    which DD line to choose? DD questions

    IMHO the fact of the matter is that they are all really usable and you can fire them off well within your Concealment range. What else do you really need? Longer the range, the more chance you will miss in my books. If torp range is the biggest factor then pick the IJN line. They are mostly torp boats. But if you want an all round DD then i would say the US line is better. I bump into a IJN DD tier for tier and i'm nearly always going to be the one that comes back out alive, that's a big factor for me. Alot better AA and when spec is very nasty. Great if Div with a CV player. Can see the Russian DD first so keep distance and let the team take care of him half the time and spot him up, if not always a good scrap Like i said that just my limited experience so far, but happy with my choice. Go with what style you wanna play and have fun with. If torps flick your switch then IJN all the way. German DD's as far as i know take experience and time to get used to (so i've heard from my Clan mates). Can see me loving the Fletcher and that my main goal from the start.

    Russian Cruiser Line

    Hindy is my Clan battle Ship as I cant play CV's (thank you WG) It's fantastic. Cant speak highly enough of it. It's such a great multi purpose Ship and take any task assigned to it. Good AA, Good guns, Good Concealment, good torps, good hydro, good HP, good armour Works best as a close flanker (Zoa being a open flanker). Fast firing, hard hitting AP shells into broadside have won me many a game. Push a Cap? Sure, hydro on and load salt and pepper, use that sweet turtleback armour. Push a flank? Sure, Load AP and hit things on broadsides every 8 secs with 12 shells a time Push a BB? Sure, load HE and angle and use that turtle back armour. Get in real close and torp him to death. Or just fire AP shells into the flanks. Kite a BB? Sure, Load HE and make his life a misery every 8 Secs at max range (even with spotter plane). Love the accuracy and speed of the shells. Against other Cruisers it depends on what you are up against, but you are the Swiss army knife off the CA world and have the tools to go against any of them IF YOU PLAY YOUR GAME, NOT HIS. Few tips: 1) Don't keep at range for too long. Turtleback armour wont save you from that distance against BB shells. WASD is life. 2) Don't hard push a Des Mons head on from range. He will kill you before you get there with those fast firing HE shells. Get around him or use that island he is normally next to for cover. Then spring up on him a torp the living s**** out of him. Or ram him 3) Don't out kite a Zao. He will win with heaver HE shells in the end, just. Go invis a fight again when the time is right (Closer). 4) Your not a Mino and cant turn like one. Pick the right time to turn as its slow to turn around, not too bad (compared to the Moskva) 5) AP shells are flimsy. Fantastic if perfect broadside, tonk on anything else. Always swap to HE if unsure. If you loved the Roon you will be in awe with the Hindy. Think of the roon with an extra set of guns on the front to use. Although i can see the Donsky being my new tier 9 keeper? maybe? We will see.

    I cant play DD's to save my life mate and is by-far my worst line. There is something that just don't click with them and from the very start of the battle I feel like a fish out of water. But started to play them more because why not ay? Choose The US DD line. They are the most forgiving and user friendly IMHO. Good guns and good torps. I was pleasantly surprised with the ships and my Winrate and damage/XP in some of them (like the Nicholas) and is far better than I ever expected. Still not great like some players I know and Div with (By far) but good for my standards. Got to the Kiev (pre line change) on the Russian line but it didn't teach me how to really play DD's. Their like corvettes with the concealment to match. They teach you little regarding actual DD play i found. Cant go wrong with the US DD line. You can put up a good scrap with any DD you come into contact with, invis sink BBs and give Cruisers a run for their money. IMHO. Alot better DD players out there so take my advise with a pinch of salt.

