There is already a thread about Jutland, please be kind enough not to spam butthurt in other threads.

I never said it's less skill demanding than before, what I said, is that it gave good players a way to decimate new/bad players. This ability came at the cost of decreased fighter DPS and an ability to outperform an AA spec'd Cruiser, how is this a good implementation. A Cruiser can melt your planes, this ability can outright make them vanish, how is this balanced? What I was implying with skill was, that it took skill to outplay a statisticly better planes.
-
Fair enough, I'm cherry picking. Why isn't the infinite amount of torpedoes on DDs a problem, ninja vanish. Some mechanics are inplane for balance purposes. Do you know how many times I lost fighters, before I learned how to control a fight - alot. Do you know how many times I was torped by TBs before I learned how to evade effectively - alot. Do you know how many times I was torped by DD before I learned how to read the map - alot I am against it, because it allows a single fighter squadron to magicly instantly kill multiple squadrons, something that an AA speced US cruiser with dozens of guns, with DF on. cannot do. As the fighter stats, I was ussing the Midway as an example of how they cut down the damage. The Ranger's fighters had 120 DPS while the Indi's had 80 DPS. Back then it took real skill to fight a Ranger in your Indi. Right now you take a balanced IJN CV and you can wreck multiple squadrons witth your 4 fighter squadron.

I'm not cherry picking, simply becase some features are there for balance. Starfing kills the CV balance. As I said, before the major change, you had to control the engagement, in that case, the Saipan with his tier 9 fighters would lose, becase his oponent lured his planes over a fiendly Cruiser. There was a nerf to fighters to acomodate the ability, right now a Midway's top fighters do 80 DPS, they did over 140 before the nerf, not counting modules and skills. Also when I said seal clubbing, I didn't mean people buying their way to tier 8, I mean people going into tier 4/5 games and destroying newbie players, who just picked up a CV. There is a huge differance between dogfinghting a noob and strafing his planes without him knowing whats going on. The problem is, we don't have auto strafe, we have 1on1 attacks, attacks that right now are way worse than a starfing run. Strafing aside, why did fighters have to be nerfed, making them worse in 1on1 fights, but absurdly lethal when strafing. I don't understand what was the problem when positioning was the name of the game for fighters? If the ability acted as a suppression tool that would do damage to the affected planes and panic them, it would have been more plausible.

I was left with the impression that this was implemented to fight the blobs that intagibbed ships, plenty of nerfs were implemented with them in mind. Having a skill floor for fighters is fine and dandy, however the implementation is horrible: 1st - You magicly kill more planes that you can with 1 on 1 fights 2nd - You can kill multiple squadrons for a fraction of the time it takes you to kill 1 bomber squadron 3rd - Because of it, fighters DPS was nerfed to hell leading to forced use of this ability 4th - This ability makes some captain skills(CV specific) useless - why take Expert Rear gunner when your bombers just get Strafed? It did not change anything, when it comes to countering fighters, but it made mistakes alot more costly. Mistakes that are punished by more skilled players. Have you not noticed the amount of Saipan captains, bunching up their 3 fighter squadrons and not using the ability. CVs are skill demanding enough, they could have easly gone without the instagib magic bullets. It takes skill to land a manual dive drop, it takes skill to land manual torp drop, it takes skill to position your planes and not lose them during teh attack, it takes skill to read the map and support. It also took skill to not lose your bombers, back when fighters were shooting bullets instead of rubber duckies in dogfights, same applied to suppresing the enemy. The issue here is an ability that defies all logic, mind you this is not a 90s arcade game and I don't understand why we need this super arcady ability here. Ability that makes some captain skills useless, punishing newer players way too severely for not knowing how to play and it comes at the price of nerfed performance of all fighters in a dogfight across the board. I remember, long time ago, that we had to control the engagement to win an unfair dogfingh, we had to think, how we were gonna position our planes to deny a larger area or minimize our loses ... it was fun. Now 1 squadron can wipe out multiple squadrons, but somehow derp out and fail to kill 1 squadron or run out of ammo. The idea of punishing stacked squadrons is good, the implementation is horrible. It should have been a suppresion ability, that dealt damage to all planes and panicked them, not wipe them out. What we have now is a seal clubbing ability.

Exactly the reason why Cvs have a limited amount of planes. What happens when you shoot down all of the CV's planes, it becomes a glorified battering ram. The only aspect that I can agree is OP, is when a CV perma spots a DD, that literally cannot do anything about it The best counter to CVs is teamwork, which is also a good way to stay alive longer regardless if there is a CV present. As for the high KD, you can say kill secure, the times when solo CV games were a thing are long gone, things have changed for CVs and some were not for the good.

