout. Will give it a try tho but wouldn't the Midway nerf make having more strike planes a better option because he has less fighters to play with? Having about equal amount of Fighters after the nerf could be good enough for some people? Sure, when the Midway had loads of fighters to throw out, 2-3-2 seems logical. I suppose it's horses for courses, if you find yourself running out of fighters then the 2-3-2 seems like the set up for most. It's not like the 2-3-2 set up isn't great for strike potential already! Plus its something different to the Tahio set up which uses the same format. I like to test my muti-tasking skills with 9 groups in the air at once What? what other layouts can you choose from now? I hope the 2-3-3-hasn't gone.

I would say average considering i'm in a clan don't forget. Being in Clans/Div increases your WR by a hell of alot, depending on the players you have of course. Take that 58% into a Higher Clan and immediately add 5-15% onto that number because of Div's with Purple players. It's not hard. But i am quite happy with the Clan i'm with (it's a laugh) and that's what counts in the end....Having fun. Plus real life stuff you know I'm disappointed that we didn't get to typhoon league this year to get the flag, as we got their quite quickly in the last one. But we had 3/4 of the first team players leave before and during to "better WR clans" or even National Service! ( i know, 2 players too) which is completely fine. It's all about building players up and even though the players we have at the moment arnt that used to Clan battles they have come on leaps and bounds which is great to see and are keen to learn, including myself. I have no doubt they/we will get their next time with actual planning and co-op and that's the greatest feeling. Most games we just clicked, quick QBO's and played and still managed to get to the 1st Storm. It's about re-building teams/clans up and that's the beauty about really good ones that last the test of time. It's actually good seeing players leave a lot better than they were to when they joined. They will always be "CG" at heart.

And an extra bomber for goody fire and spotting duties . Makes a huge difference.

Completely agree "Know thy enemy". DD play takes something i cant put my finger on but " seat of your pants" and "Balls of steel" spring to mind. I became alot more efficient in killing DD's in the CV's as i knew how they move and what the average DD player does when he starts flapping. I also know what the CV player can and cant do and when to turn and when to slow down. Even knowing the torp speeds of the IJN or US planes make a huge difference including torp spreads on the Kaga and Enterprise. It also gives you a non-bias view when people talk about ships. Saying what and what cant be done in them when you can say "Hang on fella, i have that ship too you know so stop waffling b******" Trying to argue that some DD's cant give CV players a nightmare is the same as saying that a CV cant kill a Kongo when, how and where it wants (if on his own). it doesn't wash with me BB play is so easy its close to being brain-dead like so you wont even find it a problem. If i wanna game i don't need to think then i hop in my Alabama, Kur, sharn ect... Dont get me wrong i enjoy BB games but it's the easy gear. Alot of people say CV play is very hard and i will admit it took some getting used to but i think playing muti tasking games like the original Command & Conquer in my youth has help with that. HMS ARK ROYAL was my first ever Air fix so there might be some link there I love what cruisers are in essence, Support ships and fit with my style of play. Cleveland is still my most played Ship to-date. Shame it got lost with all the added mechanics and power-creeped out. But cruiser's are losing their way abit in WOWS with some BB's doing the same job just as well and same if not better concealment (i mean REALLY!). Plus MM having only a few Cruisers per match really doesn't help this. Low/Mid cruisers get hurt the most, higher tier ones not a much i have to add. Knocking around in low/mid tiers in a CA with Ships like the Fuso (shotgun), Lyon and that French tier 6 one (more powerful scatter shotguns), Sharn and Hood (AKA cruiser killer's) can be painful. Like Clan wars in a DD with 4 ships knocking around with Radar waiting to drop you

and I 100% agree. That's why i said EXP. As soon as i posted it i Knew i should have said DAM and/or Exp. So i'll try that again....DAM and/or Exp . Either is SOOO much better than taking someone's WG. A guy in my clan is a great DD player, so much better than i will ever be in them but his Avg Damage is a hell of at lower than mine . If i wanted a really good WR (currently at 58%, average) I would play nothing but a select few ships and stay way clear of DD's (i'm notoriously bad in them). But i wanna play all classes to experience them and i will overcome my fear of caps in the dreaded DD's. I wouldn't even have given the NO/Penscola the time of day if i wanted a higher win rate

    About winrate

WR don't mean S*** to me. There are so many ways to increase (Div play) and decreases them (playing new ships and not your fav ship/line) it's distorted. Seen CV players with 3 Div winrate of 80% then plummets down to 50-55% on solo stats. I wonder why? The only things that i need to know from my team is how much EXP and DAMAGE they do on average per game.