    Russian Cruiser Line

    They are a one trick pony at the moment. You stay at range and peck things to death. The only keeper so far (at the stock Chappy) is the Buddy. Only because it's a German Cruiser under that paintwork and can actually take a hit. The biggest problem for me was bringing the German Cruiser mentality to the Russian line. Don't. They cant take a hit whatsoever and angling does not apply in the Kirov, Shchors and Chappy. The Buddy was great and left that bad-boy with a 88% winrate. That's only because i played i like a German CA. Went back to the Shchors and was in for a massive shock. You have to be a better marksman and learn how to lead and hit targets at range. Range is life. If you struggle with this then your gonna find the line both hard and frustrating. I find it hard to carry games in these things and the shells are IMHO crap. That's with IFHE and DE. But, they are good at starting fires and are generally fast firing so that's something. Death by a thousand cuts/fire kinda thing. Many a times i would hit a BB full savlo and get hardly anything for my troubles. Do the same in the York or Hipper and 4000 HP wiped off. The shells also love to shatter on anything. But, they are better than the NO and Cola tier for tier IMHO as they too cant take a hit, but at least you can pepper them at longer range and have better accuracy with the Shchors and Chappy. I don't know if I enjoy the style of them to be honest. it Feels like I can do a number of things in German CA ships and adapt to any situation. I'm alot more restricted in these Russian ones. But there better than the Cola and NO so that's a bonus List of Keeper cruisers so far: Tier 4: Danae, only played few games in it but funny little ship Tier 5: Used to be the Konigsberg until they completely nerfed the shells (WHY!). Furutaka is a great ship and my tier keeper now. Tier 6: Used to LOVE the Cleveland and still my most played ship to date many moons ago. But nerfed and power creeped over the years so the Buddy is my new keeper at that tier. Tier 7: Belfast. Hated the Cola so much. Tier 8: Kuts (before nerf) and now the Hipper with the better reload and rudder. But always enjoyed it in the first place. Very average and i kinda liked that. Tier 9: Roon Tier 10: Hindy

    Stalingrad the most TROLL OP ship ever

    Only seen one so far and it was on the other side of the map. We won, but i think he was the last enemy ship still afloat. People were commenting in the text box that it "took a pounding" or words to that effect. From the mini map it looked like he was island hugging (protecting his side). As long as it's got that long oh-so-nice side like the Mosk and god awful concealment, then i'm fine with it.

    Midway vs. Hakuryu

    Chap, That's isn't a great way to get some feedback comments by telling people that might have another opinion to shut up before they have said anything. Just a tip. But.....I agree with the Hak being better. The Midway is a capable ship, but you want the best Ship for KOTS then the Hak is a better choice. Simply more flexible. They need people to grind ships and lines, that's where they make their money. So they change the ships that people already have and make the lines that people don't play better. It forces/suggests people to play the new lines and £££. Simple as that. I bet you will start grinding the Hak now wont you? Working as intended. They buffed the Midway to the highest point since Closed and then....Wack! They nerf hammer it. But it made a hell of alot of people grind the line to get it I've said this before but Games Workshop are notorious for this business model. If your not selling something, make it better than the one everyone has already got. WG know what they are doing. It would take a few good CV players a day to balance the US/IJN CV line but it has taken WG years? Always a reason.

    Monstrosity AA. One went solo yesterday and sent 3 waves of torps planes in for damage (Tahio). He killed every single one of them with 2 Torps going into the water, 1 hit The power of tier 10 AA on show. He didn't even need a AA cruiser with him, just do it his self.
  8. Its just another game mode at the end of the day and it's something else for players to play, which is a good thing. But it's just not my cup of tea The kids, wife and job stresses me out enough to be fair. How about Div Ranked? Just popped into my head and haven't given it one bit of thought so fire away. But 2 Div teams in each team would help the team play side a bit? Maybe? Its linked to the post because by the look of the poll, the majority of players don't play ranked because the teamwork is shocking. Thoughts?
  9. And the 3 lost was: Game 1 (Alabama) AFK DD in a 1 DD per side game. lost Game 2 (Enterprise) 30 secs left in the game 2 (us) v 1. All the DD had to do was not fire a shot, just stay invisible that was it, simple........He fired and got sunk by the Bismarck. Muppet and lost. Game 3 (Alabama) They simply had the better team i think. So two were caused by AFK and the average player in ranked. The ones that were won were mostly due to my Average dam of 87,627, Exp 1,977, win/lose of 22/1 and being stressed during each game!!! And i really am an above average player, nothing special at all. All our AFK players and "W" only button players just had to do was turn up gets a free lunch ticket..I don't think so fella. I might win 10/10 games but that doesn't mean it's both fair and/or fun. Getting pistol whipped by a CV when yours is AFK is not fun at all and instead of feeling good after a win it's rather melancholic. It matters a hell of alot more in Ranked because of less ships. I just wanna get some free flags and stop at rank 10 like i always do (really)
  10. Oh, for the recorded i have seen more AFK players in 10 games in ranked than i have in Random in 50 games. Twice i have dragged these "players" through and they didn't even have to touch the mouse. Is that fair? The others were against and where annihilated. One was an enemy cv (Graf) with myself in the Enterprise.... I showed no mercy what-so-ever with 3 bismarcks in the enemy team. Is that fair? Nope.
  11. There are lots to be honest but the main two for me is: 1) I am tied of dragging corpses over the finishing line. Those that don't deserve it but get though anyway because 1 or 2 players play like a man possessed. 2) I am tied of doing all the hard work and see other players throw it away for no reason what-so-ever. It's not fun, it's stressful and not in a good way. Clans battles is stressful but in a good way.