What tier were you playing, because it's pretty damn hard, if not impossible to lose money at tier 7 and below. i've had games at tier 7, where I go full potato and die with 30k damage and still make a profit.
-
Should I use ingame or real life example that just don't fit in the game. RNG is stupid and the less there is in a game the better and I don't see why a roll of the dice should decide in you stay alive or not. It should be there, but not game ending.
-
They should just remake it, so that when you get a detonation, you lose 50% HP and all weapons and torpedo tubes in the area that got detonated. It would make it less painfull when RNGesus gives you the finger.
-
Pro tip: play a Cruiser and learn to aim before you go and play a class that shoots twice a minute.
-
You can use fighters? I do like the idea of a patrol boat( i guess) circling around the CV, just like a fighter plane of other ships.
-
When you get popped in a high tier game, play smart. You can do decently well on every map exept Ocean, use cover and ambush. As fo getting rekt with 2 hits, I presume you showed your sides to a BB and he citadel'd you, always try to show as small as target as possible. If you can point your ship towards your oponent you will live longer.

Yeah, that never happening and if it does happen, CVs will be nerfed so hard it takes you half the game to sink 1 ship. Let me remind you that you have idiots at tier 10 that don't know A and D, CVs had TB squadrons removed and when that wasn't enough, they nerfed the torps. What you want is to watch the world burn.
-
I tought you wanted personalized decks, what you say now leads me to thiking you want to change setups on the fly. In the end you would have a retarded hybrids where you have the huge alpha of a strike setup with the protection of AS setup. Everyone knows DB are useless and no one will pick them over TBs.

"Torpedos wont be nerfed because that's how they worked in real life"

Nice necro, bro! -
If you consider CVs to be dumbed down and simple, what can we say about CAs,BBs and DDs? WoW and NF are not the same game, in one you have full control over your ship, in the other basic control. In WoW AA is based on spheres of effect, making altitude pointless or requiring a rework of the AA mechanic. Also automatic AA makes single squadron attacks stupid, evidenced by the bomber blobs that lead to the barrage implementation. If the current mechanics are present with an option to personaly select squadrons, there is nothing to stop someone from taking a Hakutyu with 2 fighter squadrons and 6 TB squadrons and deleting ships. What you want is a copy of the controls from NF with I expect the same damage output, something that will never happen and something that will require complete rework of CVs and other mechanics in genera, again not happening. Drunken_Jedi put it nicely, you got enough potatoes that don't know how to do basic things that will cry nerf as soon as something tuches them in an unpleasent way.
-
Adding even more complexity is not gonna help. Flight decks are preset, because way back when Cvs had alot more TBs, they were able to delete people at will. Why do you need more complexity, now even your damn fighters need manual control to be remotely effective and they have been nerfed to FORCE manual control(yes I am bitter about it) Right now Cvs are at the Top of the list for skill demand and at the bottom for popularity amongst the players. CVs do need a balance, but adding needless complexity is not the answer; Fuel mechanic - other than being an indicator it changes nothing for bombers, as for DD perma spotting you can swap squadrons and still do it ..... pointless. Altitude - again pointless, because the moment you have planes popping out next to ships, you're gonna have whine thread about stealth bombers. The Barrage skill is a clear example of a bad implementation: A skill for fighters, because it was too easy when you can just click on a squadron and it dies, because blobs were a thing, well this addition made fighters crap in 1v1 situations and instead of losing 1-2 squadrons from your blob to 1 Fighter squadron you lose ALL of them, because complexity. And what is the counter to the Barrage, believe it or not it's the same as, when a fighter squadron is chasing your blob ...... spreading out of your squadrons ...... pointless skill. Not even gonna start about the logic behind the skill ....

I think this rule should be applied to some tier 3 ships as i've seen Cruisers and BBs in tier 5 games where they have no chance, regardless of how good a player is.

Someone forgot to adjust 'Situational Awareness' in 0.5.5
Seinta replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
Why does it have to be a nerf? Why can't we have something broken after a patch? Patches break things! -
I can see that being usefull, you see a damage ship, pop a smoke around him and save his [edited]. Would be better on a fighter if it replaces that god awfull intagib "skill".
-
It's the patch, my speed was 200-250 KB/s compared to 7-8 MB/s all patches before. It's well worth the wait tho.
-
Ok, I had to check to see how much crap you were talking and yeah ...... loads of crap. You were somehow able to outrun torps that go 62 knots with a Battleship that goes 30 knots at max speed. I can see why the mods have considered your previous thread "whining", because you ARE whining. You have not posted anything constructibe about the Shima change other than complain and make up stuff.
-
Training battle vs Hoshos would be an amazing spectacle.
-
The new/old AA is pure eye candy, now we just need more CVs.
-
So they tweaked Shimas and you are crying bloody murder .... Either adapt or change ships, Cvs were able to delete ships at wiill and they got nerfed, Shimas were able to spam torpedo walls without getting remotely close to the fighting and now they can't. So you have 2 options; spam your walls and pray a potato is your target or be aggresive.