    You have to laugh

2 nights ago will go down in my history of playing WOWS. I seen the most awful, pathetic, anti team-play/skills that i have ever seen in WOWS. It was truly astounding seeing 2 full health tirp's sniping from the 10 line, DD's refusing to spot, cap or do anything, and i mean anything! Or about to win the game and then throw it away by pressing the "fire" button. I have been chat banded (until 17th) for the first time ever after that night. I hardly used Chat in game but it's getting so bad that some players need to hear it. Maybe they don't wanna hear it, care, or understand but it has to be said. I didn't even swear. And you get comments like "your not the leader". Yeah, because if you remotely listened we would have won this 2 mins ago! "cap and hold for the win" and there they go like lemmings to their death one by one. Full broadside and all. "Don't chase CV and Cap, win on points!" And they chase the CV, and his escort and get sunk and when they only needed 20 more seconds to cap and win. "DONT FIRE AND GO INVIS". He fires, gets killed and lose the game!!!!! The MM regarding Player skill on each team is so broken with 6 Typhoon players on one side against a barbarian team of mixed players on the other. Even if your on that side, it feels wrong for the enemy on so many levels. What chance does a team against 6 OMNI/OM players have to an average team of WOWS players? I think a good break is needed. I have to come to peace that alot of players who play this game are about my sons age and don't know any better. The skill gap between good and bad players is currently at it's widest IMHO.

I have seen a whole new level of Bad players tonight it's not even funny.
  11. The DesMo can be stock against planes to be effective. AFT for sweet range and DDA for S**** and giggles. Mino doesn't NEED it, hes just an AA god with it all. 8.4 km of AA is complete over kill regarding the Mino. Spotter range or not, no self-respecting CV captain is going anywhere near a MIno if they have too (depending on the load up screen stats). Equip Man AA, BFT and Range mod and see the difference. long range DPM of 118 to 236 makes a HUGE difference than having 1 km more range. 315 of mid rage AA is enough wouldn't you say? Remember, it's harder to knock mains guns out than AA mounts. You want your main power in those main DP guns. By all means add all the AA equipment to the Mino but it doesn't need it all to be very effective against planes. Doesn't matter how many brain cells the CV captain has, if he cant get his enough of his planes through ir doesn't matter. It's not like he is gonna run out of defensive AA is it? IMHO. Didn't even add 10% with the flags too.
  12. I didn't say the Akizuki didn't have flavour but it would give the other IJN "Flavour". I was surprised that the Akizuki didn't get it tho (it was a AA ship) but this is a new sub-branch. I would have welcomed DDA on the Akizuki to be honest. CV's life's a misery but would have kept to the "History" of the ships which i'm all up for and always have been. I'm also against CV's killing DD's in open water but WG has forced this as BB's AA is getting out-of-control, CL and CA are Anti AA anyway (which they should be, CL more so tho). DD's are too important to leave running around the place and are game changers. I totally understand why DD players have a beef with CV players. The Mino/US BB's has taught us that Defensive AA consumable isn't even need on some ships As you have already pointed out, both the German and PA already have decent AA even for a DD don't forget. I hope it's not nearly as strong as with DAA. And i'm sure you would agree that something would be seriously wrong with the game if the smallest ships in the game can stop a CV from "dropping on it". It's a small DD after-all and not a set of mini Clevelands sailing all over the place. We already have CL, CA and BB's doing that already. Up to the Captain to spec it for AA or not, that choice we all make, but WG have gave them the tools TO do it and it's extremely good when it is (For such a small ship) Flags, AFT, BFT, Man AA, AA range Mod and AA Damage Mod (depending on tiers) are all items/skill we can equip our ships/captains the make CV Captains life's simple-Hard-Harder-Quit. For a Ship to be "Full AA build" takes all of these right? In some peoples books. But MOST ships only need a few of these to make a CV captains life alot harder-Quit. Does the Des need BFT? No, but a simple AFT skill, that's only 4 points, would be enough to stop any plane getting through. It has defensive AA for free. Period. Does the Mino need AFT? No as it can equip the AA Range MOD and still have very good range of AA and with Man AA for those deadly main DP guns. Does it need more accuracy when it's pumping shells out like its going out of fashion? Does the Lion need BFT when it has that much mid-rage AA damage? No, but bringing those out to a good range is deadly with AFT and Range Mod. 10% AA Flags are a given. Its all personal how you spec a ship and everyone has their own opinions and ways of doing it, which is cool. Like you have already said, most DD's already have good AA. If DD's have good AA what does that make the other lines in WOWS......Outstanding. Any thing that says "AA" either Skill or Mod directly counters one type of ship..... CV's right? Do CV captains have a skill or MOD that has something that is anti DD, Anti CA or Anti BB? Aimed at one type of ship like AA does? I don't think they do. Even AP bombs for German BBs (and high tier cruisers) isnt a skill or Mod but an all-or-nothing choice. I cant pick the "increase hit chance BB with torps" skill before the battle like you can by slapping AFT or AA range MOD on a ship. It is far far easer for a Ship to go anti CV than a CV to go anti ship with all the selection we get now. I'm not saying CV should have these at all, but we don't realise how good we/you have it really. To be able to do so much against one type of ship. Just a few Skill and Mods can make a CV's life so much harder. If everyone did it (thank god they still don't but its getting more frequent) the CV line would simply fade away like it did not so-long ago remember. WG had to do something and the new US set up was born, but now they have neffed them with lower tier planes and now reserves on the Midway, it's only a matter or time before it goes back down again to those numbers. I wanna play against good CV players both in my CV, cruiser and BB's, even DD's. Not potatoes that have the CV life sucked away from them by, among other things, current AA levels. Anyway, regarding the new IJN DD's lets see @fumtu I'll email you a pint if i'm Wrong
  13. Can you even begin to imagine the Akizuki with defensive AA? Dear god above. Thrown in a KIDD for extra laughs. Because 1) they knew that these 2 DD's were coming out on a separate line and will try to give it more "Flavour" and 2) Defensive AA will make a mockery of Planes. how many people were moaning (giving their option) about the IJN being the only DD's that cant deal with CV's ? Well, here is your answer. As you know, the Current IJN DD line doesn't have Defensive AA (unlike the US and Russian) at the moment. As both new ships will carry more AA than the rest, i can see the writing on the wall. I might be completely wrong m8, but enough of a gut feeling for me to stick my neck out of the parapet.

