Always wanted the HMS Hood, but had/have quite a few tier 7 favorites so never got round to getting it. Didn't seem to standout for me to buy it back then and I already had a Battlecruiser in the Sharn. But my regular Div mate enjoys the ship. It can take a beating, a real beating and demolishes cruisers (like all good Battlecruisers do). It's AA is very good when spec, but good CV players know this and torp from range and don't use bomber on it (well, the good CV players anyway) as it has short/medium range AA really. I think I would enjoy the play style as it can keep up with the cruisers and take some punishment on their behalf. AP against other BBs isn't great but it is a Battlecruiser after all. Might get it if it's on sale.

Disagree is cool. Although I would call blowing up a cruiser at the start in 1-2 savlos a pretty good impact? Or simply blowing a DD out the water with AP? Or downing all the planes the enemy CV has? Or maybe simply using radar and hydro to spot and dodge torps? Or see that poor bow-on Des, yeah eat these Yam or Republic shells....Couldn't careless if your angled, your eating pure damage.... Now, can a cruiser do that? Kill a Yam with 2 salvos? By the time you have set fires, your eating raw damage straight thought your angled ship. Yeah, of all the classes I've played the BB is by far the easiest to both play and get to grips with. Miss is a perfect example of a ship that can do nearly everything and it's a BB. Melts planes, spots DD's, crucifies cruisers and give a great account against other BB's... And this is the kicker. A lot have the same or even better concealment than actual cruisers . So that Hindy didn't even see it coming from my AP shells in the Conq. 3 cits, nice one. No mate, IMHO BB's ARE the easiest to play.

Or they do what this Kurf just did in my last game. Sail at the back and snipe.....THE WHOLE GAME. Last one in our team standing with a loss of 700 HP. Not to mention the Alabama that did the same thing (2 div mates)! I mean what the flying F***. Whats more is that the guys thought it was alright to do so????? Wow, just wow. both sides flamed them which doesn't happen that often. This game is seriously losing it's way. Not the players fault, but WG.

Completely agree

You could say that about ALL classes, not just Battleships though . Try it. Of all the classes, Battleships is the easiest to master IMHO. That's not saying their brain-dead but compared to a CV or DD they don't come close. They are so forgiving in a number of different ways (i'm sure you don't want me to number them all). Games where a bad position will get you killed (cruisers) or even if your angled will get you killed (Yam vs Bow-on Des). Or walking on egg shells with all the gimmicks we now have and cardboard Armour (DDs) to crazy AA and micromanage salty flaming hell (CV's). With Battleships being my most played line, I can safely say that BB's are the easiest to play and most noob friendly. Basically the skill ceiling is the lowest of all classes. I don't think many would disagree with that if they were being honest. This isn't meant to be a BB bashing thread as all classes have there fair share of:
-
They fail to understand what their ship is designed for. Not just a BB problem. However, BB's draw in more casual players as they are more forgiving.
-
Not sure I understand what your saying chap, you've lost me...? As for Battleship players complains? Well IMHO: Far too many of them camp. Now, there is alot an alleged reasons why they do this but i personally think it's a mix of everything. Inexperience Not knowing your ship class and what they are designed for HE spam Invis Torps They camp and lob shells from a distance and in alot of the games so it's the Cruisers that end up taking all the flack and tanking the actual damage. Not all the time obviously but more and more. You can tell a Good BB players from the first 2 mins. Where he is going, who hes going to support and why. You see new/causal players just see the Battleship as big big guns and forget about all that HP it has. HP needed to help the rest of team and absorb damage. How many games have we all seen where the only ships left are 2-3 BB with full health? Soon to get sunk one by one by concentrated enemy fire. Something of which wouldn't have happened as much at the start/middle of the game. And i want to punch the computer scene every time time a see a noob Tirp player sniping at the back thought out the whole game, as i'm getting passes around like a peace-pipe in my cardboard cruiser trying to hold the whole flank by myself. As a fellow BB player there is a time to snip and a time to man up and get stuck in. By-the-way Battleships are the easiest class to play by far in this game. But with the amount of fast firing long range HE spamming cruisers at high tiers, i understand why casual players don't wanna always get involved with a brawl. Getting HE spammed to death is one thing, being invis torp at 10+ km is another. This is too much for casual players to put up with, so they simply stay at the back, which isnt good for the game as a whole. Anyway, it's a DD thread not a BB one. All this goes thought stages, Like when CV's were played even less than they are now (Before midway buff) or when you hardly saw a cruiser a year back?

