    Well that's the beauty of these mods isnt it? Games where you wish you had that range to touch that poor Moskva broadside and couldn't because of the less range. Or that Hindy tanking into you and wishing you had that last volley of shells with reload. I think for this ship in question it's not a GIVEN like say the Yam LMod is. It's a simple choice with neither being right or wrong. I personally like to play within 20Km range so naturally the reload is my preferred choice. It's not right or wrong nor is it a given, but my personal choice. I good clan mate of mine plays the Hindy to the same standards as i do. He swears by the LMod but i simply don't like giving up the Concealment to do it.

    Damage alone does not win games. It took me longer than it should to figger that one out, but many still play like it does. (Not aimed at anyone in here by-the-way) Just an "eureka" moment that i had whilst play this game. I could play a game in a CV and DD without firing a single shot and still effect the outcome alot more than if i did 150000+ damage in my Republic.

    Well I think it is quite standard. If you factor in different mods used, captains skills with tweaking, yeah. Maybe i should have said by my standards 3rd game went for a AA spec with CV div. It's a monster but doesn't help your damage. Even though i quickly shot down 4 and they didn't come back again. Lol. Plus you are by far the more experienced BB player which makes up for 50% of all your games compered to my what, 30%? Which is cool.

    Wait until you get the republic mate. See that bow-on Des? Yeah hes gonna feel some pain. And i know what it feels like being on the receiving end of it. I hate Republics and Yams with a passion, even when i'm play them (well Republic anyway). Like when i'm getting dropped by a Kaga in my Julio, nothing i can do about it.

    I agree. It also encourages the player to use all that range which turns the game into camp-fest and cruisers end up tanking more than the actual bloody Battleships. Why it always the Yam or Bis that ends up being the last man standing with full health? Only to get smashed up in seconds by the triumphant enemy team Does my head-in.

    Could be wrong but "15 secs with half health" came up in conversation yesterday with a fellow clan mate when asking him how he spec it (and Captain skills) Will look tonight. I think just giving it a try would be the best thing. Always use reload in random when i play the Des and switch to range when playing clans. Might be kinda the same thing here. I personally think the republic is kinda "meh" at range. It shines within 20Km due to it's fast rate of fire, Fires starting secondaries and the ability to quickly get out of dodge with the turbo button. I have been very very susprised with its armour too. many a times i have been in the thick of it and got out alive. When ships like the Kurf (cant turn for S***), Yam (high cit) and Monty (cit again) wouldn't. It's still early doors yet and only had a handful of games in it. Mostly tweaking it at the moment (switched aim mod to secondary). Best to try all of them before setterling on a build. I do this with most ships. 7/10 wins with 70000 avg damage which is about normal for new ships that you tweek. It's it's ability to really punish cruisers, however they angle, which is the key for this thing.

    Funny this came up as i finished the grind yesterday and was thinking about it. Finding the Republique an interesting ship with it's fast reload and battlecrusier play style. I quite like it to be honest even though i do miss having more guns forward. I always find myself under 20 Km so the extra re-load is appealing. Oh and it's secondaries are quite effective, even when not fully spec. As i have Jean as captain and AR + Reload mod i can get it down to 15 secs when half health? So firing very heavy shells every 13.5 secs is mouth watering. I try not to be another "sit and the back a snipe" battleship. Too many of them at high tiers, including the infux of LMod Yams that are now knocking around.

    But that, my friend, is the choice we all make. Captains skills are there for us to make choices. Some are nearly a given (AR) (CE) and some, like spec for AA or secondary are a choice. So you value FP, fine. How about you have that AND Manuel AA? Or AFT? Bringing some AA out to a further range (like the Conq with it's excellent short/med AA) is a god send. And no, spec a BB for AA doesnt mean instant deletion. My Alabama SHREDS planes of all tiers. 7.4 km of AA flags, AFT, BFT, Range MOD and Manuel AA is hell on earth. Does spec for AA make the ship crap? Course not. I'm still got a 62% WR in the worst MM tier in the game (8). tiers 8-9 still contain quite a few CV matches, alot more than tier 10 by less than tier 6-7. So it's a good investment. I mean some ships will always be AA pathtic (Shimmy, Musi ect) but most, when even half spec are quite potent. NOT ONE OTHER SET OF SKILLS (AA) IN THE GAME MAKE A SINGLE CLASS COMPLETELY REDUNDANT.

