    tier 7 carrier play is a joke

    SPOILER Counter Strafe it. That was always the golden egg regarding fighting a Saipan with anything. It's deadly because you get a full strafe behind them. So their SPEED is their weakness. You would overtake slower planes Of all my Game in the CV, very very very few actually tried to counter-strafe so being a Saipan player you didnt have to worry about it hardly ever. And only 10% more (lo) actually strafed in the first place.

    Don't think it was him but another muppet on our team. Smashing the voice buttons whilst doing nothing in his Mashi. Not firing a shot for 3 mins! Then proceeded to fire HE at everything, missing badly (i mean badly). I cant play another Random game on my own, too depressing. At least with 3 of you, you try and win the game. But how do players like that deserve to be pushed over the line? How do kids get ships like tier 9 premiums?

    This will completely make or break the game for me. 2 games have been destroyed with these (WarThunder and WOT). The StarlinGrad is one example of it happening. I fear that WOWS will be hit the same and time to move on. I hope it's not the case.

    Completely understand mate and i feel the same why. Shame that both of us, 2 longer members of this house have got to this point. The only reason i might keep the CV's is for the benefit of the Clan if they finally make an appearance in Clan Battles (will have all of them). If they don't then free XP and coin please as this new system is Boring and i cant be doing with all the salt that will in inbound.

    A navy game without CV's isn't really a true navy game is it? Lets be honest. I wish to clarify that i have never, never and never had a problem with CV's in this game and being killed by one has been in the absolute minority. That is a non bias opinion from someone that has played ALL the classes. The biggest problem that i have always said is people refuse to change their play when a CV is about and those that pick ships that know full well planes are going to be a problem. DD players hate CV's. It's build into your whole being. They take away that concealment that you live on and i dont blame you. However, it's your CHOICE that they picked a Ship that has crap AA. Even though i love my KIDD as it shred planes. @Ferry_25 may i be so bold and hope you don't take this to heart: Your 2 most played ships is the Tirps (650 games) and the Kamikaze (345 games)....2 ships that are well known in having pitiful AA. One even suffering from the full destructive force of AP bombs (Tirps). Basically your a sailing CV magnet and a DD that i will always try and keep spotted the whole game if i can in a CV. That's one of the pitfuls of playing DD. It's not just DD's that have this problems but other classes: BB's suffer from invis torps and CV's when not spec. CA's suffer from BB's CV's suffer from anything with Defensive AA or even AA spec BB's DD's suffer from radar AND CV's. Take my Hindy for example. I choose to have either Hydro or Defensive AA, that is a choice i have to make. However, I know that if i equip Defensive AA with something like AFT then i will not have to fear any CV i come into contact with. Not only that but i can support another ship in the process and prolong his life. Alas, other players don't and go with Hydro. That's not a bad choice if you play that sort of game but don't, and this is what does my head in, don't moan that you are getting smacked by CV's in the process (not aimed at you ferry, just players in general) WG has alot of faults, but they have gave us the tool to deal with CV's. It's up to the players to pick them. We cant all have our cake and eat it. @Ferry_25 how do you find planes in your Missouri or Atlanta (41 planes)? Probably the same as me in my Alabama, Cleveland, Gne, Lion ,Conq, Republic ect... 3/4 Battleships have the ability to wipe Planes out of the sky with 3 from the top of my head that can actually equip bloody defensive AA . It's up to the player to spec them that way, but don't complain when they don't. Did i mention even the DD's that can equip defensive AA But that's not good enough. People expect Ship to carry a batteries worth of Anti Aircraft guns. Even the new Grad has defensive AA and that's a battlecrusier! The new Russian BB line will my "make or brake" regarding this game. It's killed WarThunder stone dead and WOT is a sorry state with Russian tanks dominating the game with premium ammo. Anyway, It's all being changed as the vast majority (non CV players) wanted CV's to change in some form. What you have now though, is something ALOT worse and i cant help but feel smug about it. I know that sounds really childish but i truly do. If only people learnt/knew that what we currently have was so easy.

    Gameplay is now a joke

    1st game (Sharn) Lost 3 dds's in the first salvos of the game. That was that in my Sharn and totally bind. Lost 2nd game (Kaga) All our AA ships camped at the back completely out of the Cap and game with the BB's sailing to their deaths one by one with an enemy CV around. 3 Kills and the only one to do so. Lost That was yesterdays randoms games for me thank you. I don't enjoy randoms anymore and only really play this for Clans. Never used to be the case but it's getting worse and worse. There is no Teamplay anymore.

    Been doing that for 5 years and look where that has got us. It's a defeatist attitude which sucks, but a competly founded one. I really like the idea but it's not gonna happen because of £££££££££.