    Thanks mate for your honest opinion Just bare in mind that other players enjoy the RTS side of things in WOWS so all that boiled down to personal choice. But your point is valid as it simply might be that i'm in the minority and your the majority. The majority pays the bills at the end of the day so fair cop. Lets see what they do then. I too hope they don't dumb it down. Cheers

Truly interested to hear what you think Do you think it's enough to change the whole layout of CV play because you don't like the RTS style? Hope you can answer honestly and don't have a hidden agenda like many players do.

Is it: 1) Need more practice 2) Just don't like the style of play 3) Don't like the look (Birdseye) 4) Not good at muti tasking 5) all of the above I am diabolical in a DD. You stick me in a DD and i struggle to know which way to go never mind win the game. My long range torp aim is bad, i cant think like the other player like i can in a CV and i make the wrong decisions all the time. I feel like a fish out of water, doesn't feel natural. But i'm not saying that i wanna change the way it's played because i personally cant play them? The reasons i'm not good in DD's is simply that i don't have: 1) killer instinct that comes more naturally to me in the other 3 classes. 2) Don't enjoy the style of play. If i really wanted to get better I would and could but ill be ice skating up the hill from the start as i simply don't enjoy them as much. But i understand that others do and are very good at it. So why don't people think the same way about CV's? I just don't understand it. Ok...... Now if i remove everything I know about CV play and that i too cant play CV's them then only 3 things spring to mind to why i wouldn't like it: 1) I don't like the style of play (like the DD's) 2) I don't like the View 3) I find them too hard to be good in them If it's 1) then fine, pick another Ship line to grind. Like i do. If it's 2) then fine. If you chaps are telling me that 3/4 players who play this game feels the same way then WG has to and will do something. It's a Money making game at the end of the day and if the majority of people say they don't like it then fine. I will tip my hat and say " well i like the way it is but understand that 3/4 don't so fair cop". But Art in WOT is different and hasn't changed the view since it began BUT...If if it's 3) then simply get gud and learn to play them like any other class, like i have to in DD's. My gut instinct says that people just don't like muti tasking and don't wanna learn how to play the class, period.
  16. It's not retarded in the slightest, it's an effective and fun build and their isn't many of them left that can have Both is there? Its the only ship I have in port that is fully, IFHE included, secondary build and it melts things. You know all those bow-on camping BB tier 10 mega that goes on? Well it's great to be able to pen them at 11.5 with secondaries only. Cruisers melt even faster. What do you expect throwing penning shell's out every 2.4 seconds. Easy 80+ damage when the match turns into a brawl and that's the secondaries only. But like we all know you give up tankyness and long range campy fights at tier 10 and if you push alone or too early then your toast. But when the time is right or a lonely BB thinks he's safe then you steam to him and smash him up. Many times I use the secondary fire to kill one ship whilst the main guns are killing something else, you can multitask better and deal with 2 sets of targets I love it but it's no for everyone. It's a pure fun build but extremely deadly when in range. It's getting there which is the problem in the high tier camping meta. Don't believe me? Give it a go yourself I'm sure people who come up against one will call it retarded, not the captain s fault tho.
  17. We are a Clan that enjoys a laugh and plays various games (WOT, Warhammer ect..) with WOWS being the top one at the moment. Team-speak is like the UN meeting as we have some good lads and lassies from all sorts of places. I could go on about how good the clan is and blabla but you know the score. It's a laugh and enjoy Clan battles in a relaxed atmosphere. You can play solo, Div or Clan when you please. We are always happy to help anyone grind any line with any ship (just not the Penscola). Requirements to join us: - Minimum age limit of 17 years old ( exceptions can be made ) - Must have a working microphone (no comms, no bombs) -Team-Speak channel - Not part of another clan/community/group that supports the same games as us. Other than that everyone is welcome in our community - Win rate above 48%. I know that SOLO warriors don't always have great Win Rates than those that DIV all day, everyday. Would really help if you have at least one tier 10 ship but will help people get there with a tier 8-9 one instead. We truly believe in building foundations. I was a Solo warrior for a while but i'm glad I joined as i've met some....Interesting people Look up Redcap375 in game chat or reply, looking forward to seeing you.

