Removing the ALT feature for low tier carrier is not a good idea, because to me this is what made carrier play interesting.
From my experience, Low tier Carriers are not so dangerous because they are played by people who usually start getting a grasp of the line, and are not, in general, very good at it. Removing the ALT feature makes the gameplay boring, and even worst, doesn't prepare the players to the art of ALT droping for the higher tiers where this skill becomes usefull, even mandatory. The result will be a bunch of people reaching Tier 6 with NO IDEA on how to correctly play a carrier, adding to the already too high number of people unable to correctly fly a carrier.
Furthermore, as said above, you're unable to attack ships in smoke (smoke spamming incoming, don't underestimate low tier players) in auto mode. And don't even think about DDs....
In a sense, this reduces CVs efficiency at low tiers. But you have to admit, it wasn't so high in the first place, and you just made grinding those tiers even more tidious and hard than it was before. I suspect it will just make the carriers even less attractive.