ST Midway huge hangar capacity nerf criticised

There has to be some hidden reason why they are nerfing it like this? I just cant for the life of me put my finger on it . Leaving it at that simply doesn't make sense. If common sense fails then its normally down to ££££ regarding businesses.
  15. More AA destroyers with defensive AA (You know they will chaps) Glad the Shimmy has more concealment and buffs to the Hipper and Pin. Good all round set of changes but the game didn't need any-more AA DD's.

I avoid tier 8 CV's games as much as possible. I only play the Enterprise at tier 8 now-a-days because its so different to the others or when my Clan M8's wanna take their KIDD's and Alabamas out for a spin. The MM makes it stressful most of the time. But...Like other grinds, its the one you have to get though to have ships like the Tahio (Love it) or the Haku (Love it more). Tier 7 is the best IMHO. I remember liking the Hiryu when i played it moons ago, more than the Ranger back then. But since the changes i don't know how the Ranger handles now. Hiryu is 3rd on my list (Behind a Saipan and then Kaga) with the Ranger being last. But ALL of them work with the Hiryu being a solid choice. I simply cant remember the last time i lost against a Ranger As i have both the Saipan and the Kaga, i sold both the Hiryu and Ranger long ago. I not a fan of playing CV's with only one set of fighters, too restricted for my tastes.

    New ranked season T10

Can i ask a genuine question to you chaps. Do you think they have chosen tier 10 as it brings the most amount of money into the coffers? Above all, do you think this is the main reason? Those that cant play unless they grind a hard grind (average player) or pay ££££ (for Credits or XP) in order to get one. Or am I just being cynical? However, I do believe that tier 10 is equal tier with all ships being viable in someway (Like Clans) I welcome the fact that people ACTUALLY HAVE TO CHOOSE between AA and Radar, something they just had to switch their brains off for in Clans. This will give both DD's and CV's players more of a chance in equal measure. Cruisers will become the new best friends of ranked and jack-of-all trades. It also gives DD players more space as those cruisers/BB's that spec for AA are at a disadvantage. As opposed to Clan where every man and his dog has Radar/Hydro.

I think i might actually try and get to rank 1 in this Ranked season. Sho then the Haku i think . Or maybe the Alabama then Hindy. I bet a pinch of S**** to a plant that everyone will moan (because reasons) and we will have tier 6 CV's to play at tier 10

    Hindenburg AP damage decreased

Hindy rule of thumb 1) AP anything completely broadside for massive damage, 12 AP shells tend to do that, Clan battle style. Please see old Cleveland for more details. 2) Anything that is slightly angled load salt and pepper and burn it to death. 12 shells being thrown out every 8.8 secs (with skills) is BBQ time. Hindy is my go-to Tier 10 cruiser. Its the Swiss army knife of the WOWS world. I spec it completely different in Clans than i do in Random tho. BB's are in camping mode at the moment and hitting a Bow-on Yam or Mon is charcoal time and hard to miss. I love the range on the Hindy with spotter plane and the shells arnt Mosk like but neither are they Des, just right. I mean what's not to like? Fast firing guns Tanky Can kite Torps AA Hydro Good shell speed and stigma HP Long range spam Concealment (12.1 km) You rush the Mosk (no torps and slower firing guns), you out-kite Des (use your range and his shell archs against him), you out-right kill the Mino when he shows himself either out of smoke or behind the island whilst angling in the meantime. The Zao is best match against the Hindy and it will out-kite it and troll armour when angled but HE does wonders . Both can be deadly in close with torps but the angle which the zao needs to fire them goes against him. When he turns to show them, smash your 12 AP shellls into his side. If he somehow manages to do the shame to you then turlte-back armour mother F******. If any of those ships above play to their strengths then they can beat the Hindy badly, but you never play to their strengths but yours. You don't Rush a Des in open water Stay at range with a Mosk Kite with a Zao Fire AP at a Henry Play hide and seek with a Mino with 10 km torps and 10km concealment. IMHO the Hindy is perfectly fine as it is. I would go so far as saying that it's the most balanced ship WG have produced.

