Should i buy the friederich de grosse? ( tier 9 german bb?)
Redcap375 replied to Flavio1997's topic in Battleships
This^^ I would mate because i know what the Kurfurst is like and enjoy the ship. So i would say its a means to an end (like the Izumo). If the Kurfurst wasn't as good as it is or if a crap tier 10 BB was there instead, then I wouldn't grind any further and stick with the Bis/Tirps. I found the Ship all right and left it with a 60% winrate. But it's not a keeper IMHO.- 19 replies

Can you imagine if you take strafing away from CV play? Those that remember Closed will have an opinion on that and it was CRAP. Those with the better fighters won, S*** bust. Where is the tactic in that? The day they take Strafing away and/or Man Aim is the day I stop playing CV's...Period I fear that WG will dumb carriers down so much when this re-work happens and i'm worried chaps. What better way to reward good CV players by dumbing it down. You should be rewarded for your skill and learning, being the best, not bringing it down where skill doesn't matter at all. See that in any other class? Nope.

Its a tier 10 Atlanta, pure and simple. You will play them the same.
-
But get that deadly AA range out with either AFT or AA range MOD wouldn't you say chap?
-
BFT not need as it's already strong AA wise and with AFT and defensive AA is wasted. It's not a Conq, Lion or secondary build BB's. CE is a must in a ship that need to run and hide when seen or to get in close. CE and Cruiser is life. IMHO: 1- PT (need to know these things ) 2- AR (for 2 points who really doesnt, it's a steal and daka daka) 3 -DE (F....I....R....E) 4-AFT (Extend that great AA potential) 4-CE (Sneeky sneeky) 4-IFHE (Pen) Any ship that can equip Defensive AA doesn't need Manual AA. that's a Mino or NC/Alabama job. SI is a tricky one. Ships like tier 9-10 RN ones need it for heal (click and new ship appears) or BB's in general for healing. Or clan Battles where AA isnt needed. The Worcester doesn't need tones of Defensive AA as by the time you have used them all, the enemy CV is de-planes already. If you find yourself running out of radar then SI is a good choice i suppose and would drop DE for it (*or suggested below), but 3 charges is normally enough for me anyway. DD's don't have a long life expectancy in this game. Fire is more important to me than an extra Radar. *AFT can be dropped if you use the AA range MOD instead. Does this ship really need more accuracy when throwing that many shells out from a short range? 4 point can net you SI instead and remaining 2 points (1 always left with 3 x 4 Skills) is totally up to you and how you like to play. IFHE, CE, AR, DE, PT is a must in my books.

You and the 90% of WOWS players

First thought was "Dear god, more Insane AA" and that hasn't changed. Just like the Mino, people WILL spec it at least half AA Spec on top of it's already good AA. I think it will be a strong ship at tier 10. Regardless of fire chance, we all know that if you throw enough shells in the air they will catch fire (please see Lyon). So many players will have DE equipt along with IFHE and flags. But it's fragile and map dependent. No smoke will hurt it and if it gets caught then it will die very quickly. Wouldn't wanna be a enemy DD against this ship in a DIV with friendly smoke.

Same here mate Havnt seen one tutorial to-date. But after what, 5 games in a CV, i thought "What's that strafe thing the enemy CV player is doing, I want some of that!". Game 6 and i'm strafing. Then you have tier 9 players that still cant Strafe or Man aim. Sometimes there is no words. Come to the conclusion that the majority of players are just kids that click and that's it.

TX Ranked and the reason why its "teams" are awfull!?
Redcap375 replied to Gojuadorai's topic in General Discussion
Another Ranked... I care less about ranked than anything and can't be doing with the stress. The Maps don't look great too. Might do the usual and get to Rank 10 and stop. Have absolutely no interest to get to Rank 1....Ever. I prefer either "team play" like Clan Battles or Div battles like in randoms. Ranked is neither team play OR Div big battles. Fed up trying to coordinate the team and the amount of times i have to completely drag an awful team to victory with a CV isnt worth the stress. Playing your heart out with all that crazy AA Spec around only to come top and STILL lose does my head in. It's not worth all that effort. Might do the Alabama this time. -
Both are good CV's. Both are great in a good CV captains hands. But IMHO the Haku is better.