    It's very boring which you will see for yourself. The first few games are new and like "wow, graphics and puffs of black flack and stuff". But after 3-4 games, it gets boring very quick. Not "ill switch ships for a bit" kinda boring but "that's not for me thanks" kinda boring. Thing is, if they are finally in ClanBattles then my clan will require me to probably play the class as i have all but MIDWAY. But i wont enjoy it, that's the problem.

    Always the same. They simply don't listen, more so to the EU community. Russian tanks and premium ammo destroyed that game for me. It was EVEN worse in WarThunder. So forgive me chaps if WOWS bring out the new Russian Battleships doesn't fill me with confidence. Paper line too. But British CV's are coming out, such a shame it's on the new system which is utter S***. Would have loved to sail them the old fashion way.
  10. Russian stuff killed off WarThunder completely. Moved to Tanks. Russian tanks killed WOT stone dead. Moved to WOWS. So i am not looking forward to a line of not only Russian Battleships, but a paper line full of them.

    Well it's here chaps Might as well order your last drinks from the bar and go out on a high. I would personally like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread to give some really good advise to wannabe CV's captains. Most importantly, kept the content clean and troll free. Considering WG did NOTHING regarding tactics and how to play CV's, we did a good job with what we had. I hope this thread is still used in the future for the "new generation" of CV players on this new system. I personally, as i have always stated, found this new CV system incredibly boring. Tactics, skill and teamwork has been completely sucked out of CV gameplay. Basically, far too dumbed down for my tastes. But anyway, we all have our opinions. I think kids now-a-days expect different things (graphics over gameplay). And when this comes, the amount of salt that will be thrown around will be of an epic proportion. But we can all say "We, the CV players, told you so". Hope to see a few of you guys in your CV's in the last month.

    People think we just make this up. But all are entitled to their opinions. The Grad is the perfect ship to hit a Zao at long-rage. One inch of broadside given with those accurate auto bounce shells and WACK, half your health gone for a Ship with one of the lowest HP Pools in it's class. If i can do it in a Des, it's a walk in the park for a Grad with laser shells. Remember, the Zao fire rate isnt that far behind that of the Grad considering the weight of shell it has and captain skills/upgrades. Blindfire? Pushing up? Blindfire is last chance salon stuff that unless your a ship with high arcs and yourself invisible, ist the greatest thing to do if you value your concealment and not getting wacked in return. I like to fire my main guns when i KNOW i'm going to hit something. Risk (visible) vs reward (hitting the thing). Spam all you want from Invis but not all ships can do this alot of the time. Who needs to push up in a Grad? Most quite happy find an island to hug with an escape route and provide covering fire from across the map. You seen a 2 man Grad push from the safe cap? Very tough when they are spread out and catch those lovely auto shells on fleeing targets. Hope you have a DD on that side that can throw torps out, which very few do at that stage in the battle. Look, i'm not turning this into some kind of unstoppable monster that mincing everything it sees all the time, but it's negatives are nowhere near enough to balance this thing out. The Moskva can quite happy live with it's negatives and was a staple diet in Clan for sessions. The Grad is even more extreme but with the same flaws. However, those flaws are very easily hidden by the nature of the game. Longer fire duration? Great, relying not just on RNG but FIRE RNG with many skills to negate this, isnt a great way to kill something. That's luck more than anything. Longer reload? Bloody hope so with those guns, but not bad when you take AR and Reload Mod into consideration? Who would have thought WG would bring out a more tanker, harder hitting Moskva in their life time? That's me being naive again. There is a reason why ICHASE, FLAMU and JINGLES thinks it's an extremely strong (far too much one quoted). When enough people say their a fire, there normally is one. I am just so sad that the last bastion of silver ship only balance has now completely gone. The last sanctuary of equal based play where both casual and elite players can grab the same ships has evaporated, only to get worst with the introduction of even more new tier 10 Premiums (French and IJN). Randoms? Fine whatever, it's WG after-all and WOT lead the way on that one. People have worked hard for it and I understand why it's so powerful. I mean, who would want to grind all that steel to be given a dead duck. But keep them out of supposed competitive play where it should come down to skill, not the Premium ship your in. If nothing anything else, it shows good sportsman conduct and doesn't cater to the elite or those that can and those that can't. Most casual players will never see a Stalingrad in their ports ever.