6 Ship kills and 47 planes in the Kaga and...........LLLLLOOOOOSSSSTTTT! Would have won but ran out of time. Had to kill 3 Ship on my own as everyone had died. Just wished i sent the CV into the action with the secondary sooner. I forgot how nasty they can be. They only had 2 ships left which even a bomber could have sorted out. killed DD at the start, killed the DD trying to hunt me down and our team still sailed around the map aimlessly doing such stupid stuff it beggars belief. 2 x Sniping tirps Div and a buddy that just sailed into the CAP, complete suicide. Not including the AFK Colorado It's games like this that make you wanna throw the computer out of the window and report everyone on either team Enemy ships still insist on sailing on their own and wonder why they get sunk!
  23. Redcap375

    US Cruisers

I feel your pain. I don't like the ON at all, but you made the Pens work, something i just couldn't (the most hated ship in my book). As you know, tier 8 MM is the worst and the NO suffers alot. 67% with the NO at the moment but 22% with the Pens It is BY FAR my lowest win rate in any ship, even DD's which i still can't get a handle on. But Divvying up with clan m8's have helped alot with the NO.
  24. Redcap375

CV player pro vs medium player

^^ Not a truer word said my friend ^^ Completely agree. And now some people are on the war path saying that CV's cant div with friends????? I mean what the flying F***. Yeah no-one bats a eye lid when Belfasts Div up or Atlanta's with DD's or "fire on, fire off" with Conquers do they? Because both lines are played by the majority of players and we wouldn't want to upset them would we. No OP there then But yet again, for no reason the CV captains get it in the neck. Biggest gripe And for those people who refuse to AA spec.....GET A GRIP! How many times do we say this...Its a choice we all have to make so deal with it. I actually thank god that people like @absolute_justice don't because if everyone did, the game would be completely unplayable with a CV. I make sure that every ship I sail is equipt to give CV's a hard time, some more than others. If i dont see a CV in the game? So what. I'm still gonna be able to function. Just because i don't have DE or Man Secondary or whatever I gave up for AA, doesn't mean i'm a patato Alas, People would still complain that CV's have secondary guns which are too strong It's getting old really quick. WG, like they have said are going to redo them. I don't know when, i don't know how but i am DREADING what they are going to come out with. Because some of the Bull**** that has been shoved into their ears by BB players (majority) and vengeful DD players will alter their minds like that worm they use in star trek Wrath of Khan. I said 2 year's ago that the AA will get alot worse. And what have we had since. The RN BB's (mid range death), The French BB's (same with DP thrown in) and guess what will be coming next? That's right, US CL. Ships that were designed to provide AA for the Fleet and the Heavy Cruisers will still keep that "US AA flavour". Do we all think that the Russian Paper BB's that will come out will have IJN level AA? i don't think so some how, we/i'm dreading that one . More Like US style. People wonder why there arn't many good CV players, I bloody wonder.
  25. Redcap375

ST Midway huge hangar capacity nerf criticised

^^ This @Black0rchidsimply doesn't understand the meaning of the word "flexible" regarding CV play, it's not his fault as you have to play them to understand that. Those that do, understand it. It has every place in this argument (or different options i would like to say). The Haku is more flexible in everyway. The Midway reliance on his bombers doing damage seriously undermines the flexibility of the CV. Of course it can still do multipul things but to a lesser extent than the Haku can do. What's more flexible the Gearing or the Shimmy? Or the Hindy or the Moskiva? The majority of DD players would tell you the Gearing and the majority of Cruisers players would tell you the Hindy. That's not saying that any of them are crap and they excel in other areas's, its just one is more flexible than the other. The majority of CV players (myself included) are saying the Haku is more flexible...See what i'm saying. Summary Midway has squashy torp planes and now have less of them. Don't get me wrong, i'm laughing in my Haku as their gettting less planes but i personally think its not good for the tier 10 Cv's. The Midways strengths are on reserves (long game) and fighters. They are now taking away one of those strengths. 2 x torps planes are down right deadly against non AA ships but wet paper to those that have even a slight tier 10 AA build.