CV's current state and population - an analysis

Just don't dumb it down WG like i am afrade you will do. A Warship game without CV's would be very sad indeed. -
Finally a US battleship with longer range secondaries
Redcap375 replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
But the Alabama and the NC gets trashed MORE then say the Bis or Tirps within a certain range. I would rather be in a Bismarck if i'm about to get broadsided than a NC or Iowa at 10Km range. The Carolina does have better guns (acc) no doubt, but for that they give up turn rate and Torp protection. AA is better but to be brutally honest, both are classed as fantastic AA platforms with the NC having more Mid range ones. But both are more than capable with dealing with planes. But yes, technically the NC has slightly better AA. The NC is better at longer range and the Alabama mid. The strengths of the ships complement that quite well. Trying to snipe in a Alabama will yeald mixed results and brawling in a NC 9/10 will not go well. I am looking forward to one ship and have been since they brought the first stats out for the French BB line...The Alsace. Cant wait for that one (at Lyon at the moment!). That will be enough on that line as the tier 10 looks like a turd (not well liked in our clan). Looking forward to see how this ship will pan out and i think it would be fun and different to play. -

@ElrogGA Was the chaps name in the enemy CV. Never forget a Good CV captain Could be me but i have noticed a slight improvement in CV captains lately. Could be that i'm getting rusty (grinding other lines) but there are more people who can at least strafe now, with mixed success. Keep up the good work lads.

Div with Mino. The "Anchors" are the first signs that the Div means business and normally the CV captain is of a good quality. A CV with 2 Minos is a sight that strikes at the heart of any enemy CV player. You stick those 2 ships on either cap (or behind the hill like usual) and it makes a no fly zone for the enemy CV. Anything that tries to get into the cap without Defensive AA is dog meat and there is little the enemy CV can do if he hasn't done the same or they lemming train and combine AA (which takes team work and communication, which is rare) Anchoring is a rare example of team work in this game and using the ships to benefit of each-other. But people ALWAYS like to complain and any signs of team work is evil and should be purged....They call it "OP" but its the finest example of teamwork. The Belfast has been doing it for years but when you involved the word "CV", it's pitch forks time and nerf bat...Again. Anchoring gives the opposition A MASSIVE ADVANTAGE. But like i said, no more than ships like the Belfast and Kuts. For the record, My Div had 2 Ibuki (both with defensive fire) as one of them was grinding to the Zao. Simply throwing the Range Mod on the Ikuki with Defensive AA does wonders..And thats only a IJN cruiser. Mino with 8.4 km of AA with AA man Aim is just a painful experience. Lets not forget BB Anchors too or even DD's. Always play the Alabama with 2 clan mates grinding tier 8 CV's. Its a AA monster. 2 x KIDD div with the Enterprise. 2 x Flechers with the Tahio or Essex 2 x Clevelands with a kaga or Saipan. The list goes on... A Kaga with 2 KIDDS is hell on earth mate. DD's that can push that far forward with that much AA is such a great combo. Not only do they cover the cap but far beyond. Not many ships that can do that so far forward than the KIDD can.

Same thoughts. I know you didn't run the 2-3-3 but at least with that you can send the bombers and forget about them (most times) or drop their load and scout. With that extra set of fighters it's alot more intensive on an already demanding CV I bet. Skill ceiling even higher now. I'm still upset as i really enjoyed the 2-3-3. That extra fire or scout made a difference more often than not in my books. I rarely lost all my fighters to think about the 2-3-2. As i'm used to 8 groups at once the 3-3-2 wont be much difference apart from their role. What a story the Midway is ay Extremely OP (closed) Then they nerf bat it and was always second best to the Haku for a long time. Then they changed the Layout and people went mad over it (2-2-2). This got people to grind and spend money no-doubt £££ (lets be frank here) People now have it and then... 1) They nerf the planes 2) They nerf the Reserves And he it is now......Still second best the the Haku. Ho ho ho But did they plan this all along, to get people to grind it? Maybe...Maybe they wanted people to grind it with the new and wonderful 2 torp planes and just like Warhammer 40K did regarding Astra conscripts (So OP it hurts), they nerf bat it and changed the flavour to tanks instead. This is great and i mean great business sense and earned Games Workshop a lot of money as people start to buy tanks instead. They need to sell things so they change the rules or the stats. I know that you don't have to buy anything in this game, but as you all know alot of people don't wanna wait, it's human nature. So they buy premium and Xp. Or I could be completely wrong and WG are just P*** poor at balancing CV's. But the one of the many things i've learned from my job is don't take much on face value. There is always a reason and most of the time it involves money. I simply fail to believe that WG is that incompetent. Lets be honest, It did make people grind a line that was judged by many to be worse. What better way to do it than put a fat carrot on the end of the stick.