WOWS in 1 years time and i wish i was joking. -
100%. Why ask? Sure that's common knowledge.

I mean do you think Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto said to his chaps "forget about the CV's and BB's at pearl, sink the DD's instead"
-
I completely agree but it's been like a Tom and Jerry Cartoon for a while now. Lets not kid ourselves here chaps, dd players are having a S*** time at the moment, really. Planes, Hyrdo, Radar, cruisers, Radar + cruisers, new DD hunter killers DD's ect..I am surprised that there is that many DD players to be honest. Noob DD players are currently getting whacked in recorded braking time. The trouble is that DD's win games and those that lose most dds first, lose, well from my experience that is. However, I do agree that more DD's encourage BB's to camp, that and HE spam. No one wants to push into walls of Invis torps. As soon as the enemy DD's are killed at the start, the teams are more inclined to push during the match. Scrap that, they normally DO push. What do you think my first targets are as a CV player? Crap but true..How is that not Tom and Jerry?

And how many players spent money to get that then......Hummm. we will never know will we (my guess.....Alot). Putting clans at tier 10 and ranked at tier 10 after tier 8 is ALSO a cash-grab. You wanna play in these games? Then ££££££££ Free XP because do you think the average Joe player can save that much free XP, without premium too? It's all designed for you to spend money. There not end game content. You seem like an intelligent chap so i'm sure you understand how companies like this work.- 31 replies

What? Fun is subjective. I find playing CV's FUN... I also find watching rugby FUN. dear god, my first thought was to say "That's your problem" but you have the same mentality of most casual players so I won't. Another person who wants his cake and eat it. "Who specs for AA these days?" and you wonder why people get slammed by CV's. It's truly unbelievable. Alot of ships don't even NEED spec because defensive AA comes for free and STILL people complain. Do you think i have a problem when playing against CV's in my Battleships, which by-the-way is my most played class? NOT AT ALL, Let me see: Sharn; 29 planes Alabama: 36 planes FdG: 30 planes Gne: 42 planes NC: 31 planes Conq: 21 planes Texas: 32 planes Lion: 47 planes Does even half spec any of these make me a crap player because I forgo skills like FP instead? Or SI? or equipping AA range on ships with already good aim and stigma? No. Still manage to achieve a 58%WR with 60% in BB's. Wont even go into cruisers like my Cleveland with an eye watering 54 planes, or my Atlanta or even a simple Hipper. *sigh*....No other set of skills (AA wise) can hard deny a class in the whole game so much as AA can. What it gives you is peace of mind when seeing a CV on the enemy team. It also helps my team in the process. Remember, even though this word is long gone in randoms, but TEAMWORK actually wins games. Do one thing for me. Play a single 8 vs 8 tier 8 Clan battle with a CV then tell me how effective CV's are when half if not all the enemy team is AA spec INCLUDING DD's. It will make you rage quit like nothing else in the game. If you pick the Tirps then expect planes. If you pick the Yam/Muss then expect planes. If you choice a IJN DD then defanly expect planes. You pick a ship that you damn right know has crap/sub par AA and pressed the "Battle" button you knew that a CV would be a nightmare. That is a choice we all make when going into battle. I know full well the consequences of seeing a Yam against me in my Des Mons, fills me with dread. But i KNOW that fact and take it on the chin. But I also know that "planes" won't be a problem at all. Too many people want their ships to do everything.