    They will without a shadow of a doubt dumb it down chaps. They have said words to that effect all along including Clan battles when they thought the skill gap is too big. Only way in their eyes to bring it level will be to dumb it down somehow. They started with tier 4-5 CV's anyway which has always been dodgy in my books (like i said back then). Am i worried? Yes and No. I'm worried that i might not play CV's again IF i know that all those skills, tricks and knowledge we all learn doesn't matter a jot because it's easy mode anyway with little skill involved. I would not play CV's now if they only had auto mode with no manual aim or strafe. But people are afrade of change. I'm not and will greet the change with open arms...But that's not to say i'm not going to tell the chap "No thanks, ill play this instead". Lets just see what they do. Our opinions matter not. You know what, it's like we are the victim of our own success.
  19. I have no interest grinding either the Iowa or Montana. It's simply not my style of play at all. I wanna grind to ships that i fear and i don't fear the Iowa/Montana when i'm burning it to death, torping it or catching it broadside.. I fear the GK if it gets in close. I fear the Conq firestarter ability and i fear the damage the Yam shells can do from range regardless of angle, I fear the radar on the Missouri but the Iowa/Montana? Not really, it''s too predictable IMHO. I will grind it sometime but it's way down on my list at the moment. But the Montana shins in Clan Battles because of it's concealment and damage it can inflict on cruisers from nowhere. But that's fine when you have one BB and a static front line which Clan Battles are.

Love the two trains of thought on how to play the Missouri One side says push The other says stay back and lob heavy shells I can only speak for the Alabama but simply put, i want a Chappy in the distance, NC/Amargi behind me, a Hipper besides me and a DD and RN in front of me. That's where i like to be. Enough to be seen and absorb hits, enough to be seen and give people pause to commit but not too close to be focus fired/torped at the start of the battle. My thought is a BB there there to take hits for the rest of the team. Not to push and get killed quickly nor to snip at distance and not use that HP at all. How many times have we seen 2 full heath BB at the end of the game when it's too late because they enemy team has already obliterated the cruisers and destroyers? A focused BB is toast, people don't learn this enough i'm afrade. They need to be there to take hits but not always in push mode unless the tide is right. One of the biggest things that really gets on my wick is ships like Tirp and Bismarck's that snipe at the back!!!! Or a NC contesting a cap on his own. I kid you not chaps but i once had a KII personally escort my CV on the edge of the map!!!!! "thanks for the extra AA chap but.....HOW ABOUT YOU MOVE!!!!" I'm the cruisers big brother and will get boot stomped in order for him to survive and cause lots of that fast DPM and fire damage. I need my smaller brother to deal with the trivial things that i can not afford to be dealing with (DD's). If people don't like getting hit in games then Battleships are not for them. Sometimes all that tanking comes to nothing as your team are full of....Not-so-good chaps that don't take advantage of your god like tanking ability. But most games are won by you taking damage and not your cruisers. Might be a little off topic but both tactics are viable as long as your taking hits, that the most important thing for the team. IMHO God i like the GK, prime example of tanking at its finest Wish i had a £ every time i held a whole flank in that thing whilst the team catches their fleet broadside. Unlike a Montana and the Yam, this thing is hard to flank with a secondary build of 11.6 km IFHE death.

    This ^^ Grinding the line at the moment as we need more Moskva ships in the clan. Its a stay at range, move all the time and spam stuff kinda play, but don't get hit, please don't get hit. Its been alright so far but it's not the ships you can relay on to win games on their own. The damage is also Meh and that's with IFHE. I took me time to get used to their style of play and was far too aggressive in them at the start. i just finished the whole German Cruiser grind at the time and kept it's mentality which didn't go well at all.
  22. I'm I the only one but does tier 9 seems to be the ugly ducklings of WOWS. I mean the only tier 9 ships I have kept to-date is the Tahio and Lion....That's it. And I will sell that Lion when i get the Conq as the accuracy is so unpredictable and a fire cruiser can do it better. I am very rarely placed top tier in a tier 9 ship. More often than not you are in tier 10 battles. Tier 10 ships do it better and so do some tier 8 ones Why keep the Roon when the Hindy is a monster? Why keep the Freddy when you have the Bismarck below and the GK above? Why Keep the Izu when you have the Yam above and the Amagi Below? Why Keep the Lion when you have the Conq above and the......Ok the Lion is alot better than the Monarch Why Keep the Iowa when you have the NC below and the Montana above? I cant speak for the DD's so maybe you chaps can shed some light on that. The only other 2 ships i would think about keeping is the French Alc and the Fetcher. I'm crap in DD's so the fletcher is a long way off but alot of clan mates say it better than the gearing pound for pound. So only 3 tier 9 Ships in the whole game i would really want to keep. Less than any-other tier (apart from 2-3) But I suppose if you personally enjoy a ship and the way it plays then i am sure you will keep it but for me only 3 spring to mind. Roon was interesting but the Hindy does it better.