First game in a CV after 2 weeks off and i get a OMNI div Tahio...great, with Mino too). Was a great game and both of us sunk 3 ships a piece, although he did shot down more planes than i did (Die-hard DD spotting to the end tipped the balance but cost all my fighters). We won in the end and just as i was about to sink his CV, the time ran out But a very good and hard fought game.

Finally a US battleship with longer range secondaries
Redcap375 replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
Good question and one that will no doubt split the jury but the Alabama still gets trashed when showing it's broadsides more than most, accuracy is bad at long and iffy at mid range (lower sigma than the NC and no modification for accuracy like the NC dos), and is practically blind to DD's unlike the Missouri. But it would be a very strong ship indeed with solid stats. I would say its the same as the Tirps to be honest. Alot of differences, but the main ones being that the Tirp has to sacrifice a hell of alot of AA and AP bomb damage for Torps and Turtleback armour. If you want a great support ship then the Alabama with the secondarys would be a fantastic buy. It's already good at the moment. If you want a brawler then the Tirps will always come out on top, regardless of the extra secondary range the Alabama might have. Although the Silver line equivalent would start falling behind alot and some already argue that it is. Apart from the better accuracy, what has the NC really got to offer against these 2 clones? This should not be a P2W game....Ever. I re-installed WOT yesterday after having 4-5 years out as some of the Clan members are installing it and my god...It's turned into a horrible horrible game and P2W is rife and plainly visible. They don't even bother hiding it up either. Not being unable to pen things useless you buy GOLD ammo is completely shameful. -

Redcap375 replied to darkstar73's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea This ship will attract quite a few people as it's a secondary build for a US BB. It's different and i for one, like different ships. Bow-on tanking damage whilst throwing secondary shells at 11.6 km is quite a good deal considering the Alabama stats (if they keep it) Very good torp belt and extremely good turning for a BB will make it quite strong. What is not to like about a ship that can: 1) Throw heavy main shells that can pen nearly everything 2) Bow-on tank with 6 guns pointing in one direction with decent bow armour. 3) Very good torp belt 4) Excellent turning 5) Very good AA even stock. Never mind the BFT and AFT skill that you WILL put on it including flags...Minimum 6) and Now 11.6 km of secondary fire from 20 x 127 mm guns (10 x 2)? 7) Cruiser like concealment (12.3 km). Gives the enemy ship not much time to figger out what he wants to do unlike the Bismark as he can see it coming a mile off We all know its not going to be an all out brawler as it has no turtle back armour , hydro and will get annihilated if caught in a cross fire. But Bow-on to a cap with your sides covered with a good field of fire can be become a great area denial BB. This is what the Alabama should have been by-the-way and what i expected before it come out, more secondary range that is. Disappointed when it wasn't. So... NC - Long range Alabama - Mid Mass - Close They should just slap the range onto the Alabama and that's that, Finish it off. Alas, that wouldn't make money would it P.s Gotta admire the non historical aspect of it. Doesn't the Iowa and the like use the same 127 mm secondary guns? yet these has what, further reaching atomic shells? -
I don't think that guy has a clue who he is talking to regarding CV play.... Anyhoo...Glad they took less reserves off the Midway as it sounds less mad than having 100 reserves left so thumbs up 2-3-3 has been working completely fine (78% WR) IMHO and also IMHO the Haku was, is and still will be better than the Midway. Now they give it 3-3-2? That's.....Amazing. I didn't struggle with 2 fighters and now your giving me a 3rd for good measure...I'll take that thanks. Having 3 IJN denial fighters in the air at once will cause alot of pain for the Midway player. I think i will miss the extra bomber tho and i personally found it very handy, but then again i never used the 2-3-2 set up (too like the Tahio for my tastes). So why have WG done this? Like the Midway reserve nerf which i still don't get? Giving Haku MORE air d ontop the better strike potential it already has...Confused.

Forgot to say that some people just don't like higher tier games because of the style of play. And i really don't blame them most of the time (camping for the night). Game in Hindy yesterday and i don't think a single BB moved further than 2 lines the while game. German BB's included. Lower tiers are more....Dynamic