You wont know why it's dying because you haven't got a tier 6+ CV and have had more than 34 game in them. I mean come on fella. How is anyone gonna take you seriously talking about CV's when you don't play them yourself? I bet my mortgage that your the kinda player that doesnt even Spec anything into AA what-so-ever or pick ships that are renound to have bad AA from the start. I even bet your a IJN and/or German DD player too?

Precisely They could have done 110 things but they didn't. They simply didn't. Mainly because of:

Cant help but agree. 3 ships you think of when talking about the RN. HMS HOOD, HMS NELSON and a Tribal destroyer. Guess what? All of them are premium ships. It's a cash grab and I think people are extremely naive to think otherwise, but honestly remember:- 31 replies

But it's working for WG. So how do they manage to sell the Massachusetts? Or the Tirps? Both are slight variations of their sister ships and they are sold in their droves. I know people with both the Alabama AND the Massachusetts. People brought the Massachusetts because they wanted secondaries on the NC. I know it's not a NC class, but to the causal players they don't care. If they brought out a Secondary Spec Yam people would gobble it up or a Torp boat Conq- 31 replies

Get this one. I've been torp by my own DD for no reason what-so-ever in my Kaga! Only to find out that the guy was apart of the Clan on the opposite team. He then sailed in a straight line and got blapped by technically his own team. Their CV had complete control for the whole game. Thank god that's only happened once because that's worth prison time pulling S**** like that.

My thoughts too.

So like i said and the OP asked, don't Secondary spec the Amagi The only time that cruiser who somehow manages to get lost and wonders into your 8 km range will shows his broadside, is when your about to eat torps. The rest of the AP is harmlessly bouncing off his bow. That bow on BB infront of you? Yeah more bounces where HE would be at least setting it on fire. Against ships like the Kurfurst and Mass then regardless if the cruiser is angled, it's eating 11.6 km worth of HE pen death from every single one of his secondaries that's not even including fires. Hey if you wanna have some fun then by all means secondary spec it. The Kurfust, Sharn, Bis ect are all fun builds but they have more reasons to have a secondary build (1/4 on some) than the Amagi. I'm not saying it wont work but for them to shine you need the enemy to do some of the most stupid things on earth. You do not want this ship near a brawl if you can help it. It goes against everything the ship is good at which is lobbing accurate very hard hitting shells (eye watering so) from a distance. Of all the tier 8 Battleships, this one would be expected to be in the rear with the gear. HE is the secondary weapon of choice, not AP. It's more reliable to more ships.
-
Lets be honest here. The shimmy ONLY has it's torps going for it at the moment. If any DD has fell from grace, that one has. The Worcester still has it's "tanky for a light cruiser" troll armour, Fast rate of fire that shreds dd's, Over-the-hill daka daka you cant see me, AA of CV death and consumables coming out of it's ears.....The Shimmy has torps. Of all the Tier 10 cruisers, i find this the hardest to Cit when full broadside (Henry close second) Not bad for a light cruiser. It was only a matter of time before they swung the nerf bat at it, just like the Conq. Hanu will be next.

"The range of the Surveillance Radar has been reduced from 9.45 and 9.9 km to 9 km for both ships. The main reason for the changes is that these cruisers, which have a significant difference between the radius of visibility and the range of the Surveillance Radar, are extremely effective hunters of destroyers. Taking into account the presence of HE shells and rapid reload, a destroyer caught in the radius of the consumable, practically loses any chance to leave the area, and is likely to be sunk. The decreasing of the radius of Detection range all the same will leave Seattle and Worcester decent fighters, but will give a chance to the destroyer to take evasive action, spot the ship ahead of him, and to get away from the area of the Surveillance Radar." No S*** WG, how did you not see that one coming Because we all did. But i suppose GG WG for correcting something that we all knew was a problem to begin with.