    All ships are predicable to some degree: Moskv/Grads on the easy cap giving covering fire. Push when required. Des near the cap and area denial. Zao/Hindy/Henri on the Flanks. Mino/Woster supporting DDs, contesting cap killer. BB's central(ish) That's when you shake it all up and do things people don't expect. It's that unexpected thing that has got us where we are at the moment. Looking at our clan stats, that is quite good for a bunch of semi "have a laugh" competitive players. Catching a Zao when she is still trying to get onto the flanks in an auto bounce 4.8 sec reload Des is funny stuff. Having 4-5 radar ships in the team helps no-end. Shes fast but turns like a brick and turret traverse isn't good if she becomes the one getting ambushed. Like i said, she is a very solid ship, no doubt and anyone can sail her which is great. She's a balanced ship which always get my vote.

    Rework not happened yet tho I have always though the Cleveland was better then the Seattle pound for pound. Considering it's a higher tier ship. A Neptune will murder a Seattle in close (i know that one). But i hate seeing Seattles in a CV tho.

    No worries. Your in a very good Clan that trains and practises alot. We are a semi competitive clan and like you guys i'm sure, enjoys a laugh. OP used to have 2 of our players, L_O_K_I and Jibber until they move to Company Gamers. Both are in our front line up (LOKI is a very very good Mino player too). PS. Say hi to FragTalentz for me, hes a good lad and understand why he left.

    So you either kite or lemming train? Broaden that horizon, you know better than that. It's all about positioning and reacting. Kite all you want, but if you don't hold 2 caps, your getting nowhere kiting. Lemming train and you get kited all-day long and flanked. And radar stops silly things like DD+Mino+Zao, just like when they do it with Woster+DD at the contesting Cap. Nothing changes. Anyway, we are all in the same place with different tactics so if it works for you, GJ. If we didn't all do things a bit differently it would get boring very fast.

    I hope they do have CV's. Makes the game less one dimensional and gives CV players a chance to actually play their bloody ships. Their Excluded from clans as it is so don't make them feel even LESS useful. Worcester is not a tier 10 ship. Settle is and is hardly a ship that stands out is it? It's vastly inferior to be honest. Hey, i love the Donky and will give her a shot but i can see it turning into DD's and BB's mostly games. Alsar and Jean bart would stand out if cruisers were in the plenty tho (cruiser killers)

    Oh, had some really fun games at the moment in our weekend "sail whilst drinking Saturday" No DD's just shock tactics. Quite surprised with the results 10 wins, 3 looses. Gives alot of the more casual players so-to-speak a go in clans and have a laugh. Breaks the ice and puts some fun back into a camping static gun line like the rest (observation, not criticism). Nothing more satisfactory then placing torps into the side of a Grad.

    Bit like me, whatever is required i go in (Because i'm a redundant CV player ) but normally find myself in either the Des or Hindy depending on what we fancy doing. And you play to your strengths, NOT the enemy like you rightly said. A Zao needs to flank to really get suck in. You mitigate that by anchoring a Des/Moskva/Grad in front of it with radar. The point of that ship is to kite and flank. If it cant do either because 1) you HAVE to push a cap eventally 2) your kiting ships that arnt going to take the bait. Kiting doesn't win games like you know. Plus seeing a Zao in the team means less radar for the DD to worry about. It's a team game and all have to play well to get the most out of our ships. The Zao like all other ship are just the same. But it's a great Clan ship. Funny how the recent buffs to it have placed this quite high now. Looking forward to getting mine.

    In the same Storm are you mate and seen my fair share take it your a Zao player then? It's a very good ship don't get me wrong and we use 2 most of the time. But like most ships in clans, they are predictable. They flank which is great IF they get the edge and actually flank. If they don't and it turns into a stand off or even a push, they don't do that well compered to most. Those torp arcs are awful when being used offensively. I would rather be flanked by a Zao than say a Henri to be brutally honest. But it's a fantastic ship, but still beatable. If a Zao gets caught by a Grad for instance whilst kiting then it's a lot of heath gone. Your more inclined to bow-on in a Des or Mosky for instance, minimising the AP damage somewhat.

    Zao? It's a solid ship, but very predicable. They flank, turn to get torps off then go invis again. Trouble is whilst they are doing all this they EAT broadsides. The Grad stays nose on throughout the whole game and hardly has to move until he starts to push, straight. The Zao has completely replaced the Hindy IMHO in camping/kiting teams, but i would put the Des (DPM, Radar) and Defo the Grad (OP/Tanky/ hard hitting guns) above the Zao. Even the Hindy when a push is required. So i depends on what your plan is. Horses for courses. Alot of Zao players panic when they get spotted. They don't like to stay bow-on to things and try to get out of dodge. Strong ship but very beatable.

    Musashi and Missouri Will be the BB of Choice, no doubt. Taiho the CV of choice, period. With all those Musashi sailing about Cruisers will be few and far between unless you really haven't got either a tier 9 BB, CV or DD. Black, Yugumo and Fletcher are all good choices.