    My Lion and Alabama says otherwise (47 planes) . Not to mention Mino. Yeah, defensive AA only and all that jazz. I'll stop you there...You choose to select a ship that AP bombers will hound all game. By picking that said ship you knew what the consequences were regarding coming up against CV's and if they equip AP bombs. If CV's are such a balls then how about AA spec your ship? Have you tried it? Your FdG planes kills tell me that you don't. If you don't spec AA at all, then come to peace with it. Hint: I have 30 Planes in my FdG and it isnt even fully AA spec. Flags, AFT, BFT and 2 planes. So please don't tell me that this ship isn't capable of taking down planes. It's not gonna stop everything, but enough to make the CV player think again. especially tier 8-9 CV's. Wanna go full wack and really P*** CV captains off? AA mod and/or Manuel AA.
  10. Well i personally enjoyed it and was a breath of fresh air to be honest compared to tier 10. Though the final reward was somewhat of a let down, but didn't expect alot so fair enough. People were more inclined to get stuck in and had a right mix of people. Alot of -50% WR which was different because most threw caution to the wind and really got stuck in. Due to shorter everything, there was less camping overall which that alone, made me enjoy it compered the tier 10 snorefest that occurs regularly. I liked the fact that it included people that didn't have tier 10 ships and got more people involved at all levels. So it's a mostly for me. The biggest negative was the poor cruiser players. Due to the weight of BB's (3-4 per team) it made their life very difficult. Many-a-time I simply 1 salvo them right from the start or caused enough damage in one salvo that they just sailed around after that afrade to do anything. The lack of radar at that tier also caused problems regarding DD hunting. Really not a good tier for cruisers in general as they have less tools to do there real cruiser jobs with.

    Nope, not yesterday mate. In-fact I've hardly had any games on the test server yet (4). Been grinding and helping other clan mates grind too. Just got my spanking new Republic yesterday and took her out for a spin. Shes alright. @pra3y how you finding the re-work?

    Hopefully will. It makes me really sad that even the purple and distinguished owners of this ship cant even admit it. It's quite pathetic to be honest. Not one of them has said that it's OP and that it will have an effect on CB/KOTS. A blind man could see it coming. People always want an advantage and this ship gives them that. They will say anything to keep this ship as it is. No S*** mate. We saw this coming a mile off.

    Really enjoy this ship. It's a keeper for me. Punishes cruisers and is also a good firestarter with the amount of shells when shooting bow-on bbs. How you finding the republic? I had choice to grind the republic or Yam before clan and picked the republic. Which one do you find better? hope i made the right choice.

  19. That sounds so painful...And it will happen which is perfectly normal. I have all 4 of those ships. You can include 1/2 of the ships in the game easy. KIdd, DOY, Republic, Hood, anything with Defensive AA, Monty, Iowa, ect....I have 47 plane kills in my Lion for Pete sake. It's going to be a bloody mess until it calms down (if it does, but it will have to) But...If it increases the teamwork aspect of this game, which is practically dead at the moment, then it could be a good thing (thinking positively here).

    Good info chaps. My first real DD line i'm actually concentrating on grinding so any information regarding captain skills, RN DD tactics and Mods would be appreciated. At the Jarvis and it's quite a fun ship. Not bad so far.
  21. You learn, master your art, work well and hard in life and you will do well. You do the same in this game and they strip you down to everyone else level. Oh, i will still be as openly-minded as i can as I have all the CV's and want to continue to play them. RTS or this or whatever they bring out. But still being unbiased as i humanly can, this is still a massive dummed down version of CV play. Pure and simple. If that's what WG required to get people to play the line then fine, it's a short term win for them. It's farm ship damage and nothing else. No fighter skill involved, no real spotting, no helping your team from enemy fighters, NO SKILL OVER THE ENEMY CV WHATSOEVER. Because of the skill gap they striped this all down to what we have now which is pure ship damage. Aiming your torps like this and choosing where your planes are going to come out from does not constitute skill. Can you imagine that poor Shimmy that will be permanently hassled by 2 CV's (pilots) strafing him to death with rockets constantly? Things i could only dream of if i missed with my torp bombers and had to get back and reload. Now i can just stay above and murder him. It's a refreshing new style looks good which @tsounts points out and hes totally right, no doubt. But my this game-play gets boring very quickly. However, i understand that is aimed at the new generation where "looking cool" takes presents over actual game play and skill. Just like Films that look great but have awful story lines or bad acting. However, they still make alot of money and hence WG are doing the same. From a old skool gamer is quite sad to be honest but i understand where they are coming from at the same time.
  22. They don't want skill gap so no fighters to control im afraid. WG have already stated that most can't multitask so they need to keep it simple. Which we all know, this is. Greater graphics, lower gameplay. But that is what this day-and-age gamers want and are WG biggest customers.

  24. Can you imaging the shear amount of AA spec ships when this re-work hits the shelves? As there is currently alot of AA in the game as it is.
  25. It's turned into BATTLESTATIONS MIDWAY. And that game got boring very very quickly. My god they dumbed this down a hell of a lot. Stay optimistic Red.......Give it a chance.....