    1. Well put it this way, in WOWS anything can damage anything. In WOT some tanks just simply can not hurt the others even in it's same tier or 1+, god forbid 2+, unless you pay for APCR rounds. But even then some cant pen. WOWS doesn't have this sickening money making system thank god and long may it reign. A tier 5 DD can sink a tier 10 BB if he wants to. A tier 5 tank, even a TD has no hope in hell even penning a tier 10 tank. So if the two are left at the end of the game, you lose. Those will never meet MM wise but it's a problem in the game MM (my SU 122 44 cant pen alot of the tier 9 tanks). My tier 8 Alabama can kick the tier 10's Montana's head in if given the chance. I can damage him regardless of which way he is facing or what he is doing. Imagine chaps that when you fire those shells they don't do anything to him.....Nothing.....Zip. That's what WOT feels like. That never happens in this game because of IHFE (which is free, no APCR), fires and silver fishes. 2. Its a different game than Navy Fields so it's got different ways of doing things. For better or worse. WG had made it like it is with some changing of hulls and the like but no independent things like swapping AA guns or torp for instance. It's not skyrim. It's just the way it is just like WOT? Would be interesting tho 3. Please see comment 2. 4. How you can prefer WOT crew skills so so beyond me, but it's your opinion at the end of the day. It takes you 10 games (Max) in WOWS to get a 1 point skill (PT). That same skill would take you AGES (6th Sence) in WOT. I'm talking a long long long time. A driver in a premium tank, with premium time, shooting premium APCR rounds and has 2 x 100% skills for each crew member has such a broken advantage over a silver line peasant player is comical. It's Like shooting crippled ducks in a tea cup with a shotgun like i put it in the WOT forum. In WOWS you still have Premium Ships of course and skills but not nearly as much as in WOT (APCR and muti skills and % for the crews). Crew Skills are less effective and much easier to obtain in WOWS. Take concealment for example. WOWS You have 2 types of concealment extras so to speak. One you earn with simply buy with Silver (MOD) and the other is a not so hard achievable captain skill 5. SO against another ship the player might have an advantage but its more likely that the other player has the same. It's simply easier to be equal IN WOWS (Skill of the player aside). I can still use some skills if i'm not 100%. WOT I buy a new and tank and crew. 50% on all crew to start so before i even THINK about cammo or any skill i need to get them up to 100%, or 110% for the commander. By that time I have already got 10 points to put on my WOWS captain and have max cammo. Then there is the skills themselves, which raise very slightly. With a silver account is takes an unbelievable amount of time to achieve full 100%. In WOWS you can get a skill ten games in. So during my poor 50% crew grind i am against players with 100% Max cammo on each of their crew, 100% crew in general (Which increases EVERTHING, from aim time, reload and accuracy.) and loading APCR rounds. Imagine if they gave departments on ships the ability to increase their accuracy, re-load time and concealment rating. You stick that in a Belfast with a unicom player and what do you end up with? More dead ducks. People who prefer the WOT skills are the same people who have everything max which gives them such an advantage over their pray it's crazy talk. Those that play this game can only dream of seal clubbing like they do. I would never want it be be like that, period. WOT is the finest WG example of PWT. I truly believe they learnt alot of things from WOT and implemented them into WOWS. They havnt bothered with the state of WOT because it's the main money maker and a blind man can see why. But those that like tank games will play it, like i do, but i know what to expect. Some kids don't and spend lots and lots of money to be able to cope and try to be equal. I'm glad you think the game is better. But IMHO WOT has gota hell of alot worse which is such a shame. I'm playing WOT at the moment because my clan mates do and it's alright if you take it for what it is. It's fun don't get me wrong and WOWS has it's own problems. But not being able to even hurt other tanks in the game unless you ££££buy$$$ is simply wrong at a foundation level.
